So glad I finally found a dental office to love again! I've been searching for a new one after my favorite hygienist left the last practice. Each patient has an enclosed room with a door. There is a tv mounted above the seat so you can watch Netflix while you are getting your cleaning. Paige was a great hygienist and I can't wait to go back. She was very thorough and super sweet. Dr Rick is awesome. He's so friendly and nice! The front desk staff is amazing they are very prompt and friendly. Love working with everyone here! Find another spot. Communication is not clear. As a patient your request could not be met with more opposition. Exam with no hygienist on hand to thoroughly complete the examination. Will do it later. After your deep cleaning. Wish I would of had better things to say. Briana at the front desk is not very adaptable to a fast moving individual with questions. I frustrated her with the most simple request. After missing one appointment four years ago they still holding on to the feelings. I was confused with the timing of my three appointments. All on Fridays, when I showed up 11 mins after I was told to wait a minute to see if we could still accommodate your appointment. Brianna had me called me with four minutes to spare in the time frame and I made it in 4mins and under 5. Only to be told you are now 15 mins past. This place has no concern for anything other than themselves. Rude. Combative and so unprofessional. Continue your search. read more

Last year, Dr Rick and his team at Forest Family Dentistry North completely revamped my smile. It wasn't terrible, but I had a sizable gap in my front top teeth and a tremendous amount of crowding in my bottom teeth. I never had braces as a kid and just always wanted straight teeth. We did the whole shebang -- Invisalign, veneers, and a procedure to fix the dreaded "black triangles" that resulted from a couple triangular shaped teeth which could not touch at the gum line. The transformation is unreal. Before and after picture attached. I couldn't be happier with the result. I also couldn't be happier with the process at Forest Family North. Dr. Rick answered a ton of questions throughout the treatment plan. I had to go through a few revisions, I maybe panic'd a time or two...Dr. Rick and the rest of the staff were very patient, always answered my questions, and were very clear with how each step in the process would work -- I never felt like I was "putting them out" by having them explain things. I've not experienced a kinder, more considerate medical professional team! They also have Netflix and routinely check in with you to make sure you're comfortable. 10/10 would recommend! read more

I made the worst decision choosing thos office as my dentist. I was referred out for root canal even though it seemed i could get work done in house. Then when i made appointment to return for both crowns, there is no paperwork for one from the dentiat who performed the procedures. No one told me i'd ending up having to come in for over 15 hours of appointments. This is ridiculous and poor communicayltion. I specifstated when making my appointment what was needed and the ball was completely dropped. I'll be looking for another dentist immediately. read more

I love this office and it's staff! Dr. Rick has been a literal god send and I couldn't be more grateful to have him as my dentist. He's hilarious, kind, and his patient care is phenomenal, I feel like I could talk to him about anything! He made me a plan to get all work done that I need and has just been so flexible about moving things around that work for my budget, he's even squeezed me in, in the later evenings to rework my plan to take care of issues that have popped up. I couldn't be more grateful for Dr.Rick! I had to find a new dentist because my old one left the practice and thankfully for the reviews on Yelp, I chose Dr.Rick. He is very knowledgeable and explains what dental work needs to be done and why in great detail. Him and his staff are very clear and informative about pricing and do not hide anything. When I was told by another dentist that I needed thousands of dollars of work (not true!), Dr. Rick was totally transparent about the state of my mouth. He has a wonderful bedside manner and is very thorough. Be Tu is always my hygienist and she's also wonderful! Even though I only go in every six months, she remembers things I told her the time before. She does a great job with the cleaning. TL;DR: look no further! Possibly the best dental care facility in Austin! With a last name like Donkersgoed, how could your dentist not be awesome?! :D. Dr. Rick is extremely professional, very friendly and easy-going, very patient, and clearly has the patient's best interest at heart. He laid out a clear care plan for me (I have terrible teeth and it wasn't easy). He and his office worked around my insurance and schedule to make sure I'm comfortable with every detail (again, teeth not great). The hygienists, nurses, and reception staff have been nothing but wonderful as well. I've had my wisdom teeth removed there. That ended up saving my tons of money, recovery time, and didn't hurt a single bit (didn't even have to be put under!). Dr. Rick even made himself available after hours in case of emergency. He seems to be able to handle just about any complication that arises (did I mention having terrible teeth??) with calm and skill. The only downside is the service might be a little costly. But hey, that's the state of healthcare in America. Given the quality of service--and the fact that it's your health--I think its well worth it. Once, I had trouble affording payment in lump-sum. The office allowed me to pay it off in installments that I set up. Wonderful! Thank you, Dr. Rick and FFD staff!! Also: The office is nicely decorated. Each room is named after an animal, which is kinda cute, so if you have kids, they just might enjoy it. They even have Netflix on the ceiling for you to watch in case you get bored. I love Dr. Rick! I had previously worked with Dr. Hanak, but he moved away and Dr. Rick took over my care. I had a crown done today in about 50 minutes. He was thorough, explained everything he was doing, and was very attentive to how I was doing and feeling. As someone who used to be terrified of the dentist, I can say that I enjoyed working with Dr. Rick today and he will be taking care of my treatments moving forward. The staff is very friendly as well- just make sure you schedule any cleanings far out because they usually book out for 6 months! Updating because I wish I could give more than 5 stars. My temporary crown wasn't sitting quite right in my mouth and it was bothering me. I reached out to Dr. Rick on a Friday afternoon and he had me come in at 5pm that day to adjust it for me. As a relatively new resident to Austin, I was nervous when looking for a new dentist to find care. I have had a history of less than stellar dental habits when I was younger with soda, hard candy and quite a few fillings. What a great experience I had here. Seriously, 5 stars! My boss and friend come here and they highly recommended Forest. From setting up the appt on the phone to my in office experience, all went smoothly. Everyone is really friendly and nice and laid-back and they explain everything step-by-step (for someone with OCD, this is very helpful ;) Marissa took x-rays and assisted along the way, the dental hygienist Kristine may have been the best I've ever had; I could hardly even tell she was working on me and she also gave me tips that even the best hygienists never gave me. Dr. Greg was extremely nice and easy to talk to - he explained basically everything going on in my mouth and was very honest in assessing anything to correct look at in the future. On top of that, I love the office location as well as how the office is designed - there are doors for each room so that it makes it nice and private and quiet. They have TV's on the ceiling that have Netflix on them and that proves to be a great distraction, especially for the many people who have dental anxiety. I'm impressed by their accommodating business hours and the staff on the phone and in person were very nice. My husband went in for a comprehensive exam and to fix his chipped tooth. Best dentist office I've ever been to. Best staff, best (i.e. most painless) cleanings. Like most people, I've always hated going to the dentist. And while I still hate going to the dentist, FFD has made my visits to a dentist as pleasant as is possible. The staff is amazing. My most recent appointment was with one of the newer hygienists who moved to the Austin area recently. This cleaning was the most painless, tolerable cleaning I've ever had. Best hygienist ever. The front office staff is great too. While checking out, the front desk guy struck up a conversation with me for about 10 minutes. They have TVs on the ceiling, which provides a nice distraction. My only suggestion for the office would be to get wireless headphones to connect to the TV to drown out the sounds that come from dental work. All in all, I would recommend this office to anyone, but especially people who hate going to the dentist, like myself. read more

