My son (14) was discharged from Silver Oaks yesterday. As a parent, you will never feel "good"…read moreabout sending your child to an in-patient facility. But, as a parent of a child struggling with mental health issues, there may be a time where it is absolutely necessary. Due to our location and the timing of available in-patient care, Silver Oaks was really our only option. Reading other Google and Yelp reviews gave us serious reservations about leaving our child here, but I am happy to report that he had a perfectly fine 7 day treatment. These sorts of places are not 5-star resorts. Communication with your child is very limited: There is only one hour of in-person visitation per week. There are only a few opportunities for phone conversations per day (limited to 5-10 minutes per call max) and the child must call out to speak to you, you will not have much luck calling in during the specified phone times. All of this being said, he was safe, well taken care of and received some necessary counseling, group therapy and an adjustment to his meds. This is something that is incredibly hard to accept, but there does come a time in these scenarios when parents can no longer handle the load and need professionals to step in. In response to some other reviews of verbal abuse, lost items or unapproved meds being administered: We had some underwear that was lost by the staff and had to drop more off. That was it. No other issues during his stay. My criticism of Silver Oaks is that there was an inconsistency across the board in terms of which therapist or social worker we would get updates from. It was really whomever was on-staff. This resulted in a lack of continuity and consistency and his treatment likely suffered a bit from this. At discharge, we were handed a stack of papers and the next steps (PHP or IOP) were completely put in our hands to arrange. They made suggestions, but this step was not set into motion by Silver Oaks. As parents in a crisis situation, having a professional's guidance through the next steps in his mental health treatment would have been very valuable. Good luck to you all and god bless.

After they overdosed her, they called me to try to get consent. Then told me nonchalantly they couldn't wake her up at 1 pm. Thankfully, my brother went there, and she was in serious condition. They brought her to him, slumped in a wheelchair, not even in her own clothes. He told them to call an ambulance. They said it would take 2 hours. My brother called 911 himself, and they arrived thankfully in a couple of minutes. They had past medical records they never consulted. I called the moment she arrived there to talk to Tejal Batel. She didn't bother to call me for 2 days. My brother drove 2 hours to see her on Thursday, and they refused to let him see her. I tried calling several times on Friday and could never talk to her; it always went to voicemail, and they never returned calls. They were overmedicating her since she got there. On Friday, I spoke to Tejal Batel and authorized 2 prescriptions for her. That evening, they gave her 2 drugs I agreed to plus FIVE more powerful drugs, all sedating. My mother is still hospitalized 5 days after they overdosed her. I just got her discharge paperwork; no word of being overdosed. AVOID this incompetent facility. I am disgusted and shocked at the treatment she received.

I am shocked to see all the negative reviews…read more I was inpatient recently, and it had been a long time coming. No one in my family took my issues seriously until I lost control. I was inpatient for 7 days. I was super nervous and uncomfortable at first, but from the moment I walked in back everyone was so nice and caring to me. The groups and the 1 on 1's were really helpful. My doctor saw me twice while I was there, I saw my psychiatrist every day, and the nurses and behavioral staff always checked on me. Groups were also very helpful and I had a ton of supportive people there with me. The only reason I don't give 5 stars was because when I arrived around midnight for my assessment, 3 staff members came to the door and were kind of cold to me. They were the first people I saw when I arrived and the way they acted made me want to turn around and leave, but I decided to stay and it was the best decision I've ever made. If it weren't for linden oaks, I wouldn't be here today, and I mean that.

Then when you're in your room, all you can do is read in color and journal. Which to me definitely doesn't help with thoughts or urges it makes them a lot worse. Then when I tried to talk to the girl right across from me They at me. Like even when you try to socialize. Then we're not even allowed outside. Winch to me is so f**cked up like it was nice outside. Then when you do have a mental breakdown, nobody cares. They only check on you every 15 minutes. They don't even say anything. So you just have to deal with it. Like THAT IS SO MESSED UP LIKE THIS IS YOUR JOB. Then another part I thought was messed up. Is when someone would freak out and a lot of nurses came into the unit and the police officer. They would just tell everyone go to their room or we where probably all ready there like we were for most of the time which made even more people freak out. Winch caused everyone to freak it out. And fhe staff didn't talk to us or even check on us. Then at night people would be crying or talking really loud and it was just really scary. And low-key pmo. Like we couldn't even close are doors they where wide open. Then if you didn't go to a group or you self harmed in there you couldn't leave unit you had to stay in your room WINCH IS SO MESSED UP LIKE FUCKING HELP US NOT KEEP US IN OUR ROOM. Then girls be warned if your period there the men act like kids they freak out about it like act like the adult you are. Next people there said the meanest shit and the staff would not care like that's how fights happen Just saying... and when my parents would visit me I would beg them to take me home and cry for hours. And finally, when I went home, they saw all self harm on my legs I did in there, my mom has a huge regret of ever sending me there I told my mom this SHE WAS PISSED. And for my people who struggle with addiction the staff don't care they bring zyn in and don't hide it they bring there vapes there like we weren't dumb and didn't know what it is so yeah, Then the worst thing I saw in there was this 12-year-old girl being strapped down to a chair and injected because she was freaking out like OMG NO. And because she ripped paint off the walls like my girly is a queen for that like if you're not gonna give us anything to do that's what you get. .But there's just a lot of other things that I could go on about, but I would just go somewhere else. Because the staff is primarily composed of Caucasian women, they responded as Caucasian women usually do, They did not take the time to impartially investigate the situation in its entirety. My trauma reaction was to refuse to leave the room, so the group session could be continued. So the staff decided to move the session to another room and the Caucasian woman agreed to go. This is another white power structure play, the white power structure will favor those who will play their game of feigned-surrender; meaning because I was refusing to give up my seat to another patient and refused to leave the room - I was deemed the problem. I was so triggered I was unable to request tools to help me to calm down. I have experienced over five decades of white supremacy and was in treatment for a myriad of reasons, one of which was workplace bullying at the hands of Caucasian women, so yeah in that moment I struggled to calm down. Eventually I was asked to leave because I yelled and cussed while speaking with one of the medical site directors. I take full responsibility for my yelling and cussing. I wish I did not raise my voice and cuss because treatment should be a safe space for all.
