Stole $8,000 from our company. In November 2020 Marc said he did not receive our payment so we overnighted a replacement check. However, Marc had received the original check, which he cashed. And then he also cashed the replacement check. When confronted, Marc apologized and said he'd pay us right back. After months of promising to repay the amount and then never making good on it - Marc now refuses to return our calls and no repayment arrangements have been followed through on. I would not trust Marc to handle anything related to my home or business knowing what we know now. read more

New unit replaced in May, has not worked properly and despite them trying to fix it with a different excuse every time (I didn't like the damper boards and ordered news ones that will l be here tomorrow.....yet they never came in, and then saying it's not the damper boards), I had to call another company to fix when I could not get air bellow 83. They said it was set up wrong. Still not working properly and pretty sure it's damper boards, but despite many attempts to get MGM out after they set up appointments nothing but no shows and unit still is not working properly. Electric bill is more than double from last year. FIND ANOTHER COMPANY! You're welcome ;) read more

Worst experience ever. Misdiagnosed my furnace in the first place and had ordered a part that wasn't needed. The part was supposedly on 'back order' for several weeks and they refused to return phone calls or texts. Found out the part was in stock locally but they still refused to respond. I finally had a different company (Stan's) come in, they diagnosed AND fixed it within 3 minutes!! Was a clogged pressure switch. I wouldn't have waited so long except MGM Air was sent by my home warranty company who refused to change contractors. I have also fired the warranty company over this issue. read more

Had AC issues. Called my home warranty company. MGM Air was the assigned contractor. Called MGM Air later that day and got a very clear voicemail that they do not return calls during the day because they are out in the field but that they will return the call either in the evenings or early morning. Got a call back early the next morning and they were able to have somebody at my door between 7:30 and 9:30 am that same day. Dereck arrived at 7:30am and was very professional and very polite and courteous. I showed him a report from another company that I had come out to service the unit who discovered it was in fact not operational, he reviewed and got right to work. He was done in about 30 minutes and explained that the capacitor had failed and he had replaced the parts. I don't usually write reviews, but I was very impressed. I understand that setting a time window for appointments and missing them is very very annoying especially for people who need to take off work to be home for the appointment. I am lucky enough to work from home so it's less of an issue for me. So to all those folks who had a bad experience with MGM Air related to punctual / reliable appointments, that was NOT my experience and again I have to call out Dereck for his professionalism and his punctuality. Absolutely unreliable! On Monday an appointment was made for Thursday between 8 a.m. and noon for a broken air conditioner. While I was not thrilled at waiting 4 days in the high 90's heat, I accepted since it must be a busy time. Thursday has arrived and noon has come and gone with NO phone call or explanation for a "no show". I called the company at noon and left a voice message asking for an e.t.a. An hour later no response. I called three times again with no response.Having to start over in search of a company to repair my air after 5 days in the heat is now is only making me "burning". Mark is the service man of all service men and he didn't even come out to my house! 'Twas the weekend before Christmas and our flame sensor went out, what could I do with no heater repair man about?! We called those other guys and these ones too... Mark said they were closed till after Christmas and tomorrow's low is 32! I told Mark my issue, he exclaimed is your husband or boyfriend around?! My Husband flew to the phone and listened so close as Mark walked him through how to solve the problem ourselves. My husband proclaimed his gratitude, hung up the phone and got straight to work. From the time I called until the time Marc was here and had our A/C working again was LESS THAN 2 HOURS!!! He was super nice, very knowledgeable and explained everything well. Cannot begin to tell you how relieved my husband and I were to find Marc. He is knowledgeable, professional, reliable and most importantly, TRUST-WORTHY. We live in a neighborhood where a lot of contractors assume money isn't an issue and most estimates are inflated. We call it the "Steiner Tax". As a professional home inspector, I can tell you, Marc is great. He agreed to drop everything to help out my out-of-state clients when they were concerned when I informed them of a few HVAC items. A friend recommended Mark and MGM, and I'm very glad he did. Long-time lurker on Yelp here. MGM HVAC was the business that finally got me to register and provide a review. I called with an AC issue on the coldest day of the year. 32 degrees as I write this. I was in a hurry due to a house inspection the very next day. However, in the grand scheme of things, definitely NOT an emergency for normal people. Definitely not an emergency for your usual HVAC company. Normally, I would expect them to fit me in on another day. Not Marc. He CHANGED HIS SCHEDULE to fix my AC on the COLDEST DAY OF THE YEAR. He was waiting for me when I arrived at my house 10 minutes early for our appointment. This is a mere 5 hours after I called him the same business day. He came in, presented me my options, and addressed my HVAC issue quickly. Having used other VERY POPULAR HVAC companies in the Austin area, (rhymes with "Dan's") I must say he provided the best service I've come across for an extremely good price. I will use Marc for as long as he will come to my house. He was that good. Our A/C is down on an average of 5 days before Austin MGM Air will come out and fix it. Could care less if we were sitting in a home that is 102 degrees. Marc's famous catch phrase is "we'll fix next Tuesday or Wednesday". Terrible! I have a home warranty company so with that, we're stuck using this yahoo. The times he has been to our house to fix the A/C, he has never had the parts on the truck, which is another day without an air conditioner. Use MGM Air! We did lots of research and got several quotes for the installation of a new central a/c and heating system in an addition of our home. Mark (the owner of the company) came out and beat the other quotes by several thousand dollars. He chose the easiest and simplest route for our system. He simplified everything!! He and his crew were able to schedule us within a few days and were able to handle all the electric and gas lines that were needed to complete the job as well. We could not be happier with our system and will continue to use MGM for all of our a/c and heating needs. Mark is very honest and super reliable! read more

He was good to come out, but three motors later my air conditioner still didn't work.

