I was referred to Fontaine's when it was located near the Texaco near library, down the street from current location. As a lady, I was weary of auto repair shops outside of GM dealers I frequented - must admit that I received preferential treatment as a GM employee. Appreciated the referral and csn honestly state that I nevet felt as if I was being taken advantage of by Fontaine's. Have been going for many years and appreciate the genuineness displayed by Darren.He has had some really good employees also; Chris comes to mind. Not only does he service vehicles with a smile, but he also takes the time to point out any discrepancies and whether it needs to be addressed immediately. I have referred countless people to him because of these qualities. Writing today because Darren was extremely helpful again and my vehicle wasn't even serviced. Dealing with an issue with my tires that involved 2 replacements. I knew Fontaine's had not dealt with tires in the past, but was worth a call. After speaking with Darren I called a few tires places. They didn't have my size tire, but assured me that the difference for ones in stock was minimal. Called Darren back as a neutral party who I trusted. He assured me that the difference would throw my balance off enough to cause a check engine light issue. Mr. Fountain is retire USMC, nothing else needs to be said. I am kicking myself for the many years of overspending. I was just quoted $65 for a repair that less than a MILE away was over ...$300!!!! Where has this shop been all my life. There should be a Geico commercial for this shop..., tag line: ..." I just save a bunch of money by switching my mechanic to Fontaine's".... I did a very bad thing. Yes I did, but luckily I was pointed in the direction of Fontaine Service Center. Since you dragged it out of me i'll tell you what happened. Long story short; I thought i'd be spiffy and do a little somethin' somethin' to my engine myself. You know the typical, change the air filter, top off the fluids, check the wires, clean the battery, put 2 qts of oil in the engine when the oil was already full. NO SHE DIDN'T!!!! YES I DID. Yep, I put oil where there was no oil needed and low and behold I start driving and the exhaust is smoking and the car is having problems accelerating. I don't technically consider myself a girly girl but at this point I became a girly girl. I freaked. I thought I had done well. I know about cars. I could do this right? Wrong!! ........ I decided i'm going to make it to the service station I could get to. I don't care if I have to be back at work. I must find out what i've done wrong. I'm driving and apologizing to the guy on the bike behind me being blinded by my smokey mcsmoke smokin' car. I pull into jiffy lube. They are oblivious as to what the problem could be. Really? Are you serious? You have no idea what could cause this? Why did they hire you? Seriously. Lucky enough the guy was sweet and smart enough to point me in the direction of F.S.C. I pull in and in all honesty I waited like 2 1/2 hours for Darren to get to my car but I didn't mind because he was super friendly and knew right away what was wrong. I over filled my oil. How did I know my car takes 3-4 qts and I put 2 in there on top of what was already in there. I thought better safe than sorry, but not in the case. What I like about this place is that business is really good here which to me says somebody is doing something right. Not to mention everyone that came in to get serviced or drop their cars off knew the service tech, Darren, by his name and I saw one lady bring him a cake and another brought him cashews because apparently those are his favorite. What is this guy doing, selling crack? Nope. Once he was able to get to my car he was very thorough in explaining to me what was wrong with my car, what I had done and how it affected my car, and he also pointed out other things in my car that I was curious about. (Note: This is how you learn how to work on your own car or atleast do the little things that can save you alot of money. Most people don't even know where the air filter is. Why would I pay someone $15 for a $3 air filter I can put in myself) Point being this place is a little shop attached to a Texaco gas station in Mableton on Floyd rd. I would have never thought in a million years I would let someone who worked at a service station attached to a gas station even touch my car but I was pleasantly surprised. Darren was super friendly, very knowledgable about all makes and models of cars from what I saw, and the prices were very reasonable. $20 for an oil change, $40 for a tune up, etc etc. I don't think they deal with major issues but they definitely do things like the oil change, brakes, radiators, and so on. I can't believe i'm saying this but I would totally check this service station out if you're in the area and looking to get something done to your car. Every time I have a repair issue, Darren saves me hundreds of dollars. Dec 16, my oil light began to flicker so I took my car to Fontaine Service Center and he only charged me $120 to replace the valve cover gasket and oil/fuel filter. I have been using his service for the past 3 years. I was curious to see just how much money Darren saved me; so I went online to RepairPal.com. According to them, my repair should have ranged from $313 (independent shop to $440 at the dealership!!! A year ago, I took my boyfriends car to him. It needed some tie-rod work. Prestige Auto in Dallas estimated the cost at $1,300. I took the car to Darren, he fixed the inner-tie rods the same day for $80 bucks!!! Also, the 98 Chrysler needed brakes n rotors real bad. Goodyear Tire on Canton Rd estimated the cost at $600, Darren fixed everything for $240. I WILL NEVER USE ANY OTHER AUTO REPAIR SHOP, AS LONG AS I LIVE IN GEORGIA!!!!!!! read more

