My good friend highly recommended Doug and like others have also mentioned, I am happy to report, I have found my forever mechanic. I went in to diagnose jerking, poor acceleration and noticeably poor MPG and Doug got back to me within 30 mins of dropping my car off not only making an incredibly accurate diagnosis, he was also honest enough to check the honda service bulletins to check if this was a known issue and sure enough it was! He was kind enough to print out the bulletin, put my complaint and diagnostic in writing and honest enough to send me off to the honda garage so it would be taken care of under the bulletins extended warranty. Other than a small diagnosis charge which was incredibly reasonable Honda agreed with his diagnosis and the repair cost me ZERO. If you are looking for an honest, skilled and talented mechanic, look no further. Doug helped fix my acura mdx 2008. He was very friendly and helpful. My battery kept draining overnight and i would have to jumpstart it each day. Doug found the problem (was a electrical issue bluetooth drainage - so he shut it off) and fixed it and then recharged my battery overnight to full capacity. Car has been starting every time since. Made a morning appointment for A/C diagnosis 3 days in advance. Was told I could pick up car same day. 5:30 rolled by nothing. Called, was told would be done at 6pm. Showed up 6 waited 20 minutes. No work done due to mechanical issues with shop equipment. Left car over night. Picked car up with no improvements and $300 less in my pocket for diagnosis and refrigerant refill. I am told that's normal for the mechanics time and material. So it wasn't anything to get butt hurt over. However, when driving off I noticed 1/16th less gas in my tank AND my electronically controlled suspension was changed form Touring to Sport. It's a turbo charged sports car. I can only imagine how hard they drove my car. My fault I should have reset the peak boost level to zero to then be able to know how much fun their joy ride was. On the bright side, Doug seemed like a nice guy and I believe he gave me a competitive quote for the work I needed done. On the dark side, I won't be going back to them for said work. read more

Awesome and fast great service! Doug's shop was suggested to me by a friend. It's hard to find a mechanic that you can trust in the bay area that won't rip you off. I had my Honda civic in because my lights were flickering funny so he determined it was an alternator issue. He gave me the option to get a high powered alternator or a regular one but suggested that I'd get the high powered one. I opted for the high powered one due to the sound system setup I have in the car. I had my car back by the next day and he even helped me tune my clutch at no extra charge! I've had my car here twice for some repairs and he's always taken care of me and given me fair advice on what to do with my car. Now that my TSX is out of warranty, I wanted to switch to an independent mechanic and stop going to the dealer (disclaimer: Doug MAY do Acura warranty service too, I just made an assumption he didn't but it's worth checking). I found Doug and he's well worth the drive from SF. I had a broken HID light that he resolved for potentially hundreds less than the dealer, and was also very quick and gave me an accurate completion time estimate. I was super happy with my 45k mile service for a Lexus GX470. I found Doug on Yelp. Called him about 9am. Dropped my car off a little after 10am. I got a call around noon saying my front brakes needed replacement. I agreed. At 6:30 that day I picked my car up. On top of this, he helped me program my car for needed services, replaced a battery in my key and offered a 15% discount to first time customers. He is a one man company doing the work himself. So if you have read my other reviews on Yelp, then you already know how meticulous I am. I first called Doug up on a seat that would not recline on my CL Type S. I was pretty upset about this, and the job was rather expensive, but Doug took care of it asap and much cheaper than the dealer. The second time I had an issue with my car was recently when it stalled out as I was driving! Sux! I immediately called Doug since he gained my trust on the 1st job, and boy was it an even better experience this time around. See the thing with Doug is he won't actually do work on your car UNLESS he feels like it needs it. For example, prior to this little issue that I had with my car stalling ,and being that my car was already over 90k (the recommended interval to change the timing belt) I called Doug and asked him if he could do it for me. After I told him I keep the car garaged, and that my Acura is mainly a night/weekend car, he honestly told me that I was o.k and my car did not need it yet. Who does that!!?!?!? What mechanic wouldn't jump at the opportunity to do a job that is easily close to $1000.00 bucks. Well, it sure as heck is not Doug Fabris. Ok well this review is getting kind of lengthy, so I brought my car in for Doug to look at it one evening. Being that I wasn't off until 6 p.m, he hung around til about 8 p.m to look at my car. After he got done diagnosing my car, he suggested I change the spark plugs and some other part of which I cannot recall at the moment. Anyhow, point being is that, again, what mechanic suggests you do your own work?!!? He didn't jump at the opportunity to do it for me. At that point and being that I am afraid to touch my own car, I asked Doug how much he would charge me to do that job and then I left my car there with him. When I picked my car up two days later, he gave me a discount, less than what he originally quoted me! Being retired from the car business, I know how important it is to use a factory trained mechanic. So I did my "insider" research. As it turns out, Doug is a factory