If I could give more than 5 stars... I would.!!! Within a 24 hour period both of my air conditioning units had stopped cooling/ working. I call Marc right after lunch and he came out later in the evening. And he didn't even charge an emergency fee!!! He got one of the units fixed on the spot and then came back the next afternoon to service the second unit. MGM is now my go to AC company!! Marc is very dependable and knows the AC business. ABSOLUTELY EXCEPTIONAL! If you reside in Steiner Ranch, this is the organization to utilize for all of your HVAC needs! With both of our units suddenly out during 99+ degree temps during the first heat wave of 2018, Mark (CEO & Viper Football Parent) and Team were out immediately on a Friday night to rectify. Per request, wanted a patch job to get through summer. Performed, unfortunate, upstairs unit did not take, and needed to be replaced. Service was scheduled immediately and the Team showed up first thing Monday morning during a severe rain storm to install outside unit and inside coil. Within 2 hours, job complete. 3 hours, home cooled! Absolute professionals, best quote in town, period. As we have used other known names in the past, it is quite refreshing to work with the owner (Local Resident) of the organisation to get the "straight" story and a very no-nonsense approach to completion. A/C stopped working Mon, submitted a claim that day, said they would get back to me in 2 days. Finally called them on the 2nd day (Wed) and said they wouldn't be able to come out until NEXT wed. Been without AC in SUMMER of Austin for a week now. Said they would show up somewhere between 12 and 4pm... a FOUR hour window that I would have to miss work to hang out in an un-airconditioned house. They finally called back at 4pm and said they were running behind schedule, they eventually showed up at 6pm. They at least did have the parts to fix the AC and they fixed it. It would have been a better experience if they said they would just call me when they were on the way and then we could meet them there. read more

We called this guy because of his great reviews on Yelp. We had a horrible experience and paid him $680 for freon. Over half the freon leaked out one month later. He put a very expensive bandaid over a huge problem that needed to be completely repaired. I'm sorry to say he did not do a thorough assessment in finding what was causing our AC not to cool. We ended up calling another company and had the entire unit replaced through them. I do not recommend him for your AC service needs. read more

They are FANTASTIC!! I would give them 6 stars if I could!! OK, It's over 100 degrees and our A/C goes out Thurs. evening - I call First American (our home warrenty service) Thurs. around 4:30p - They tell me North Star Mechanical will be handling my claim - I call North Star Mechanical Friday morning - They send a tech out around 1:30p - He checks and says it is the blower motor and will be back Saturday morning to replace it (leaves around 4:30p) - Shows up around 10:30a Sat. - Bangs around for 3 hrs. leaves around 1:30p without saying a word ??? North Star Mechanical's dispatcher calls to verify an appointment for Monday?? I call First American around 1:30p and tell them their contractor just walked out on the job. They give the contract to Austin MGM Air. Their tech Marc shows up around 9:30 and has the system running in less than an hour!!! (and it wasn't the blower motor). He gave me three options on what I could do with warranty lengths for each option. When I made my decision he gave me an estimate that was practically to the dollar of the final cost. No surprises. I'm so glad we found someone we can trust, especially since we are out of state homeowners. Mark is trustworthy, dependable, accessible and knowledgeable in his trade. We found him through our home warranty service. Our ac unit wasn't cooling and at first, our warranty company sent out another company. Our tenants complained about this other company from the start. After several visits, they said we needed a new ac system. Unfortunately, not everything was covered and our portion seemed unusually high. Since I was paying so much out of pocket, I requested a second opinion so our warranty company sent out Mark from Austin MGM Air. I told him that our tenants have been without air for about a week and a half as other company tried to figure out what problem was. Mark was able to get out to our home almost immediately. As soon as I gave him the go ahead, he set it all up with our warranty company and then had our ac system installed and running in no time. All this was done at at a lower cost than what the first company had quoted me. Turns out the first company was charging us for extra things that Mark said we did not need. We are happy and our tenants are happy for the fast service. Tenants also said that Mark was genuinely concerned about them as he tried with best of his ability to get them up and running ASAP. Recently, we had a new Air conditioning and Heating system installed in our attic replacing a 20 year old unit. Marc personally spent as much time as needed with us helping to choose the correct type and size for our specific needs and always answered our calls quickly. There was no high-pressure to sell us something we did not want or need. We ended up with the highest recommended manufacturer by Consumer Reports, with equipment that fit our needs and budget. Marc always followed up his commitments in time and promises, and we felt very comfortable as the job progressed. His workmen were knowledgeable and left our home clean and free of debris. The job was finished in two days and the workmen stayed each day until the job was completed, regardless of the hour. The first day, he made sure the furnace portion was operable so that we had heat during the cold night. He constantly checked on the work being done which was very comforting. He was personally available for the inspection which passed without a hitch. He took care of some of the paperwork associated with the possible Rebates available and helped us complete the paperwork for those forms we had to submit. The work was done according to code and he obtained all of the permits required. He even set up a time to return in the spring to make sure the Air conditioning unit turned on and worked correctly. The final result was a quiet, well-running system. We would highly recommend him, both for full installations as well as maintenance and servicing of existing systems. read more
