My smile is ruined. I was sent to this location due to the VA being overbooked. I had a small overlay of composite on my teeth (#8-9) from 2013 that closed a very small gap. It was a little worn down, but my teeth were in great shape. The doctor said he couldn't replace or smooth out the composite because it would make my teeth weak. He suggested veneers and a cleaning. I was initially against it, but he said he would just shave off a small portion of the teeth and place a very thin porcelain veneer on top. He assured me my smile would look exactly the same. On the day my teeth were prepped, I was asked to arrive 1.5 hours early. I thought I was coming in for the cleaning, but he was prepping for the veneers. My entire appointment was rushed. He prepped my teeth in 10 minutes tops and sent me home with hideous yellow temporary teeth. He claimed that was the only color he had in his office. The regret immediately set in. I realized he didn't take pride in his work that day. The veneers are huge. They tapper at a weird angle and are obviously uneven. My teeth feel tight and sensitive. I have gaps on the back of my teeth where the veneer connects to the natural tooth. Food will sometimes get stuck. He also hit both of my lateral incisors with the drill, resulting in a chipped tooth. I expressed my disappointment to the doctor before he glued them in. He told me that if he makes the veneers any shorter, he would have to re-prep and that could lead to a root canal. I left that day so defeted. The cleaning was also never scheduled. I posted a picture where you can see the chip, he left in my tooth that wasn't even supposed to be touched. I am so upset that I allowed him to do the veneers in the first place, I had a gorgeous smile. I now have to find a doctor who can fill the chipped tooth and replace the veneers that also take VA insurance. I am devastated. I truly believe that if I went to another doctor, I would not be in this predicament. They most likely would have replaced the composite instead of pushing for the veneers. Unfortunately, there are people out there who would rather make a quick buck than do the right thing. Advance Smile Center called me after I asked the VA to send a referral to another dentist. The receptionist tried to guilt me into making a follow-up appointment with the same doctor. She told me the right thing to do would be to allow him to fix his mistake. I am so stunned to see such poor reviews for this amazing dentist. I have NEVER had issues with them using our insurance AND when our insurance was maxed out, they then used a plan through dentalplans.com. This office completely rebuilt my mouth. Completely. I had crowns that had cracked and broken off. I LOVE that they do all the work there. Extractions, root canals, braces (we haven't used this procedure yet but will as our daughter needs braces), implants...and my implants were COMPLETELY PAIN FREE!!! I was honestly stunned. I must tell you I expected to be in a great deal of pain. I have been to so many dentists in Austin. So many. Some were so overpriced that when I called to price check this dental office, I was really shocked. Their prices are MUCH lower. My husband has always had a huge fear of dentists. When I was 1/2 way through my treatment, he started to go and they did all the work on his mouth and he is extremely satisfied as well. Rita is extremely helpful with billing and appointment. As well, there is NEVER an issue with getting in there even if it's an unexpected, emergency appointment. For my recent deep cleaning, their prices went up but they used the same price from the last time I had one done. This is amazing. NO ONE DOES THIS! Tony is just so kind and gentle. The dentist? He's amazing. The best I have ever been to and this is in two different states. I have autoimmune diseases and always get an infection with any dental work. Not with this dentist. So far they have seen 3/5 family members and our teens are going to begin going here next. We have been here for 3 years or perhaps a bit more. We will always return and now, our teens are going to transfer to this office as we are unhappy with their pediatric dentist. Please give them a chance. They come to me several months later wanting more money, sending the amount to collections. When trying to resolve, no phone call or emails back. LIARS AND SCAMMERS!!! After reading about the exact same issues described by other negative reviewers on the web, I now realize that I had fallen into the exact same scam they had. It seems that Advanced Smile Center has figured out a way to scam patients out of their hard earned money by simply not following through with validating insurance benefits in order to estimate the patients out of pocket expenses prior to their scheduled procedure; all the while presenting some well rehearsed and well crafted lies and excuses why they had not! Evidently after the procedure they simply bill you any amount they desire and turn you over to collections if you do not or cannot pay them! The front desk clerk went as far as to try to entice me to go forward with the procedure prior to them validating my insurance benefit; telling me that my insurance will pay 100% for the procedure, which was another flat out lie, because they do not! read more

