"Take your money and get out of my face!" - German P. Rodriguez, Auto Tech Sercive Center CEO This has probably been one of the most unprofessional people I have had to deal with. I went in because my car overheated and there appeared to be a coolant leak. German told me that it was the coolant flange and a coolant hose that caused the car to overheat. He quoted me $450. I thought it was a little steep given the low cost of the parts, but I didn't say anything since I needed my car ASAP for work. I picked it up after the repair and was surprised by the quick turn around. While driving to work? My car overheats again! I text German and he says he can take a look at it (never mentioning a diagnostic fee this time). Now he tells me it's the tempature housing and quotes me $320. After a little back and forth, he comes down to $290. Despite him having supposedly fixed the issue and already having charged me hundreds of dollars I agree... I assumed he would actually fix the issue this time. I was wrong. I picked up my car a second time. As I try driving to work... my car OVERHEATS AGAIN. Two tows and $740 later, and my car is still overheating. This time I call German, who starts saying he essentially doesn't know what's wrong with my car. I asked him if he can take a look at it again and he refuses. I then told him that he can look at my car again or refund me the $290. He then said he wouldn't do either. Eventually he says he would only refund me the $200, claiming he would keep $90 for a diagnostic fee. Mind you 1) he didn't actually diagnose the issue, 2) he had already included a $40 diagnostic fee in the original $450, and 3) never told me about a diagnostic fee the second time around. I told him that was unacceptable and explained that he didn't diagnose the problem. He still did not want to refund the $290 or look at my car and was extremely rude about it. After receiving a lot of attitude from German, I was fed up and told him I was going to file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Shortly after he shouted "Take your money and get out of my face!" and hung up on me. As far as the $450 I mentioned a refund initial but he said that was a different problem, although the reason I took it in the first place was to get my car fixed so as to not overheat. I realize he wasn't going to budge on that amount no matter how hard I tried to explain. read more

Experiences were mixed during a number of years of major engine work done at this shop. I decided to move all automotive activities north to Santa Clara shops where the work was more better quality and fair pricing. The best anyone can do is shop around and "buyer beware". Ask around this area and consider their experiences but, my family comes first as we learned over the years to look elsewhere. Maybe the best thing for this area is an improving selection of businesses to choose from. read more

My friend and I were going on a camping trip when her 'check engine' light came on in her Saab- this after having been looked over by another mechanic a few days earlier. Auto Tech fit us in, found the problem and in a couple hours we were on our way- and in a freshly washed car, too! read more

I took my girlfriend's car in to replace one headlight lamp in a car that it's difficult to get to. Called the day after Christmas and he took the car that day, which in itself was a miracle. There were two possible bulbs: one $15 and one $95. It took the $15 bulb, which is what he charged, and the total bill was beyond reasonable ESPECIALLY on the day after Christmas. A gift for me and my girlfriend! They washed the car too, which he says they do time and personnel permitting. Other reviews state washing the car as well. Completely fair and honest pricing. Not sure which part made me happier - getting my starter replaced so I didn't have to worry about getting stranded somewhere, or the fact that they washed my car inside and out, and it looked spectacular! German and his staff were extremely helpful, took care of my Honda exactly as promised, and I am back on the road. Thank you! read more

I give them one star for picking up the phone after that it was all discouragement about actually fixing a radiator. I try to shop local but no connection they act like they are the only business in town they must have have a lot of work for the moment.Tired of these shops either trying to get more work out people by selling fear and I have bigger problems with my car.Not going to fall for it Iwill be destined to find the right honest mechanic. read more

We have been going to Auto Tech since moving to Hollister in 2003. German Rodrigues is the owner. He is very knowledgable and will only do the work on your car that is necessary. If you do have a problem with something they have repaired German is quick to take care of the problem. read more

I wanted someone honest and that I could trust. German was referred to me by a friend. I have not been disappointed. That fact that he always cleans my car before I pick it up was a major perk. A couple years ago I went to my local Ford dealer and got a quote for work done on my car they quoted me $1,600. From a suggestion I took it to Auto Tech and had German look at it he quoted me $250 for the same work. when I went to pick up my car it was $238 for the same work. German has to be the best mechanic in town and most honest totally. and every time you get your car service there or work done to it a detail the car inside and out. if you're new to Hollister check Autotech out and talk to German.
