    Broken foot on loveseat.

First let me say that the movers were pleasant and courteous, but if first impressions are true, I should have went with another company. I sold my home and was deploying overseas and needed someone to pack my house hold goods and move them to storage. Mr. Austin quoted a price over the phone but was to come out and provide an estimate to pack, label and move my goods. He missed the first two appointments (he forgot) but I still gave it a chance. Once he came he agreed he could pack the items, label the boxes and move my goods on the date I needed. When his team showed the first day they stayed 2 hours due to another appointment(they did label boxes that day). The second day, same thing. I needed to get this done and it was too late to pick another mover. On Saturday (move day) they came, wrapped furniture threw everything else into boxes as they were in a hurry. They also ran out of boxes. I ended up giving them some items I could not fit into my storage area. I wasn't pleased with the move, and I called Mr. Austin to speak with Mr. Austin about the way my goods were handled and things went, which he said he'd given me a "discount" for and should have charged more. Fast forward to January 2019. I picked up my goods and brought them to my new home. I have furniture broken and scratched, pieces missing, items thrown randomly into boxes that I haven't even been able to locate yet. The foot to my love seat was broken off (with the screw left in it), and the foot was thrown in a box which I found when I opened the box. I'm still trying to find things like tv remotes. Its slow going as since the boxes were not marked, I am having to leave some things undone and get back to them when I can find the pieces. I have a 35 yr old grandfather clock that has pendulums--they threw the pendulums them (they're now broken and bent) in a box with some extension cords and other miscellaneous items. There is tape residue around a 30 year old wall unit. I did purchase full insurance, but I can tell you that I'm thoroughly disgusted and do not care to deal with this company. This is my experience and I felt it was worth informing others who are looking for a mover/packer. I'm ex-military and have moved many times, but this is the worst experience of them all.

The table was set up by them and not only it was difficult but also heavy

Glad that they took care of my needs but left me a bad case of buyer's remorse at the final cost. I was expecting at most to pay the $750 full load charge but was hit with two surcharges based upon ostensibly the weight/size of several items and the need to utilize a small portion of a 2nd truck. These surcharges were communicated and took the total cost close to $1200 and all for a 10x20 storage unit that was only 75% full. Besides the surcharges, I was disappointed by two things. First the need for a 2nd truck. Items were thrown in haphazardly which if organized better it could have all fit in the 1st truck. Secondly, I naively thought that that furniture items that could be easily repurposed would be donated elsewhere. An antique bench, schoolhouse student desk and another desk were thrown into the truck and I am sure ultimately a landfill somewhere. They were convenient and fast, but far too expensive. I will not use them again, nor can I recommend them. No apology or further contact is necessary unless it comes with a partial refund. Otherwise it is just lip service.

My return was supposed to be label-less, meaning UPS prints the label, but the employee told me I had to print it myself--so I ended up paying for a label I shouldn't have needed in the first place. After that, she assured me I didn't need an additional slip inside the package because she would place one there in case the exterior label got damaged. When the man who seemed to be her supervisor took over, the interaction went downhill fast. His attitude was rude, dismissive, and completely lacking in customer service. He contradicted what the first employee told me, then applied the label carelessly and didn't even properly seal the package using the pre-glued, peel-off adhesive strip. When I asked if he should cover the old label, he snapped that it "didn't matter because it was FedEx," which... still seems like something anyone cautious would do to avoid confusion. He packaged everything so sloppily--including right in front of me--that it honestly felt intentional, as though he was annoyed to even be helping. It was uncomfortable and unprofessional. I really hope other customers don't have to deal with this kind of treatment. Returning a package shouldn't be this complicated, and basic courtesy should not be too much to expect.

I was at the machine for about 20 minutes. I went to the rear of the store to check the clearance section and then started walking toward the front door. As I approached the front door a young man, who I think was the manager ask me was there anything I needed to pay for. I looked at him in awe and said no. If I was on my own time and not on company time that incident would have ended differently. I would have told him how I really felt. He made it seem as if I was stealing something. As a manager I feel as if his training was insufficient for the situation. I feel as if I was racially profiled. I will let my company know what happen and I will not be using Staples again. The Railroad company that I represent spend a lot of money with Staples.

Prior to storage, we elected full coverage insurance and were assured that the company had extensive experience handling and storing antique and high-value furniture for our sizable amount of belongings in a 6k square foot home. Upon delivery, we discovered that the majority of our items were severely broken or damaged, and nearly all were affected by what appeared to be mold or mildew. Moisture readings on our antique furniture measured approximately 60%, and in some cases, moving blankets had adhered to the surfaces. All of this damage was witnessed and assessed by not only their moving team but a manager they sent out to our home the following day who was in complete shock at the staggering amount of damage. After Sandhills filed our insurance claim, for our elected full insurance, we learned from the insurance carrier that the required paperwork was not fulfilled by Sandhills despite being required under their own policy. This administrative oversight voided our full coverage protection and reduced our compensation to $2.50 per pound, which is far below the replacement value of the affected items. When we initially raised this issue, a manager, Pat, assured us it would be corrected, but subsequent calls were not returned, and our attempts to follow up have been unsuccessful. Pat refuses to speak to us and the secretary hung up on us. All of these conversations have been recorded and we have proof of all statements made by the insurance, Sandhills, their movers, managers, and any/all parties involved because NC is a one party consent to record. My husband and I are both 100% disabled Army veterans with four children, one of whom has a severe disability and Sandhills was abundantly aware of this. Following the delivery, our family has experienced health issues consistent with mold exposure. A licensed mold specialist advised us to seal off all affected items to prevent contamination of our newly renovated home, leaving a significant amount of our belongings to include all major furniture such as living room furniture, bedroom sets, mattresses, and dining room furniture unusable. This situation has caused substantial financial, logistical, emotional, and health challenges for our family. While we understand that mistakes can occur, we are shocked that there has been no meaningful resolution or constructive communication to address the matter and ZERO accountability. I tried to contact the owner Jason Birdsall via phone, email, and his Facebook with no response. We hope that by sharing our experience, others will have the information needed to make an informed decision to look elsewhere during a move or storage need. We are now being forced to pay for a lawyer to seek legal representation in this matter. No family should ever have to suffer like this.
