Just purchased a 2015 Nissan Leaf SV from Auto City as a third car for our family (daughter is back from college for the summer) and I had an extremely positive experience from start to finish. The owner Sam came across genuine and helpful over the phone when I called to inquire about a 2013 red colored Leaf he was advertising at a good price. His personality and good nature over the phone helped motivate me to drive to Redwood City from Saratoga to see the car. When I got there the car was better than advertised so I was happy, but I noticed he had two more (newer) Leafs on the lot too, including a higher price newer 2015 Leaf in white (was my favorite color and options). He told me that one was not ready for sale yet and needed a couple of small fixes and not yet made fully ready to advertise, but I wanted it anyways and I ended up buying the one I wanted. The online advertised prices these days have to be very competitive to match the market out there and businesses usually post their bottom pricing online. His price advertised online was competitive with private party valuation that KBB gives. And as a dealership he provided the services of DMV registration and all that, so I now prefer to buy from him than from a private party. As I said the car was not fully done and ready yet - driver door remote didn't work and needed to be fixed still - but I needed the car so I took it with understanding that I will being it back two days later when he was originally expecting to get the part and have it taken care of. On my return visit two days later as promised everything went smoothly and the door lock actuator was replaced by his service provider, and my car even got a second wash before I pick it up. They do car detailing and ceramic coating at their location too, which I will likely bring my other (nicer) cars to get done in near future. Sam is a good man running a solid business and this small dealership is on my list of recommendations to my friends going forward. Small dealership that sells used vehicles at a very reasonable price; unlike other dealerships the owner Sam takes pride in making sure the cars are in great condition and he usually finds cars that are very low mileage (for example I got a 2011 Hyundai Elantra with only 74k miles and one previous owner). Sam also worked closely with a non-profit I used to work at, and as a result helped change the lives of many individuals who otherwise wouldn't have been able to find an affordable, quality car. Anyone who has experience dealing with car dealerships and salesmen knows that a car salesperson with an altruistic side is hard to find. Final note, while the lot is on the smaller side, Sam has previously been open to keeping an eye out at auctions for specific types of cars if a serious potential client has requests. Mike and his crew was very polite drop cloth plastic and clean up like they were never here. We had our guest bath redone. He pulled the tub which was an old cast iron tub they had to cut it in half. I just purchased a very clean, super low miles (35k) Chrysler Town & County from Sam at Auto City. I live 400+ miles away in SoCal, but he had what I was in the market for. He contacted me within minutes of my inquiry via Car Gurus and gave me the run down on the van. In this particular instance, he knew the previous owner and was able to give me some personal history on it, not just what was in the Carfax, which he also provided to me at the same time. This obviously won't be everyone's experience, but it was this way for me. I made arrangements to drive up in a rental and buy this a few days later. He immediately removed the ad and had the van prepped for me upon arrival. When I got to Auto City, Sam came out to greet me. He was very courteous and respectful. He opened up the van for me to look at and before letting me, he sprayed/sanitized all of the door handles, steering wheel, etc with alcohol. I took it for a 20 minute drive with my family and inspected everything. It was exactly what I hoped for. We hashed out the paperwork outside, paid, and went on our way. It was quick and as simple as buying a car could be. I've bought and sold 20+ vehicles in my lifetime and this was up there with one of my smoothest transactions. I was in need of a used car - something with four doors, low miles, within the five year range. I looked at Carvana, CarMax, all the dealers and then found AutoCity. Not gonna lie, I was skeptical. I've never bought a used car before let alone from an independent dealership. I've heard all the stories, but after reading review after review of how Sam was a straight up guy my husband and I at least went to see the car and get a feel for this place. Long story short: Sam was great and the reviews were right! He was honest about condition of the car (straight up said yep, there's a smell, it's pot ...I appreciate candor!). We agreed to pick up the car over the weekend (he was going to clean it, fill it up, and get the paperwork done) and just asked that we leave some sort of deposit. We decide how much. Super easy going. Funny story: when we came back that weekend he offered us some of the extra smoothy he had made and was still in the blender. I wasn't a smoothy person until that day - fast forward we now have a blender and he gave us his recipe. It was a great experience all around! Gotta give it up for this place. Cruising over Hwy 92 yesterday, a little tiny Honda kicked up a rock that hit my windshield pretty hard - left a serious divot in it. I knew that this was repairable, but also that it would become unmanageable quickly if the combo of hot/cold grew (and in winter, definitely a strong likelihood of this happening). I started calling around for glass repair places, and NO ONE was open on Saturdays. Finally got a hold of a windshield replacement dude, who told me his doesn't fix them anymore, but to call Auto City, as they do a good job. So I did, they told me to swing by, and they did a fantastic job of repairing said divot. Sam and his staff's are actually real people. This would be my 7th time purchasing a vehicle but this time I have found hope. Other dealers have taken advantage of me I.E. ( Greenway motors, Craig's list) and they didn't care if I was a single mother. Knowing I had to go to work and my jobs were too far, I was able to start a rental contract with him and didn't know several happy clients come to Sam when they are just getting their car fixed. DGDG was the second best that didn't take advantage of me but their cars were in deed too pricey for my budget. I came by the other day to check out a car I had seen on the AutoList app. I reached out via the app and talked about test driving a car with a guy named Sam. I walked onto the lot and started looking at the other cars that were there. When I got closer to the office entrance, an old