LOL at this repair shop. First off, they are extremely overpriced. I feel like an idiot getting fixes on my car here. I spent over $4,000 for a new power steering pump, alignment, and they somehow found that my steering was still not straight (even though it was not an issue before) so they called me and told me everything they needed to do. Since I travel for work 5 days a week, I felt I had no choice but to let them continue and finish the service. When I brought the final cost and services to a different auto repair shop, they felt so bad for me for spending the money I did. That's when I knew I made a big, big mistake. They also don't have an issue pressuring you into making sure they get to work on your car. They want to overcharge and take advantage of people who have little to no car maintenance experience. They also take too long to get simple repairs done. I had my car dropped off for the above service. During that time, I needed to get a rental because they didn't have any loaner cars available (according to them). They promised me it would only take 2 days. I called every day for 4 days and then they changed the pick up day/time for the following day. Finally was ready. BUT WAIT! THERE'S MORE!! I drove about 5 miles and started hearing noises as I drove on the main road. I took it back and they said my struts were worn out and they needed to be replaced. I asked them how did they not catch that during my initial service? They told me they didn't hear anything during the test drive and they didn't do anything to those parts of the car. BULLCRAP! They did a wheel alignment (or did they?). I took it to Les Schwab and they said my struts were fine that they were just loose and they did what they did for free and sent me on my way. My assumption for that is they want to take their sweet a$$ time so they can charge more for labor costs. So many issues with this crap auto repair company. I encourage anyone who is thinking of getting services done here to go elsewhere. Literally anywhere else in Moscow or Pullman. Heck, travel to Spokane/CDA if you have to. It will save you so much time, money and frustrations! read more

I reached out to The Hive Auto Repair, and from the very first conversation with Sivan, I felt completely at ease. They were able to get my son in quickly, which was a huge relief because he'll be on the road soon. During the oil change, Sivan and his team noticed a couple of things that needed attention and took care of them right away. I really appreciated how clear and honest they were throughout the process. As a mom, knowing there's a reliable place my son can go to if anything ever comes up means everything. Called the hive this morning about 730 To to see about an issue with my wife new to her outback. From the car fax I saw that hive had a one year history with the car. For me that is a great sign. Though when I called I got a recorded message. But within minutes I had a call back. My heart was telling me it was just a battery issue but I appreciate the details on the call on details. I asked if i had it to them in 30 minutes what are the chances of getting it in. No problem They were very up front about the diagnosis to really make sure that the problem was not more than what i thought. I have had services done where there is not a deep dive and it come back to bite you. With in a few hours we got a call that all look good but battery was shot. The gave me the price. Completely fair as I just got a battery in my ram. We got there to pay and they waved the diagnostic fee as we kinda knew it was the battery but i appreciate the extra steps. I tried to have my oil changed and my brakes looked at in November of 2024. I dropped it off around noon and told it would be done by noon the next day, and they'd call me to let me know it was ready. When it rolled around to 5pm the next day, I called and they told me they hadn't started it but it would be done by 10 the next morning. Again, three hours after they said it would be done I hadn't received a response so I had to uber over only to be told they hadn't started AGAIN. I told them I wanted to take my business elsewhere, and the man at the front desk was very rude and condescending to me. He acted like I didn't know what I was talking about, but he was courteous to the man next to me the entire time. Not woman friendly, and not honest. Graham is such an attentive guy to catch you up to speed in layman terms of what's going on with your car. He got our 2004 Honda Accord an appointment super quick from the time we contacted them (which has been an issue with other providers in the area). We got this car for a steal, but there was a lot of damage and abandoned upkeep. The team at The Hive turned that around quickly! I feel so much more confidence driving in it. Last week, we had our ignition lock and oil change done by Manny. Super quick turn-around, and they copied two new keys for us. (: Full visual inspection is worth it if you're worried about multiple unknowns. This week, Jeff serviced our car's spark plugs and transmission; while doing so, he caught an air tube in decomposition. They replaced it free of charge to keep us safe. (: My partner's going out to the West Side next weekend, so I'm glad that I can trust that the car will start and run without issues with all of the injuries/maintenance identified and corrected. This team has earned my love and loyalty. When I have the cash, I'm bringing in our other car for some needed work--knowing that I can depend on the quality work and kind, effective communication in doing so. (Also appreciate the organized, clear layout of their work forms--it's going to be a lifesaver as we look at future maintenance to keep the car in great shape after the previous owners neglected it!) I went to this place to get an oil change and to check out and issue I was having with my speedometer. They had my car for five days and was unable to find the issue. That's not the reason I'm giving them a bad review. The issue is I was charged for a service I declined. My bill even states I declined the service. I was given direct confirmation from one of the employees the service would not be done, yet I was still charged $120. This place is a scam. read more

