We've been attending Australian Swim School since 2024. I rate this a 4 star instead of a 5 because, objectively, the facility is outdated and is in dire need of sweeping repairs. We've had numerous canceled classes due to the heaters not working, or some other miscellaneous fix that's needed. With that being said, the reason we still take our toddler to this school is because of the staff. We've had incredible instructors like Ms. Bella and our current instructor, Mr. Dylan. They have made us feel so comfortable with her our child in the water. Her improvement and comfortability in the water is a testament to their tutelage. And we believe this level of excellence is cultivated from the top. We've had the good fortune of working directly with Flavio (Manager) for the vast majority of our time at the school. He's the best front facing representative any business could ask for. He's so intentional about making sure families feel seen and heard, and that the kids are always made to feel special. His warmth and general demeanor sets the high standard that permeates throughout the school. His leadership and willingness to meet each family where they are has kept us here and we look forward to seeing our little one continue to thrive under his and his team's guidance. Obviously, we hope there are some investments made into the facility, but in the meantime, we are happy to have found Australian Swim School and would encourage any new parent to trust them with their child. read more

I'm extremely disappointed with how poorly this swim school maintains its facility. The front door has been broken for over a year. They can't keep the door closed while "unlocked," so it is routinely propped open. In the summer this might be tolerable, but in the winter when it's 46f outside the cold air pours directly inside while children are in the pool or getting in and out of the pool wet. I'm sitting there fully dressed, in a jacket, completely dr and I'm cold. I can't imagine how cold the kids are getting out of the pool. This has been going on far too long and is unacceptable from a health and safety standpoint. Maybe there is an agency that oversees this and they can be reported to. What's worse is that staff and coaches are not allowed to complain about these conditions because they'll be reprimanded. That puts parents in the position of watching obvious problems go unaddressed while management does nothing. The lack of concern for the kids wellbeing is frustrating. This isn't an isolated issue. The water fountain is leaking onto the concrete, just wasting water. The bathroom heaters broken for over three years, they now make noise but still don't generate any heat. Recurring pool heating issues The electrical closet constantly emits alarms and whistling noises Yet somehow money was found for a new iPad for checkin while basic infrastructure and safety issues are ignored. The coaches are great, and the kids love the lessons but the facility neglect overshadows everything. Until management prioritizes maintenance and the comfort and safety of children, I cannot recommend this swim school. read more

Decided to start my son in swim lessons now in the hopes of him being able to swim by summertime. I first reached out to another school where we did the mommy and me class. I didn't hear back from them. So, I continued on. I checked out another school but didn't like their pool setting; it was a lap pool attached to a gym. Finally, called Australian Swim School. I had all my questions answered and was easily scheduled for the first free trial lesson in their guppies class. The pool is a good-sized pool on the campus of a private school. It was bright and airy. My son was initially hesitant, but once he entered the pool, he was all smiles the whole time! The class was a 30-minute class with a 1 to 4 ratio. There are benches along the walls in very close vicinity to the pool. After the class ended, my son started getting cold quickly. Off to the side was a high table for changing that had heated light bulbs above. I loved that! We visited the bathroom. There are showers, but just a few, and seemed dated but works. We are officially signed up, and I am so excited to see how my son progresses and how much fun he has! read more