guy comes out and asks "What are you doing here?" I say "Checking out the cars, I actually wanted to test drive one of them" he rudely asks "Are you paying cash or financing? I can't let you test drive it unless I know you're going to purchase it" What kind of place is this? You have to decide whether you're going to buy the car or not BEFORE test driving it? When I bought a used BMW from him three years ago, he showed me how highly it rated on condition/appearance/mechanical stability on the auction website he uses. Most cars on the site didn't rate nearly that high. The site has to be honest, because the vast majority of the auction customers are car dealers. If they ever got a lemon, they'd never be back. The day of the auction, he was on top of the sale the entire time. Because my car was so highly rated, there were a lot of bidders. Sam bid until the very end, and I got my beautiful beemer! Because my car was three years old, it needed some maintenance work to get it into tip-top shape. I had that done, and the car has been purring ever since. If you need a used car -- or need to sell a used car -- this is definitely the best place to go. Sam, the owner, is honest, caring, and completely trustworthy. He will bend over backward to help you. I had a 2007 Nissan Sentra with only 50,000 miles on it, but I couldn't keep up with the payments. I wanted to sell/trade it to a dealer and use my equity to purchase a decent used car outright. I live in Alameda but after reading all of the Auto City reviews on Yelp, I called Sam (owner/manager of Auto City). The reviews were completely accurate. Sam really is the greatest. He gave me an excellent price for my car and found a really good car for me. It took a while for us to find the perfect vehicle -- I only had about $1800 to spend -- but I am thrilled with the car he found, a shiny black 2000 Grand Am SE-1 in excellent condition with all the bells and whistles. 8 years ago, my family and I landed in Silicon Valley, trying to start a new life after graduating from school. The first thing we needed was a car. Sam found us a great deal, a 1997 Toyota Camry. It had 111k miles on it, but it was rock solid. 8 years and 70k miles later we are still driving that same Camry, and we have such good memories from it. Over 40 years of driving I have never bought a new car, always used and I've always bought from private parties. This time I tried private parties and the first few people I approached weren't upfront. Based on Yelp reviews, I started trying used car dealers for the first time. The first one kept bugging me so much with texts and phone calls that I threatened them with a bad Yelp review if they didn't stop calling. Auto City was the second one I tried. I had a car in mind when I went there and as soon as I got on the lot, Eric came over to help me. When I said "just looking", he went away and gave me space, which was very cool. I saw the car I was looking for and after a couple minutes I looked up, caught Eric's eye and he came right over and got me the keys so I could start it up and check out the electronics. Sam was talking to other customers. I showed up right at closing, so I test drove it the next day and gave the car a very thorough inspection, which they had no problem with. I have a very sensitive BS-meter and if I detect something shady I go away and don't come back. Since this was my first experience with used car dealers, I had the dial turned to high, but nothing in the entire process moved the needle. I talked to Sam on the phone and asked him to give me a fair price. I had a good idea of what this car was worth. The price he gave me was very fair, so I simply accepted it without further bargaining. The car I bought had 60k miles on it. One thing I've learned from buying many used cars from private parties is that there are things that can go wrong with a car that no one can detect in advance, so I always budget some money for repairs in the first year. Been driving the car for a while now and I'm happy to say that everything has worked perfectly so far, so that money is still in my pocket. I brought my Camaro here to Charbel, who works in the detail shop to get my fender rolled. For those of you who don't know what that is, when you put huge wheels and tires on a Camaro, they rub on the fender. To fix this the fender is heated and tucked up under the lip of the fender. He charged me less than half of what it would have cost to have this service done at a big name auto sports shop in mountain view, and was available the day after I called him! You may wonder if all the positive reviews here are true. As hard as it may be to believe it, yes, Auto City is a wonderful car shopping experience. I had been looking for a new car for a while. Every day, pouring over classified and looking around online, when I happened to come across a Ford Focus that Auto City was selling with low mileage at a pretty decent price. I was a bit surprised. So I called them up and was greeted by Sam, who was very pleasant to speak with. All the info I needed was available and Sam was very straight forward and honest. After having all my questions answered, I decided to head down to check it out. The Focus was a bit easier for me to go over, as I have some experience with them already and I was very pleased to find Sam so helpful in the sale. He was very up front about everything and laid back. He wasn't aggressive at all about the sale. He even offered to replace the part that opens the hood of the car free of charge when we found it needed to be repaired. After a quick test drive, I decided to buy the car. Even at the end of the purchase, when all I had was my bank card on me, Sam told me that it would be okay to just write him a check when I got home, that he trusted me. My entire experience here was excellent. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to get a new vehicle. It's a small lot, so the selection isn't big, but the customer service is class. I've only purchased one car through Auto City, but I can't say enough great things about them. It was a 1991 Acura Legend with about 43.3K miles on it, almost showroom condition. While I had the car inspected (by a 3rd party) prior to purchase, there was an undiscovered problem with the car. The people who inspected it missed this and neither the guys at Auto City nor I knew about until my mechanic down here in SoCal looked at it later. Sam really wanted me to be happy camper so we discussed several ways to achieve this. While he offered to purchase the car back, there was a snag which prevented this, so we worked out a plan to get the problem fixed. I haven't included all the details because I wouldn't want someone to take advantage of this. The bottom line is that Sam likes doing business with people and does his best to make sure his customers leave happy.
