We brought our truck in for a cooling/heating issue, which the shop repaired. However, the overall experience raised serious concerns about their judgment and professionalism. Without our authorization, the shop added brake fluid, claiming the brake pedal went to the floor when they moved the truck into the bay. This was never discussed with us beforehand, nor were we given the opportunity to approve or decline the work. More troubling, within about a mile of leaving the shop, we experienced a complete brake failure. This created a dangerous situation that should never occur after a vehicle has just been serviced. When we contacted the owner, he claimed he had informed us there was a brake shop next door if we needed further service. That statement is simply not true--no such information was provided. While the original issue was fixed, the lack of communication, unauthorized work, and the safety risk we experienced afterward are unacceptable. We strongly recommend others proceed with caution and ensure all work is clearly authorized and explained before service is performed. read more

I would recommend but you cannot get an appointment as they only take walk-ins which is crazy in today times. I had to go by twice to actuall just get my car diagnosed. The AC compressor kicked the bucket in our 2010 RAV4 V6. I had already diagnosed it and when I figured out the problem, I determined that fixing it myself wasn't a viable option because of its location. They confirmed the issue and called me back with an estimate. I gave them the green light and they got it done quickly. When I went to pickup the car, I confirmed that they performed the work and when I paid, the final price was less than the original estimate. It's been working fine since then. Car heater did not work. Place was recommended by Firestone mechanic since the entire dash board had to be removed. The repair shop was about 45 minutes away which was my biggest concern. The staff was friendly and professional. I was told that the job would take about 4 hours and I elected to wait. The waiting area is nothing to write home about but the repair shop is located next door to a restaurant which is convenient. My car was ready in less than 4 hours and the heater was restored to its working condition. Through the repair cost was somewhat steep I was satisfied. So far, disappointed. I brought my vehicle in there on Monday 5 April at 11:30. Received it back a few hours later. Labor, check-up, and two missing caps replaced, the charge $194. After driving a little, and then a bit more on Tuesday, at which time I felt it was still a bit warm, I brought it back on Wednesday 7 April. This time I was told it was reading on the thermometer just 6 degrees warmer then the maximum low. I was offered to make an appointment for the following week, at which time I would have to leave it all day in order for them to find the exact cause, but, I declined. So, as far as my review/rating, I think it's a fair assessment since I didn't see a reason for giving them a VERY Good appraisal, but at the same time, I didn't think that they deserved a terrible/bad one either. Went in for an AC repair on Friday at 8 am, and was out by 10:15 with for only $300 total for to replace the fill valve and oil the system and charge it. Blows cold as you like now. The lobby had WiFi and plenty of charging cables. Much faster, cheaper and nicer than I expected. read more

Came here a few weeks ago to get the A/C fixed in my 2009 Altima. I got an estimate awhile ago from here and a couple more places. It was a compressor issue and I delayed getting it fixed for the longest cause I knew it was gonna be expensive (be careful with potholes, kids). This place gave me the best price estimate of all and I was driving to Miami the next day (where I would actually need A/C), so I just bit the bullet and did it. I got there around 10 am and brought my laptop since I figured it might turn into an all day thing. Nope- was in and out within 3 hours! The guys working there are great and will call/update you every step of the way. They will not do anything without discussing it with you first. For instance, they found another issue while they were fixing my car and called me to inform me and explain it, gave their honest opinion about it (said it was very minor, don't bother fixing it) and then asked what I would like to do. Their dedication to communication made an impression, and my car is now icy cold. If you don't mind being treated like your a jerk because you have a question about your bill and because you DARE to interrupt the service manager while he was working on his paperwork, then this place isn't too bad. I've been a customer of this shop for about 2 decades. I had just paid them $400 for work they performed, but I paid a different person (Neal, who is a very friendly guy). I came back in with a question, and I approached their venerable shop manager - Brad - who has the customer service skills of an Islamic Terrorist. I was confused about my bill because there was an estimate on my care that said the cost was $99. However, I had just paid them $399. I came back into the shop, and Brad was in the middle of filling out paperwork. I was the only customer standing there. I THOUGHT I knew Brad (sort of) because I had done business with them previously several times, and I had JUST paid them $400 for the work they did. So I said, "Brad, I have a quick question about my bill". Brad's response was "WAIT A MINUTE. I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHO YOU ARE.". He made me wait while he finished his all-important paper work without saying "please wait", and then he filled out another set of paperwork before addressing me. When I finally got the clarification about the bill, he said "Please don't get mad at me because I put an estimate on your window that confused you". I said, No, I'm upset with you because you were rude to me when I tried to ask you a question. He made no attempt at an apology - was completely unapologetic. It's sad, because this place has been my defacto go-to place for AC work for the past 2 decades. Really happy with the work they did with my car. My air conditioning died! Like, point of no return, complete catastrophe, rebuilt needed dead! These guys gave me an estimate that at first I thought was a bit steep. So, I shopped around. All places told me no other place would do better work but nobody could do it for a better price. In fact, it would cost me more! You know a place must be good when others in the industry actually dissuade you from going anywhere else! Anyway, I dropped it off on Friday at noon. I was given a timeline of Monday late afternoon, to just call on Monday to make sure. They kept their word, were right on track, and my car was ready by Monday at 2:00p. An update to my previous post.... My cold air only lasted about 2 weeks, so it was obvious that my compressor was going to have to be replaced. Knowing it would be an all-day job, I dropped off my car in the evening, using the key drop slot. I noted on the key envelope to do the compressor replacement and also a timing belt replacement that had been recommended in my prior visit as well. I got a call the following morning and they recommended the timing belt tension spring be replaced also (probably the source of the loose belt & squealing sound). I agreed to have that done as well. They called again around 4pm to let me know my car was ready to go. Due to the extra timing belt work I had done in addition to the compressor replacement, I was expecting to get hit with a pretty big bill. Remarkably, the bill was lower than I was expecting and still a good $500 or more cheaper than the previous place quoted me for a compressor only. I would recommend Auto Cool to anyone who needs this type of work done on their vehicle. This was the best auto repair experience I have had in at least 10 years or more. read more