Been with them over a year now. So my 4 year old was really skittish about his head being wet and putting his face in the water, relaxing enough to float on his back. Even at bath time when I wash his hair he is anxious about the water on his face and not being able to breathe. There were kids in his class who wore swim goggles and spent the whole class looking under the water and exploring to the point where they weren't really listening to the teacher and paying attention to the exercises they were doing. DJ is now that kid and able to do back float for a good 30 seconds with no hands holding him underneath his back. He is still the more cautious one of my two kids. My 2 yo started in the parent and me class and omg he cried and cried the entire half hour lesson for months. It was embarrassing and I'd spend the whole class apologizing to the other parents and teachers. He was resistant to being in the water and doing the exercises altogether. Now, because of Daisy (I love her), I can't get him out of the water and he's the model toddler in the class. Other people's kids are the ones off to the side crying with their parents. JJ is a little daredevil and loves jumping into the pool instead of sliding in. He spends most of the class underwater ‍ They are having him dive for rings at the bottom of the pool just to challenge him. He's 2 yo. They have an easy makeup class policy so I never lose my classes if we miss them. We do weekend class so sometimes we are out of town or have an event. The instructors are all older teenagers and they are so good at engaging the kids and being patient. My kids (especially JJ) are little fish now and love being in our pool with us. They're comfortable in the water and have fun now. It is like night and day. Every single skill they learn from day 1 is how to survive if they were to fall in the pool: learning to float on their back, swimming to the edge of the pool, getting out on their own and continuing to make those skills second nature to them. They 100% focus on pool safety. Also they really understand how to overcome children's apprehension of being in the water on an age specific basis. I'm thoroughly impressed with how methodically they go through the classes. Of course I started off in the pool with them so I am being taught these skills myself to reinforce them at home when we are in the pool together. They taught the kids as much as they taught me and my husband and gave us tools to be able to keep them safe when they're with us. I cannot recommend them more highly truly. read more

My plan is in 3 to 4 years to move to Portugal and live on a sailboat. The only problem is that I don't know how to sail or swim. So, I went to the Australian Swim School website to learn more and to sign up. This is one dysfunctional site with classes for platypuses, dolphins etc with no explanation of what that means. After figuring out what class was right for me I signed up (this was painful and the whole process took an hour - mind you, I build websites and have an MBA from Columbia. This is one of the worst business sites I have encountered and I am not just saying that because I help people build websites and generate business from social media. It is truly bad. Nevertheless, I attended two swim lessons and had to reschedule two more. The swim instructors were pretty good and I have improved my swimming substantially. So why, the bad rating. I'm checking my Credit card and I see a renewal charge from them. This is on July 1st. I call immediately and complain. I hate when unethical companies bury renewal in the fine print. They respond that in the fine print it said I had to cancel by the 25th of the preceding month, otherwise they won't refund. Convenient thatchy billed on the 1st. Unethical, shady, not good. Steer clear of these people. If they will do that what won't they do? Is the pool being taken care of? These are thieves. read more

We started with the parent & me program (loved it), then moved up to baby grad, then guppies, and now currently in super frog (5yr old), getting ready to transition again. It's so interesting to see your little one learning these skills. They make it fun too. I notice they're strict to pass someone to the next level if they don't perfect every move. I saw a couple of kids that was so closed but was told not ready yet. I love their App it is easy to use to do make up and cancel classes and transfer to another class. A great way to find a good instructor is to do makeup classes and see whose style fits you the most. We had a lot of good instructors unfortunately they don't stick there long enough. (Ms Madison, Ms Emily, mr ernesto , other 2019 crew) They're mostly good and they're good with kids. Every year there is a price increase but I'm glad to see they put in new heaters this year and some constructions for some TLC. A lot of small kids shriver in the winter when they had to sit on the edge of the wall to jump into the water. read more

Awful experience today. My 4 year old needed to go potty during class and my 3 year old also wanted to get out to go with his brother. The instructor Ernesto physically restricted my 3 year old from getting out and lectured me on my 3 year old needing more confidence away from his brother. Totally out of line and in appropriate. I am absolutely at rage w this place. The instructors are really good but the facility is horrible. The amount of money that goes in to this place, nothing gets done. The heaters r broken all year around. It is 43 degrees now and again after months and months of complains, they say the plan to bring i heaters. Ya right hopefully by the summer right? We love this pool!!! Today was our second class, first one we had with Miranda trainer, today we had the class with Vanessa! Both instructors were amazing! Our baby is 6 months old and she was excited! The trainers are very kind, nice and friendly, the water is very warm and clean! And the guys on the front fest also are very friendly! Instructors here are a hit and miss. Some are good and some aren't. When my child went into the water, he hit his nose on the coping and it bled profusely and he was crying. At the time he was the only kid in class and this instructor looked at him, unconcerned and unsympathetic. Not a ounce of concern and not a single word. No approaching my child to see if he is ok or if there is anything he could do to help. He was about about 8 ft away from us before my kid got inside and stayed that far from us during the whole ordeal. With no one else in the class, he could have at least asked my kid if he was ok. Another example of the callousness here. We were inside the women's bathroom stall and I was helping my child take off his clothes to use the toilet, he bumped his head on the wall and cried. I looked and saw there were 4 nails sticking out by about 1/4" from the wall. I told staff when I saw it. That was 10/11 and today is 10/13, it's still there waiting to pierce another child's head or hand. Again I told staff so let's see if management does something about this. read more

