In my case they found an affordable solution to a problem that's been afflicting my Subaru Outback wagon for years. The rubber gasket lining of the rear left window had deteriorated and would flap around instead of sitting snugly in the doorframe. A seemingly small problem that was surprisingly complicated to address, since the gasket runs along both left-side doors. Every mechanic we've ever approached has sniffed at the smallness of the job while quoting an exorbitant price -- such that for a long time we simply decided to live with the problem instead of forking out. Mark didn't just charge us a very reasonable fee, but took the job just as seriously as a larger project -- taking the extra time to make sure the doors closed smoothly and aligned perfectly, and making sure I was fully satisfied before he clocked out. My sons are going to college in Berkeley and someone broke the rear window of their car to gain entry to burglarize the car. The car is a 1986 Volvo and looks terrible, but still runs like a top. There was nothing to steal. I spoke with Mark on a Friday, and by the next day he had not only found the glass we needed (not easy in a 1986 foreign car) but had replaced it and it was an unbelievable price. I was going around town and parked my car outside of the grocery store for about 30 minutes. When I came back it seemed like an attempt to get into my car was made to break into my car with what seemed to be a bat or metal object of some sort. This took me a while to figure out where to get another back windshield (where the broken glass was). I searched around and so happen to be in the berkeley area one morning and found Auto Glass Express. The establishment looked clean and safe and a good environment. Definitely lives up to their 5 star reputation! A fairly large sized pebble hit my windshield, leaving a hole and large spreading cracks. I knew the window would have to be replaced as the cracks were really extensive, and I was going on a road trip in a couple of days, and so needed the window fixed quickly. This place is very good !!!! 5 stars don't justify their service. The girl @ the customer service desk was the best rep i ever met. I end up playing a little bit more than most people. yes, I heard she gives quotes to various people who called in. But then again my car is actually very durable so parts can be harder to source. Generally just go with the lowest price. You don't need the actual glass by the car brand cause they just up charge you for the higher end label.
