it took me some time to sit down and write this, but I finally made the time! If you're looking for a place to take your car, do yourself a favor and literally go anywhere else. In fact, come to me first! I'm sure I could do what you need for a quarter of the price. I brought in my Ford F150 because the AC wasn't blowing. The owner chatted with me, said he'd take a look. The diagnostic fee seemed steep, but he reassured me that he hated shops that rip people off, so I gave him a chance. As a woman, I'm always cautious in repair shops because men tend to assume we know less, so his words made me feel a bit better. Well, it's pretty ironic that he bashes shops for overcharging, because he did exactly that! The guy charged me $430 just to look at the blower motor (which, by the way, is located right under the glove compartment), mess with some wires, and slap some duct tape on them to make it temporarily work. $430 for 20 minutes of 'work,' if that! He had the nerve to charge $278 for labor alone. Honestly, if I made that kind of money doing next to nothing for 20 minutes, I'd be living large. And of course, within a week, my AC stopped working again. No surprise there--he didn't actually fix it; he just put a band-aid on it Save yourself the frustration, money, and time. This place doesn't deserve your business, and based on my experience, they definitely don't deserve your trust. Do yourself a favor and steer clear! read more

Here is the summary: For over 7 months Michael Anthony Genardini, the owner of On Track Automotive said he'd fix our car, but he never even ordered the part, which I learned after forcing Mike to let me talk to his part dealer. Our insurance company, USAA, noted Mike had a big motive to hang onto our car indefinitely as he got $25 a day for storage, which was undisclosed to us until 12/30/2022. Mike ended up getting $4300.25 for storage, and he would have only made about $1000 if he'd actually done the repair. Here's the detailed account: Mid-May our 2011 Toyota Prius catalytic converter was stolen. I called Mike and asked if he could replace our catalytic converter for our 2011 Prius, and he said "yes, I can get the part and have it fixed in a week". So we had our car towed to his shop. Then a few days later he said "I was wrong and it'll be 8-12 weeks to get the part". We asked if we should have the car towed away until he got the part and he said "no problem, just leave the car here". Then I called mid-July to ask for an update and he said "I'm still not able to get the part but we're in the queue and I should have the part in late August". He also stressed us out by misplacing our paperwork. I called again in late August and he said "oh this part is really hard to get, but I'll have the part on October 24th" and then he kept throwing a red-herring saying USAA is hard to get ahold of, and that's the opposite of reality. USAA is the easiest. I called Mike again in mid-October and he says "the part ETA is now late-November". I asked him if we've been in the queue since mid-May and he said "yes, we've been in the queue since mid-May but the part is scarce and it's just taking a long time for them to be made". I asked him for his parts dealer contact info, and he gave me the run around for weeks and finally gave me a fake contact. Late-November came and went with no word from Mike and of course no fixed car. Mid-December I called Mike and he said "yes, the parts dealer still doesn't have the part" so I asked him again for the name of his parts dealer. He said "my parts dealer is Victory Toyota in San Bruno they're the one I've been in the queue to get the part" and I confirmed the name and location with him several times. I called Victory Toyota and they said "yes, we do sell catalytic converters to the public or repair shops, and yes we know Mike from On Track Automotive, but no we don't have any order from Mike or anyone at On Track Automotive for a late model Toyota Prius catalytic converter". A few days before Christmas I called USAA and arranged to have our car towed to another repair shop. I then called Mike and let him know we're taking our business elsewhere, and we want him to release our car to the tow company USAA will send over. After a week I don't hear anything, so I call USAA. It turns out Mike had accepted the tow contract, and once again did nothing but collect more storage fees. I let USAA know that Mike is not to be trusted at all, and they must get another tow company. So yeah that sucked! read more