We wanted him to love the water and now because of this school he's horrified. My daughter paid I think close to $700 and for the two times he went, a baby got bit, Matthew shared prices were increased unbeknownst so they could catch up from Covid close down. Manager or whomever was breast feeding (I did no judgement) yet unprofessional for my and my families first experience. Covid has been sad, we've lost our jobs, etc... understood. I have had the worst experience coming here and I will NEVER come back. First of all, these people rarely pick up the phone or return calls. That should have been a red flag when I signed up. I really wanted my son to learn to swim so I decided to come here instead of Water Whisperer Swim school because this place has an indoor pool. Big mistake! I bought a package of three sessions and used only two. My son said the water was cold and didn't wanna be there alone. The swim instructor and staff were cold about my son crying and would ask me to leave him alone in the water and let him cry so he learns. That was not my approach and the day working there kept asking me to leave. I decided to take him out of swimming and wait a few months until he's older. I emailed and called the swim school and they didn't return my calls when I left a message to cancel. I called today and Paul the owner was not nice. He said he is charging me for another month and would not refund me. He says I never called and left a message. I did call numerous times and left messages. He is all about money and I sense that now. I have changed my mind and will not be sending him back for swim school in the summer time. We wanted our 1 year old son to get comfortable in the pool and friends suggested we go to swim classes. After scouring mommy groups and friends for recommendations, we decided to try out Australian Swim School. I called and spoke with Paul - he answered all of my questions and got me set up for a class. We have been going a few months to class with Christian. Christian is great! He always knows the kiddos names and personally interacts with them trying to make them comfortable if they are being fussy. We have learned a lot already in the few months we have been here. Fraud Alert! Double charged me for 5 months and two months after making the discovery they have yet to refund my money. For two months now I have been told I would be refunded but it has not happened yet. I was more than understanding for the first month and then when the money never came back to me I started calling them out on it. Nobody every answers the phones in their corporate office and I think I will need to take them to small claims court or dispute it with the credit card company. As far as teaching kids how to swim that is also a joke. Bottom line is they do not teach kids how to swim. They teach kids how to be "comfortable in the water". While they may have a decent program for a kid who already know how to swim, it is a waste of time if you want your child who does not know how to swim to learn how to swim. read more

We have been bringing our kids for weekly classes for about two months now. They are still in the basic level, but they have definitely become more comfortable in the water and have a better understanding of water safety. Coming to class more frequently would certainly help, but they are doing great based on how often we are coming. After one year of group practices and recently trying with private instructor from different school, I can confidently give 5 plus to Australian school. I have been to the Australian Swim School for years with my son (now 5, started at 9 months) and my son, (now 2.5, started at 9) months. We have loved this place for a long time which is why we have stayed for so long. Madison, John, Omar and Chris are all good teachers. So, that's the good stuff. Recently though, I noticed that my son stopped enjoying swim class when Shauna became his teacher. She lacks personality, doesn't smile and isn't advancing my son's skills beyond where he's at. I have voiced my concerns about Shauna multiple times , and to the management's credit, they tried to address the problem by coaching Shauna. Still, this isn't enough. After 4 consecutive years of swim classes here, I am dropping my son from the program because they won't change out this teacher, and there isn't another time over the weekend when both my kids can have their classes simultaneously. It's really too bad as up until this problem, I wouldn't have said a bad thing about this place. In summary - your teacher does matter. Stick with those I named and you'll be happy. read more

