My fiancé and I were loyal customers to Hani for awhile now. He had worked on my 2017 Grand Cherokee more than a handful of times. A couple times the issues came back and he was there to guarantee his work every time. He was awesome! Until he wasn't. The final time we had used his service, my car was shaking and he diagnosed the issue as the alternator. So he quotes us $520 and says I'll replace the alternator and this will be the end of the shaking. When he finishes working on my car, he tells us he's tested it and drove the car and all is well. The second I turn my car on, the shaking is still there and I drove to the end of my street and the check engine light came back on. We texted him and told him and said we'd like him to fix the issue before we pay (and we'd like the fix to last at least an hour) and we'd pay for this service and then eventually ask for him to come take another look at it because the issue is still there. He said, "that's not how I operate." We cannot afford to take the car to the dealer or any reputable business storefront right now (hence using a mobile mechanic in the first place). So, we really needed a break on the price because we still have to pay for the issue to get fixed elsewhere. Hani said he'd come take out his new alternator and put my old alternator back in. Well, he took his alternator out and left mine in the car in the photo. Never texted us that he was done. Didn't answer our calls afterwards. Honestly, if I had been a one time customer I'd understand and not even bother with this Yelp review. But, I've chosen to do repeat business time and time again with Hani and I feel like that wasn't considered at all. I've always paid in full and on time. But - he's always delivered a fix each time. This time was the first time he didn't fix the issue and we wanted to pay when the issue was fixed (again, even if it was fixed just for a short while, we would have paid immediately. It was like nothing had been touched). He decided to leave me stranded instead since he knew we probably weren't going to use him again. Thanks! They charged me a bit more because after looking under my hood, they told me the previous mechanic (Hani) took an extra bracket and some extra hardware that needed to be replaced for the alternator to be put in place. I drive a BMW i3 w/ Range Extender. I rarely use the gas motor in the car, but it has been overdue for an oil change for over 2 years. Why did I not know about this company sooner?! I had always been taking my car to its regular service appts at the dealership I bought it at. Recently though I had been noticing my brakes squeaking, I complained about it to my dealership and not only did they say they saw nothing wrong they also told me they no longer had record of when I replaced my brakes in the first place with their service dept I knew something needed to be fixed and Auto America showed me why my brakes were squeaking so bad and put in new brake pads. I ended up adding in an oil change as well. I felt the prices were extremely fair especially for a mobile auto service. I originally gave a 5 star review because I thought that everything was done right when Hani came to install my front brake pads on my FJ Cruiser. I also mentioned that the SUV steering would shake when braking downhill. But, he told me to balance and rotate tires and which I did both after getting brake pads in the front. Called and got estimates from other mechanics that said that he should have just bought the entire kit with rotors and pads and done it all at once. I supposedly have a warranty for this, but when I called to have it fixed he wanted to charged me $195 to fix something that should have been done right the first time and not be billed twice. Used Yelp's online quote request for rear brakes and rotors for my Subaru, and Hani (the owner) responded promptly with a parts a labor breakdown quote. His prices were *extemely reasonable*. I asked a follow up question regarding the brand of rotors and pads, and was satisfied that Hani had good experiences with the brand he uses (and he warrants his work for 12 months). We set an appointment for a tech to come out and the tech was on time (and sent a message while he was on his way). Work was performed in my driveway, and finished within the hour. Walked out to my car to go to work and it wouldn't start. Of course on a day that I had back to back meetings. So I did my usual and called AAA. After finding out the wait was well over an hour I Ubered to work and figured I'd find a way to deal with it later. I found Hani at Auto America on Yelp and called. I figured cutting out the pain and time of a tow was worth whatever up charge I had to pay to get at home service. I figured it was the starter. Then he followed me to the auto parts store, got me a discount on the battery and installed it in the parking lot. After researching symptoms on the Internet I posted a request for alternator repair quote on Yelp and within 10 minutes got a message from Mani (at 10:30pm on Friday night!). I never used services of mobile mechanics before and was slightly uncomfortable, but Mani patiently and professionally answered all my 'what if' questions. Unreliable and unresponsive, gives a time window and waits until after that window to reschedule for the next day. Anything you ask him to fix he just guesses what one issue might be and confidently tells you that it will be fixed and when it's not fixed he claims that it was necessary but now there are "extra issues" so it just becomes a never ending money hole. I've never left a negative review or really felt I needed to leave a review ever. But there's a lot of people that don't know much about cars and I don't want people to be taken advantage of. A couple of times he's come out to check on a couple things, turned out there was nothing wrong and he doesn't charge me for his time. He is super reliable, easy to get a hold of, always on time, and has been following COVID-19 protocol - masks, gloves, distance, etc. His prices are also very reasonable, he shows you before and after pictures and explains what he does to make the repairs. Hani is probably my favorite mechanic of all time, and I've known many. First, he comes to you, so I don't waste half a day at some mechanic shop. He's very knowledgeable. He's helped me change out my wheel axle, replaced brakes and, most amazingly, recommended that I pump premium gas to clean out my catalytic converter. After 4 months, the engine light turned off; in other words, it worked, saving me not having to replace potentially 3 catalytic converters, each costing $800.
