The owner didn't mention ay additional charges. When I went to the shop , the owner told me I need to pay additional $40 dollars for oil recycling which is not mentioned on the groupon website. I told him I can accept the charge and I need the receipt with the $40 additional charge to follow up with groupon about it. The owner said I am not interested in the deal anymore and asked me to leave and get a refund from groupon. I also noticed the owner increased the break fluid flush price on groupon from $160 to $240 after I left the shop today. It's a really bad experience for customers that the owner can change his mind and reject the service. Update for owner's review below "a vehicle that is directly not covered in the advertisement" , groupon adversisement doesn't mention any special vehicle price. After the owner told me to charge additional $40, I was confused and later accepted the charge while telling him to get the receipt for reference then I can follow up with groupon. After that, the owner refused to do the service. I guess the owner don't want his practice to be exposed to groupon. The owner could have listed the additional charge on the groupon website in the beginning to let customers be clear about all the cost. I had the time though, so I stuck around and waited a bit before they were able to squeeze me in for the smog check (less than 30 min wait). The service was super quick and all the employees I interacted with were professional and polite. I'll likely be back next time I need service or a smog check (but with a phone appointment)!

They were very thorough with their notes and car inspections. That's definitely what you want out of a mechanic shop. There's a deal till the end of the month for a free alignment if you purchase new shocks and struts from them with install. They use KYB struts and shocks, which is a highly reputable brand for those who are unfamiliar. For a daily driver, this is more than enough. I called Wednesday, was able to get scheduled in the following Monday, 5 days later. Dropped the car off at 8AM which took less than 5min. Got a call back around 2:15PM same day that my car was done. Picked it up, paid, and this process took less than 10min. The thing I love about C&T is how thorough they are, as mentioned earlier. They take the time to inspect the vehicle and note anything strange. This information is then passed onto the customer once they pick up their car. They even found a loose screw that was creating a small brake fluid leak in one of my calipers and they tightened and cleaned it up without my prior knowledge. Thank you so much! Even the slightest sounds the car makes, they will inspect and find the source without you having to ask. This is what the community needs, a great Toyota mechanic that is honest, straightforward, and thorough. Keep up the excellent work!

DO NOT BRING YOUR CLASSIC CAR TO THIS SHOP! I brought my classic muscle car here for some simple repairs. I had exhaust leaks on both of my headers, a new battery had died for some unexplained strange reason, and since the car was going to the shop I added a new brake booster and a line lock to the work items. I dropped my car off and this simple job took a month to complete. I called on many occasions and mike just couldn't tell me when it would be done. It just kept dragging on and on. The really bad part about leaving your car here for so long is that they park it across the street everyday to make room in the shop. Nobody told me this beforehand. I just assumed it would be indoors during the days, but I only found out after going to the shop a few times and saw how they operate. When they said they needed to keep the car for a while, I asked if my car would be locked indoors at night and mike said yes it would. But nobody offered to tell me it would be baking in the 80 degree sun 5 days a week for a month!!! WTF!!! I feel guilty sometimes driving my classic car to work because it would be baking in the sun all day as I'm working, and here was my car baking all day for a month and I didn't even know it. My vinyl top took a beating for no good reason at all. The work they did on my car should have taken 1 day, 2 at the most. In addition to that my car was filthy from being outside all the time and when I picked it up mike had the gall to tell me it just got like that today because the wind was blowing. Clearly he thinks his customers are idiots. Classic cars are just not a priority in this shop. You will have to wat forever to get even simple things done and your car will be baking in the sun in the meantime. And now we get to the part where their work sucks. The above job cost me a total of around $2500 bucks. Yep, you read that right. Around $400 of that fee was for them to check out the electrical wiring on the car from front to back; because of the dead battery issue. Mike said the wiring looked good and that everything checked out. Then after picking up my car I noticed that the entire rear bank of brake lights was dead. Whether the headlights were on or not, none of the lights were working. I brought the car back in, they looked at it and the mechanic right away denied that it was anything they did...even though they added new wiring under the dash for the line lock. Mike asked me to wait a couple of hours and then finally also denied that it was anything they did, and that they did not know what was wrong. Again...WTF!!! Not only that, but Mike made the ridiculous suggestion that the brake lights must not have been working before I brought the car in. I can't drive the car without brake lights...I'll get pulled over every time, so of course they were working before. And shouldn't the $400 they charged me to check the electrical have confirmed that. Again, Mike assumes the customer is always an incorrect idiot with a deep wallet for him to pick. Mike finally made the comment that I was lucky I wasn't being charged for them to look a the brake light issue and that they might be able to fix it, but I would have to pay for that work and I would have to leave the car again. Not in a million years would I do that. Im happy to take my business elsewhere. Their attitude was completely wrong. They should have admitted that they might have caused the problem with the brake lights and that they would fix it and if it wasn't related to the work they did they would let me know...that's it! But not these guys. Don't go to this shop unless you're OK with the following: - You'll be condescended to and talked to like your an idiot - You have plenty of money to burn - You are always wrong - Your car is not a priority and you won't need it anytime soon - Your car will bake in the sun everyday - You're willing to pay for the mistakes that they make STAY AWAY FROM ONTRACK AUTOMOTIVE!!! Steve, Mike and Bobby joined their partnership with a single goal: create a repair shop that propagates a quality of service beyond reproach....i have a transportation services business that includes helping customers maintain their cars...it would be impossible to operate my business without supreme confidence in an automotive repair shop....over the past 10 years, On-Track has consistently managed a wide range of cars for me and my customers....they listen, questions, diagnose, explain, follow-up and assure your satisfaction with thorough execution.... they have managed to compliment my business with a high level of customer service...luckily i live a few blocks from their shop and frequently need last minute help...they will p/u cars, drop cars, make assessments based on my comments and give me sound advice on the best solution, always with an eye toward satisfaction.... the peace of mind knowing my satisfaction is at the top of their agenda is immeasurable...it is simply not feasible expending energy worrying about proper upkeep of your car.... though i have fielded questions about their rates and service standards, they are unquestionably at the top of peninsula automotive repair shops....i deal with them, via my own cars and customers cars, between 50 and 100 times a year....the time saved, quality of service and comfort level has allowed me to totally omit auto repairs as a worrisome consideration....life is too short..... their quality of service and rate of billing is absolutely in line with the expectation of satisfaction you will be comfortable with....of course there are less expensive shops in less convenient locations, but thats a matter of choice everyone has to weigh for themselves..... for my time and money, On-Track is the only choice that makes sense...... read more

