In typical SF fashion, my car was broken into although luckily nothing got taken. i immediately got a few quotes for replacement. For the quarter rear window glass on Tesla, I got a few quotes over $700 for the OEM glass and one for $425 for a third party replacement glass. Auto Glass Force SF was $495 plus tax (~$40) so quite a bit cheaper. Was able to make a same day appointment and they came to me. Replacement took under 30 minutes and they cleaned and vacuumed all the glass. It looks pretty good and was very convenient and efficient. We communicated over Yelp and they also called to make sure they had the right information and replacement glass. read more

My windshield was hit by multiple rocks last night, and I was freaking out. When I contacted Tesla, without any evaluation, they told me I should replace a whole window which cost A LOT. In reality, when I google windshield repair and send out a Yelp message to a different auto shop, the app also automatically sends it to 5+ different stores. This is one of the stores they sent it to. Out of all the stores that received my message, this auto shop gave the most reasonable price and responded the fastest. I will get it fixed within the same day. I do feel guilty that the store remains open late for me. However, I really appreciate their efforts. The shop also warned me that since two rocks hit my windows really closely, there was a chance my whole windshield might break during the repair. It is also the reason why some other stores refused to fix my window. However, it is very unlikely to happen, and I took the risk. The result was awesome. SAVE YOURSELF SOME TIME AND GO WITH ANOTHER COMPANY! Completely and highly UPSET with this place. Two days before my uncles funeral, the car gets broken into. Naj from SF City Glass was able to schedule repair the very next morning. The repairman came an hour into the 2hr time frame and the vehicle he drove was for Local Auto Glass not SF City Glass. Regardless, we were completely satisfied with the new window and the shattered glass was all cleaned up. A couple hours later, however, the same window that was repaired SHATTERED when rolled down! Keep in mind this was when my fiance was on the way to my uncle's viewing AND the funeral is the very next morning now. My fiance calls upset and asking for immediate service which he did not get. Naj from SF City Glass was not apologetic or helpful at all. He stated the earliest they could help us would be Sat morning (morning of funeral) and they would fix it then. I then requested for a refund and that I would just find a different glass company to come and do the job. Naj states he does not give refunds and even added, "IF you can find someone else which you won't- I'll even pay for it!" (WTF kind of an answer is that?!?) After speaking to a couple spots, Naj was right- no one was able to help us til the following morning. At 4pm we call and we're told that the repairman, Otto is running late and would need another hour and a half. This time passes and we call again, he states he needs another hour. My family is waiting on us, the Pacquaio fight would be starting so I change the location from my place to my aunts house and guess when Otto comes? Yup, right at the start of the fight, a good 4 hours from our scheduled time!! The window is finally repaired, and my cousins joke with Otto that he needs to test that window out about 100 times, which to his credit he did test it out - up and down... halfway up and down... close open... close open. He cleans ups and we joked with Otto that we hope to never see him again... The end. Wait, no its not- cause later on that night on the way home we realized the door handle didn't work cause it wasn't attached properly. Sooo what do you know- we got to see Otto on Monday... we were not about to sit around and wait for him or anyone from this company on Mothers Day! Would NOT recommend their services to anyone! I had minor chips in my windshield and called for an appointment to have the chips filled in. Local Auto Glass LLC based in Newark arrived promptly (maybe SF City Glass contracts out?) and their guy, Andres, begins drilling the chip without saying anything. Two seconds later, the drill slips from his hands and causes a 6-inch SCRATCH on my windshield. Right away, he says, "Oh sh*t, you're going to need a new windshield." He calls his manager, Leo, and we have an argument on the phone. Per Leo, they are not responsible for any damages that are done on the windshield, and tells me that I now need to pay $370 for a new windshield, as opposed to the $55 it would've cost to fill in the chips. He claims that he will not pay for my new windshield that they just caused a deep scratch on. He tries to bargain with me, but at the end, says that he has every right to tell his technician to just pack his things and leave it as is. -Very unprofessional; Andres never gave me a waiver form to sign before working on my car - he admitted this after he scratched my windshield -Shady business operation; if they mess up, they will pack their things and leave. Customer satisfaction and guarantee is not important to this company. My car is only 7-months old. I never needed a new windshield, and after SF City Glass and Local Auto Glass LLC "accidentally" created a 6-inch scratch, I now need a new windshield. Bleary-eyed and hungover, I was less than enthusiastic when he handed me the address and I saw that it wasn't even 9am. My experience at SF City Glass was as pleasant as an "it's my day off, this isn't my car, and I'm hungover" trip to an autoshop could possibly be. So, if you've read my other reviews, you'll know that I recently had my car window smashed out in a break-in. Sadly, my little Rabbit has one serious design flaw - there are no tiny windows for burglars to bust