I have been a customer here for 4 years. The salon is always clean and customer service is fantastic! Sam, Alli, Brittany, etc, etc, they are all so friendly. They never look annoyed and NEVER rush me to get in and out. I even stop by to say hello when not tanning since they make me feel like one of the girls. I have the most fantastic tan thanks to Sam's tanning tips!! This salon is nowhere near my neighborhood, and even though there is another Australian Tan nearby I drive to the Campbell salon because of all the above. This was my second time starting a package or a membership with the Australian tan location in Campbell. The first time I had a membership I was very frustrated by the cancellation process. I was hesitant to start a new membership this time. However I was very pleasantly surprised by the number of services that have been included at this location since the last time I was there. I was also very pleased and impressed with Anjanett. She very calmly explained to me the various packages, levels, and prices. She even re-explained to me the cancellation process as I told her I did not want to be an ongoing member. I did not feel like she was pushing product or services on me. And she genuinely was just a very kind and nice person. The location is clean from what I can tell from my first visit. This was the second tanning salon I had tried out for a month as I am trying to find one that I would like to purchase a membership for. The facilities are usually clean although a few times, I don't believe the beds were wiped down as thoroughly as I would have liked them to. I love that they have such a large variety of beds available for use but there are only a couple speedier ones which are usually occupied. They keep charging you even as after you cancel. They say we didn't get the cancel form in time for this month it will cancel next month, then we didn't get the form, then they say it's cancelled and surprise another charge on your card, call them again and they say it's cancelled and yet another charge the next month and they won't reimburse you. So that's four months of theft by Australian tan. So I called fraud dept and they took of charges. Australian tan did not fight back to get the charges put back on, it only takes a phone call. They know they are stealing and don't want to expose themselves by fighting fraudulent charges by themselves. The credit card fraud dept said what they are doing is a common thing some company's do. I asked for their address not the P.O. box where there office is, the place where the people kept stealing from my card and she said I can't give it to you for security reasons. Asked for her name she wouldn't give it to me. Sounds like they have really pissed some people off and are a bit paranoid. read more

I've only been here twice, with the "bring a friend" pass. So, I belong to another tanning place a few miles from here. I got their membership through a Living Social deal and it was the 1st time Ive ever been tanning, so I really didnt know what else was out there. When I came to Australian Tanning with my friend for the 1st time I was totally impressed. Its gorgeous inside and the high end technology was interesting to me. They can control the booths from their lobby computers. They are able to tell exactly how many minutes someone has left and give a current wait time, if need be. Very clean, very quiet, very private. Both times, the girls were absolutely sweet. When my membership at my current tanning sh*t hole runs out, I am coming here. read more

I'm surprised this location doesn't have five stars. I've been going here for almost three years now and I've never had a bad experience. All the girls that work here are super sweet and always accommodating. I used to work in a tanning salon a while ago and I remember how unprofessional we would be, not here. The girls are always up cleaning, restocking, or helping out with customers. I used to do the beds but recently switched to a spray tanning membership. I was definitely hesitant at spraying because I've seen many come out looking orange and I wanted to avoid that. I can now say, Australian has THE BEST spray tanning booths. My tan always look even and gorgeous. And most importantly not orange. Pricing is the same as everywhere but I come here for the service. Great location, great girls! read more

Great place to get a great tan!! I use the Willow Glen location and it is always very clean and the girls are always very friendly. The only reason I took off a star is because if you go around 3-5 it is SUPER busy and you end up waiting for quite awhile. Other than that though it is a great place to tan!! I really like this place. The beds are new, the place is extremely clean, the staff is very nice. They really care about you and your skin. You have to take this survey/quiz when you first start tanning there, and they recommend you to the best bed for your skin. They ask all sorts of questions, and recommend the best amount of time and time increments for you. Plus, when I was going every other day for awhile last year, the woman who was always there when I went made an effort to remember my name and greet me by it everytime I walked in the door. I do have to say that this place can be a little bit pricier than other salons, but nothing compares to the service and cleanliness that you get here. If I'm going to stick my transparent and sensitive skin under UV lights, I'd like to trust the place I'm doing it at!! 5 Stars! Everyone has their own opinion on what constitutes 5 star service but for me it consists of price, locations, quality, and of course customer service. The entire staff greets me by first name when I walk in which is super sweet. They are always in a good mood and whenever I have questions about a bed or product they take the time to answer without rushing through it. In the past when I went tanning to other salons there would be girls behind the counter twirling their hair seeming annoyed that they even had to be there, but not at Australian Tan! A lot of people complain about price, especially in this economy, but if it's something that helps you look and feel better then you can't really put a price on that. I find it affordable as often as I go and there are a lot of options to help you out. There is a huge variety of beds. The upgrades are affordable if you want them and I usually buy them so I have my choice of beds. I always walk out better looking than walking in. The tan stays too! I recommend buying some lotion - it def helps! I LOVE the fact that you can tan at ANY of their several locations if you're a member. I usually go to Campbell because it is closest to my house but occasionally my friends and I will go in their neighborhoods so it's very convenient for everyone. They have contests in store and on FB and I even won a free bottle of lotion last month that works really great. Lot of monthly promotions too. No complaints here! read more