I just moved here from New York and for the first time had a major problem with my car, and couldn't bring it to our trusted NY mechanic (which is hard to find these days). It was making a loud noise in any gear while driving and my father (who still lives in NY) told me that it's most likely the wheel bearing and it'd have to be replaced. He also said there would most likely be damage to other parts of the car, since I waited a nice long time to even get it looked at. I looked up some places and found some great reviews on Yelp. I went to one place before looking at Yelp for some guidance and the mechanic quoted me at near a $1,000!! I had a feeling that being a 23 year old female I was probably being taken advantage of, so Yelp guided me to try these guys. I went in and right away Mike confirmed my dad's opinions and gave me a quote of around $450-500 depending on how much damage my waiting caused. Not only were they honest Mike gave me a nice little New York accent, and it wasn't half bad either. I dropped the car off late in the work day and it was done the next day!! Not only that but I was SHOCKED when the bill came to a mere $275. A FOURTH of my original quote. I've never been given a quote and then had to pay half of it because they were able to fix a problem rather than just replace it and charge extra for the labor and parts. I felt completely comfortable and satisfied with the work and would recommend them to anyone! I'm so happy with the car and I think I've found my west coast TRUSTED mechanics! Corvette, Muscle Car, or Collector Car Owners - why accept the inflated prices or be disappointed by the unfulfilled promises of so called automotive performance or specialty shops? On Track does it all: courteously, correctly, and affordably! Disappointed with incorrect, careless work and long-term tie-ups in the shop that exposed my 65' Stingray to the elements and the greasy aftermath of sloppy mechanics, I took the advice of a friend in the Bay Area Corvette Club and took it to On Track. Mike, Bob, Steve and the rest of the On Track team are truly amazing. They corrected all existing problems other shops had made, and have maintained the car perfectly ever since. Their knowledge of muscle cars is amazing, and they thoroughly research anything they don't know so that no one touches the car unless he knows exactly what needs to be done to make it factory correct. They know V-8 engines and carburetors and don't pretend working on them is some high-priced specialty as do so-called performance shops. There is always at least one muscle or collector car in the shop whenever I come in. They recommend only work they feel is needed and understand how to work within a budget. They've serviced and repaired my Ford Van and Volkswagen perfectly as well. On Track is truly a one-stop shop! read more

I had a great experience with On Track Automotive the first time I visited, but unfortunately my second visit wasn't as good. My car needed new tires and I called the Toyota repair shop to find out how much it would cost me - they quoted something very high (around $400), so I called On Track. On Track quoted me at around $120 dollars to change the tires, so I made an appointment and went in. By the time they were finished, the bill was at almost $300, due to new charges like removing the old tires (that really wasn't included in the initial quote??) and realigning the new tires. I would have been fine paying those fees if I had been told up front, but don't understand why I was quoted low initially (besides to just get me in the door). I prefer to support local businesses, but after this I'll be back at the Toyota dealer. Perhaps this type of business works with some Burlingame residents, but I am just a local renter so unfortunately can't afford to pay extra. read more

