Our five month old son woke up at 2am with raspy, strained breathing that sounded so scary. We went to urgent care right when they opened, checked in, and were seen within 45 minutes. (There were about five families in front of us that had checked in first, but we got seen before them because we had a baby under a year old that was having breathing problems.) Once they checked his weight, oxygen levels, and heart rate, they sped up the process since it seemed serious. Within minutes there were three wonderful nurses and NPs who were helping us out and wasting no time... They gave him Tylenol for his fever, an oxygen treatment for his breathing, and a steroid for his lungs. There was a night and day difference in his breathing after the breathing treatment. Praise the Lord for modern medicine and treatments like this. It is so scary when your baby is sick and struggling to breathe, and the fact that they immediately took him under their wing was so comforting. They also took the time to educate my husband and I on what the illness was, and how to continue treating it when we got home. (We're first-time parents so this was greatly appreciated.) I'm so thankful that this was our first experience at a children's urgent care...especially during a time that felt so scary and unknown. To the team at Children's Mercy: THANK YOU!!! You are doing tough, tiresome, momentous work--and I'm sure you see what seems like a million kids during cold and flu season--but know that your efforts and kindness are SEEN and SO appreciated. You are doing life-changing, valuable work. It means the world to exhausted, scared parents like us. Thank you.

The typical urgent care gripes are definitely present... long waits and some less-than-enthused receptionists BUT the care from nurses and doctors has always been 10/10. They don't overprescribe antibiotics. They truly tailor their care to the individual child. We've been impressed and are so grateful to have this option.

I have had only exceptional experiences with Dr. Rahto and his team taking great care of my health needs. But yesterday was especially important for me as I came into the office in crisis mode regarding my health issues and how that has/is impacting my job/career, my life, and my future - and they made sure that I was well taken care of and spent the extra time with me in order to do so. They were incredibly professional, patient, knowledgeable, and genuinely compassionate - something that's rare to find these days as most other medical experiences make you feel like just a number. They made me feel like family. Hayley took the extra time and attention to detail to help me fill out medical paperwork and I felt truly cared for and supported every step of the way. She was incredibly patient with me as I asked many questions and knowledgeable in guiding me through it - I appreciate that more than you know. Thank you all again for the exceptional care and kindness - you've earned every one of these five stars!

The front desk staff and medical staff who took my vitals were both friendly, prompt and helpful! While my vitals were being checked, the attending physician, Dr. Peterson chimed in as we joked around, she recognized me at the yoga place we both attend. Funny, I didn't recognize her but recognized me. I was so nervous going in but after the initial introduction at the hallway with Dr. Peterson, I felt much more at ease while she treated the infection. She was very thorough, attentive and took great length to explain the aftercare at home and medication for the infection. I highly recommend this Urgent Care in Olathe on 134th Street for the quality care they provide. ~ M. Lightner

But my son needed to be seen. I called the facility twice and spoke to a delightful woman on the other end who answered my questions and gave me directions. She wasn't pushy or rude despite calling more than once. The interactions with the front desk staff, the nurse (Susan ?), the x-ray tech (Amy?) and the doctor was extremely pleasant. They were patient, kind, and didn't seem to rush or cut corners. Even though the foot wasn't broken and we ended up leaving with an air cast and the rest/ice run down, I felt the appointment was productive and was confident with the diagnosis and recommendations given. Fast forward, we needed a note for school. The original fax didn't go through correctly. I called the next day to ask if they could resend the note. Now, I know they were busy because they put me on hold. Despite this, the receptionist who answered the phone was kind, responsive, and quick to resend the information I needed. Not once did I feel like I was an inconvenience which is rare in the world of medicine. Patience and kindness make such a big difference. Thanks for making what could have been a miserable experience all around, a pleasant one.

Signed up for a slot to be seen because I was worried that I had a punctured ear drum. 7/17/2022…read more The nurse practitioner called me before I came in at 9:12am. She was very dismissive and even after hearing what happened to me the last time I had a puncture (horrible pain, horrible bilateral infection, had to have a procedure done by an ENT, 3 rounds of antibiotics, pain meds, couldn't hear, and panic attacks), told me she would not prescribe an oral antibiotic because it was too soon for an infection to have developed and "that's not how antibiotics work." She stated that even for a perforation, ear drops are not recommended. When I asked what could be the possible reason that I was in excruciating pain just 4 hrs after the rupture happened last time if infections take 2 days to develop, the response was "It doesn't look like you were seen by anyone in Saint Luke's Health System for that, so I would be unable to comment on what happened before, I can only address what's happening now." She said there would not be anything she could do for me since I did not have an infection yet. The implication was clearly "Don't come in." Not a bit of compassion. I saw a doctor at a different urgent care who told me the nurse practitioner's medical advice was INCORRECT and unprofessional. She was concerned that it was someone in her system and if it had been she would have "called and yelled at them". Her words. My drum was not perforated, yet the doctor prescribed me antibiotic ear drops prophylactically based on my history. I would not trust the bit@h you have working there to treat my DOG.
