I love cars but hate the car buying process. I was looking for a new truck. I wanted a Chevy Avalanche but not just any one. I found what I was looking for at Auto Country in Exeter. I was admittedly a little nervous after reading the only 2 reviews but it was my dream truck. Black, newer body style, all the bells and whistles. I drove down to check it out. I was impressed. I prefer to shop family owned. It was nice to see a father and son team. The other vehicles I saw there looked good. The service was friendly, not pushy and helpful. They have a great service department. I had questions regarding some mechanical issues that are typical for GM vehicles, they were able to put the truck on the lift and show me the repairs that had been made. I do a lot of research when buying a vehicle so I know what to watch out for including pricing. The prices were fair and the financing was easy. I got a reasonable rate for my credit score. They even helped with recommendations to get my payment where i needed it to be. I love my truck and i would be happy to send my friends and family to Auto Country. After running restaurants for many years, I have learned to take negative reviews on Yelp with a grain of salt. There are some people that will never be happy no matter what and others that expect more than they deserve. I encourage you to give these guys a chance. They were knowledgeable, considerate, and helpful. They contacted me within a reasonable time frame after my inquiry and returned calls when I left messages. I don't understand why people think they would make it unpleasant to do business here, after all it is a business and if they don't sell any cars then they would be out of business. read more

They took a deposit on the truck and did not decide to call to tell us that. No customer service no considering.... No second chance with me..... This place is a total joke. They sell junk and don't stand behind anything they sell. I bought a pos truck from them that "was mint" according to them. I called 10 days later cause it needed head gaskets and valve seals, axle seals, oil coolant lines etc.. they said it wasn't there problem. I've owned this craps truck for a month now the "warranty" won't cover anything it's gone through 5 qts of oil in 6 days it's junk. It's going to cost me 2700 to make it right. Ryan's marrows dad bragged about his 60 thousand dollar caddy and they won't help me out with anything. These people are crooks. Please don't even look at there "dealership" as you drive by let a lone buy from them. There crap dealers that sell crap cars to good hard working people, something they know nothing about. Worst dealership ever !!! Bought a truck there in September, looking forward to using it this summer to tow our camper. Paid $17,000 for it, spent over $3000 on repairs and it still runs like crap ! It needed new tires when we bought it, we worked out a deal where we paid for 2 of the tires, specifying what size they had to be for towing. We went back several times to get the paperwork for the tires but they kept giving us excuses about not getting the paperwork from Pep Boys for the tires. We finally gave up. Big Mistake ! Went to fill the tires before our trip last week and found out they put the wrong size tires on the truck, putting us and our foster kids in danger hauling down the highway. They are the biggest ripoff artists and the most dishonest people we have ever dealt with. DO NOT buy from these lying thieves ! read more

Stay away. Trucks are full of rust and problems, and they can't fix the problems they have. Place should be shut down! I regretfully bought a truck there less than a year ago and have had multiple issues including a $2500 transmission job done and now wouldn't you know it the engine is misfiring so that's probably now bad. The funny thing is they can't even be bothered to fill the tank up when you buy the thing was left almost on empty. Had issues the first week after i bought the truck the AC compressor went bad. Brought it back three times before i thought the job got done correctly but now once again its squealing. Pretty sure the truck has gone thru a flood about to look at the car-fax they gave me and see if its actually for my vehicle. Maybe ill get lucky and be able to sue them in court. beyond mad and screwed with this truck. read more

