went in for an oil change and to have a clickomg noise looked at. I was told it would be 65$. I agreed. Then proceeded to ask about the clicking. although the gentleman did tell me what he thought was wrong he then proceeded to say he couldn't help me until January to have it looked at. and then when paying I notice there was an option for regular oil change. I asked why I was not offered the cheaper option and he proceeded to say I could go for more miles this way. I told him I was well aware but asked again why I wasn't offered both. he said "he doesn't keep the regular oil stocked". just seemed very odd. read more

This is a great place to get a smog check/certification. What really impressed me about their service was that they had to move all these cars around just to do the smog procedure with my truck. Out of three garage ports, there's only one stall that had the smog equipment. So the mechanics started swapping cars out of garage stalls, into their little parking lot, and back into another stall...just to accommodate mine. After moving cars around, the procedure went fairly quick. We didn't even have to wait long to receive electronic confirmation from the state. Smog inspection costs $29.99. I ended up paying $39.99 total due to state certification and a smog electronic tranfer fee. Tai has a wealth of knowledge about auto mechanics. He's also a very down-to-earth guy that you can trust. Auto Capitol Service is located in the Valero (now American) gas station on Snell and Capitol Expressway. They do full service foreign and domestic auto repair. They're open everyday except for Sundays. read more

Honest. I come here from Sunnyvale for Tai. Worth the drive/wait. He doesn't play games like trying to jack up your bill or expand the scope of repairs. Treats everyone the same. Doesn't look at women or someone with less knowledge as an additional sales opportunity like the people at higher volume sales places. This is the only person I refer my friends to. WORSE CARWASH EVER! They have a hand carwash service here so I thought that I would try them out and the experience was unbelievably BAD. Not only did they keep hitting my vehicle with the power washer which resulted in a scratch but they even failed an attempt at vacuuming. There was large debris left on the rugs and seats (I had cleared the vehicle of everything minus dust and debris prior to arrival). They don't have a listing for this Car Wash service which they are operating at the gas station, otherwise I would have posted to it directly. I asked one of the guys if he could vacuum up the debris and he walked away like he couldn't understand me but in English told the other guy helping with the clean "Don't Worry" then shouted for me to go elsewhere like if they had done me a favor. We bring our 2012 Toyota Corolla here for all of its services. Tai and his team provide top-notch customer service. I would highly recommend them and their quality and honest work. Do be aware that the shop does not have a enclosed waiting area so you either need to wait for your car outside or get picked up and come back. Tai is a good guy who you can trust. As an example, we thought our brakes needed to be replaced b/c they were squeaking so much and instead he told us to come back after several thousand more miles. Tai has been taking care of cars for a long time!!! When I moved to the Santa Cruz area, there was no question where I would go if I needed work done on my cars. Tai is very straight forward. He'll tell you very quickly what is wrong, what needs to be done, and what the costs are. He explains things in simple terms so that things makes sense. Because I am not familiar with the workings of a car, prior to meeting Tai, the biggest concern for me was getting repairs I did not need. I have never gotten that feeling with Tai. He will usually point things out that he sees as potential problems down the road, and leaves it to me to make call whether or not to do repairs right away or wait a little longer. The best thing I can say is Tai is good peeps. Friendly. Honest. Fair. Trustworthy. I don't have a go-to mechanic but I think I've found one. I came in to get one of my cars smogged and the service couldn't be any easier or better. The whole process was quick and painless. He talked me through the procedure as he was performing the smog check and was willing to answer my questions about other services I might need (CV boot replacement, suspension work on my other car.)
