I bought a vehicle from Sunny over 4 years ago. I experienced the same service that the other 1-star reviews mentioned - bad attitude, no test driving unless COMMITTED to buy, nobody on the lot, lots of waiting around, etc. I noticed a few issues on the test drive but ended up buying because at the time I thought it was a good deal. After spending almost the same amount of money as I bought the vehicle for to rebuild the engine *AND* transmission as well as other maintenance that was not performed I have learned that Sunny most likely has a shady friend with a SMOG station that clears engine fault codes and gives them passing grades even when their engine block is cracked and is leaking coolant and oil into the exhaust. The biggest red flag I should have seen is that Sunny was using a Land Cruiser to tow vehicles around the Bay Area (including from the Auctions he buys broken vehicles at). I now believe that he was initially using my truck to tow these vehicles and completely ruined the transmission doing that before switching to a Land Cruiser that he had found. If you do decide that it's worth the HUGE risk of buying a vehicle here, do your research, pay for a mechanic to inspect the vehicle and DO NOT DENY THE policy that allows you to take back the vehicle within 48 hours or whatever it was. read more

This was the BEST used car experience Ever! PLEASE READ ON! Sunny was really easy to work with. He won't discuss price until you test drive and he won't let you test drive unless he thinks your serious. (Fair Enough) Other reviews complained about those two issues so I called and asked about the reviews before driving to Santa Cruz from San Jose. Sunny knew I would be working on financing in Minnesota when I arrived and after signing the sales agreement gave me time to complete that. After my brother, who lives in San Jose, and I drove it we knew it needed to be aligned and it needed new front tires. Sunny offered to have the work done, at his cost, at a tire shop in San Jose. With that I paid his asking price. Before looking at the car we checked Edmunds for the value and knew he was asking a fair price so we happily agreed. The repair shop he sent us to ordered tires to match the rear tires and aligned the front and rear. Clearly he has a long standing relationship with them because billing Sunny was not an issue. I couldn't be happier with my Chrysler Sebring Convertible! I drove it 3000 miles back to Minnesota. My husband and I crossed deserts and climbed up and down mountains without any trouble. When my daughter is ready to buy a car I will absolutely call Sunny! Post Script: I told Sunny that I'd give him a good review on Yelp given his other reviews. He said he never asks for that. Currently paying off a car from here. They are really good about the cars they sell. I've almost had my car in my possession for year now, and no problem yet. They carry a variety of cars, and i doubt you'll see the same car or type twice on their lot. Not to mention the prices are with in reason. Also, they do print out a carfax for you to look at. If I ever am looking to buy another car, I'll be coming back. I've also told friends and aquintances about this place. Stopped in to test drive a car we had researched online. It was in the shop being repaired. He had a similar model on the lot that had more of the features that we were looking for (3rd row seating, moonroof, etc...) We were allowed to look at it but he refused to let us take it for a test drive because it wasn't the vehicle we were initially interested in. He explained that because his cars have higher miles he doesn't like to let people test drive them. What a fool! Obviously we took our business elsewhere. read more

Beware! I was ready to buy a car at the Santa Cruz location from the owner Sunny. I drove about 45 minutes to see the car and test drive it. I looked at the car, looked great and as soon as I asked to test drive the car, Sunny (The owner) said "NO! I only let people drive my cars if they are committed to buying the car. I don't want people putting miles on my car then decide they don't want it." HUGE RED FLAG! Why would I commit to a car that I couldn't test drive first? I'm a professional business woman! I will not tolerate this the kind of service or spend my hard earned dollars with someone like this! I'm glad I took my business somewhere else. read more

Sunny is the best guy ever! We just sold our car to his dealer and he is very very helpful and friendly from the beginning to the end! Not to mention that he bought our car with a very good price, too! He even offered to pay half of the money upfront, and let us have the car for the next 10 days before we were ready to hand it to him. He also gave us a free ride home! What an excellent service! We just purchased a car from Sunny and couldn't be happier. I was glad to have Neil's advice that Sunny doesn't negotiate on the price. No haggling made our buying experience so much more relaxed. Sunny purchases the cars at auction and puts them on his lot. His integrity and continued business are on the line and it was clear to us that that really means something to him. We would absolutely return to buy from Sunny again. He has the cars inspected by a local repair shop. If that inspection or a customer has a car inspected before purchase and something turns up, he immediately takes the car off his lot (parks it off the sales lot) and sells it at auction "as is." At auction, everyone knows that "as is" means there is something wrong with the car so Sunny's integrity is still intact. Sunny was patient with our questions, personable and happy to explain all the details of the paperwork and loan process. I guess this guy runs a shop in both San Carlos & Santa Cruz. I e-mailed (no response), called, & went to the Santa Cruz location & dealt with Sunny. He had a bad attitude on the phone & admitted to not even having a mechanic check out his cars first before selling them--Sunny says he just takes them for a test drive himself & notices anything obvious. Hmmm... Then I pulled up for our appt. & no one was on the grounds or in the office, so I called him again & he was really rude to me on the phone & was talking to someone else at the same time. I stopped by Sunny's Santa Cruz location last month and I am sure he thought I was just a looky lurker, but I found my perfect car! I assured him the following day I was serious! He supplied me with all the documentation I needed to go to the local credit union to get a loan. He prices his cars to sell with no negotiations, very fair I must say! I got a beautiful BMW that runs like a dream, just go get an oil change as soon as you get a used car! I am very happy, thank you Sunny! read more

Just bought a car from Sonny in Santa Cruz and 2 weeks later while having a following a factory recommended scheduled service discovered that the head gasket and valve cover are leaking. it will cost me $2,500 in repairs. I doubt this car had been evaluated by a mechanic at Auto Trade Center and don't believe that Denise S. has her story straight as Sonny himself says that EVERY car he sells is "As Is".