Auto Cool was recommended to me by a friend. I wanted to try and fix my AC myself, however I gave in to taking my car to a professional. They had my car checked within 15 minutes and gave a diagnosis for a small fee. So I could repair it myself or let these guys do it. The repair was all labor and I elected to let them do it. They applied the diagnosis fee toward the price which I felt was fair. I had my car out in about three hours. They also found other minor problems that they fixed including a broken vent arm. They could have sold me new parts, however they glued the existing part back together. Great Job!! read more

I have been to AutoCool twice and had a good experience both times. The first was in December of 2010 because my defroster was not working. It was ascertained that the issue was blower motor. While being serviced, they also checked another problem I wasn't sure about (was NOT an issue) and determined that my Temperature Door Actuator was failing. The manager explained the issue to me in understandable terms and even took the time to show it to me. At NO TIME did they they try to hard sell me on receiving this service that day. In fact, they told me that I was fine unless it became a problem later. They provided me with a written estimate as well as a detailed description of the service I received. Nearly two years later, I am back to get this service taken care of. The part held out until earlier this week and naturally I wanted to come back to them for service. I brought my car in, they determined that it was indeed the part in question, and took care of me. Yes, the cost was higher than the original estimate. But that was from 2010. Come on! It'd be crazy to expect it to be the same price! I have since referred friends to this business and all have told me that they were satisfied with their service and experience. In addition to friendly service, they are always fast. I have NEVER waited as long as I expect to. I was directed to Auto Cool by my trusted mechanic of over 20 years, Dalton Automotive, who only refers his clients to Auto Cool for repairs. I have taken two different vehicles to Auto Cool for repairs in the last couple of years and only had pleasant experiences with them. One of the repairs required replacing the compressor and a control which Auto Cool replaced for 1/3 less than the two other estimates I had from other large chain service centers. The staff at Auto Cool has always been pleasant to me and my wife, did what they say they would do and had the car ready when promised. I don't know what kind of issues the 1 star reviews have had but they do not sound consistent with my experiences nor my mechanic who trusts his customers to them. After being told by several general mechanic shops to replace everything between the front and back bumpers for thousands of dollars, I finally recalled what a friend told me years ago about Auto Cool. I took my car there and they immediately identified the problem and replaced the seals along the freon lines that had the telltale residues at every joint. I've since taken several cars there and had all of them permanently fixed for much less than what the dealer or general auto fix shop would have charged. I found this company online as my a/c recently went out (of course at the start of summer). I got a few quotes prior, but decided to go with the company that specializes in cooling systems. I paid for the visual inspection to get a better idea of what my car actually needed, a few weeks later I was ready to schedule. I dropped my car off, nervous this could be even more expensive than my original quote, as it was stated as a possibility in the visual inspection.. but I still went along with it. The shop needed my car for about a day and a half, due to a wrong sized part, I believe. Overall, no issues and everything went well. The price was the same as originally quoted minus the visual inspection costs, and I was also informed of a potential issue down the line that I don't have to worry about for now. These guys are honest and do good work, just know A/C work ain't cheap but it beats frying in the summer heat! read more