I joined about a week ago and have been pleased. The place is clean, I rarely have to wait, and the beds are effective. The salespeople are very helpful, knowledgeable, and not at all the ditsy girls some previous reviews made them out to be. The packages are reasonably priced and there are a variety of choices. You have to mail a form to the corporate offices to cancel your membership. Although this is a bit of an annoyance, the procedures were thoroughly explained and the salesgirl helped me figure out how I will be able to join for a month and a half, get the best deal, and cancel my membership when I leave the area. I use to live in Santa Cruz and there were no Australian Tans there, so I went to a place in Capitola called Paradise Tanning. I like to use them as a template of grading all tanning salons, cause they are simply the best.. But this isn't a review about them so ill get to it. I had tanned here (Saratoga location) once before and thought it was meh just okay. But since I recently moved close to the Campbell one I thought I'd give this place a shot. And I really enjoy it. To me, everything is about customer service. And the ladies that work here are all so friendly & helpful. Any questions I have about my package or upgrading or putting a hold on my account they answer thoroughly. Same goes about lotions and tanning questions. I usually go in the evenings because I'm a stay at home mom and its when I have some free time to myself. One girl that works there is super friendly and remembers my name. I really think having nice, friendly staff MAKES a business. Especially in one that's in beauty. The prices are decent, the place is always clean (never used the bathroom, though). And even if I have to wait for a bed, which I never mind doing, they've got all the latest magazines so waiting doesnt feel like a pain! This place used to have a really great staff but the once great girls have been replaced by airheaded bimbos who couldn't care less about customer service. I was annoyed when they informed me that I had to mail my request to cancel my membership into the corporate office. This was NOT in my contract nor was I ever informed of this change. I know for a fact that last time I canceled I just paid the cancellation fee in the store and that was that. Their cancellation policy is ruinous. To cancel, you have to mail in a card via certified mail?! Which is extremely unprofessional and talking to other tanning salons, none of them do that. SO, I emailed a scanned copy of their card and also mailed it out. Watch out. A person is stupid if they go to here. If the business was any good, they would be professional. I cancelled because their light bulbs suck and they made me wait when other beds were available. I know the whole upgraded beds deal but other tanning salons have let me use those beds when the economy ones were busy even though I am not in an upgraded membership. Kind of like how rental car companies give a free upgrade when the economy car is not available. It is a good business practice and this company does not do good business practices as evident by their cancellation policy. read more

This place is a joke. I use to LOVE tanning here until they started messing up my billing. Somehow over the last few months they lost of billing info so I owe $70+ on my account & can't use my point till it's paid. How is that my problem? I paid for points I can't even use unless I pay for the monthly fee. I would much rather buy points somewhere else for half the amount of money then pay $70 dollars! Super happy to have majority of their locations re-opened during this whole Covid situation. Unfortunately, they were put in the position of keeping some stores closed & mitigating their costs by trying to run a skeleton crew in the shops that were allowed to open. It's totally disheartening to watch one employee attempt to handle check-ins, answer phones & clean beds in the age of Covid. It's impossible to do all of that efficiently while working alone. So, it is no surprise that when I made an in-person reservation, for my next session, it was nowhere to be found when I arrived on my next visit?!?! It is also no surprise how difficult it is to get a live person on the phone to make a reservation while its impossible to leave a message because "the mailbox is full". I'm not sure I'd expect a call back, even if I could leave a message. So, I tried their live chat option on their website & selected "make an appointment". I got this message "Someone will be with you shortly. You are number 1 in the queue. Your wait time will be approximately 5 minute(s). Thank you for your patience." Needless to say, they have no one manning the live chat because no one ever responded after 20-30 minutes. The employees are super apologetic and explain all the technical difficulties they are dealing with, with the reservation requirements. I'm certainly sympathetic to the situation but, after this much difficulties, I felt the need to make others aware, so they can prepare for the extra effort and wait times they'll incur during this period. read more

