Good for state inspection. I had a 7 AM appointment but the doors didn't open until 7:25ish. The staff were nice but not overly friendly. They got the job done. Make sure you look into the things they recommend. Most aren't necessary. They also mistakenly almost overcharged me $80 instead of $20. Know what you're paying for. read more

Had an oil leak, was quoted 89.99$ for a diagnostic, and when I got there the card reader said 189.99. I stopped him and made him change it. Then spent 1417$ for a timing cover seal replacement, when I got there he tried to charge me 1510$ for "credit card fee". He said it was a 3% fee. I was so out of it that I paid, then checked what 3% on top of 1417$ was... that is 1459$ not 1510$. Total scam and horrendous upcharge. Seriously sad how dishonest they are. Parents, BEWARE - Especially if you have a student in town! My son, a college student, went in for a simple inspection sticker ($20) and was pressured into a diagnostic test ($89.99) and a list of "necessary" repairs, including: Reinstalling an air make-up hose - $450.27 (Seriously?!) Then they told him he needed a license plate light--quoted $40 at first. Later, they claimed the part wasn't made anymore for his 2015 Jeep and tried to charge him $400 for it. That's when I stepped in from out of state. I didn't buy the story. I had him decline the service, take the rejection sticker, and head home. I found the exact part on Amazon--two lights for $13, shipped them to him, and he installed them in minutes. He went back and passed inspection. This place tried to take advantage of a young student, assuming he wouldn't know better. I'm posting this to warn other parents and students: Get a second opinion. You'll love this story: Brought my car in for an engine misfire issue. I knew it had to do with the spark plugs since it was time for them to be replaced. When I explained this to the front desk, the person gave me a judgmental look and said that spark plugs could not be causing the issues I was experiencing. They wanted $170 to just look at it for a diagnostic - way overpriced. The tone was rude and belittling. The gentleman realized he had run afoul and apologized for the way he communicated with me. I left and went to another auto shop back home. Shocker: all I needed were new spark plugs. I think my experience was bad because I look like a college student and the front desk thought they could scam me and treat me like an idiot. Little do they know I'm a licensed engineer from out of state that actually knows a thing or two about cars. My advice to customers: go anywhere else. My advice to the store: stop taking advantage of college students. read more

I had heard negative reviews about campus automotive, but it was the only place that could get me in for a last minute state inspection. They promised me my car by noon and were not done until 4pm. They charged the standard price for inspection and replaced my windshield wipers with replacements that "matched" the quality of the old ones. Within a month a windshield wiper broke (with little usage). When they called to update me about my car they said they would send me more information about additional things I should get worked on eventually, but they never did. The good thing about them is that they offer a courtesy shuttle. read more

I was locked out of my car at a rest stop, I'm from Texas so I wasn't really sure who to call! They were very kind and very quick to get here and I appreciated the friendly nature of them, and as far as lock out prices go it was a very reasonable 75$ (+3% for using card which totaled to 77-something.) I'm not sure what that is compared locally, but in DFW it's easily over $100 so I'm content! Especially since my poor dog was locked in the car for quite a while and he was very kind to let me get him and let him go potty before paying and all that. I would give them 0 stars if I could. They made me pay $386.25 on a technicality. As a college student, I have gone through a couple of cars; switching them out with family members accordingly. And for reference, I have lived in my current townhouse for 1 1/2 years now. In the previous car, I had last year, I had the correct sticker. I never got towed. Unfortunately, I had to take my family's minivan, and not even 1 week into having it, I was towed (no warning). Understandably, I still need to get the required sticker, as it is quite hard to attain; many documents are needed, and I was taking 18 credits at the time while working. I got it immediately, and I found that this predatory company forces the victim to pay the max the Virginia State Law allows at $150.00 for a tow and $75 a day. I grudgingly paid because, legally, I had no grounding. Fast forward to a few weeks ago and I bought my first car. Since I have switched out many cars, as a temporary replacement, I reprinted my ticket from my previous car to show that I lived here but was in the process of getting a new sticker. I come back one day and my car is gone. It is the weekend and according to google Campus Automotive is closed. I called the number, they say they are closed. The shop is closed over the weekend. With this in mind, I waited until Monday to pick up my car (not having my car ruined all my plans to get groceries over the weekend). Little did I know that they have a side entrance to the towing office that is always open. I arrived and said that I had a sticker. They say my placeholder was fabricated and I still had to pay. The woman at the desk was incredibly rude. Because they set the prices at the highest legal limit, I had to pay $386.25. This company is beyond immoral and preys on poor college students trying to get by. They took 10% of all the money I own based on a technicality. read more