Ok SO, ............. took in my 92 GMC Sonoma for a retro-fitting, got a quote-estimate, dropped it off Sat AM at 7 sharp as requested. Within an hour, recieved an update call, most everything went well except the compressor was leaking. I kinda figured with the age of the truck and all, there would be some sort of snafu and its cool though....... I mostly appreciated the upfront honesty. Brad and Fred run the show at Auto Cool, and even though the quote for total repair was outta my budget range, they were "cool" (pun intended) about the whole thing. I read almost all of the review posted on Yelp, some good some not so much as most reviews go, but for my experience I couldn't find any lack of respect or kindness in gestures from Auto Cool. I did not feel ripped off or any such experience and I know to each his or her own? I have a fairly cut and dry to the point personality especially during business transactions and these guys were upfront as it gets, I feel reputable ( as I checked with several male friends on their rep also). Even though I did not complete the job with them, I got a partial fix, but I am pleased with both the follow up and end result. The shop is very organized, neat and clean. Ladies, (and gents) I recommend gettin your whip over there if you are having trouble this season with your a/c! Do it before the "heatwave" arrives in GA. because Auto Cool's biggest business season is probably summer and right not they are not slammed. Turns out after all the arguing and back-and-forth... the problem really was what we had originally thought. Worst thing... not even a month (and over $200) later, the A/C is out again. When the A/C died on my 2006 Honda Pilot, a friend suggested I take it to Auto Cool to be repaired. After checking Yelp for what others had to say, I did just that, and I am highly pleased with the outcome. As can be the case with any air conditioner, the compressor had to be replaced, and with a 13-year old car, it was high time I had a worn circulation filter replaced as well. Brad and the guys at the desk called me twice with an updated diagnosis while I hung out at Rev Coffee next door, and when I approved the charges (a total of $332), the guys in the shop got to work. It was necessary to order a part, so I had to leave the car over night. It was ready the next day before lunch, just as promised. I have a 25yr old car with original R12 system that's worked fine since new, but recently developed a slow leak. I called first and was told i may not have to convert to R134, which is what i PREFERRED. I figured this meant they DO work WITH R12 so I brought my car in. Their first call reported that they HAD to convert the system to find the leak. I asked why and the rep said it had to be under full pressure. NO KIDDING, BUT WHY DID IT HAVE TO BE R134?? I was told it had to be done. Ok, i trusted the rep. and approved the conversion quoted at $200. For that price, i expected a COMPLETE conversion, which should have included new receiver & compressor o-rings (per Toyota TSB AC002-98) Their 2nd call later said they found the leak at the compressor seals, and it would cost additional $270 for the seals and receiver/dryer to be replaced! $470 for a proper conversion??? I declined and took my car home. So I paid $200 for an incomplete conversion I could have done myself with a $30 parts store kit. (which i've done before successfully) If you have DEEP pockets and don't ask questions, you may not have a problem here. But if you know your car well, and don't appreciate outrageous markup ($12ea for two $3 retro-fittings; $50 for two $10 cans of R134!!) then AVOID THIS PLACE. Now I feel like a sucker who paid $200 to leak a different refrigerant. They SHOULD have replaced all the o-rings BEFORE installing R134. There would be no leak now and no add'l work necessary! read more

Brought my car I'm because my air was blowing warm. Paid almost $400. Got the car home and the next morning there was smoke pouring out the right side with a squealing sound. Brought it to my regular mechanic and was told that it was the a/c.$900 MORE to fix. I asked how this could happen if, as they told me on the phone, they do a thorough diagnostic before starting work. Auto Cool said "Sorry, but we can't check everything! " Didn't expect them to check EVERYTHING, not the transmission, not the engine, not the alignment but I DID expect them to thoroughly check the AIR CONDITIONER! DO NOT go here if you have a hybrid vehicle. They do not have the equipment or the expertise to work on them. They ruined two working hybrid air conditioner compressors, one of which came straight from the dealership. At the end, I had to take it to the dealer to finally get it fixed. When I asked Auto Cool to refund their labor costs, they flatly refused several times and did not care that I was unhappy with their work. Don't believe their guarantees.