I came here for the summer so when I was outside I didn't blind people with the glare from my amazingly white forehead, arms and shins. I have to admit, I was a little taken aback by their sales routine. If you are going to do the monthly, you have to decide upfront what level bed you'll be doing and then pay the monthly fee for the highest level bed you will use, regardless of whether you'll use it every time? Whatever. I will say, this place is clean as can be, which made me really happy. This review is more for the company and less for the staff/location I give 2 stars cause the girls that work here are very friendly and helpful, and the facility is always clean. I was very disappointed in the strict policy's and rules of the company though. I signed up for a 6 month level 3 bed and was happy with my tanning results but unfortunately had to cancel my membership. When I signed up the girl working in the front explained that if I needed to freeze my account for any reason I could, similar to the gym, but when i tried to do this I was informed that I had to give 2 weeks notice. I unexpectedly had to leave town and was going to be gone for about 6 weeks and did not want to pay for my membership when I wasn't going to use it. The girls gave me the corporate number and they were RUDE! I canceled my membership cause they refused to work with me and my given situation. The cancellation policy is a JOKE. They basically rob you into keeping a membership by making is extremely challenging to cancel. You have to MAIL in your cancelation, this is 2016 who requires a piece of mail which by the way they 'recommend' you send certified mail ($) because if they don't receive it, you are still responsible for the next month. Oh and don't forget it is to be there not post marked but physically at there office, by a certain date at the beginning of month or else it is to late and you're charged yet again. Robbery. So I really love tanning here. I just got my membership a few weeks ago and the staff is super nice, and the place is clean and very relaxing. BUT, there has been one thing that really ticked me off and think its only fair to share it so others can be aware. Initially when i signed up I was told I would get one month for free. And I am almost POSITIVE I was told it would be the first month (June for me) but maybe I misheard. Anyways, I woke up this morning to find the $20 taken out of my bank account and low and behold IT OVER DREW MY ACCOUNT! So you can imagine how happy I was about that. So when I called I was told I should've been given some sort of form to fill out and send in and that would give me the month of JANUARY for free. This really pissed me off because I was NEVER given that form whatsoever or told about it. The person i talked to really didn't seem sorry at all. LOVE Australian Tan! After moving here from Sacramento, I was having such a hard time finding a nice, clean tanning salon that wasn't crazy-expensive. At Australian, I pay about $40 a month unlimited and it's so worth it! I've gone to multiple locations and all rooms have been clean, with a fresh towel for me. I love how they have multiple locations, so I can go tanning no matter which part of SJ I'm in. As far as locations go, this Campbell one is my fave. It's close to my house (always a plus) and the girls are super nice here (as opposed to the one on Saratoga- ehhhh not so nice). The girls here always tell me about specials or discounts that are going on and make great suggestions (without being pushy). They even remember my name too before I even check in ! I am changing my review based on the customer service I was given upon my cancellation. I was told that indeed I hadn't been able to use my membership and that was something they felt badly about. The girl that helped me then gave me two free spray tans to use after my last day of membership so they at least addressed the issue on my exit. I still think there could have been better ways to deal with it at the corporate level. I have been tanning here for sometime now. I started out at the location on Blossomhill and just recently transfered to this one. I have never had any issues what so ever. I love the place, the beds and the people. Not so sure about some of these compaints. Some are just out of line. Exampl "When I initially agreed to sign up for the $20 per month unlimited deal they never told me it would continue to be charged to my account", did you just read what you typed? My wife said I was turning a bit of a pinkish-white, so I checked my nuts at the door and signed up for the monthly. Actually, this place has a lot of other guys tanning here, and the staff are great. The line for the lowest level beds is never that long, and the place is immaculate. It is also very affordable for the Grand Opening (now going on for 2 months+) sale; under $20 for unlimited tanning. I am now addicted and would recommend to anyone in the area. read more

I've been coming here now non-stop for about 2 years. Always given awesome service every single time. The girls are great on letting me know the new specials, to save $$ or upgrade. Which it seems every season/holiday/end of the year they always have some kind of deal going on. The rooms and beds are never dirty, smell fresh, and ready. They're great on letting the clients know how long of a wait there is... If there even is one & when a client is finished they go clean it right away (not lag). Samantha & Paige are the best.
