I moved to Austin in February 2026 and expected health care like I received in prior cities I've lived in. I couldn't have been more wrong. First, it took almost four months to get in with a PCP (which isn't necessarily ARC's fault, but they're part of the problem). When I finally got in, FNP Hemmen at ARC Far West was rude, argumentative, says one thing at one visit and denies ever saying it on the second visit (should not have gone back for a second visit, but definitely won't be back for a third), refers you out for literally everything (including all the things my other PCPs have done at my visits with them), and is not afraid to let you know that she does NOT have time for your concerns at her visit, even when there's an empty lobby. The bedside manner was that of a hungry grizzly bear with a thorn in each paw. I will give kudos to the nurse or MA that rooms you and gets your vitals. She was kind both times, even when having to deal with that horrendous provider all day. I can find friendlier, more thorough care elsewhere and will NOT be going back. What a terrible experience -- both times. read more

Well, if that's you this yelp review, it's not meant for you to comment on or to read. If you're a minority and you're looking for good, reputable and caring medical advice and medical attention Austin. Regional clinic, far west, it's not the facility for you. I feel now when I come here. I do not get the best advice or attention. My visits here lasts no longer than 10 to 15 minutes. When we all know when you go to the doctor whether it's for physical checkup or any type of illness that you're having, you're going to have someone really, truly looking to you.And see what's going on with you to make sure everything is right. I come here and pay them a coffee of $30. Only to be out of the facility within 10 to 15 minutes. And that's after taking a day off from work rearranging, my life to fulfill my appointment time. The news about the treatment of minorities in the healthcare system. It's not fake news, you can sit back and watch. Certain doctors interact with white patients and watch them interact with minority patience and see it totally different interaction.. I'm not saying that anyone is racist, but what I am saying is that these doctors do not feel comfortable and assist in you. And giving you the best medical advice. Living in Austin, you don't find too many black doctors. You gotta go to Houston, you gotta go to Dallas. You gotta go to big urban cities to find good reputable medical doctors. So that's my warning to you. If you have felt that same type of treatment, don't be afraid to speak out about it. Let every day one no, including Austin. Regional clinic, I am ending. Margaret L Hemmen, APRN,FNP-C. Worst visit ever. I had a very disappointing experience during my visit. From the moment the doctor came into the room, she made virtually no eye contact with me and seemed completely uninterested in listening to my concerns about my health. I left feeling dismissed, unheard, and as though my questions were an inconvenience to her. When I asked questions, her responses and demeanor made me feel as though I should already know the answers or that my concerns were common sense. No patient should be made to feel uncomfortable for asking questions about their own health. Part of being a healthcare provider is making patients feel heard, respected, and comfortable enough to advocate for themselves. What makes this even more frustrating is how long patients often have to wait for an appointment and how hard we work to afford healthcare, only to finally be seen and walk away feeling like we didn't matter. I work in healthcare myself, and I would never want a patient to feel the way I felt after this appointment. After reading other reviews describing very similar experiences with this doctor, I'm even more disappointed that these concerns appear to be an ongoing issue. If a provider has reached a point where showing basic compassion, patience, and concern for their patients feels like a burden, then perhaps it is time to reconsider whether patient care is still the right profession for them. I sincerely hope the practice takes this feedback seriously because patients deserve providers who listen, communicate, and treat their health concerns with respect. read more

Not sure what happened to this ARC location. It used to be top notch. Now appointments are hard to get, routinely overbooked, with long waits times upon arrival. I might also add a general cavalier attitude amongst the doctors and support staff. There are, of course, exceptions - but the overall experience here has diminished considerably. read more

When I called the clinic's appointment desk, I made sure to list the medications I took and asked to be scheduled with a doctor who could be able to prescribe all of them. The staff assured me that Dr. Beverly Chimene regularly prescribed all the medications I listed to other patients and that she would be able to do the same for me. Upon hearing that, I booked the soonest available appointment, which was three months out. When it came time for my appointment, I had several prescriptions that needed to be refilled, but because of the assurance of the front desk staff, I did not make other arrangements to have them filled. It was to my utter horror when I saw Dr. Chimene, and only had three days left of my anxiety and PTSD medication, that she informed me that she would not fill those specific scripts. There was nothing special about these medications as they were commonly prescribed by other providers. I had a current diagnosis within the past year but instead of receiving services from a psychiatrist, I was seeing a therapist who was not able to write the scripts for me hence my need to establish care with a primary care physician. I absolutely panicked upon hearing that news, but in response to my shock and stress, Dr. Chimene did not react in any empathetic way. It was made quite clear that she did not care at all about the precarious situation she left me in. Furthermore, she did not provide me with alternatives or any referrals to other providers that could help me. This was beyond poor customer service, this bordered on complete negligence. read more