My hubby's patience had thinned out on Spiteri's so luckily I found these reviews and tried them out in Feb. Excellent service from the entire team! Bob even went as far as reviewing the previous service details that my Accord 2000 had with Spiteri's (and confirmed our observation that we rarely had a basic service; there was always something $300-$400 more to tinker with). This time our car's alignment problem really got fixed (Spiteri's has always been "fixing" --- and charging -- us for this same issue the last couple of trips we were there!). We got the car in around 8am and it was out by 4pm, no overnight-ers! We also received a follow up call a few weeks after the service which never happened with the other automotive service providers that we had. So we've been telling our Bay Area friends about On Track and the professional and excellent service that we had. read more

Here's a recommendation that's long over due. On Track Automotive has serviced my cars since 1993 when I presented Bob Vernazza with my 1990 Acura legend. And guess what? I'm still coming back and I'm still driving the same car due to Bob's bed side manner and technical expertise. If you're looking for a repair service that has your best interest in mind it's a 'no-brainer'. I can't imagine a more dependable, more ethical, or more expert repair service on the Peninsula. My wife and I have taken our cars to On-Track for over a decade and we have nothing but praise for the business. Mike EARNED our business through years of dependable work and generally being a good guy. As a quick example, my wife's Saturn broke down and another shop quoted a $3K repair bill which included every possible problem. My wife called me in tears as she didn't have the money. I called Mike and described the bill. He calmly separated the urgent issues from those that could be postponed and was able to get my wife back on the road for $750. (It's still running today!) Our 1999 Tahoe needed it's a/c fixed so I made an appt online for a quote. It's an older car and I didn't want to fix it if it was gonna cost too much. Mike called to inform me of the cost every step of the way and ask if he should proceed. Other repairs that were needed were suggested, not just done automatically. We had our car back after two days, and yes, we had them fix the a/c. Remember, you get what you pay for. Cars are an expense, not an investment. Our family has brought several of our cars here and will continue to do so. We initially went to a different auto shop to get an oil change. We walked out with a laundry list of things they said we needed to take care of and an awfully high quote! We wanted a second opinion. We know, firsthand, how difficult it can be to find a good and reliable mechanic. After reading some good reviews about On Track on Yelp, we tried it out. Went yesterday afternoon to On Track Automotive. Talked to Mike about a loud rattle noise at high speed that other people had tried to fix but couldn't on my Honda CR-V. Also asked him to do an oil change and fluid check. The day before I also had let the battery drain which caused my radio to stop working. I asked Mike if he could get the code to make the radio work again. The following afternoon Mike called me to tell me everything had been fixed. He charged me a reasonable price and fixed my radio for free since I was a first time customer. Mike was friendly and courteous and answered all my questions. After dropping my car off in the morning I was told it would be done in the early afternoon ... when it wasn't I decided to wait at a local coffee shop. I went to call them but realized I didn't have the number on me ... I consulted Mike to inspect my car if timing belt replacement was necessary after another mechanic in town with whom I had my car serviced had strongly suggested to replace it. After inspection, Mike recommended only the drive belt needed replacement and the timing belt was in good shape. On Track Automative has been taking care of my 1997 Explorer since 2000 when I bought it used. Bob, Mike, and Steve have taken excellent care of my SUV and I have over 150,000 miles on it. When repair issues come up, we discuss the cost and sometimes it is less than expected - they won't know until they search it out. I highly recommend bringing your vehicle to On Track Automotive. Mike and his team are honest and reliable. The place is small and with limited parking but they get the job done. Keep in mind the check in/check out process can take some time so plan accordingly. I also recommend calling in advance and scheduling an appointment as they are often busy. read more

The lower housing appeared undamaged with all the exposed wiring appearing to be still intact. The first shop I took my vehicle to informed me that although the exterior of lower base appeared ok cosmetically, there might be unseen damage to the inside of the unit, given that a plastic piece did appear to have been snapped off. Hmmm, but ok, seems logical. Since the entire unit required replacement and given all the electronics involved, the OEM price + labor + tax was over $1,300. Yikes! Checked out Lou's Auto Repair; he took a look at this and that, wiggled here, pinched there and he declared that I'd only need to replace the plastic top cover of the mirror. WT-! Total bill out the door, $135. Moral of the story, always get multiple estimates and always include Lou's Auto Repair for an honest estimate, and timely professional workmanship.

His wife searched Yelp and found this shop with good reviews and had the Prius towed there (unfortunately I was also out of town - because I suspect the Prius only needed a new 12V battery). She paid $1,374 for the "repairs" but the car was still not working right and the VSC warning light was on! The memo (see attached) on the invoice said: "VSC light still on, 2 codes still present during scan, C1231 steering angle sensor, possible clock spring??? & B1432 passenger solar sensor circuit. Further diagnosis recommended" Can you imagine what the costs would have been if my son would have brought the car back for "further diagnosis"? I checked it out myself and found that there were two bad fuses when they said they replaced the main fusible link/block for more $$. Guess what, I replaced the fuses and everything works perfectly. I can understand paying for services, people need to make a living. However, in this case, it is more than dishonesty. I have nothing to gain by writing this review, it's water under the bridge but wanted to spend the time doing it so that others don't get scammed.
