This is by far the best deal on jewelry restorations/alterations in the greater Austin area! To back up a bit, I was looking for someone to restore and likely resize an old ring that's been in my mother's family since around 1919. I got estimates from basically every other jewelry store in town, but Austin Jewelry Creations offered by far the cheapest and speediest option. Not only did he get the job done at a fraction of the cost and time estimated by other retailers, he did a grade-A job. Just look at the pictures if you need proof! I'm no jeweler, but I'm guessing that providing a new shank for an aged, white gold ring while still maintaining all the original character and design is no easy task. I was looking for a jeweler who would resize a sterling silver ring for me... As it turns out, it's not very popular to resize sterling and I had to ask around for a shop that would do it. A fellow Yelper told me about Gold Creations, so that's where I went. It's a little mom-and-pop store off of S. Lamar and it looks like the owners also live on the property. It's a bit weird having to ring the doorbell when the shop's sign clearly says "OPEN" but if they're living there then it makes sense that they wouldn't want any random person wandering in. The resizing took a little longer than I liked -- brought it in Wednesday, got it back Saturday -- but the workmanship was exquisite. The ring had all sorts of little squiggly designs made out of sterling silver wire on the sides, and I thought for sure there'd be a seam where the ring was taken in, but it's BARELY visible and only there if you're really hunting for it. The price was also incredibly reasonable ($15 + tax) for the resize. I feel like it was money very well spent. I am very happy and would recommend that you take your business to this place! read more

Incredible! Willie did an amazing job. I went to see him with my great grandmother's wedding ring that I wanted to make into a middle finger (non wedding) ring. My husband had my engagement ring made at Gold Creations back in 2004. He took them the diamond from his grandmother's wedding ring and a drawing that he'd made of what he wanted the ring to look like. He wanted to have something made because he wanted the ring to have rubies (my birthstone) and it's almost impossible to find rubies with white gold. It turns out that the ring wouldn't have been very sturdy the way he drew it (he's not a jewelry designer or anything). They showed him a design that was similar and worked with him to modify it a bit to get the look he was going for. They also modified it to add the settings for the rubies. Of course when it was time to get my wedding band, we went back and had them make a band to match the engagement ring. Again, I took in my own diamonds from various pieces of family jewelry. I would 100% trust them with any family pieces that I have. After having two kids, my ring is just a little bit too snug, so I will definitely be taking it to Gold Creations to resize. read more

Ok, so Linda was amazing! I had to resize my engagement ring (YAY! :D) and she was able to provide a 24 hour turn around because of my very obvious separation anxiety. :) When the jeweler gave her trouble, she drove 45 minutes one way just to pick up my ring and deliver it as promised. She still charged me the same, very reasonable, amount and graciously took my hug as I left. Since the band is platinum, the sizing does show a little bit, but it's on the bottom of the band and so not extremely visible. All in all, highly recommended! read more

My fiancee and I had a couple things made here. We first brought in a diamond we had acquired from family, and had my engagement ring made from it. Linda had great suggestions about the setting, band, and over all design. What amazed me was that she really worked with us to help us design a ring that would be within our budget. Before we came to Gold Creations, we had looked at a few other jewelers in town, thinking that it would be less expensive to buy a pre-made setting rather than to have a custom ring made. Surprisingly, this was NOT the case. In addition to it being a more affordable option, Linda was wonderful to work with, unlike the feel of the other jewelers, where it was obvious they only wanted to make a huge margin of profit. Next, we decided to have them make my fiancee's wedding band there. It came out beautiful as well, and the hammered finish that we wanted came out stunning. The quality of their work is phenomenal and flawless. My engagement ring only took 5 days to make, and the wedding band only a couple of weeks. This shop has been in business since the 70's and he has been there before to have a necklace made for me. It's Mom and Pop all the way. As a mater of fact when we asked if the ring could be done by 3/19/10 the actually date we are going to be married next year, she confessed that happened to be their 44th wedding anniversary. We opted for an emerald and garnet white gold ring, neither of us being a fan of the diamond trade. It came out beautiful. Linda has designed and created two rings for us. The first was a couple years ago when my wife wanted a new band for our second child added to a Mother's Ring from our first child. The original ring had a cross of stones that stuck out, she expertly designed a complementary ring to curve around and under the cross. My wife loved the result. Last year for our 5th anniversary I needed to replace the inexpensive engagement ring she no longer wore with a new design she would love. She showed me a picture of an R2-D2 inspired ring, hint, hint, hint. I secretly took the picture and some other pictures of R2-D2 for inspiration. Willie is so great! He replaced a stone in my wedding ring for a VERY reasonable price and had it ready the next day. Then, he saved me a trip to the ER by cutting off a ring that's been stuck on my finger for a month--he's currently putting the thing back together and resizing it for me. Several months ago he also sized down my husband's meteorite and titanium wedding ring, which, according to our google research, was supposed to be impossible! He figured out a way to inlay a silver band on the inside of the ring, so it looked exactly the same on the outside and fit much better. Again, for a reasonable price. I had a very tough time finding someone to do a custom wedding band using the actual gold from my mothers wedding band. Other jewelers wanted to take the gold as "credit" and basically give me a band with gold they had on hand. I was regularly quoted prices over $2,000 for this custom job because they did not want the hassle. Gold creations got this done for less than 1/10th the price, and I couldn't be happier with the results. I sized it a little large, but they resized for free. I would not waste your time with box retail jewelry stores, this place has got you covered. Pros: central location, excellent quality, excellent prices, friendly staff Cons: The hours are a little weird, just check the website before you go. Gold Creations is pure gold! I received an antique, sterling silver ring with onyx, turquoise and malachite stones. It needed cleaning and I wanted it enlarged just slightly. I don't know anything about jewelry and generally don't like to wear anything on my hands, not even my wedding band. So after a bad experience at the FastFix in the mall where they tried to charge me $172.00 for this work, my good friend told me about Gold Creations. Gold Creations was night and day different from the FastFix. The clerk here was so friendly and knowledgeable. I described what I wanted and after taking measurements we agreed that maybe all i needed was to to have the edges of the ring smoothed. I left the ring. The store does have odd hours so the work was done in a couple of days but I finally picked it up about a week later. The ring was beautifully polished and the clerk was right! Now with the smooth edges the ring fits perfectly and she charged me only $15 for the work. I can't say enough how much nicer it was and of course more affordable to have my ring worked on at Gold Creations. I'll definitely spread the work and bring any other work to them. read more