Wow. Where to start?... Basically, I brought my vehicle in for some help with a minor repair, and they repaired that problem. The mechanic who was in charge of working on my vehicle mentioned that I had a dash light on and they asked if they could do the work needed to fix the underlying issue. I said that I wasn't concerned about the dash light, that I had a diagnostic ran for it previously at Auto Zone and it came back as having something to do with a censor, but otherwise I wasn't concerned with the dash light. I mentioned that I was concerned with an exhaust smell that would get into the car, and that I would be interested in them fixing the exhaust smell. The diagnostic tool they used, they said, indicated that the check engine light was due to a leak in the fuel system. The mechanic must have assumed that me saying it was an exhaust smell was somehow the underlying cause leading to the check engine light, and proceeded to work on finding a fuel system leak. That sounds reasonable if you're not a good mechanic and don't know that an exhaust smell and a gas smell indicate different systems, the difference being diagnosing the problem in the exhaust system versus the fuel system. The mechanic at some early point in this process told me that the exhaust smell was directly related to the check engine light, and that it was the same problem. This detail is important later on... That being said, they said it was difficult to see the cause in the fuel system but thought it was the fuel canister and replaced that. I paid around $800 for this and got the car back and experienced the same problem and the funny thing is that the dash light never went away other than the original startup after clearing the dash codes. My gut tells me that the mechanic who worked on my vehicle could not get rid of the dash light and used the clearing tool to clear the check engine light. That gut feeling has nothing to do with my review score, it's just a thought. Anyway, I called and complained and the owner, Rob Borden, said I could bring the vehicle back in but didn't offer to remedy the situation, just to do and charge more work. I declined because I wasn't going to engage them for a second time to fix the exhaust smell I engaged them to resolve. I would have brought it back if they were going to fix the original problem and not charge me as if it were an entirely new instance. Well, I took the vehicle to a different auto repair business locally and the mechanic there found the problem almost immediately without ever even using a diagnostic tool, fixed it, and charged me almost $250 less than The Hive. The problem was several cracks in and one huge crack/split in the exhaust manifold. It one thing to make a mistake, but the thing that The Hive didn't do that bothered me was that they didn't try and rectify the situation. They didn't offer to make it right. Part II of this is that I took them to small claims court and told my side of the story as I presented it here in all material respects. Rob Borden, shared the transcript of a phone call we had in the middle of getting this fixed, for context, Rob was not the mechanic working on my car and did not know what the mechanic represented to me, anyway, in this phone call I asked if there were any recalls on the work they were doing as part of the check engine light. If you recall from earlier, it was presented to me by the mechanic at the beginning of our conversations, that the problem was the cause of the check engine light coming on and that fixing what they mistakenly thought was the problem would take care of the exhaust smell inside the vehicle. So, Rob cherry-picked this evidence of me on the phone asking a question about the manufacturer recalls as his proof that I was in there asking for the check engine light to get taken care of. The only evidence I had were receipts, and since that mechanic didn't work there anymore, the mechanic who I spoke with about fixing the exhaust smell could not verify what was actually agreed upon at the outset. Unfortunately, the judge accepted that one recorded conversation which occurred after the mechanic told me that these issues were one and the same, and later on it must have crossed my mind to speak in terms of the exhaust smell being one and the same with the check engine light when asking if this was related to a factory recall. I understand why incomplete evidence is better than no evidence, but it was taken completely out of context and the judge erred on their side as they did not provide an engagement letter for which I could point to, to substantiate the work I engaged them in doing for me. In short, they didn't do the work I asked them to do, and they charged me over $800 for it, and nothing changed. Rob's face went pale when I told him the real problem and he felt screwed. I'm new to Pullman, WA and a new friend of mine recommended I give The Hive a call for a simple install of a air intake snorkel. The job itself would take an hour or less from bumper removal to getting it off jack stands/lift. Unfortunately, being new here I don't have tools or space to work on my own vehicle. Anyways, I gave them a call to get a quote and I was given a rough estimate for an hour or two. $100 per hour for labor, Not bad. I did advise them I would stick around since I don't live in the area. Set an appointment for a week later. The day of install, I arrive 20 minutes early to my appointment and allow them to open with no pressure. Shortly after opening, I was greeted by two gentleman at the front desk. They asked what services I was there for. I let them know I had an appointment at 8am for a intake snorkel install. One of them advised that I'd be waiting up to 6-8 hours until they could get to my vehicle and that I'd be waiting a long time. I had a feeling that they didn't even want to work on my car or even earn my business. Regardless, I took my business elsewhere and I ended up paying less too. My question is.. what's the whole point of scheduling an appointment? I wish I could have rated them on their work but as for the customer service, 1 out of 5. read more

