What prompted this review is something I wished I had done years ago...tinting my living room windows. The sun hits directly from about 8a.m.-4 p.m. and heats up the whole house. We installed black out drapes to help but then we are forced to keep our drapes closed when we are home. We also wanted to have some privacy so our nearby neighbor can't see into our home during the day. Solution? Steve from ATH came and quickly installed this amazing limo-like mirror tint to three windows. Even after the first window was done I could immediately feel the temperature in the room drop considerably. After all three windows were done, the difference was like night and day...or should I say day and night. Steve was very professional and I could tell he knew what he was doing. Recently took delivery on a new car and wanted to protect the paint from rock chips and small scratches. The existing protective film on my car was showing its age with normal wear and tear in addition to having a neighbor's kid crashing her bike into the front of my car damaging the front film; so I brought my car to Auto Trim to have new Clear Protective Film applied to the front and rocker panels as well as adding black protective film to my trunk to taper off my black roof line. In addition I also had ceramic tint applied to my front windshield to help block heat from the interior of my car. I brought the car in at 830 am and it was done by 3 pm. When I arrived my car was sitting outside the shop and so I inspected it and my car literally looked brand new. The films were precisely applied like it came from the factory. When I needed to make a new customized sign and was unsure of where to start and what specific design to use, I asked around for some referrals. My friends said I should consider talking to Auto Trim Hawaii since they've expertise in making custom signs and offer graphic design help. I had a few scratches on my Honda SUV which irritated me for a few months and decided to Yelp a repair company. I was pleasantly surprised to find such a great knowledgeable person like Sean Jones and his company Auto Trim on Yelp. His shop is conveniently located in town right off of Kalihi street (Makai end) right by Ethel's. He quoted me $375 for my enitire car and it had two big scratches and one minor scratch (three corners of my car). Another company (Dent Dr's) quoted me $700 for just one part of my car. Best way to protect your car with the xpel PPF. This shop is super professional and did an awesome job with my 2021 Tesla model 3. Really accommodated me by fitting me their schedule when they realized they had some extra time to take care of my car. All I asked for was to be notified if they had an earlier date to detail my car and a few days later got a call to cut the wait from a month out to a few days later. They did an excellent job (worried because I was slotted in when they had extra time) and now I have a better piece of mind knowing my car has that extra protection with how bad Oahu roads are. I am an extremely happy customer. I had the Autobahn i3 Ceramic window tint applied to my car. I also had the clear Air Ceramic film applied to my front windshield. These products made a significant difference in the amount of heat coming through the windows. The true test was when I got stuck in the hot afternoon traffic heading westbound into the sun. Normally even with the AC blasting you can feel the heat from the sun. But with this product, it really cuts the heat. I was very comfortable. I feel it was well worth the money. i thought long and hard before deciding whether to get a clear bra put on my new MINI. once i decided, i asked quite a few people about where i should get it done. someone on a discussion board i consulted recommended i look into the ventureshield clear bra product and pick from the authorized companies at the website. since hawaii only had one such company, the choice was easy to make. bonus was that the place also is a tint shop and i wanted to get tint on my car. that place was auto trim hawaii in mapunapuna. when i picked up my car, i kept having to look really closely at the hood because even standing a foot away, i couldn't see the where the clear bra started. the application was top-notch. i was equally happy with the tint (35% supreme). additionally, he charged me a very reasonable price according to people who are in the various branches of the auto biz. i wholeheartedly and without reservation recommend auto trim hawaii to everyone. my friend who owns a three year old celica laments all the paint chips he's gotten over the years. when he saw the work that auto trim did, he said he would definitely give them a call because he was so impressed. luckily, they also provide other services, like paint repair, paintless dent repair, and so on. even my salesperson at MINI, who strongly discouraged me from getting the clear bra done because he's never seen a good application, was completely shocked at how well it came out. he didn't spot it on my car until i told him, and he had to get quite close tand have me point out the line for him to see it. mind you, my car had been without a wash for a week, and we've had some light rains since i did wash it. i love supporting local businesses whose owners and staff care to treat their customers well, so let me tell you about sean, autotrim's owner. within half an hour of my initial internet inquiry, sean called me and i got the sense immediately that he loves what he does. i think that a person's propensity to give credit where it's due says a ton about his/her personal ethics. sean, unlike many bosses who are quick to blame and steal the glory, is generous in praising his staff. i'd take my car to him again without hesitation, and tmy boyfriend (who is the resident car guru, being the son of a mechanic) feels the same. read more