Very transparent with pricing and work necessary to get your car going! Mike always picks up the phone, even when he has Covid! I could bring my car in for a small tire pressure problem or a normal service and I know the prices are fair and the work is solid. The problem today was that I clearly had a leak in my tire. Mike and his mechanic took my car in immediately, found 3 screws and plugged up my tire while I waited. Then the best surprise of the day: because I bought my tires from them they take care of this stuff free of charge! Another time, he was doing an oil change for us and I told him that we were going to the mountains and we needed our tires changed but we were leaving in 2 days. He was able to provide the right all weather tires before our trip and made sure our car was ready before we headed out to the snow. Highly recommend! 2 times since moving to Burlingame have I been stuck on the side of I-280 with a problem I knew I couldn't fix myself. 2 times did we easily call Mike at On Track Automotive, after being one of the only auto shops to respond to our inquiries, and get taken in day of for extremely high quality and personable auto service. My car went from the dashboard looking like a christmas tree to no lights at all. I've only had the chance to talk with Mike extensively, but I appreciate his willingness to share information and lead a team of well knowledged mechanics. Went for a trip to Yosemite and ended it in San Francisco and by the time we arrived our brakes were grinding! Metal on metal is what it sounded like. Before our trip back to Orange County we needed them replaced and stumbled upon this shop! They were able to get us in right away. For a full replacement of the rotor and brakes were a good price and did not take long at all. Customer service is friendly and it felt very honest too. Mike came through! When I was suddenly stranded on the side of the road with no coolant two days before a holiday weekend I had myself towed to On Track knowing the great work they did for me previously. Mike explained that they were super busy and and it would be a day or two before they could even look at the car. I explained to Mike that I had planned to use the car the next afternoon for a weekend trip. He helped me get a car rental reservation at a reasonable rate. I was disappointed to have to rent a car for the weekend but things happen. Then Mike began to work his magic. Knowing I needed the car he began to prioritize work based on when people needed it. Found the problem. Got his parts supplier into action and 24 hours after I brought it in (right when I had originally planned to leave for vacation) Mike handed me back my car. With a bill that was probably 1/2 of what the dealer would have charged me. Mike is my hero. I'll be back. read more

I met Mike and On Track Automotive about 10 years ago when I had just moved to the area and received a disappointing quote from a local dealer on some wheel bearing work. Mike suggested some stepped approaches to doing the work and arrived at quotes about half of what the dealer was. Honest and excellent mechanics. Reasonable prices. If you think a place is ripping you off, bring your car here for a second opinion. One shop told us we needed to replace the head gasket for $3900 which sounded odd, and we knew that was way overpriced. Brought it to On Track just thinking we would get a reasonable price, but they verified that nothing was even wrong with the head gasket and only had to change the transmission fluid. Saved us thousands of dollars! They also spent time explaining things to us which is always great. This is where we're bringing our own car from now on. read more

My car was having trouble for several weeks and it was worked on by a couple different places outside of the area but still the problem was not fixed. Needless to say I was in a panic!!! I was stuck on the side of the road a couple of times when I was finally able to make it to see Mike and Jesus. It was early Saturday morning and they both dropped everything to help me get back on the road as quickly as possible. Found this spot on Yelp and because of the reviews decided to check it out to get an oil change. As we all know, most auto shops are notorious for upselling services and parts. My only upset with this place is that I was told yesterday that they had non synthetic oil which is what I wanted to pay for at $69, what I wasn't told is that they didn't have anymore because most people need synthetic and the fact that it's too expansive to buy oil just for me so they only buy in bulk, which is what I was told when I was upsold on the full synthetic at $99. Só from there I went from a quote of $69 to $99, and I was out of luck. Also, I was told it would take 20-30 minutes and that I could wait around. I came in around 8:15am and ended up leaving around 10:40am, so 2.5 hours later just for an oil change. Next, I was also called an hour after I dropped off the car and was told that they had just started working on my car and noticed a lot of extra services needed like air filters, new brakes and pads, and new battery. I decided to do the air filter only since I knew it was time but that was an additional $50 when I could have bought 2 filters for $10 on Amazon and installed myself with no knowledge. I'm happy about the fact that extra time was taken to educate me on the importance of a few services and would definitely come back but I would recommend being pretty upfront with what you're going to spend during your visit and for which services you're going to spend for. My total quote of I did all the services would have been around $1500 plus some hidden fees, but I only opted in for oil change of $99 and $50 oil filter. read more

Funny enough, I didn't even get my car worked on by these guys BUT I had to leave a review because of how awesome and honest Mike is! I just popped in with transmission issues I was having with my 2015 Ford Focus. After asking about the issues, Mike immediately asked the mileage as well. After finding out it was under 50k, he told me that he didn't want me wasting money when he was fairly sure my car would be covered by Ford itself (manufacturer's warranty). I've had my car repaired here several times over the course of two years, mostly due to my car not being able to pass smog. On the first occasion I had a Catalytic converter and EGR Valve replaced. The team here was able to get my car to pass smog within 48 hours (not including the time I had to wait for parts to ship out). Recently, I purchased another car from out of state and needed it to pass smog. Unfortunately it failed, and I needed to register the car ASAP since it had no plates. I was really in a hurry. Luckily, since I've had an amazing experience here before, I knew where to go as soon as the smog technician told me I needed a repair. I only had to wait 30 minutes on a busy Tuesday morning for them to fix my emergency repair, and after that I went back to get my car smogged and was able to successfully register it.