This is an update so people understand just how bad of a job this place did with my Celica. It was never my rear main seal leaking. It's my front crankcase seal, my oil pan gasket, and the distributor O ring (which they claim they replaced ... sure they did). Also, my rough idling issue is my emissions control system and NOT my throttle idle body being dirty because I've since taken it to three different mechanics and they all told me the same thing. Oh yeah, I have a completely cracked exhaust manifold which I was NEVER told about also. I wasted $670 on repairs I didn't actually need done! Now I have to try to scrape up the money to have the REAL issues fixed! Oh my gosh, this shop is such a rip-off ... Sure, they're cheap - for a reason. You get what you pay for here. My advice, take your car to a more reliable mechanic. read more

(first trip, around May 2012) Had trouble with my car, and saw that this place was near my school. Went by really quickly after class, and they were super busy (which is always a good sign, right?). They checked my car, and at no charge diagnosed what was wrong, and I made an appointment to come back within the next few days. They gave me an estimate for an alternator (which was the issue with my car) and I called around to 4 other stores, just to price check. I'm a broke college student, so of course I'm going to do this. Out of all the stores I called, this one had the best price. At one of the auto shops I called, they quoted me something that was over 200$ MORE than what Fontaine quoted me, which was less than 200$. Went by at the appointed time, and spent a few hours with my schoolbooks and laptop down the street at Taco Bell. When I came back, they told me I had a belt that needed fixing. Some people may be dubious about stuff like this, but he showed me the damage to the belt, and how it was very worn. It wasn't just someone finding any extra fee, I could see with my own eyes the wear and tear of the belt. The alternator was the exact estimated price, and it was fixed in a very timely manner (the same day I brought the car in). This shop was great, efficient, and offered a competitive price on their parts. I would definitely go back at another time. read more

OMG, Darren is so wonderful, very kind and what is most important very honest.My sister and i had a old Mitsubishi mirage, it was having lots of issues. we took it to few different mechanics, paid a fortune , car was still not doing well, One day my car just died, thankfully it was on Floyd rd next to Fontaine service center. I have been using Darren and Fontaine Service Center for years now. I have three vehicles that he has kept in great running order. I would not hesitate to recommend him to others, nor would I hesitate to send my wife or any other woman there. His prices are very reasonable and he does his best to get your vehicle repaired and back to you ASAP. He recently moved to a bigger shop and added staff due to the high volume he experiences. Just an example of getting to know a great mechanic : Recently my wife's car threw a serpentine belt due to a locked up water pump. She had no idea what was wrong, so she called me to come check it out. I attempted to get the belt back in place, but with no success. I called Darren and he broke away from his shop and drove to the location where her car was. He immediately diagnosed the problem and recommended a wrecker service to get the car to his shop. He started the work at about 5 PM and had it finished by 7 PM. I can honestly say that Darren is the best mechanic that I have had the pleasure to know. I had a misfire on a plug and they diagnosed it right away, I got that fixed and they were thorough on going through all aspects of my engine and everything from the cooling system to the brakes. I took my 1992 Buickroadmaster to them over a month and a half ago. Darren told me they were backed up and I might have to wait awhile. I said okay because they had did decent work for in the past, and had got the car back to me quickly in at a fair price. Now he doesn't return my calls... when I talked to him two weeks ago he told me his guys could not figure out why the car won't start.. and that he is going to have to go down there and look at the car himself. I never heard back from him. My problem with the car was that it cut off at a stop sign and would not restart. He tells me it's something electrical two weeks ago but he doesn't know what. I am disappointed. No one answers the phone. When my wife get's home I am going to get my car and tow somewhere where people know what they are doing and answer their phone. read more

