I have taken my car to this business for six different services/issues over the past twelve months (including oil change, flat tire, valve cover gasket replacement, alignment/balancing, and cv axle boot replacement). I am so satisfied with my consistently excellent experience here. Words cannot do their service justice, but I will try: I have ALWAYS been satisfied with the rates they charge. I have NEVER had to return the car for poor or incomplete service. I have ALWAYS felt that my customer satisfaction was their number one concern. The staff are all knowledgeable, friendly, efficient, and -- above all -- honest. They have the most ample, well-supplied customer lounge in town -- complimentary beverages (coffee, juice, water, hot cocoa, tea), wireless internet, play area for children, huge flat-screen tv with comfortable furniture to sit on. They are also quick to offer shuttle services to the Blacksburg/ Christiansburg area while your vehicle is being serviced. The mechanics took me to the maintenance floor and showed me the damage to my cv axle boot while my car was up on the lift, explaining why it should be repaired. Whenever I have had questions, they are more than willing to show me on my car where the issue is and then tell me their recommendations. If service to your vehicle involves tracking down a part -- used or new -- you can count on these folks to have your best interest in mind and to find the very best price for you. I have tested this theory a couple times and not been able to beat the prices they find for me. I used to be customer who brought all my own parts to a maintenance shop, afraid of over-charging; that is just not a concern with the Auto Master staff. I have to move soon, and I frequently joke with them about trying to get towing rates that will allow me to continue business with Auto Master from 500 miles away! I was driving back to Richmond from SWVA on December 26th when my 20 year old 4Runner just...died. Several fuses and more than a few choice words later, I gave up. The guy at the parts store recommended Automaster, so I left my car at the rest stop and caught a ride back home. If I had to break down, I picked the right place and the right people. Tim and the crew provided EXCEPTIONAL service and worked with me through my fumbling attempts to get back to Blackburg to get my car. Two weeks later, I have my vehicle back and it's running like a champ. Here's the kicker--I had a known issue with a fuel leak prior to breaking down (unrelated). I'd had my local mechanic diagnose the issue--kinda--and put off the repair due to the outrageous price quote he gave me. Tim at Automaster agreed to give it a look, and in the end his guys fixed the problem for about 25% less than my local guy. To cap it all off, the shop was kind enough to send Julie (?) to pick me up at the airport so that I could drop off my rental car. Look, these guys rock--they know their business, they go the extra mile to make sure you're taken care of, and they're easy to work with. If I didn't live 200+ miles away, they'd be my regular shop. I have had to deal with a lot of mechanics because of the age of my car, and no one compares to the mechanics at Auto Masters. They are the nicest people and they genuinely care. The waiting area is great; I have had to take my car in and still been able to work on my homework. They are fast and only do the work that is necessary, but they do it well! I usually don't write reviews about businesses, but this is the most amazing business I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with. Just today I was having a lot of problems with my car and they immediately fit me into their schedule, fixed the problem (which another mechanic "fixed") and didn't charge me anything. Their prices cannot be beat, and as a college student with limited disposable income, this means a lot. They treat you like you were one of their children or a part of their family and know how important your car, time and money is. I have never been to a mechanic that was so clean and fast. Please take your vehicles here, you cannot go wrong with them. A 5 star rating isn't enough, 10 would be just scratching the surface! read more

We arrived in Blacksburg Sunday night after a long, slow trip to my daughter's VA Tech orientation. The slow part was mainly from the front-end vibration on my wife's car, obviously a busted belt on one of the front tires. I looked up Yelp reviews and decided to try Auto Master first thing in the morning. I pulled in at 8:15 to a nice looking shop with a very full parking lot. My first thought was no way, Monday morning, no appointment, this is going to be a long day! I was quickly helped by Shane at the front desk and after an overview of my tire options and a very reasonable quote, he told me they could have 4 tires installed by mid afternoon. I was very pleasantly surprised and even more so when I saw the shuttle van pull up and they offered me a ride back to school! John, the shuttle driver, turned out to be the owner, a super nice guy who even picked me at 3:00 when my car was ready. I took a stack of business cards for my daughter to hand out at school and am very comfortable knowing she will have a place to take her car for the next 4 years! read more

After I got my truck back after a couple of weeks of Auto Disaster never told me what they were doing. They said I needed a replacement used motor when my motor was just fine and running strong.and had been told that by other shops. They said they put over $1000 in my truck and were going to pay for it all. That sounded really fishy but I needed my truck so I could go to a job interview 3 hours away. After a hour and a half of driving my truck started to mess up and turns out they did something to my truck and messed up my throttle and starter. I was late to my interview and had to get my truck towed to another shop. After calling them about my truck, the mechanic proceeded to yell at me and cuss at me and say it was my fault. If you like great friendly service this is where you need to go. We left Richmond excited about our trip to Claytor Lake for the 4th in SW VA. Our car started acting up climbing the mountains. I could not accelerate and if you have ever driven in the mountains you know that is bad. I called Rob Saturday morning and explained the situation. I had to be back in Richmond for work Monday. He was so sweet to get me and fix the car. I was also very pleased with the price I was given! In Richmond I would have never received such excellent customer service! Automaster is the best car shop in town! They are quick, honest and wonderful at what they do. I've gotten great deals on tires, inspections and repairs. Their shuttle is fast and friendly, but why would you want to go back to work when you can lounge in the comfy waiting room, watch the big flat screen TV and drink complementary keurig coffee? Last winter, I was terrified when my car started making a terrible griding noise in the wheel. I took her to Automaster expecting the worst, but it turned out that I had picked up a big, frozen block of road salt mixed with gravel. They knocked it out for me and didn't charge me anything. Definitely give them a try if you need any work on your car. read more

I felt very compelled to write this review because in my opinion, I got great service at a great price. This was my first visit (for an oil change) so I was able to use a coupon (from their website). The staff was very friendly; their lounge/wait area very well equipped and comfortable (large TV, coffee, drinks, computer, wifi, children's play area). I was skeptical after seeing all of this "luxury", expecting a lot of talk about getting additional work done, but was surprised when I walked out within a short wait and without any hassles. Can't say enough about the quality of work and professionalism of the group at Automasters! They do great work at an affordable rate. I even trust them with a $1500 set of custom wheels, they got the tires mounted and balanced without a scratch! They have the best alignment guy in the business!! They are great to deal with! I have a kid with a really strong arm. Hopefully one day, he'll make a fortune in sports. Until then, he likes to slam doors. Specifically, my Honda Odyssey passenger side door. And he broke the automatic window motor. I took it to Auto Master after a recommendation and reading reviews on here. I was seriously impressed by their friendliness, disclosure, time (it took under 2 hours from pulling in to leaving -- including parts,) and well, their lightning fast free Wifi.