IF I COULD GIVE NEGATIVE STARS I WOULD. Tuesday July 31st 2018, Dr. Ellie Salmani performed 5 fillings on my teeth, 4 on the left(2 on top/2 on bottom), (1 on the right side bottom) (all molars) During the procedure she was distracted by her assistant/ front desk employee (one or the other, I couldn't look back to know for sure). With the drill still in my mouth. I felt her slip, I should have stopped her then, but I had my trust in her. I left her establishment and of course my tongue was still numb so I couldn't feel anything. Later that day, when the numbness subsided I realized one of my fillings (on the top left side of my mouth), was not flushed to my tooth (meaning something was wrong and my tooth didn't feel the same as it did before the procedure) as well as the left side of my tongue was all tore up. I had to wait to eat or chew, until the numbness was over, so I wouldn't accidentally chew my cheek or tongue. otherwise I would have called sooner then Wednesday August 1st 2018 ( I didn't notice the filling hanging until I tried to chew) I called that Wednesday (the 1st bright and early) to set a time to have it fixed on Thursday August 2nd 2018.(I couldn't go Wednesday, due to my busy schedule) I couldn't close my mouth correctly. I get there after work and she starts to drill away the filling that was hanging down, revealing that she chipped my tooth when she slipped during my original appointment. She proceeds to tell me that it's been that way and that she didn't chip my tooth, like I wouldn't know my own mouth/ teeth. I had braces as a kid and for anyone that has had them knows that the orthodontist files down your teeth to make them smooth and even. Back in February 2018 I had a deep cleaning done, for a bump to appear and never go away in my lower gum line in the very front but behind my teeth (where the tip of my tongue always touches). Never had a bump there before and the dentist tells me it has been like that (THATS TWICE, THAT SHE DOESN'T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR HER MISTAKES), (I am a very body conscious person, I would know if it has been that way!) I go there Friday morning August 3rd 2018 to receive my records. She originally says she will release them to me but mid transaction decides she is going to wait 7 to 10 business days. If she is not in the wrong, why would she withhold my record? She sends over X-rays and pictures via email, the ones she wanted to send NOT all of them, and not everything from my file and also removes the dates from the images/ X-rays by cropping them out. I've never had a bad experience with a dentist before until I started to see Dr. Salmani. She's rude, does not take responsibility for her mistakes, blames her clients, and I wish I never went there! I gave her the benefit of the doubt about the bump in my gum-line and allowed her to supply my fillings. I should have followed my gut and went with a different Dentist. I chew the most on the left, hence why I had more fillings done on that side and now I can't even chew like I used to and if it was like that BEFORE, LIKE SHE CLAIMS, I would have brought the issue to her attention WAY BEFORE. and now I'll have to find a dentist to fix her mistake. I will be getting my records from my Minnesota dentist/ orthodontist and it will not be the last time she hears from me! DO NOT TRUST HER. GO SOME PLACE ELSE WHILE YOU STILL CAN. I went here for many years, with an obscure DMO. But I always prefer small private practices over corporately owned ones. Pros: I think Dr. Samani does good dental work. She has a nice manner and good skills. She is personable and did a good job on a crown for me (although it was much whiter than my natural teeth). Accepts my DMO. Her radiologist is really nice - I think his name is Tony...? Cons: HEAVY cosmetic dentistry marketing. It finally got to be too much. Last time I was in there they took my picture and gave me a picture of before and after with veneers. I have never expressed interest in veneers. They also suggested whitening as a consolation/alternative. Again, I wasn't asking for it. The Rotadent toothbrush, the oral cancers exam (at least this one is medical)... It was completely overwhelming and I left tired in the morning. Even after regular visits for many years I still don't have any connection with front desk staff. UPDATE: I've been coming here many years. I've had no major work done. There's an assault of sales pitches which they're trimming down these days to speed the process. Today, 16 minutes passed before I got not a "hello" but instead "who are you, and have you been helped?" The hygienist and dentist are chill. Upon leaving, the receptionist told me to do a google review of my opinion which she'd assist me with for a gift card. The receptionist reviewed my post, told me to change it to a 5 star review, and things I should say. She was not content with a 3 or 4 star review and 3 sentences. I am always floored by the new marketing strategies that are harassing to customers. These folks have stooped to the lowest level yet. You'll be rewarded with a measly $5 HEB gift card for putting up with it. I am now motivated to find a new dentist. read more