Sad, Not only did they take forever to get to me but my doctor never sent the order to my imaging center. I had to call and get the order sent only for me to be put on hold for close to an HOUR!!! Being busy is one thing but it should not take an hour to get to the phone. read more

Yet again, ARC has screwed up. Their administration and record-keeping are just terrible. I realized today that they erroneously cancelled my appointment in 3 days - an appointment that I have been waiting over four months for. Now, they don't have anything but one appointment at a time that doesn't work for me at the end of May. The next one is at the end of June. This is ridiculous! You always have to wait inordinate amounts of time for appointments, and then they just cancel them on you, And, even when they admit it was their error, they won't do a thing to get you in sooner. They told me to call every morning to see if they had a cancellation. Like anyone has time for that! I did a super basic physical in January that lasted 15 minutes and they charged my insurance over $900. The level of service they provide is absolutely not worth the money they charge. Eight hours I spent on the phone today attempting to get a prescription for insulin refilled and sent to the correct pharmacy to refill it. The ARC nursing staff upon whom this task fell, didn't know what they were doing. I am short of filing a malpractice lawsuit against ARC as I am type II diabetic, insulin dependent, and had run out of Novolog insulin pens. I could have died. The nurse didn't understand how to write the prescription to be sent to the pharmacy. She could not copy the instructions from previous prescriptions which I had filled many times prior to today's request. In light of all of the problems with ARC staff, I contacted the CEO, a Mr. Anas Daghestani. I felt he was more responsible than the other employees there until he failed to answer a question of mine in multiple e-mail requests. It seems a standard practice is to not answer questions where the answer does not align with their position. I personally believe that ARC has violated the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. They never supplied a written explanation of why I was being charged after being advised my only responsibility was a $35 co-pay. The charge totaled $179. Even this amount appears to be way above a reasonable and customary charge since it seems that the charge for this service is typically between $100 and $150, averaging about $125. Additionally, they sent me a late notice after I was told I was not late and after I previously disputed the charge. I won't do business with such a firm. read more

I had knee surgery about a month ago, and Dr. David H. Michel, MD, with Austin Regional Clinic was my surgeon. I can't say enough good things about him! He did a fantastic job, and I was up and walking the same day.......WITHOUT a walker or cane! I have friends that have had knee replacement surgery and they said it took them 4 months to get to where I am, today. He kept me informed, set my expectations, and followed up on me. These doctors push big pharmaceutical and Do Not look at the whole person. Listen to their diagnosis but research curative, preventative, and palliative care and make a real informed choice. Doctors are not gods, they are limited in their knowledge based on how much they keep up with advances and aren't clouded by their narrow political views. Many ARC doctors are limited based on these criteria. I'm very disappointed in my general care at ARC. However, based on the drought of medical professionals in Austin, I doubt one might find anything better here anytime soon. read more

I'm absolutely frustrated and disappointed by how this appointment was handled. My partner had prepared in advance--submitting paperwork, confirming her visit ahead of time, and receiving a confirmation number. But when she arrived, she was told, without any notice or follow-up call, that her appointment had been canceled. If my partner's time can't even be valued, how would anyone truly be valued as a patient here? There was zero effort to check in, clarify anything, or reschedule. No pre-check call to see if there were any changes needed--just a flat cancellation. To make matters worse, I was informed that there were "no physical appointments available until November," yet other appointment types were still available. We will not be returning due to the lack of care shown toward my partner's time, which was treated as invaluable. She even had to take time off work for this visit, and they didn't bother to check in beforehand. Considering the hundreds of other 1 star reviews. I feel like we dodged a bullet. read more