out, and this particular jackass chose to smash my whole passenger-side door glass. Which puts a great sense of urgency to fixing it, not only for the increased risk of auto theft, but all the homeless people in the hood will sleep in the car, and that just gets real nasty real fast. Unfortunately, I couldn't just take off from work to deal with this. I have never used a "come to you" service for repairing post-smash and grabs before, but I didn't think that it would be that big of deal. It's certainly advertised as an easy and convenient service that everybody seems to offer. Wrong. I called basically every service available in Marin (where I work), and unilaterally I was told that it was too late in the day for them to get anyone out to me that day. It was 10 in the morning. And since it was Friday, they couldn't send anyone out until Monday. Eventually, I resigned myself to the fact that I was going to have to find a service shop in the City (where I live) for Saturday and give up a portion of my day off waiting around while the car got fixed. I googled "auto car glass repair" and got the listings of SF services. The high star rating of SF City Glass caught my eye, and I called them first. As I was talking with one of the employees, I finally noticed on the google map that they are located way out in Hunter's Point, and not wanting to waste an hour waiting at the shop in HP (as opposed to being downtown and doing some shopping or at least getting a coffee), I was about to hang up, saying, "Oh, I didn't realize where you were located...." "No problem", says the guy, "We'lll come to you, no extra charge." "Oh, but you won't want to do that - I'm all the way out in Marin today." He asked me how far it was, and I told him 13 miles. "No problem" was the answer. I asked him if it was possible to do a same day service, and again the same answer. He called me back with an appointment and some information. Apparently, being true to the nightmares of average mechanics, my VW's windows are notoriously hard to fit, and while they had glass available to install, he told me that they would order something different and come out today to install a temporary window, and then come back on Monday to install the permanent window. All for the one price (which was $100 lower than the one place that was able to 'get me in' on Saturday if I took my car to their shop). I was sold. Raul, my repair man, showed up during the appointment window, was polite, friendly, and clearly knew his business. One of my greatest joys of have recently entered the Middle Class is that I no longer have to work on my car out of sheer necessity. I have never enjoyed being a gearhead, and while I feel like I probably now could replace a window on my car, I sure as shit wouldn't want to and I know that it would take me twice as long as it did Raul. During the repair, I became I little confused. The window that Raul was installing was clearly real auto glass; it fit my car and the window went up and down, and sealed properly. This is not what I was expecting. After Raul was done (this included vacuuming all the glass out of my car and cleaning all my windows), I asked him about the fact that his boss told me that the window was supposed to be 'only temporary' but it didn't look temporary to me. Was I missing something? Nope. Raul was confused too, so he called his shop and let me talk with the gentleman that I spoke with earlier. He was pleased that the fitting went so well and just said that if there was any air or water leakage, to give them a call and they'd "make it right." But, no problems at all; the window works great. My girlfriend's car window had been smashed, and they not only replaced the glass as they should, but also cleaned out all the glass bits that had been kindly left on the floor, seats and in the door compartments. I brought the car in at 830, and I was told it would be "just over an hour". At 9:35, I was on my way out the door. Not that I was in a hurry -- their couch is pretty comfortable. Called this Saturday morning at 11:30 asking if I could get a glass replacement, and after 4 places that qouoted to high of prices or too much time, SF City Glass was able to see me then and gave the lowest price. I've been having one of those annoying car months. Not major repairs, but little things - a smog check attempt that turned into needing a tow and a battery replacement that turned into needed a tire replaced. Therefore, I was naturally thrilled when I noticed a foot-long crack in my windshield last week. I had my car at work, so I decided to get it taken care of at lunch. I called up SF City Glass and they told me they could have my car in at 1, and the replacement would take approximately one hour. It actually took almost an hour and a half (in the middle of the work day), so minus one star for that, and minus another star for the less-than-posh waiting area that featured plastic lawn chairs as furniture. (Really, frat houses have done better.) But, they get one back for the friendly service and totally reasonable price for a windshield replacement ($150 plus tax). So, in short, it was relatively painless and I would go back (but hopefully I won't have to!). read more

Saturday-9am- find my back passenger window smashed 10:00am- call around to some glass repair shops and SF City Glass provides the cheapest and most convenient offer. They will match any price that I find lower than theirs and will come out to where i live and fix the window at no additional charge. 1:00pm- Window is replaced within half an hour, car is vacuumed, glass is windexed! 2:00pm- writing this yelp review with 5 stars. At 9am i thought i would be spending my Saturday at an auto body shop for hours getting the window fixed, thanks to SF City Glass, this was the most painless car repair.