They're the type of shop that tries to pull a fast one by upselling everything when you take your car in. Do not trust anyone that works here, they consistently rip off anyone I know that has had the misfortune of dealing with them. Car got towed Saturday evening, which is 100% my fault. I call the phone number listed outside the parking lot and they don't pick up. I check their business hours and it clearly says CLOSED on Saturday and Sunday. I call again Sunday morning just in case, still goes straight to voicemail after I click on the "towing" option. Given these circumstances, one would clearly assume that theyre closed on weekends and now I have to wait to pick up my car! I call Monday morning and they say I owe $330?!? ($180 baseline fee, +$75x2 per day for storage) I argue that it clearly states they're closed on the weekends and they say "go look on our website it states that we tow 24/7" Yeah obviously your tow truck is out on the streets 24/7 but how about make it clear that your facility is open for pick ups on the weekend and fix your hours listed online and your website and pick up the phone?!? I was able to get a days worth of storage fees off of my total but you know for a fact that they're in the wrong, hence why they were willing to cut down the fee and continue leeching off of students and demanding ridiculous fees that are practically 70% of my months rent. I took my car in for inspection and was failed for non-functional day time running light low brake pads and rotors. I popped open the hood and found the "non-functional" day time running light had been unplugged, which I found weird since I was the one who installed them and I do daily walk-arounds to check that everything is in working order. For the brake pads, I will write an update once I remove them. However, since I replaced the rotors and used new ceramic brake pads about 8000 miles ago, which typically last for 50,000 - 100,000 miles, I already have my doubts on their reported wear. However, all of the staff are extremely kind and will walk you through the detailed report that is given. read more

Went here to get my car inspected and they failed me for "rusty rotors". Funny because 6 months prior to the inspection I got all new rotors for the vehicle at a ford dealership. They even sent me a picture of my "rusty rotors" and they must've thought I was uneducated female on vehicles. The picture they sent me was clearly not even a rotor and they tried to play it off like it was (see picture attached). I told them to put the rejection sticker on it I was not an idiot falling for their schemes. After that incident I took my car back to ford, they laughed at campus automotive diagnosis. I went into check my mail and in support of local business - decided to order food to pick-up. Unbeknownst to me, as I waited for my to-go food, my car was towed - all within a 30 minute window. I was then lied to by the tow driver, who said he checked the post office and also received a call from the local postmaster, on a Saturday at 615pm - of all days, including a long holiday weekend. Furthermore I have a friend who works at the local post office, who confirmed that postmaster never drives by the downtown post office to request vehicles are towed. The driver clearly lied, which makes me wonder if this business can be trusted as they also do car repairs. After my experience, be warned; they are dishonest. read more

This business keeps a tow truck lurking around the Pheasant Run complex to tow guest vehicles from an area with a no parking 11am to 2pm sign. This is the area where all the Plumbers, electricians, etc... park as well. I am a service Plumber and was at Pheasant Run Saturday after 12: 30 pm for an emergency. I parked in this area to service the tenant and Campus came and towed my plumbing truck right in the middle of my call. I had to call my wife to come get me to take me to their impound. They alleged I had "double parked" as well and charged me $150 to get my truck back. At Campus I explained who I was and what I was doing and they said who cares? that's business! Then they wouldn't take my business check. I am a well established Blacksburg plumbing business! I got upset they wouldn't take my check and the owner stormed in and ordered the receptionist to call the cops to intimidate me. In my opinion this is a disgraceful business with a disgraceful business owner. read more

They also said my tire had a puncture and could not be patched. Cost would be $630 for hose and I would have to get new tire (I estimate that cost would have been $250. They put a rejection sticker on car. I picked up car and my boyfriend took it to a reputable mechanic for inspection this Morning was the . It's a shame that this law is about catching anybody who's parked rather than judging the circumstances around them and then deciding on towing. In my opinion, if there's empty spots and you're not in reserved parking, the tower should make their own judgment. It's sad to charge kids trying to pay their tuition any chance you get. read more

Do not go here. They are the classic place that you go in for an inspection and they find a lot of "issues" with your car. I took my car in for a state inspection and they told me my wiper blades were torn. I had only used the blades for a week. I'm not convinced they didn't damage the blades themselves but unfortunately I had not checked before bringing it in. Additionally, they charge a lot of questionable fees for their services. For example, they charged me a "shop fee" to change the blades while simultaneously telling me labor was free. I believe this business takes advantage of college students who are not familiar with the inspection process and upcharges them. Avoid them and do not give them business. read more