After having an absolute nightmare at another dentistry, it was recommended that I see Dr. Ellie Samani. If I could go back 560 days, I would in a heartbeat. Not only is this high quality dentistry; it has a small staff that does more than most medical facilities with large staffs... It is clean, hi-tech dentistry. I must start with the woman who has changed my life. Dr. Samani. She is a woman that has her craft extremely well perfected. She asks questions. (Not the regular "How are you feeling?" type of questions.. She wants to know what you aspire to achieve when it comes to your oral care and what you want to do in life. She has the key quality you want in a health care provider... Bedside manner. She actually cares about you. While, I am still in the process of my treatment plan, I couldn't be more happy. read more

This was my worst dentist experience ever. On my first visit, Dr Samani told me I had cavities that needed fillings so I had her do them. For months after that I had tooth pain so I kept going in to see what was wrong. She left a ton of high points that she kept having to file down and didn't seal one of the fillings so I had to have one of them re-done completely after making her x-ray my me again. After going in multiple times over a few months she said "you just need to give your teeth 6-7 months to heal" .... for fillings. I went to another dentist who looked at my teeth. The fillings she had done had ledges and she had left some cavities in there under the fillings. Now I need a root canal because the tooth she did a filling on was actually done too deep. My new dentist has had to fix her fillings and give me a root canal after 5 months of tooth pain when all I needed was a few fillings. DEFINITELY do not recommend her. On my last visit I saw a woman who was very upset and complaining to her about the bad dental work she'd done on her daughter too. I'd just avoid completely. read more

I should start by saying that I've been going here for years, and now I have so many concerns. The dentist proceeded with a procedure without having authorization from the insurance company back in December. I was not told that my insurance had not approved the procedure and the dentist proceeded with the procedure. After billing the insurance, it was determined that the procedure was NOT necessary and that the insurance would not be covering the procedure. The dentist office is now working to bill me for a procedure that would never had been authorized had I known that the insurance was not going to cover the cost. In my correspondence from the dentist, she her self said, "Therefore we did the procedure without knowing it would not be covered. This is a very common procedure and is paid by most other insurers" This would confirm that she did the procedure without authorization, but without my consent. I should ask that I paid well over $300 for my portion fo the procedure, and now they have sent the item to collection. I've contacted the Better Business Bureau and will be looking into following up with the Texas Board of Dental Examiners. It's dissappointing, as I have been using this dentist for YEARS, and I feel like she took advantage of my trust. read more

The dental services here were well done and none of us had issues with the quality of the care, but there was an extremely creepy guy working there in the x ray area. When he was giving my 4 year old an x ray I felt weird about how he was touching and picking her up. I asked her to let me do it but he did it again. It happened 3 times! I was so confused why he wasn't listening. It seemed like he was pressed right against her from the back which was also unnecessary. I ended up pushing him away. He acted like nothing happened. Best case he's socially awkward?! My mom gut felt like that wasn't the case though. But I thought I'd mention in the review. the first thing Dr. Samani spoke to me about was my insurance and was so eager to get my most expensive procedures out of the way. If it hadn't been for my own knowledge of insurance, My treatment plan would have far exceeded my benefits available to me. Dr. Samani is not a comforting DDS to say the least. She made me feel like my teeth were a ticking time bomb and that I was going to end up in the E.R. I really felt that this practice's main concern is reimbursement. The support staff is not very friendly. and the facility is out dated with little to no interior updates. when I'm having my teeth worked on I get distracted by how lazy someone must have been that painted this place. When numbing my teeth she applied oragel and right away followed with the Novocain. typically when having major dental work done I have had the topical numbing agent sit for a few minutes and then the Dr. comes in says "Okay, we are going to start here... slight pinch, let me know if you get uncomfortable" ... something along those lines. This was not the case during my visit with Dr. Samani. I haven't been this nervous about the dentist since I was 7 years old. I will not be visiting this dentist again. If you are looking for tooth extraction, be careful. The doctor struggled with my two tooth for good 30 minutes before giving up and saying she doesn't have the instruments. I later went to an oral surgeon and got the procedure. But I had to suffer four extra days of pain because of this. read more