Needless to say, rotors I purchased were not correct size. Owner took the initiative to buy correct ones while we waited. Delighted to come across a reliable / honest mechanic. I brought my car here b/c I was having trouble accelerating. They informed me that one of my spark plugs was dirty and they had cleaned it. They then informed me that my water pump was leaking. I had my suspicions about this, and authorized the repair. I pick up my car at noon and drove it work. 12 hours later, as I am leaving work, my car breaks down. I have it towed back to Fontaine only to be told the head gasket had blown. I had the engine rebuilt last year at a different shop. I contacted the previous mechanic who informed me that the gasket was new and should not have blown and that the cause was an improperly attached water pump. At no time has Fontaine admitted their work was the cause and they have made no attempts to repair the damage they caused. read more

One time I thought something was wrong with my brakes. They checked both front and rear brakes at no charge and found out it was actually something else they didn't repair. I can not explain what a terrible experience I have had with this shop. Rewind two years ago, I took my car in for a clutch replacement, the price for the repair was great and all they guys at the shop were friendly and helpful, but after the repair my new clutch never felt right. I had to take it back to have them look at it again a few months after the install... things still didn't feel right, being a normal person who can't go back to a shop every month, I ended up driving it anyway. Fast forward to now: can't shift my car at all, so I take it back, which was my first mistake. They had my car for 2+ weeks and would not answer my calls or text messages. They wouldn't call me back either. So I have a friend drive me up there and they act like nothing is wrong, like me being concerned and upset after hearing nothing is absurd. So, they promise to get to it ASAP,I say okay. I get a phone call saying it's not the clutch, it's the transmission; "how do you know?" I ask. "That's what my guy said." Was the answer I got. Take my car to a different shop. In 2 days, it's fixed; it is the clutch. Transmission looks great. The other clutch was installed improperly WITH INCORRECT PARTS. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO THIS SHOP. I'm a Laid back person, I can't explain to you how unprofessional this shop is. Even if you've been there before and you're debating on going back, DON'T. Save yourself the time and energy. They have excellent prices and they do look at your vehicle and tell you what is wrong at no charge. This is a good place for women who get ripped off at auto service stores coming in single mechanics will do anything to you but with Darren he is very honest. I saw so many women coming in dropping their car off ladies this is the place to be I felt very comfortable and didn't feel like I had to mean mug coming out because my car was well taken care of. I was charged $210 for a tuneup at this other location and when I asked Darren how much did he charge he said $65. Ladies please go here to be treated fair and not ripped of. I came here because right after that pricey service place "fixed" my car somehow my whole radiator neck broke off inside the upper hose to make me come back to probably charge me $400 more dollars. I got it looked at and they said as though the other place I went to looks as though they intentionally broke the neck. Not long ago, I had my car looked at by a reliable mechanic who told me the only thing wrong with my car was a power steering pump leak. He told me if I kept oil in it, my car would be fine. My car was driving good, I just didn't like the power steering oil leaking in my driveway. I went to Darren Fontaine's Shop (Fontaine auto service) located at 5960 Mableton Pkwy SW, Mableton, Georgia 30126 only for a Power Steering Leak to be fixed on my car. On July 29th, 2017, I went to his shop and sat there for 3 hours thinking my car was being repaired on being that I clearly saw my car being taken up and down on the lift. After 3 hours of waiting, He told me to come back within a week because he had to order the part I needed. He also lied about me needing another part to be fixed. I asked how much the repair would be and he stated $515.05. I took my car back a week later on August 5th, 2017. He told me it would take 5 hours to fix the leak so I left it there a few days to be repaired. I repeatedly called (404-519-8740) on August 7th, 2017, only to have my calls left unanswered. He called me back and said my car would be ready at 6:00 p.m. I had my son take me by Darren's shop (Fontaine auto service), Once I arrived at 6:00 p.m., I had to wait for about two hours because he hadn't even started on my car and was just putting it on the shop lift. Once the car was ready I asked him had he fixed the car because he told me initially it would take 5 hours, he said "yes, just keep an eye on it" (which I didn't understand the meaning behind that) and I paid him in cash. The next day I called back because the car was still leaking oil, He told me to bring it back again. One day I was out with my family, I went to turn the steering wheel in the middle of a four-way stoplight and my car wheel wouldn't turn. I began to panic because it was hard but I had to force the wheel to turn. I missed important doctor's appointments because I was afraid to drive too far from