These guys do good work and they operate with integrity. Nearly 5 years ago they tinted all the windows in my then new Camry. I was very happy with what they did until a couple of months ago when the rear window started to bubble. All the other windows were still perfect. I called their shop and ended up taking the car down and having the old tinting on the rear window removed and replaced with new film - and it was all covered by the warranty - even after 4 years and 10 months. Sean & Justin even re-attached a slightly detached fender panel that I didn't even ask them to look at. I'm a happy customer. Next time I get a new car (next year) I'm going back to Auto Trim Hawaii because I know I can trust them and they do good work. Tip: Their shop is on the 3rd. floor of a slightly odd-shaped 3 story building on Kalani St. just down the street from City Square. Since there are no signs (the building management won't allow it), unless you're familiar with that building, it's hard to tell that you can drive up to the 3rd floor. I walked up the stairs and learned that there's a concrete ramp that starts at the Diamond Head mauka corner of the building on Kalani St. that goes all the way up to the 3rd. floor. read more

Sean, the owner, was very prompt in returning my e-mails inquiring about the paint protection film for my new Honda. Since my car was so new, they initially didn't have the pattern from 3M. It took a little while emailing back and forth before he confirmed that they had the pattern. Made an appointment for both paint protection and tinting as he said there was a 10% discount for multiple services. Price quoted was $1200 ($1000 for paint protection, $300 for tint minus the discount)! Sticker shock...but I felt it was worth it to protect the car that I plan on driving for the next 10+ years. The job took about 4 hours to complete. They're not in the best location (Kalihi near Kapalama Basin and the shipping piers) so there's not much else in the area and they have no waiting room whatsoever. Sean did say they could drop me off somewhere but that they couldn't pick me up. No problem. I figured I'd just catch the bus and wander the streets of Honolulu for a few hours. When finished, the job they did looked good. Of course, it's only been 24-hours since they completed the job so only time will tell. However, I was a little irritated to find water spots and streaks on the inside of my front windshield, rearview mirror and audio console. While I understand that they have use water to apply the film and tint, they got to realize that someone who's willing to pay that kind of money on their car obviously cares about cleanliness and appearance. Why not take an extra 5 minutes to clean up after yourselves when you're done with the job? This was a brand new car that hadn't even been in my possession for a week. Later realized that my building's parking sticker from the driver's side quarter window was gone. Whether it was removed or came off during the tinting, either way, I wasn't informed. I also found a piece of the plastic door molding from the left passenger door adjacent to the window had been removed and left on the back seat. Being that it's the piece that's right next to the window, I assumed they removed it (or it came off) but never bothered to put it back. Again, brand new car; pieces don't just fall off on their own. All said and done, I walked out of there feeling like they didn't really appreciate my business. Not a good feeling, especially after you've dropped a ton of money. I thought Sean was nice initially (emails and phone calls) but the more I spoke to him, the more he came off as kind of arrogant. Sean claims they're a small operation, and that may be the case, but if you look at their website and Facebook page you can see that they've done some pretty big jobs for auto dealers, retailers and other businesses. Maybe my job just wasn't big enough for him. After all it was a Honda not a Tesla, Lexus or Mercedes (as you see on their FB page). You'd think someone who owns a small business with humble beginnings would look out for "the little guy"; not in my opinion. He said, "if you order the film from the mainland it would cost you $800 alone, without the labor." Well, I'm pretty sure the material doesn't cost him $800 and if I wanted to or even knew how to do the job myself, I wouldn't have come to see him. When the job was finished and I was ready to settle the bill, I asked if they had a military discount. In an almost annoyed way Sean said responded that I was already getting the multi-service 10% discount. Hey, it doesn't hurt to ask does it? I guess with some people, maybe it does. Ultimately, I'm hoping I got a quality product (which I believe 3M is) that will last for years to come; the film does have a 5-year warranty. But the high price and the lack of customer care will prevent me from recommending this place or returning in the future. read more