Took my car in because the wheel was shaking (so I was thinking I needed to get it realigned). They told me there was nothing wrong with alignment, charged me $80 for them having to look at it, and sent me on my way. A week later one of my tires blew because the alignment was so bad that the rim was digging into the wheel. Went to Les Schwab and it took them 30 seconds to tell me the alignment was very messed up and they fixed it for cheap. The Hive's literally just a scam don't take your car there. Also, they have a big sign out front saying they do military discounts. I'm a vet so I asked and they said they don't have a military discount... read more

Car had a bad wheel bearing. Or so I thought, so I brought it in to the Auto Repair at The Hive for a diagnostic of the car and see if they can find the problem. Told me it was definitely the wheel bearing on my front right tire and charged me 900$ which I only agreed because I had to get this fixed before I drove my car back to seattle in 3 days. Well they did the repair and after driving off I immediately heard the noise that I brought the car in for so when I brought my car in next, they checked my car and not even 15 minutes later they tell me the noise was a rock that was stuck in between my brake rotor and brake pad. So basically they charged me 900$ to take a rock out of my brakes. Thanks Auto Repair at the Hive. And thanks for no refund either. Unless you want to get 'stung' do not get your car serviced here. I went in to get a simple oil change because the price was so low. I went in at 11 AM on Friday and did not come out until after 1 PM! That was because the young mechanic took me back to the shop where my car was up on a jack. He showed me under my car and pointed out a matter so concerning that it would entail a new engine. The quote I received was for $8000!! Then he took me to the tire at the back of the car and pushed on the right wheel to show me how it was not completely intact and would eventually fall off at the ball joint and painting me a picture of how it would endanger me while driving. Later on he came out with a dirty can of oil supposing it to be mine and shined a flashlight on the oil to reveal flecks of metal in my oil to prove further that my engine was failing fast. That night my dash flashed lights which signals an issue. I went to Auto Zone for a diagnostic and all that was revealed was a faulty air filter sensor. She had me check the oil since she warned me that others were unhappy with their services at the Hive. When I took out the dip stick it appeared well over the markings for oil, so an overfill. My normal mechanic warned me not to drive my car or get it in quickly to a close shop right away and not go back to The Hive! I took my car into Eberly at the suggestion of my best mechanic and they replace my air filter sensor and confirmed that my oil was clean and did not contain specks of metal after draining a little out. They attested as well as my normal mechanic that they had many of The Hive's customers that were either led astray or were given a run down of all the things that were wrong with their car only to find out it was not true!! In the past they were good, but now this is a place to avoid. Brought my car in for tire rotation, and they told me that the front drivers wheel bearing was bad (even though it was not making noise like they usually do). I agreed over the phone to have them fix it since it was already there, and they charged me $800! First thing they did wrong was the alignment, had to bring it back because it pulled hard to the right. Took them a while to get it to go reasonably straight again. Within days the brake pad wear sensor light came on, because they did not secure the connector and it was flopping around and broke the wires. I decide to live with that and the minor rattle that they introduced in the wheel bearing replacement, but over time the rattle grew louder. Finally took it back and they fixed the brake issue, but diagnosed the rattle as a bad bearing plate in the strut mount. Strut mounts are relatively new. After I got home I looked at it myself and found that they simply neglected to tighten the strut mount when they did the alignment after the wheel bearing replacement. The shop manager diagnosed the problem as the bearing plate, without even looking at the mount itself! I tightened it and the rattle was gone, but now the alignment might be off. Not going back again though. After the wheel bearing cost shock, I called a dealer for a quote - same price as the Hive, but the dealer would have also replaced the hub, and probably with OEM parts. Only go to the Hive now if you want to pay dealership prices for shoddy work. read more

