    snake rescue on s. 2nd
    Julie N.

These guys were great ... here's my story: It was an interesting Fat Tuesday. When the home inspector said 5' long and a 4" girth and used the word "exotic", we had grandiose ideas of someone's lost python under the house on S. 2nd. It went something like this ... The inspector was just entering the crawl space under the house and the snake was right there all coiled up but quickly startled by the inspectors presence. So the big bad snake raised up in the air climbing / moving out of the way quickly. As you can imagine, the inspector did the same and backed out of the space quickly and called the inspection done for the day. I get the call from the buyers agent at 4 pm with the "request" to remove the snake asap so they can complete the inspection. After a few phone calls including city animal service (no), and an exotic pet store (no), I landed on the Austin Reptile Service and they were awesome. They were at the house at 6 and methodically crawled around under the house looking for mr. snake and found him in about 10-15 minutes. They came back out next day to make sure he was the only one. The snake was neither "exotic" nor someone's lost pet nor wide-girthed but he was 4 1/2 feet long and resembled a fat water hose. Mr. (or mrs.) snake was a TX rat snake or bull snake, common and harmless (but they will bite if they're mad). This particular mr. snake will either be used in the Austin Reptile Service educational program or will be released to a more suitable natural environment. Definitely a memorable Fat Tuesday.

I had severe bleach damage from an all over bleach I did myself and tried to cover up with box dyes…read morebut the end result was always an orange. I cut off 6 inches and came here to fix it!!! Faith was an amazing stylist, she used a permanent color on my hair to match my dark roots and did a phenomenal job!! It's been around 4 months since she did it and the color still sticks perfectly!! She was also super sweet and very easy to talk to, we had many light and fun conversations throughout the process. Definitely will come back if I need another appointment!!

I have to unfortunately update my review to 2 stars because my recent experience turned out…read morehorrible and I will not be returning. I am not going to name the individual who worked on me to be respectful to her, but I will say the girl who colored and styled my hair needs a lot more training before she is ready to really work on hair. I left with hair dye all over my forehead, my sideburns were soaked with dye and behind my neck by that wasn't the worst of it. I didn't notice how much dye was left in my hair until I got to my car and started running my fingers through my hair. But I was wondering how the hair stylist working on me didn't notice the dye all over my face? Also, my curls, if you can call them that - turned out horrible with tons of frizz on the top of my head, I absolutely hated the way my hair turned out, total waste of money and time. I walked out spending $125 on a single color process, deep conditioning, styling and a hair product - way too much if you ask me for how things turned out. I understand these people are in training and I get that. The prior hair stylist who worked on my hair at this salon did a great job, but she graduated and suggested this newer gal. I trusted the process, but the process didn't turn out well at all. I will say the new gal who worked on me was kind. I am sure she was trying to do her best, but when dealing with someone's hair the basics like being removing all the dye out of someone's hair so it doesn't stick to their face and remain gooey in their hair is imperative - I needed to really wash my hair when I got home, also knowing how to do basic curls in someone's hair should be fundamental - the gal who worked in me had no idea how to curl hair at all. For those wondering why I didn't say anything during my visit, when I looked in the mirror and saw what a mess my hair was, I just wanted to get out and leave and just never come back, which I won't. Then when I went to the register to get rung up it took forever as I was standing their waiting because they were training another lady how to use the register. I believe I realized while I appreciate the lower price point on service at the salon academy, and understand most of the people working their are in training, it's simply not worth it to me to work with people in training who don't really know what they are doing yet, with the risk of messing up my hair and then walking out unhappy. I would rather pay a higher premium working with an experienced stylist knowing I am walking out feeling good with nice hair. I will not be returning to the salon Acedemy in Georgetown.

My daughter has improved so much in her 2 years with DE, I can't wait to see her continue to grow. You know the mark of a great studio? My daughter was injured just weeks before a big event. The studio owner and instructors found a way to (safely) include her. Studio owner talked me through finding a great sports medicine doctor, too. Who does that? Family.

I was incorrectly charged a $150 tuition fee that should not have been applied to my account…read more Because repeated attempts to reach the facility by phone were unsuccessful, I had to drive 40 minutes to the location to address the issue in person. Unfortunately, my experience upon arrival was extremely disappointing. While seeking assistance with obtaining a refund, I was met with unprofessional behavior from the front desk staff. The employee repeatedly raised her voice, talked over me while I was attempting to speak, called me "snotty," and laughed at me while I was simply requesting to speak with the individual who had the authority to process my refund. Rather than attempting to help resolve the issue, I felt that my concerns were dismissed and that I was treated with a lack of respect and talked down to. The individual stated that because she is the mother of the owner that her actions " are no surprise" and nothing would be done. As a parent, this interaction raised serious concerns about the professionalism and conduct of the staff. I would expect employees who work with children and families to demonstrate patience and respect in all interactions. The behavior I experienced did not reflect that. This has affected my confidence in the facility's ability to care for children. Based on the way I was treated and the ongoing difficulty reaching anyone by phone, I would not feel comfortable leaving my child in their care, especially knowing that I may be unable to reach someone in the event of an emergency. Reliable communication is essential when parents entrust others with the care and safety of their children.