I'd been taking my child here for over a year now... amazing progress. We've been so fortunate to have Omar... I've seen some other instructors during the busy summer months, and they seem good, but he's AMAZING with our child. He has a great attitude, always smiling, you can tell he has fun with it. As a parent, the scary part for me was, at first, my child going under water. They start slowly and before you know it, your child is okay with it. Mine, now, loves going under, almost too much! They warm your child up with some songs, then some fun exercises, then some swim drills to get them to use their arms and legs, then winding down with toys and more songs. Rarely do I see screaming kids, most are really into it. I saw some reviews that I'm not sure if there policy has changed or if they're misinformed. There definitely is a change area, a big one; men's and women's. There are four showers in the men's room (which can get boiling hot if you turn it too far, so be careful) as well as racks, benches, and bathrooms. There is also a heated, padded 10' changing table near the pool, for kids with diapers. There are also shoe cubbies under that too. The make-up policy isn't the best though... it's $10 unless your class falls on a holiday or they cancel it the day of. If you have any conflict with your schedule (even with notice beforehand), you're stuck paying if you want to make-up that class. What is ironic is that they've cancelled a number of times for various reasons and at the last second, usually after I've talked about class all morning and my child is super excited. To me, it should be no fees if you call ahead with enough time, not leaving them hanging, then you should be able to book a class that has an open space... for FREE. Or, if they want to charge $10 when it's on you, when it's on them, they should give you the option of getting tuition back. Anyway... still, it's far cheaper than most places, even most YMCA's. It's $69 a month and I think really worth it. I'm not sure what the other parent experienced about getting charged some fee or something but I just returned after a couple months off (traveling) and there were no fees or anything, just picked right back up. I adore this program. Instructor Matthew is soo patience and fun. He was able to get my very energetic daughter to learn and like doing it! He was able to get a gaggle of lil girls to cooperate and follow his instructions. My daughter is pool safe and on her way to learning the strokes and the proper way to swim. My son Joined the swimming class a month ago and he is been in 4 sessions so far. He gets very excited each time we go and he has been learning how to be water safe already. He is 6 years old and the fact that he can get in the water by himself and parent doesn't have to get in the water with him is very convenient. Other swim classes required parents in the water which was very uncomfortable. The staff are very respectful and helpful and so nice with kids. I totally recommend Australian Swimming Class. The school is the most disorganized school I have ever been to. Teachers come and go except for Maddison who has been there for many years. I have 2 kids enrolled in the school and we have been attending it for a year. Madison is really good but she mostly teaches baby grad classes that are for younger kids. She is really really great. My daughter is on a different level and Her teachers are not bad but change way too often to even get to know them. Now why I'm giving 2 stars is because I have been waitlisted on a certain class for almost a year and only to find out that they have no wait list apparently? My friend that joined the school months later based on my recommendation got into a class that I have been waitlisted for for month. When I brought it up to Alexis, the manager, she just said oh really, I'm not sure how that happened. Then again I saw new people in the class I wanted and I asked Alexis yet again how come? And she told me they have been waiting since summer and I said that I have been waiting since last March!!! Almost a year! She said nothing to me. I'm going to post this on all social media outlets may be the management above (if it exists at all at this school) fixes their waiting list or lack of their staff professionalism. read more

I give them 5 stars for flexibility. As a parent and a working parent with a child who gets colds etcetera I need flexibility on a dime. They are very nice there they want the kids to move up from group to group. Some of the teachers are new and are not as good as others and some of the classes are can be a little chaotic but over all I recommend. read more

Thus place works if you have one, maybe two kids. If you have more kids than that the organization becomes a nightmare. The scheduling system is completely unreliable and staff are college kids with little administrative oversight which can lead to repetitive errors in scheduling and billing with little to no accountability. read more

My kids have been taking swim classes here for a year. Over the course of the last few months quality and supervision has gone down. They have lost numerous good teachers. There are still a few good ones but classes are limited. The supervision is something that rubs me the wrong way. Kids are playing in the pool with out supervision. There are signs that are posted but no one enforces it. Kids are throwing toys in the pool while parents sit there and do nothing. A little girl (younger than two) is scooping water from the pool and pouring it into the water fountain. This is all good until she falls in! The main office people are nice but I've been in the office where kids/babies are causing a ruckus in there. The staff is babysitting and causing mayhem. Luckily, my kids have very good instructors but someone has to address the laxness of supervision. read more