I had a preliminary examination and routine cleaning after a year since my last cleaning. I will strive to be as objective as I can, while keeping in mind I have an ultimately biased opinion: THE GOOD: The staff is very friendly and personable. I felt at ease the entire visit, and every step of the way was met with smiles and engaging conversation. THE BAD (in order of increasing seriousness): -A few items of equipment need some maintenance: the x-ray machine was slipping, and caused the hygienist to have problems taking the x-rays. Their portable camera was also not working properly. -Hygienist was very up-selly on their new teeth whitening offering. My teeth are not pristine-colored, but they are not notably discolored either. It is my understanding that any teeth whitening procedure, no matter how advanced, weakens the teeth. For the record, I do not resent upselling. But when it is being done at the expense of my health, I take offense. We are supposed to place our health in the hands of these professionals, and if the dollar is more important to them, we need to go somewhere else. -Both hygienist and dentist were very messy with my cleaning. I've never been to another dental office where "Close" (ie vacuum up saliva and excess rinse water) was not done every 10-20 seconds during the cleaning. At this office, both the calcium scraping by the dentist and the polishing by the hygienist had exactly one instance of clearing up the water and mess with the vacuum. The remainder of the time, the splash and garbage was allowed to spray all over my face (I have facial hair, so it was being actively absorbed). And their remedy? To wipe the liquid around with the already-saturate towel on my chest. This was thoroughly unpleasant. I have never been in a cleaning experience like that. -The dentist recommended I purchase some gum-healing mouth wash and use it. Rinse once a day, etc. At checkout, that turned into two bottles, rinsing twice a day. Of course, this means I need to buy a second bottle. I opted to ignore that recommendation, buy the one bottle, and call it a day. -The dentist was rather careless about the amount of scraping being done at my gum line, causing a lot of agitation and bleeding (much of the blood making its way to my face, as I outlined earlier). Now, I've had "deep cleanings" done before because of significant gum recession. I'm no stranger to gum bleeding. But according to this doctor, my gum levels were fine. So I'm not sure which is inaccurate: are my gum levels low, or are you just incredibly rough with the gum line? Now all of this is bad. At this point I would have rated this office a 2/3 star. But the tipping point and why I felt it necessary to submit my experience into a review is this: THE UGLY -The dentist recommended I have 8 sealants filled (not covered by insurance) -The dentist also recommended I have a filling done on a back molar, and a chip on my front tooth filled (covered by insurance). She informed me that the chip in my front tooth will, quote "Be twice as big next year." She did not explain further on the back molar filling required. I assumed it was a cavity. So because of my poor experience up to this point, I resolved to go to another clinic to have this evaluation checked and have the work done there. ***The dentist disagreed on both counts*** Her evaluation was a filling on the front tooth was both unnecessary and very likely to fall out easily because of how small it is. The chip had no indication of being in danger of increasing in size, and because of my bite, had a low chance of having any problems caused because of it. She also informed me the spot of the molar filling ***already had a filling in place and it was fully intact with no work required.*** They sent me on my way. TL;DR My experience leads me to believe that in addition to being relatively unpleasant to get cleanings completed, Advanced Smile Center prioritizes selling procedures over caring for the health and best interest of the patient. 1 Star read more

BEWARE! Do not bring your children here if you are expecting a thorough examination. I am a foster father, and have been bringing my two foster children here for their Bi-annual check ups for the time they've been in my care which is 9 months. The first time I was a little suspect, because of the lack of thoroughness the dentist seemed to have with checking their teeth. The second time, same thing. She didn't even look at my kids teeth the last time, she had the hygienist do a quick scan and that was it. This was 2 months ago. This morning, my daughter started complaining about pain on the backs of her top teeth. I looked myself and could visibly see a cavity on each tooth! I took her to a different dentist immediately, and discovered she has 3 cavities! They also try to bribe you with a HEB gift card for leaving a good review on Google, which is why I assume they even have a good overall rating on there. It's for $2.50, so don't get too excited. read more

Apparently giving zero stars is not an option, so I'll give this business one. This dentist is one that I would avoid AT ALL COST. First of all, I had three fillings done by Dr. Samani 3 weeks ago and I am still in immense pain every time I chew. I went back two weeks ago to adjust said fillings and she assured me that we fixed the problem and my pain would subside in about two days... This didn't happen, and after paying her an arm and a leg for those fillings, I haven't had the cash to go to another dentist to fix the problem. I'll be damned if I ever set foot in her office again. I have had numerous fillings in my life, and none of them hurt more than a day after. On top of the painful and expensive procedure, Dr. Samani has a personality like stale bread. Not someone you want staring into your mouth for an hour. Avoid, avoid, avoid. read more

