It is so worth the ten minute drive outside of Dallas for the price. Everyone was very nice and the waiting area is quiet and has comfortable chairs. I got there at 9:30am and was out of there before 10:15am. Such a quick and easy process. Walter was especially helpful and took extra time to explain the after-care to me because he knew I was unfamiliar with anything car related. The…read moreenclosed carrier it was in was hit by a car on black ice and the Tractor and trailer slid sideways and rolled over. It took 3 weeks to even find out what kind of shape my car was in. When the adjuster told me it could be repaired for $16k. So I found Smitty's about 90 miles away so I used my AAA card to have it towed to Smitty's. Their assessment was the car was a total loss and the cost to repair it was more than what I had the entire car insured for. Katherine went back and forth with my insurance company full well knowing Smitty's would not be repairing the car. I can not praise them enough being my car was nowhere close to where it should be or even where it was picked up. They were instrumental in me getting me my insured value. The world needs more businesses like Smitty's I highly recommend them because if the go out of their way to help someone that will not be giving them business, I'm sure they'll go out of their way to help you!

This place ripped me off on what I paid for what I got. I paid over 27k to this place for them to…read morenot finish anything they started. Listed are the items I wanted addressed Fix wiper - Not fixed. Started but never finished. I ended up fixing this after I got the car back. The motor and gear box was all put together wrong and locked up. Exhaust - Looked like someone did the job in the back yard on some jack stands. You could put your head between the exhaust and the bottom of the car. Fix the wiring inside the motor bay - All they did was wrap stuff with electrical tape. Items like the oil pressure gage connectors were cut and not connected. Replace all the bushings on my front end. - they did about half of them. Torsion bar bushings and boots not done. Fix rust and recoat the undercarriage - this was something that actually looked like someone with skills completed. This was done well. Install a fresh built motor - I brought them a motor that had been rebuilt by City motors. Smitty's shop was given the long block. They had to install pickup tube, oil pump, valve cove an so on. They installed the pickup to incorrectly causing there to be no oil pressure. Toasted the fresh motor. They blamed they shop that built the motor. The shop did not install the pickup tube that was wrong. Smitty did. Install a Holley Sniper - The wiring job was a hack job that looked like something I did in my back yard. The fuel pump was installed on the bottom side of the car. The pump hung almost as low as the loose exhaust they did. Any bump will knock it off. Redo the breaks - This looks to be done well. Time will tell. I am in the process of getting the car back on the road myself. Many things I thought were right I am finding was not working or wrong. Like the wipers, and the steering box hoses listed below. Install a new aluminum radiator.- The radiator was suppose to be a direct fit. Ended up not being.. but the hack job they did mocking up some brackets again looks like something I did in the backyard. The radiator was loose and raddling. Replace the power steering box - When I got the car the pump was empty. I now know why. The hoses leak. They were installed with no O-rings. Another thing they took my money but did not finish or complete correctly. There are more items to list. These were the big ones. Crazy I paid about 27k to the shop, not including the about 11k in parts I bought for the project. I ended up having to pull the motor back out and have it rebuilt again. As I am doing the work I am finding more items that were not finished or done incorrectly. The power steering leaking is something I found yesterday now that I am close to getting the car back to a running state. I get working on old cars is a challenge. I have had to redo all the work listed myself. The whole point of me paying a shop was so it would be done right. Not to be half assed and me have to redo it all.. Well most of it. There was no ownership of the issues. The only response was "I didn't built the motor, You would let me finish". The motor issue was a result of this shops inability to install a pickup tube correctly. I would not recommend this shop to anyone for anything. They were great at taking my money. Not good an finishing much of anything. Much of the hardware they used when putting the car back together looked like stuff someone pulled out of a junk drawer

Unfortunately, some issues arose with the windshield afterwards that left me less than content. I contacted Chip Away to express my concerns, and was reassured that I would be helped in any way possible. Edward suggested some possible fixes that ultimately didn't end up working out, but when it came down to that, he obliged with a partial refund of the service. These sort of things happen, and the blame can be placed anywhere, albeit irrelevant in the grand scheme of things because what matters most is how the problem is handled afterwards. And Chip Away Auto Glass made sure that we parted on happy terms, just as a responsible and customer-oriented business should.

I checked the tires for bubbles or separations , peeped all the front end suspension to look for anything glaring and found nothing. I called around many places, all were too busy, Walton's said their alignment machine was tied up rest of the day, but to come by and they'd do a quick ride with me and help diagnose my issue. I really thought it was an alignment issue, but they said their best guess was a bad tire and referred me to discount tire, down the street. Sure enough, about a quarter of my front left tire's belt had heat separated. It was such a big section you could only see it when it was spinning. Thanks Walton's, I wish there were more like y'all!