trained Master Tech that specialized in return cases. Those are vehicles that have come back a couple of times, often from other dealerships on a factory referral. They are the tough cases that other mechanics could not diagnose, repair or complete. Well, THAT'S the guy I want working on my car!! Turns out, he now has his own shop, so off I went. Doug does not disappoint. He is courteous and knowledgeable with a very clean facility. Last time I came in for a scheduled service, he was on-time, handled my extra problem and even called in a guy to remove a door ding while my car was at his shop. I was thrilled that he considered my time and handled it all in one visit. Every time Doug has worked on my cars, he goes that extra mile. Because of that type of service and his extensive experience/training, I have no problem driving across the bay from Pleasanton. If you are reading these reviews, you're probably looking for a new or dependable shop. Being from that business I am pickier than most, so take it from me, you will not be disappointed. You will be able to drop off your car with no worries. This shop will remember your car, you get the same mechanic and service writer, the lot is secured, plus you are not working with a commissioned dealership so the prices are very fair. Oh and double plus, your car will never come back with grease smudges on the interior or dirty shoe smudges on the mats (my hot button). Give this place a try. Wow this guy stuck by my side against these evil insurance companies that didn't want to honor my HID lighting damage that I deserve. His prices are much cheaper then Acura dealership and he is 10X more trustworthy then any other mechanics I have dealt with. With Doug's help I was able to locate the exact problem with the lighting damage and finally get the money from Geico to fix my 2003 Acura TL's front end damage. Not only was Doug fast, courteous and thorough, his personality was such that I knew immediately I could trust him. We had only owned the vehicle for 3 years and hadn't really had any repairs or major service performed and unfortunately it was that time. I was looking for a mechanic for my wife's MDX i came across Acura by Doug on Yelp i read the reviews an was concerned about a review from Andrew G. So I looked at Andrews other reviews. Seems he is negative 50% of the time. Then I read the rest oh Acura by Doug's reviews which were all 5 star ratings. I took the time to visit the shop after work one day and checked it out. At first I liked the gated secure parking. I then walked into the shop and it is very clean and looked organized. I met Doug and after speaking for a few minutes I was pretty comfortable with his honesty and professionalism. I asked him about the review from Andrew G. And as we all know, there are always two sides of a story. Doug was happy to give me his side of the story. Long story short, as of today Doug has worked on my wifes car 4 times and every time she are satisfied. I've also had him work on my Camaro and Toyota truck with great results. Doug solved my computer controlled power steering problem in one quick visit after the dealer had claimed it was a tire problem. Dealer didn't even bother to connect the car to the scanner. Doug quickly determined that by putting the car on the scanner he could reset the steering and fix the pull, which is what he did. I never thought to post anything on here about the shop, but after seeing these 2 reviews saying how awesome Doug's shop was... I had to put in my two cents. I got screwed for about $6-7000. I went in there because I thought I bent my valves... I did a diagnostic at autozone, and based on the codes and what others told me... I made the conclusion that my valves were bent. I took the car to Acura by Doug assuming it would cost around $2000. He calls me back basically saying, great news it isn't your valves! Here I am thinking Doug just saved me all this money... puts the engine back together, then calls me later on in the day saying to me that it was indeed my valves and he would need to keep the car longer, as well as charge me even more for his mistake. FINALLY, the car is done... I go to pick up the car and Doug isn't there to give me a quick test drive. Instead, his partner releases the car to me. I drive the car off the lot into the street and it dies... I coast to the side of the road. I call Doug, and he has no idea why it would do that. Had to have my car towed back to the shop. Finally Doug checks out the car, and gets back to me. He tells me that it's going to cost an additional $3000 to fix something that wasn't even my fault. The only thing wrong was that I had bent valves. I could have replaced the entire engine for half the cost of what Doug charged me. I ended up getting my car back, and losing almost $7000. It doesn't end here... a week later I drove my car up El Camino... I rarely drive the car because I take public transportation during the week. As I'm driving, I start hearing a loud knocking sound... sounds pretty bad, like my engine is banging around. I refused to take the car back to Doug in fear of what he would f*ck up next. I find out that he didn't put all the screws back to mount the engine properly!!!!! I don't know if he did this on purpose to f*ck with me because I got so angry on the phone with him, but he did it. As much as I wanted to take Acura by Doug to small claims court, it would be another headache that I just didn't want. Hope that this message helps anyone who is looking for a shop to go to. Don't go to Acura by Doug. Maybe for little things like an oil change, it aint a big deal, but for anything serious, i wouldn't trust him. Not that Doug is a bad guy, I got the sense that he is a good guy... and I hope that he truly is a good guy. I just don't think he really knows what he's doing. read more
