They tried to change their name to hide the bad reviews haha. Look up "grace auto max." Awful customer service, rude lady in the front and the other guy doesn't even know what's going on. I went here for an inspection despite reading the bad reviews thinking "well what could go wrong? It's just an inspection." Well I learned my lesson dealing with their deceptive practices. I took my RV with horrible customer service, and the house /Cabin batteries were dead. A person did not bother to come out and check what exactly I wanted to explain. He acted as if he was busy on his computer and that he understood everything. They inspected the main battery and did not even bother to check if the batteries had problems. Charged me for something where there was no issue. In the end, they recommended I take my RV to an RV place. It could have been done first when I called them and explained the problem. I will also complain with every possible platform. They are not even realizing that there was a miss understanding on their end and try to accommodate. read more

Worst experience ever I'll admit, my registration has been expired for TWO YEARS. But, after budgeting time and money, I was finally ready to figure out why the tire pressure and check engine lights were on and to have an inspection so I could then get the registration renewed. I brought my car to Auto Max on April 29th. Since I knew I was walking in on a Saturday I didn't have a problem with the three hour wait time, thanks to Hulu and unlimited data. I was told there was nothing mechanical wrong with my car and that it was PCU problem and I would just need it reflashed and the lights would go off. However the person to do that worked at other shops and he wasn't available that day. Fine, I arranged to get off work early that following Wednesday and be there at 5:30 to have the service done. The front desk guy seemed so nice and assured that I paid cash in advance for the service. Wednesday rolled around and I rushed over to the shop after work...to find the reflasher guy was running an hour late. "It's Houston" I thought, "traffic is always horrible this time of day". So once again, with Hulu's help I hunkered down at waited. My car was finally ready around 7:00 PM and to my delight both lights were off! I pulled away from the shop...and my tire pressure light came back on immediately. I came right back and the front desk guy hurried to help and put air in my tires and the light went off. I asked why, if it had been reflashed, the light had come back on and he said it had nothing to do with the PCM, the tires just needed air...why this was not done initially on Saturday was beyond me, but I headed home just happy all lights were off. Less than 12 hours later as I was driving to work the check engine light came back on. I called the shop. And called and called and called. Despite the advertisements that it opens at 7:00 AM, my calls were not answered until around 8:30 AM. The front desk guy, once again very cheerful and knowledgeable sounding said that sometimes the reflashes "don't stick" and that's usually why people will leave their cars with them so that the mechanics could drive it a bit in case this happened. I don't think that the shop guy realizes that we live in Houston and not somewhere with ample and convenient public transportation because he acted as though 80% of the people that came through the shop were leaving their cars for servicing without any inconveniences. However, this was not an option for me. So fine, I said. I'll bring in my car the following Friday, leave it overnight for additional testing but I needed it by 1pm on Saturday. I had not budgeted time for the job not to be done correctly in the first place. The front desk guy said he's pretty sure it was the same problem and not to worry they would run the tests. I bring it back Friday and called early Saturday morning. They'd run the diagnostic and found the same problem. However, once again, there was not a tech available to do the reflashing. Now why, if the same problem was suspected and it was known that I had time constraints, had an alternative tech not been secured to finish the work before 1pm on Saturday is beyond me. So I agreed to bring my car back AGAIN the following Monday. Monday I was running about 10 minutes late and called the shop to let them know, only to be told that the front desk guy was now feeling under the weather, so much so that he'd forgotten to confirm with the reflashing guy to come today and the guy would be unable to make it. At this point I'd had enough and asked for my money back, only to be told that since I'd paid cash he didn't have enough in his register and I would still have to come back to get it. He said he would have a tech lined up for the next day and the job would be done. The poor sick front desk guy told me that they'd already paid the tech so if I got my money back it would be a total loss...as if I hadn't lost five days already dealing with this and I was nowhere closer to getting my inspection and registration. Reluctantly I said ok. But today I checked with the Better Business Bureau and that particular shop has three complaints for basically my same reason- shoddy diagnosis and unnecessary work that didn't fix the problem. So today I'm going back for what I hope is the last time to get my money back. I've experienced some horrible service in my life, but this ranks right up there. Today my daughter Lanie learned an important lesson on keeping receipts for personal records. I do however thank Mr. Arthur and Mr. Max for correcting a mistake. This Auto Max is the truth. They work hard in making sure their Customers get the proper mechanics needed for your car. My sister Angelitha Gorden suggested this location after seeing the madness we were going through with the Missouri City location. Very very bad experience.The manager was over worked and understaffed.He promised to deliver my car two different days but didn't and would not call to let me know he wasn't coming.Two auto techs were loud,rude and cursed me out when I asked about my car! I mean profanity using the 'f' word! My car runs worst now but at least it moved away from there. I will never ever use this location again! read more

Called one time for a quote, and went in the first thing next morning. I went into the lobby waited for about 5 mins. Then the old man walked in and stared at me. I told I called, and wanted the service I called the day before. Then the old guy gave me a death starefor a solid 2 mins. which made me uncomfortable. Then tells me he won't help me. I have used this shop a couple of times recently for work on my very old Suburban with high miles. Their counterman is extremely good. He listens very carefully to my issues and pays attention to my time constraints. If he says it will be ready in an hour, 59 minutes later he is bringing me my paperwork. On a recent rainy day while going into work my wipers just quit working all together. I was booked solid with appointments and under a huge amount of stress. He told me it was going to take a few hours due to a special part having to be ordered. I told him about my appointments and he offered me their shop car to borrow while my car was being repaired. I was thrilled at the offer. I recently moved into the area where their store it and was looking for a new place to get my car worked on and I sure found it! Highest recommendation read more

My experience here. This franchised location opened about November 2010. The shop was clean and appealing. The work was done in a timely manner. Now for the bad stuff. I believe I was overcharged for the following, but I signed the work order so nothing can be done about it. The charge for a starter on my 99 Plymouth Voyager was $297.10 after a so called discount. The cost to me at two Auto parts stores would have been $114.99. Auto repair shops get a discount from that price. Labor charge for less than one hour was a so called discounted rate of $154.13. There was a SUPPLY CHARGE of $22.56. Turns out the starter has a core charge which is refunded on return of the old unit. The only supplies would have been possibly a shop TOWEL to wipe hands with as no fluids were involved. The manager told me the starter was a special one where he had to bring in the VIN number to get the correct one. This turned out to be not truthful. I would advoid this repair shop because of the above experience. I know I could have gone elsewhere but I was towed there ($50). I went there as it was close and to keep the tow charge minimal. read more

I don't know when new management took over. Since then my experiences with Auto Max have been great. I always deal with Ms. Kelly Gubosh for scheduling and explanation of the problem and solution. She and her team are extremely customer friendly. The mechanics are good. On one occasion I had to return to correct a problem that I thought had been resolved. They stood behind their work and got right on it and corrected the issue. It's great to have an auto shop nearby that you can trust. My "go to" mechanic is 10 miles away. read more