If you are reading this and are seriously considering buying a vehicle from Auto Country do one of two things: RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN or have someone you seriously trust check out every single inch of the vehicle you're considering. Myself & a friend both took the trip over to Auto Country and were pretty happy the first day we left. Found the trucks we wanted and the payments were estimated to be right where we wanted them to be. That was the last and only time I walked out of there with a smile on my face. Got a call later that week that my truck was "ready" and when I showed up to test drive it I realized there was no gas in the tank. Bill gave me a credit card and told me there was a gas station down the road. Got to the gas station and began checking all the electric in the truck only to realize their mechanic somehow skipped my emergency brake...yet the truck had a brand new passing RI inspection sticker..sound shady yet? Oh just wait....so I bring the truck back let them know of a few things I was unhappy with and they brought the mechanic out and put on a good show reprimanding him in front of me & let me know how "embarrassed" they are that he skipped something so important. So I left with no truck and a promise that everything I had an issue with would be fixed. This list was much longer than just the e-brake but that was the most important and unacceptable. So I go back a week later and my truck again is "all set". Test drive the truck and everything was great...until I got back home and my mechanic puts it on the lift only to find that my transfer case is leaking fluid. The transfer case leaking is a huge expense and also a major issue. So I immediately call and let them know what the problem is, they say that I need to bring the truck back so they can see it and I do. I arrive the next morning and after basically blaming the whole problem on me "because it wasn't like that when it left here", they say they're going to swap out a transfer case from a truck on their lot that was a model year older than mine & tell me it will only take an hour....THREE HOURS LATER....the transfer case from the '03 DOES NOT FIT ON MY '04. I later found out that there's serial numbers on the transfer case parts and any mechanic with half a brain should have known that it wouldn't fit or should have at least done 5 minutes of research to make sure it would fit before wasting my time and making me two hours late for work. So they give me a "loaner" car which was a hunk of junk and send me on my way. Got a call the next day saying my truck is ready, make the trip back out there and get my truck back home only to find out that where my transfer case meets my transmission underneath the truck is leaking transmission fluid!!!!! I bring the truck to my mechanic who immediately checks my transmission fluid and finds that's it's OVERFILLED BY TWO QUARTS and the reason it's leaking is because they couldn't be bothered to change out a $15 gasket when they put the new transfer case back in. Needless to say, I'm having my truck fixed on my own time and on my own dime because I can't stand to make another hour trip back there so that their shotty mechanic can waste more of my time and compromise more of my truck. On top of this whole experience they tried to sell my friend a truck that had a cracked frame on both sides!!!! After she returned the truck they had it up for sale on their website THE VERY NEXT DAY for even more than what she was going to pay for it!!! I was floored and absolutely disgusted!! There is no way that truck was fixed correctly in less than a day. These guys are seriously going to hurt someone because they can't be bothered to fix anything correctly. PLEASE take all of this into serious consideration if you're going to purchase from them. They seem like really nice guys at first who are willing to do whatever you ask but are completely unorganized and are willing to turn a blind eye even if it means selling someone a compromised vehicle. Do not buy a vehicle from this dealership! They sold me a unsafe truck with a cracked/rotted frame on both sides. I only had the truck for less than 24 hours before returning it because my mechanic found this major issue and highly suggest that I take it back ASAP. By the next day they had already put the truck back up for sale on their website and for even more than the original asking price. They also claimed to have had the rocker panels redone because it had rot and a hole, but all it looked like they did was cover it up with body filler and painted it black without even fully smoothing it out. I was told the truck would be finished and ready for pickup multiple times and it was not. I was also told by Ryan the day I first looked at it that the truck would be serviced with a tune up, detailed inside and out, along a few other repairs, but when I asked him about the tune up he said he didn't know if it had been done and didn't seem to remember saying that it was going to be done, and the truck only looked like it had been wiped down in a hurry (not "detailed"). It took a little over three weeks and multiple wasted trips back and forth before it was ready. I never got the feeling that they were even truly sorry about selling me a unsafe vehicle. I was very lucky that my mechanic found this issue right away and I was able to return it before being stuck in the deal or worse, driving down the road and the truck frame snapping completely. Seems like they cut a lot of corners, are unorganized, and don't have the greatest mechanics. They also left barely any gas in the truck when I picked it up so I filled the tank to only to have to return the truck the next day, and they didn't even offer to credit me the money back. Overall I am extremely disappointed with my experience because it seemed like a nice place and they seemed like really nice guys in the beginning, but would highly suggest looking elsewhere. read more