My husband recently had his old pick-up truck repaired. Here is his review: The good: They were very friendly, quickly identified the problem with my truck and got the parts. Now my truck runs great! The bad: I called and asked if they could fix my truck that was misfiring on one cylinder. They said they could look at my truck the next day. I dropped it off. The next day I got a lengthy inspection report, with recommendations to fix the misfiring cylinder and over a dozen other problems. Three were labeled as critical. Since it's an old truck, I only had them fix the critical items. The price seemed high, but I was busy, and tired of trying to fix it myself. $300 to replace a battery. If they got a top of the line $150 battery, that's a hefty charge for 10 min of work. $300 to replace the $15 throttle position sensor. Another hefty labor charge for 15 min of work. $800 to replace the ignition coil and spark plugs ($70 in parts). That's $730 for 30 min of work. On the phone there was no mention of an inspection charge. I assumed the exorbitant rates must include the inspection. No. $170 to inspect the truck. As other reviews have noted, none of the charges were itemized. Another clue of price gauging, that you don't discover until you get the bill. read more

This place is horrible! They wanted to charge me $610.00 to replace a starter. I bought one for $120.00 and did it myself in 1/2 hour. That would mean that they were basically charging $490.00 for labor. I ordered the starter and got it the next day. They were very rude when I told them that I was going to do the work myself. He even had the gall to tell me that he would drop the price to $400.00. That tells me that they were overcharging me for the work and were trying to still overcharge me by only a little to get the job. They said that they would leave it on the lot for me to pick up. These guys were so good to me. I went to them mostly because they were close to work and I could drop off the car in the am and still get to work on time. But they turned out to be awesome. They've done a battery change, an oil change, and a wheel bearing change and more for my Outback with no problems. They even gave me a rental for free. They are a little pricey, but trustworthy. They attempted to fix my exhaust the first time and left the oxygen sensor out of the pipe and leaning against the exhaust... This caused more damage to my car and trashed the O2 sensor. Another mechanic caught it and also pointed out they had installed the wrong cat converter. Because rig was still having issues I took it back to them (didn't want to but it was their mistake to fix and figured they would surely try and do a better job after the first fiasco...) NOPE. I still had to pay to have it repaired (I had to pay for parts except sensor) and 3 WEEKS later the exhaust is loose from MANIFOLD, it's loud, and everything is not working AGAIN. I contacted them and THEY are not returning calls or texts. On a previous repair their mechanic didint even test drive the car and I had to tkae it back TWICE. ALSO, had two loaner cars thru this process from them (shop owned) and both broke down on me... Says something when a mechanic shop can't keep their own fleet running. read more

Got my car serviced a few times at the Hive and thought it was a good group of guys giving me a good deal. BUT recently, check engine light came on, taken 2-3 weeks just to get it diagnose by them and now another week or two waiting on parts and labor. ALSO I come to find out by googling the error code it is under warranty and the dealership will do it all for free. Not going back to the hive, you lost a customer that spoke highly of you. Would rather drive 1-2 hours to the dealership who surprisingly quotes me half the price you guys do on services and gets it done in half the time. read more