I've visited this office several times and I have to say that I had a great first impression and continue to be impressed. The office itself is beautifully designed, immaculate, and very comfortable. I've had several dentists but Dr Rick stands out by far. I hate the dentist. Absolutely hate them. I have extreme dental anxiety - like get out of my mouth - get away from me - don't touch me or I will scream and punch you type anxiety. So I did not go for years just convincing myself that everything was fine but deep down I knew I had some cavities brewing. My friend who has crazy anxiety told me about this place. I did not trust her cause dentists are the devil but figured I would try. Seriously... this is the best dentist for people who hate dentists. They are friendly and they really seem to care about your overall experience. Before your appointment, you fill out paperwork and one sheet is all about your experience - it asks what you do and don't like so they know what to expect. I checked that I hated everything. I wanted them to be prepared for the level of cray that I planned to bring. I got a cavity filled and acted like a 3 year old and they did not give a damn that I was crazy. They were like okay cool - you ready? you sure? you comfortable? They also didn't judge that I hadn't been in forever and didn't judge the tantrum I was throwing. I seriously cannot say enough about them... I am so glad I found them. If you have a real fear - go to them. They offer laughing gas any procedure for like $50 if you need it. You also can watch Netflix while they are in your mouth which makes the experience slightly more tolerable. Their locations are everywhere and really beautiful. You don't feel like you're in some cold clinic type office. It feels warm and friendly. Pricing wise they are totally fair too - I was quoted almost $800 less here on some work I need done vs. my previous dentist. I believe they also do payment arrangements and care credit too. Of course if you have insurance, you will likely pay nothing for normal cleanings. To sum up in case you ignored all of the above... if you hate dentists but know you need to go cause it's been forever - go here. They are awesome. read more

The quality of the service has always been fantastic. The doctors are also friendly and happy to explain exactly what they are doing and why. The assistants and the staff are also fantastic! I was running late and they called to make sure everything was ok... never had any doctor office do this. They also have access to Netflix, with TVs on the ceiling, so if you do need more work done they have a good selection of shows you can watch (on request!). I had not been to the dentist in years and was a bit worried about going back. Had a full exam with x-rays and all taken, check up, cleaning and whitening. It was such a great experience! Everyone I worked with was super nice, professional and the office is nice clean and modern. The best part for me was explained what they were talking about to you every step of the way. They have a TV mounted on the ceiling so that you can see it from the chair and the doctor puts your x-rays on and goes over it with you step by step. I don't think I could have any better experience than the one they provided to me. Also, that TV that is mounted on the ceiling, well they turn on Netflix for you during your cleaning and whitening so you just relax and watch TV. I would suggest filling out all the forms on the website if you are going for the first time. That made it so all I had to show was my ID and sign 2 documents and I was ready for my visit; 5 minutes tops. It saved so much time and they had all of that info ready to go. Best dentistry experience I've had. I don't have dental insurance and have been charged over $400 for an initial visit (literally just cleaning, X-rays, and exam) and this, combined with my old dentist always being on vacation when I wanted to schedule a visit, unfortunately led me to just not go to the dentist. FFD was understanding and made my visit affordable in addition to actually notifying me about cancellations, how far ahead I should book, etc. They were able to fit me in for an exam a few days after I called and had a cancellation for a cleaning about a week after, though cleanings were booking several months out. At my visit, I did wait a few minutes but didn't mind because they got me in a room quickly and had Netflix going while I waited. The dentist walked in full of positive energy and sat down with me and explained which teeth would need work more immediately and had the X-rays blown up on the computer screen so I could easily see what was going on; most dentists awkwardly show you your X-ray while you're laying there painfully turning your neck. The cleaning was standard (some people obsess over getting a thorough cleaning but I've never really noticed a big difference), but had the added bonus of free whitening! The work I had done was taken care of in a timely manner and the dentist numbed my mouth well on the first try, while other dentists I saw in the past have literally missed the nerve 5+ times in a row. I don't see myself going anywhere else in the Austin area. After trying several other places that were a disappointment, this is hands down the best dentist I've found! Reasonable pricing, flexible hours, friendly staff, and a focus on patient comfort really set FFD apart! read more
