I came back around November 12 for my post-September piercing post downsize but at that time the assistant at the front recommended me to wait an additional month before coming back in, which is what I did. I booked my appointment for Saturday, Dec 13 but due to leaving late from home was late. They slotted me in right after the appointment that was originally after mine and it took less than 5 minutes. Anna was a fast whiz!! It was also pretty busy in the morning with groups and friends and couples continuing to check out the earrings on display for sale as well as asking about appointment availability. I'm grateful that they didn't tell me I was *too* late! After my downsize, I was in the mood to get a piece of fashion jewelry (specifically a huggie) for February/March when my first piercing ever (lobe) is ready for it. The girl helping me out recommended a twinkle silver one that she also owns. Plot twist: I came back the next morning (Sunday) after a night of fun knocked out my left piercing. I found the backing, but not the stud. The same girl was working so I laughed about it with her and she said it's not common but also they were willing to fix it/replace the jewelry for free based on their usual warranty. For the longest time I wanted to get a helix, but I always chickened out because of the intimidating tattoo parlors. My friends recommended Studs when I was in Austin to visit. They rarely offer walk in appointments, so I recommend securing an appointment online before coming in to get pierced. Depending on the location, they only offer piercings if you're 18+. You can get a max of two piercings per visit. Pricing: $35- one piercing + cost of jewelry $50- two piercing + cost of jewelry $10- saline spray Piercing jewelry can range from $30-130 per earring. All their piercing jewelry is implant-grade flat black labret. Kels was super patient and accommodating, she knew I was nervous and took the time to assure me that the pain is bearable. They have stress balls if you need it. Pain tolerance varies for everyone, but I was surprised my helix wasn't as painful as I thought. I would compare it to a flu shot! The worse part is placing and tightening the jewelry. After a few months they have a free check up appointment where you can switch your flat black to a shorter post. The ladies at Studs were amazing. They were very friendly & made me feel so at ease. I got my rook pierced & the piercing really didn't hurt like I thought it would. I actually got 2 other earrings switched out & actually one of those was more uncomfortable because I didn't have a piercing in it for quite some time, so it was irritable (that was on me - lol). I'll need to go back in 4 months (per their request) to make sure it's healing properly. I'll definitely be back to get other jewelry switched out so they are all the same hoops. I came in with two particular piercings in mind, but after consulting with Laos, my piercer, they recommended two different piercings based on the anatomy of my ear. Laos was incredibly knowledgeable and kind, and I trusted their recommendation. I ended up with a rook and conch, and I couldn't be happier! It's only been 3 months, but both piercings have healed beautifully. I went in for a checkup about 1.5 months ago and saw another specialist (it was Laos' day off) and that specialist was impressed with the way everything was healing. We had a great first impression when we walked in--the lady at the front was fantastic! We were both excited to get our piercings done, and our piercer, Patty, seemed really friendly. However, things took a turn when I saw my friend get her tragus pierced. It took her piercer a solid three minutes to get the needle through, which immediately made me worry. When it was my turn, the experience didn't improve. The piercer literally left the needle in my ear and walked out to ask for help because it was stuck. When he returned, he also struggled to insert the jewelry into each of my piercings. I know they have six weeks of training, but honestly, I would recommend they extend that to ensure better skills and confidence. I have been to Studs before in Austin, but I recently visited this location to get another ear piercing with my cousin. Studs are very clean and sanitary and make you feel very comfortable. We didn't pre-book an appointment this time but walked in and were given an appointment within the hour. We walked south Congress for a bit before returning for our scheduled time. Be advised they only do ear piercing here and only two piercings at a time. We both decided on a flat helix piercing. Laos was our piercer, and we had a great time with the consultation and jewelry selection, then got right to business. Studs offer a wide selection of jewelry, and all Studs have a flat back, which makes healing more manageable and with less pain. I went first, and it was really quick and with minimal pain. This was my first time coming to a Studs for an ear piercing (they only do ear piercings btw), and the vibes here already solidified my trust in them thanks to my positive experience with Matt and the staff here. He was super cool, calm, and collected, and he never made me feel anxious or rushed my experience. I'm honestly one of the most indecisive people ever, and I appreciated how honest and helpful he was when it came to choosing my jewelry too. I hope every time I visit a Studs location, the piercers are like him! As for the experience, it's pretty seamless. Booking an appointment online is the most recommended... I came on a Saturday and it was packed. If it wasn't for the appointment that was running late, I probably wouldn't have been able to be seen. You use a QR code to fill out your waiver, get your ID checked, pick out your jewelry, then BAM--go to the back to get pierced (front desk gives you a mask/requires you to wear it during your appointment) and check back out in the front. For the most part, everything is contactless, which was pretty awesome/efficient. Visiting Studs was a fun time and made my visit to Austin memorable. I have 7 ear piercings, this was first time at Studs getting 2 more. There was nothing bad about my experience, it was just expensive and the vibes were disappointing. The Good: - easy booking online - really good range of stylish earrings, ranging in price and materials - free drink and snack while signing paperwork - everything seemed clean - my piercer helped me decide what to get that would look best and I trusted him The Meh: - it is expensive - for the $, I was hoping a stylist would help me more; pick out earrings and choose new piercings that would look best, but this doesn't appear to be part of the service (I may have watched too much TikTok...) - this was surprising considered I booked an apt in advance, there were 3 members of staff mostly talking to each other, and I was instructed to get there 10-15 mins early. - It felt like i was in the way, not a valued customer. My piercer wasn't ready until another 10 mins, so I spent about 20 mins wandering about, feeling a bit lost. - When my piercer was ready, it was the opposite experience; very quick, efficient, and speedy, so it felt a bit thrashy to go from sitting down for 20 mins and then being done so quickly. Ok... there might be some low (unwarranted) reviews here, but before you makeup