My brake performance on my Harley had gotten pretty bad. I got new pads and stuff to flush my brake fluid, but found the rear master was in a nasty spot. I hadn't had any work done at The Hive before and thought this would be a good candidate to have some light work done. I spoke with Rob the owner. He was very straight forward and a guy I could easily get along with. They got me in super fast, charged reasonably, and were very open and honest with the work they did. So, I bring my truck in to these guys earlier this am. I thought my u-joint might be out. I drive a lifted S.U.V. , I had to replace almost the whole front end last year. Everything from the gear box, tie rod ends, pitman arm, idler arm, upper control arms, front axles, radiator, radiator hoses, hose clamps, thermostat, front and rear shocks. It did have a slight coolant leak, miniscule to the point of I drove all the way from Texas here and it has not overheated at all. I tell the guy I had partially installed a condensor, but it was the wrong one. It did not have any lines connected or freeon in it. I said, I imagine your mechanic could pull it with a tool in probably 5 min. I get a txt earlier saying my vehicle was ready, I check the bill and they charged $265 to pull it out. I called immediately and asked why he charged so much for a 5 min job. Told him I would be over in a few minutes and I could not pay full price for partial ac condensor removal. He said he would comp the charge and I should probably take it somewhere else, since I could not afford them. I show up and my truck is parked 3 blocks away and its literally pinned in by 2 little cars. I had to hang my driver door open to look behind me while backing, because my truck was parked so close. I get it half way home and pull over and look under my truck and it is pouring coolant everywhere... I could not even get it home before running out of coolant and almost overheating my vehicle. I was in towing and recovery for over 15 years and have never seen anyone treat someone so poorly and sabotage a customers vehicle ever!!! Especially when I only brought it in for diagnostics and price quote's. This guy does not charge hourly like regular shops, he makes up a price!!! I asked before bringing it in how they charge per job, so I could have enough money to pay for their service! I would NEVER EVER RECOMMEND this shop to anyone! I still paid the $90 for diagnostic and $50 to pull the condensor, still got treated bad! BEWARE!!!!! read more

i took my car in because it had an unusual sound going on. they looked at it and told me what needed to be fixed. the main thing that was wrong was the alternator needed to be replaced, which i understand can take a while to fix, but they were trying to charge me almost $1000 to fix it. when my dad spoke to them, he asked them to send him an itemized receipt before approving the services, and they couldn't because they told him they didn't know the costs for the part, labor, etc. they told my dad the cost of labor depended on the mechanic's experience level. they also charged me $150 to just look at what was going on with my car. when speaking to someone at another mechanic shop, they said this place usually charges almost twice the amount of what they charge their customers at their shop. the guy at the front desk was very nice, but what they charge is not worth it. read more

Took my vehicle here to have transmission fluid changed along with winter tires. They changed the tires and fluid but never changed the filter, it was too time consuming they said. When I got the bill, it was 2.5 hours to change the transmission fluid and they billed me $21 a quart for transmission fluid X 5 quarts! I looked up the same exact product at the local parts store for $9 dollars a quart. My total bill was $472. Then they said my front end was dangerous to drive, I shouldn't even drive it across town...it would be another $1050. To repair front struts, and they cautioned...who knows what else we will find when we take it apart! I took the estimate home to look up the part number to find they were over charging me again on the parts by atleast $150 per strut/$300. I paid the bill, had my car towed to another place and the struts were repaired for $580, drives like a charm! The Hive guys were nice but they are slick! When I questioned the price of things they passed the buck around to each other before I got an answer, that's what it costs us....hey, I don't mind you guys making a little profit on parts but jeez, just reach in my pocket and steel money? If you go here, ask for an estimate, check the prices elsewhere because they price gouge! read more

I came here for an oil change and over all inspection and the ended up scratching my hood....they found something else and I said ok let's just get it done and out of the way. Set it up and they ended up ordering the wrong parts. Then because of them ordering the wrong parts it took two days when I was told it would only take an afternoon to fix and when it was ready to be picked up I got there and they told me it still wasn't ready! Other then that their prices are fair and first responders and Heath care can get discounts. Up to you.... read more

I brought my daughter to WSU for a orientation session, and ended up having my alternator go out while I was there visiting. It was very stressful finding a reputable mechanic, tow truck and then having to go buy the needed part. Rob happened to be in the area where I broke down, and helped along with some others to push my car out of the way where it was blocking traffic. He mentioned The Hive, and I decided to have him replace the alternator. My car was back to me in under three hours! I would not hesitate to use him again, but hopefully will not have to. Not only was the price fair, the speed of the repair was amazing. Everything he promised he followed through on. Next time I'm in Pullman needing a cab ride, his company will be my first choice. My daughter had a nail in her tire which was still holding air. We decided to get it repaired before the 300 mile drive back to Seattle. We took it to the Hive for repair. I was expecting him to take it off the car and take it off the rim to repair it. Instead he just tried to stuff a plug in it saying it was faster. I should have left then. Instead I let him proceed out of curiousity. The tire made the drive home but was totally flat the next morning. We took it to Discount Tire to repair it correctly only they can't because of the damage that was done by the previous repair. Now I have to replace a perfectly good tire because I took it to the wrong place to begin with. Live and learn. read more