I've been going to ARC for 25 years. I have witnessed a steady decline in customer service and care as it has morphed into a more corporate and private equity driven entity. I will spare readers my long list of ever more frequent disappointments over the years and instead focus on the most recent disappointment in regards to yet another occurrence of making an appointment over the phone only to be surprised to find the appointment day is different than what you were told over the phone. "This happens all the time unfortunately " was what the desk lady told me. The responsibility is on the customer to double check the work of the employee. I wish it has only been as simple as appointment date mistakes. I would suggest anyone considering the "convenience" of a giant corporation with many locations like ARC instead look to a smaller practice who will not treat their patients like they inconvenient customers. I am in a state of disbelief. My primary care physician at this place has refused to spend a few minutes finding out if a measles vaccine, that I'm interested in getting, contains Glutamate, an amino acid I'm hyperallergic to. If I were injected with it, and it contained Glutamate, I'd most likely die, onsite. All she had to do was call the manufacturer. I tried, and they told me they could only give a physician the info. WTH? This doctor, as above, simply told me she was too busy! Anyway, this clinic, and its staff, are hit or miss. They've helped me out, in the past, otherwise this doctor's attitude would get this ARC a one-star rating. I will now be looking for another pcp. Miss "I'm too busy" can step off! I did deep research, online. At least one of the two measles vaccines does, in fact, contain Glutamate. Proceed with caution at this practice. You need to check things out before you let them do anything to you. Do your own research, as I always do. Remember, you're just a number to them, a small part of their income stream. The place is super busy and I can see why there would be complaints with hold time on the phone, not being able to make timely appointments, and doctors rushing to the next patient. Thankfully I have yet to experience any of that yet. I've been in a few times over the last few months and was checked in and seen timely. Both doctors were great and really took the time to listen and provide solutions. Also had lab work done here, x-rays, and covid/flu vaccines. Everyone was helpful and friendly. She has been pleasant to work with and I'm looking forward to deep diving into a few inquiries as they accept Blue Cross Blue Shield. The care there is really good when you get in front of the doctor. That being said , the doctor is frequently late for appointments which may be ok if the staff let people know so you then have the opportunity to decide if you want to wait or reschedule rather than sit and hope you're able to squeeze the appointment in. The nurses are really responsive. MyChart is frequently out or slow. Hold times when calling are unwieldy. If you have a half hour break during your work day that is insufficient to get in touch with someone there I tried to contact the administrator who responded to my review. I really dislike it here. Dr J Garcia is one of the worst doctors I could have imagined. He makes you feel like you're intruding on his plans to be somewhere else. And he's doing you a favor by squeezing you in for your scheduled appointment. He also put an alcoholic patient on Xanax and Ambien. And then told her to limit her drinks to "one or two with dinner." A near-death experience. The ladies at the labs/x-ray desk are a giggling bachelorette party. There may be good doctors here. I've just met one. Dr Walter's is so pleasant. He's professional, and doesn't make you feel rushed. Unfortunately, I think he only does urgent care visits, and is not a PCP from what I understand. We're still looking for a new PCP. ARC is huge, impersonal clinic. I only go there because it's convenient. The admin staff is ambivalent, and the doctors are hit and miss. I've had some completely incompetent physicians at ARC and one very good one (Dr. Frederick is excellent). Doctors in general are hurried and on a tight schedule- don't expect any chit-chat or bedside manner. It's all business. But last time I went to ARC, I was in a huge rush to get back to work and the rush doctor actually helped me meet my rushed schedule. Patient rooms are average. I've been a long-time patient at ARC Far West. I truly appreciate my physician there; he's a great listener, provides thoughtful care, and seems very knowledgeable. Unfortunately, pricing has gotten out of control. I recently had a routine 5-minute telehealth call to coordinate a referral to a specialist, for which i was billed $168. As I'm on a high-deductible plan, the entire cost fell on me. The issue was further compounded when I contacted their billing department enquiring if perhaps a mistake was made, or if this is their typical rate for a 5-minute appointment. In return, I received a response that was complete unintelligible, didn't answer my question, and couldn't be responded to. It was very clear that whoever wrote the response had no idea what they were talking about. They would have been better off using AI. I have no problem paying for quality care, but this pricing system is outrageous. I'd leave for another provider, but I have a sneaking suspicion it's going to be hard to find anywhere else that's much better. Guess I'll be shopping around for a while. read more