your mind, hear me out. I have never gotten my ears pierced (well, I did when I was younger but that was my brother piercing me with a needle and thread....), so I decided it was time to leave it to the professionals. I have had other piercings including my lip done twice by other professional studios and have had every type of experience from bad to great, so I kinda know what to expect... Unlike Claires, when you have a professional piercer, they will use a straight needle, NOT A GUN. The piercer should also coach you with breathing techniques while getting pierced. This makes the whole process more enjoyable, less shocking and less painful. Lets get into it... Booking was a breeze. Yes, they book a few weeks out, but I was lucky enough to snag one a few days before. I'm guessing they had a cancellation. I had good feelings about this when the intake formed asked me for my preferred pronouns. The day of the piercing we arrived at the studio. They were doing temp checks for covid protocol, but I dont know if this is still in place. Either way it felt safe. Chris was my piercer and they were amazing. First, they helped me pick jewelry... I wanted black little diamonds, but they explained because of my ear shape it would work better with a larger stud, so we went with a lightening bolt and snake. When I picked the snake, Chris joked that we were about to summon Manon, and anyone who can throw a subtle reference from The Craft has my heart... I was ready to live my Nancy fantasy. I had friends with me, but wasn't allowed to bring them in (again I assume covid protocol), but even if thats how it is all the time, I am 100% okay with that because it allowed me and Chris to really connect and be present in the moment. They explained everything that was going to happen, and then we went through the breathing. As you breath in and out they help you relax. On an exhale, Chris pierced me in one swift pierce. It was pretty painless. They also gave me great after care instructions and their IG handle in case I had any questions. I will say, yes it is a little pricey, but I felt safe, cared for, and the quality of the jewelry was way better than most places. 14K gold baby!!! Also, side note, for those that don't know, yes you will bleed. Yes, you might bleed the next day. Yes you might bruise a week later. You have literally just shoved a foreign object through your skin. These kinds of things should be expected, and for the most part they warn you of all of this. It's been a month since I was pierced and they have healed great. After 2 weeks I felt pretty much back to normal. Chris also explained that Studs is a female owned business, they treat their employees well, offer insurance, and overall are a great company to work for. This made me feel even better about the whole experience. Studs is trying to make professional ear piercing accessible to all. I know going to a tattoo shop can be daunting for some, and claires can feel a little sketch when you are getting pierced by a 16 year old... Studs is the perfect in between. The only complaint I have has already been mentioned... the receptionist. Not exactly welcoming, just kinda stoic and not exactly helpful, just quick and curt. But Chris really turned that around. Once I got out of the piercing, the receptionist had changed attitudes, maybe cause I picked expensive jewelry, or maybe because she was having an off day. Anyways.... Get some receptionists that match the energy of the piercers and this place will do great. read more

Main problem is that if you bring a friend to get your piercing with you, they won't let the friend go back with you to the room where you get the piercing (I was that friend, and the whole point of going was to record the experience and provide moral support throughout the piercing). After everything was all set up, piercing picked out, etc. We began getting guided back to the piercing room. As I am following my friend someone at the front desk barked out that she has to go to the room alone. Very disappointing. If you want moral support from a friend while getting yours ears pierced, thats a no go. Want it filmed to record the moment/process? Too bad. Also on top of that they have pictures/videos posted on google that clearly show 3rd parties there during piercings, so very misleading to post/promote those but then have a different policy. Anyway, given piercings are often done socially I find this policy very odd and very much takes away from the experience. read more

Don't go here- they have WAY LESS options for jewelry in the store compared to online. I had the only typical titanium curved barbell option. But I had committed to the appointment, so I just went with it. I got an anti tragus. Right when I saw it in the mirror it was crooked. When I asked, I was assured it was just fine. Tried for 13 months to get it to heal properly. Finally saw my normal piercer and turns out it was done too shallow AND at crooked and therefore, it would never heal. So thanks Stud's for wasting my money and all the time I spent babying a piercing that was doomed from the start. At least I'm not sleeping on a travel pillow anymore. The prices for piercings are super reasonable but the jewelry is where it can cost you a pretty penny! You have to book an appointment for piercings but if there is extra time between appointments and you didn't schedule for a earring change they may have some time available for you. Got a couple piercings here not long ago and it was great. I made an appointment and they didn't call me back until 20 minutes after my set time but it was okay. Just got my nerves going a bit more. My piercer Amanda was very sweet and accommodating. She talked me through what she was doing and explained the healing and aftercare process thoroughly. One thing i'm super bummed about is the fact that i opted in for the solid 14k gold earrings to protect me from irritation and tarnishing. Even though the front of the earring earring is solid gold, they put a titanium flat back on both piercings. Probably wouldn't have paid the extra for solid had I known I wasn't also getting the gold back as well. Disappointed because the part that's actually in my piercing is titanium...defeating the purpose of the gold choice. Otherwise, The space is really cute and open. I got pierced here by Chris maybe two months ago. I came in open-minded and threw out a couple of piercings I wanted to get (snakebite, forward helix, and a rook). He said no to all of them and convinced me to get another helix. Fine, I had already booked the appointment and did not want to leave without a piercing. Fast forward to the present, the second helix piercing did not heal well at all. I've had a cartilage piercing in for years with no issues but am constantly getting bumps and general irritation from this one. On top of that, I went to another piercer to get more done (once you start you really can't stop) and was told the angle of the piercing was poor. It is hard to see the cute little star stud I picked out because of the angle and the healing was stunted as well. The other piercer I visited (Biolab piercing studio in Houston) also had no issue getting a rook in for me. Would never go back here. Poor quality piercing at an expensive price and I couldn't even get what I wanted. read more