home. Darren told my son that a bad part must have been put on my car, so I had to take my car back yet again. On September 15th, 2017 I took my car back again and sat at the shop with my granddaughter from 11a.m that morning until 6 almost 7 p.m. because he hadn't even touched my car. I ended up leaving it again and having my son pick us up from the shop. I left my car at Darren's shop for an entire week to give him time to fix it correctly. I called his shop number which is a cellphone, he answered and said he was out of town for a wedding, that he missed a plane coming back. He said his mechanic was working on it. My son called him and ask him if the car was ready, to leave the key under the driver side mat and that I would pick it up on Sunday September 24th, 2017. I called him back within the week of picking up the car to let Darren know the car was still leaking. I took my car to a reliable mechanic in McDonough, Georgia and he acknowledged the power steering pump was bad without me even stating Darren supposedly fixed it. I asked for a printout of the findings for my record. I called Darren back again about the second pump being bad as he told my son about the first one, and stated that I wanted a full refund. I let him know ahead of time that my phoneline was being recorded which was on September 29th, 2017. He agreed over the phone to pay me my money back in full, he also said he was going to take the part off of my car which would've left my car undrivable and stuck at his shop. We agreed I would give him the part back after my car was fixed by another auto shop. He also stated he was sorry it didn't work, that he was leaving the shop at 2p.m. to go out of town. I got to the shop 1:34 p.m. and upon walking in with my granddaughter who was recording our conversation I noticed his wife standing near him. He asked me to sign a piece of paper with some cash in his hand, I read the paper and it said $240.00 refund. Which was way less then what I had paid, and was not what he stated in our recent phone call that day. I told him about his bad reviews on yelp.com, he disagreed but when he strolled down the page and saw the one-star reviews he got quiet. I refused to sign the paper, as I never have signed anything with him or his shop. He was repeatedly saying he was sorry. I told him I would see him in court if he didn't refund all of my money and his wife started laughing as she was the entire time I was there. I was under the impression and assured by Darren that he was putting a Brand new part into my car for the $515.05 I paid, not a "Remanufactured part". I would've never paid the money I did had I known he would cut corners to keep more money in his pockets. Not to mention the amount of gas I had to put in my gas tank from locust grove Georgia to Mableton, which is (51.3 miles) according to google maps. Making me have a 102.6 miles round trip to travel to Darren's shop. I am in the process of filing a claim against him in court to sue him/his shop. read more

I paid this man over $1300 for repairs on my vehicle -- front struts, terrible oil leak that needed major repairs, water pump and timing belt. I have to tell you, it is a headache trying to get this man to see you. You call and call and call and call and call and it's always -- yea, come in. Then, when you take time out of YOUR SCHEDULE to go and see him on YOUR DAYS OFF, it seems that you have to accommodate HIM and not Vice versa. I come in, I sit and sit and wait and wait and sit and sit, only to finally ask, when he will be able to pull me in and he says, oh, sorry--not today. But , he manages to see EVERYONE ELSE just walking in off of the street putting THEM BEFORE YOU even though YOU have been sitting there ALL DAY. I finally had to let him know that he could have my car for however long that he needed so that he would not have to feel rushed (and quite frankly, it's really just so that I don't have to waste MY valuable and precious time making 16-17 trips there just to sit and look at the 4 walls in his shop---ALL DAY) and have my car just sit there in the hot sun not being worked on. In any event, recently found out that the oil leak is STILL There (thanks to a facility that performed an oil change on my car and had the decency to inform me) and my front struts are STILL busted open---so, it was determined that he NEVER did the work.---I knew something was 'fishy' when I finally went there to pick up my car and saw 3 other EXACTLY identifiable cars just like mine leaving the lot at the EXACT same time that I was there--- Quite frankly, I think that he has all of those cars in his lot, so that he can take parts off of YOUR car and put them on OTHER PEOPLE's CAR, so when you leave and other's leave, you're probably getting GOOD PARTS taken OFF of YOUR CAR and he's putting them on OTHER PEOPLE'S CARS, while you drive off in USED parts when you PAID him for NEW PARTS. ---I paid this man for WHAT ????? Absolutely nothing. I'll be suckered no more by Mr. Darren -----and yes, I am one of the ladies and quite frankly, I think that's exactly who he preys upon to sucker them out of their money. Am I going to call and tell him what I found out? No. Am I going to sue him after paying him over $1300 and getting nothing done to my vehicle? Absolutely. That's criminal theft. read more