Just wanted to update my review and give kudos to another awesome doctor at ARC! I had an office visit with Dr. Anas Daghestani on 4/10/2019 at the ARC Far West location and the 1st thing I noticed about Dr. Daghestani when he walked into the exam room was that he was such a cutie!! I know, I know this piece of info is not very helpful BUT I do have to say it's always an added bonus when the doctor is eye candy! ;) (shhh, don't tell my hubby;) The 2nd thing I noticed about Dr. Daghestani is how soft spoken he is and after introducing himself and shaking my hand he says a few things and then says "tell me about it"..I mean how great are these 4 little words when strung together?! Such a conversation starter :) and Dr. Daghestani was VERY attentive while I was explaining the symptoms I was having and also very thorough with asking me questions once I was done explaining. I also have to say I really appreciated how Dr. Daghestani respected my time..this really stood out to me! This place used to be ok. Probably until right around covid when they turned into a greedy, money making machine. Got charged over $300 (high deductible plan) for a covid/flu test. You know, the one you can get at Walgreens for $25 with no insurance. Ok, maybe they have the more high tech test. That one is $130 at Walgreens. Not $300 with an insurance discount! Plus they don't tell you that it is an expensive test out of pocket so you get a nice surprise bill. At said sick visit, was not prescribed cough medication even though I was coughing a lot. I forgot to ask about it and thought maybe he would just prescribe it. That was a $130 mistake. They didn't prescribe it so when I called back to ask if they could send a prescription for one, they said I had to go in again and pay another visit copay. You know, for the illness that I just visited you for yesterday. Annual visits are hard to schedule, schedule them 3 months out, then they call you a month before your appointment asking you to reschedule, so you reschedule. Now your yearly visit is a 13 month visit. Then they call you again to reschedule. Seriously?? Yearly visit is now a 14 month visit. Plus, it's impossible to get through to anyone. Minimum 30 minute wait on the phone. I'm done. If I were you, I'd look elsewhere for a doctor. read more

I'm not an ARC patient, but I did come here to get my COVID vaccination, so this review will be covering that experience. This is not a drive-thru vaccination, although a few other ARC locations may be. There's a guest check-in booth, where they'll give you a sticker if you're there for a vaccination. You walk in and will be directed to the reception area where you'll fill out a short questionnaire, and they'll take your driver's license and your health insurance card, although they made it clear that the vaccine will be free whether you have insurance or not. Afterwards, they'll direct you to a separate room for vaccinations. There, everyone will be in a lobby either waiting for a vaccine or waiting out their 15 minutes post-vaccine. They spaced out chairs, but there was a lot of people, so a lot had to stand. Everyone was fairly respectful of other's space though. There's also free wifi and you can get the password at the front desk in the waiting area. Once you're called in, the vaccination was super fast. The whole process had to be around 60 seconds. After that, you'll get your proof of vaccination card, and you'll be instructed to wait anywhere in the clinic for your 15 minutes before you can go. The nurse was super nice. Overall, the process was smooth although not as quick as a drive-thru could've been, but I get that it just depends on space. I spent about 30 minutes there, but of course, yymv. read more

Took my son to the after hours clinic for a flu test. The doctor assured us that they would call us that evening to tell us whether or not he had the flu so that he could get Tamiflu if possible. They didn't even run the test until the next day and didn't let us know the results until three days later. But the real kicker is the bill: $657! This is for a five-minute doctor's visit and a flu test! The test alone was $286. For reference, you can get tested for flu for $19.99 at Walgreens. Of course there's no way of knowing what you're going to get charged before the appointment--you don't know until you get the bill afterwards. I could not have imagined that a fully employed adult would be unable to afford one flu test and doctor's visit for her child. These prices are predatory. Do not go to ARC. read more

The lab really sucks, loud laughing and carrying on when they should be working, patients sit out in lobby while they carry on making patients wait so they can socialize with each other. This place is a scam and they will charge you for their "care". Dr. Ramos is the worst doctor I've ever encountered. I filled out two assessment tests for anxiety and depression, she only glanced at them and said wow that's high, no follow up questions or anything. Also I was only there for an ADD assessment because I was told she treated ADD so im not sure why that was addressed. All she did was give me more medication for anxiety and refered me to a psychiatrist who had zero openings for months- super waste of time and money. She also got super condescending twords the end of the visit when I brought up my symptoms and what I thought it was from. Ive even reachedd out to her on the portal with some concerns for the medication she subscribed , it was read same day, it's been two weeks and still no reply. Don't waste your time and money here, you'll get no answers for what you need. *** Also, forgot to say...super privacy issue- when I got home I realized my take home papers for my visit was stapled together with someone else's information and details on their exam...eek. read more

I tore a joint in my finger and called to make an appointment with a finger specialist. When I went to see the doctor he turned out to not be a finger specialist and didnt know anything about finger injuries. Therefore, I had to make another appointment with an actual finger specialist. The staff at the front desk told me to contact billing so that I wouldnt be charged for the first appointment since that I was scheduled with a person that wasnt a specialist despite clearly requesting to see a finger specialist. Billing told me that they would not refund me because I still saw a doctor (again, not the doctor I requested). Now they are trying to bill me $300 for seeing a doctor that i didnt request, that didnt know anythign about finger injuries. ARC and their staff are incompetent and corrupt to say the least. read more