I had a procedure done and I was not happy with the treatment I received. I was given a local anesthetic and I was not given enough because I was experiencing pain and when I started crying because I was hurting I was questioned on "how could I be hurting when I was given anesthetic, and to describe my pain when I was having a panic attack and crying uncontrollably. I was told I was not going to be given pain medication after I had two teeth (one being my wisdom tooth) removed and I was in so much pain. A friend had to call and complain telling them I was in so much pain I could not stop crying. This is the worse experience I have ever had and I will not return ever and I hope you are smart before going to this dentist on what you have to look forward too. read more

This company does NOT understand the insurance, as well as they claim to when they tell you what your co-pay is. After getting my teeth cleaned, and paying my share (as quoted by them), I find out I still owe then an additional $387. They told me I had really good insurance, and were trying to convince me I should maximize my use of the benefit. Since I paid my share, as quoted by them, when I was in the office, I have zero idea why I ended up with an additional bill for $387. I never actually saw a bill from them, I only saw the bills from the collection agency they sent the bill to. But when I am not expecting a bill, it is easily missed, and confused with junk mail. This is my fault. But I fully expected that I had paid my full share, during my visit. read more

First off, Dr Samani is a great dentist. She explains everything thoroughly and ensures you are comfortable. The downsides to her office are her support staff. The dental hygienist and dental assistants are not professional at all. You can tell how they speak to her or make comments while she is not listening. At one point, the assistant was speaking loudly across the office and Samani asked her politely to come to her and talk. That kind of courtesy should be expected in a doctor's office. This office is also much older and needs to be upgraded or moved. read more

I had a check up and cleaning appointment with Dr. Samani early in 2015. I have never been so uncomfortable at the dentist or any other doctor's office in my life. After a quick exam, the first question she asked me was "When was your last dental appointment?". When I told her it was a year ago she immediately told me that I had 2 cavities on the tops of my back lower molars on either side. I was skeptical considering I have never had a cavity in my life and now I had two. She kept insisting that it must be due to my high sugar intake (which is not the case). Needless to say, I did not come in for fillings she wrote up on my treatment plan and instead went for a second opinion. I saw another dentist in town who assured me that I had no cavities. Dr. Samani wanted to put me through unnecessary dental work and charge my insurance and myself unnecessarily. I would never trust her with my dental needs again and would not recommend her to anyone I know. read more

Worst experience ever with this one. I recently moved to Austin, and was in need of a regular teeth cleaning. This clinic won't do teeth cleaning for me unless I spend some out-of-pockets money in addition to my insurance. The "doctor " seemed to be very unprofessional. She was saying I will lose my teeth unless I pull out my wisdom teeth, which was quite opposite to my previous dentist's opinion. Plus, I have had no problem with my wisdom teeth. In addition, they quoted me high out-of-pocket for repairing gum, which was minor problem according to my previous dentist. I say stay away from this place. They are just trying to steal money from you. I am glad that I didn't listen to what ever nonsense she said. read more

My daughter, 6 years old, has never needed real work done on her teeth. She needed to now get a cap put on her back tooth. We went to this office due to its close location. I should of went with my gut feeling and never let her touch my child. She wasnt explaining anything, she didnt have the proper tools, and she kept yelling at my daughter to stop crying after the dentist gave her shots in her mouth. The final straw was when she told my daughter to stop crying or she would kick her mommy out of the room. We left quickly after that. What kind of monster tells a scared little girl that? first, I must say that most of my life I've been terrified of dentists, don't know why. with that said, I was in extreme pain from an impacted tooth when I walked into Dr. Samani's office. My first impression of her staff was that yes, they did seem a little less knowledgeable than most, but they were friendly. Dr. Samani is not your typical blow smoke up your a** dentist. She says what needs to be done and doesn't sugar coat it. I LIKED that about her. Some may see that as being uncaring or curt, but in my eyes, that's honesty. she doesn't try to get you to do something that isn't necessary at the moment (like teeth cleaning). She gets what needs to be done, done. She explained the procedure to me, and by the time she did that the nova cane had began to work, and in no time at all she was done. and NOTHING she did hurt me! on my follow up visit she asked me how I was before I even sat down in her chair. and when I told her of my concerns she was very patient and answered all my questions. So, if you want a no thrills, no smoke up your a** get it done dentist, I recommend her completely. for those that want that and want to be pampered, go to someone else.
