Went to buy a 2018 Gray Honda civic type R, however when I was being shown one the color which was Black & was definitely not right but the sales rep. was certain it was just color difference in online photos, I took the car for a test drive clutch felt like it was slipping in first gear but she was insisting that it was just my imagination and it went through their inspection and passed. After half way through signing the sales manager introduced himself to me only to tell me then that the car I test drove was not the 2018 but the 2021. when I asked to go see the car I was half way through signing for I was in disbelief. The 2018 in the right color was in terrible condition it needed to replace the Driver side fender, Battery, Brake pads, and all 4 tires!?!? I ended up buying the 2021 after that. A month of ownership the fork throwout bearing for the clutch goes out, Their is no clutch face left, oxygen sensor needed to be replaced as a check engine light was thrown on the dash and my serpentine belt was cracked!? After I had all of those taken cared of I immediately cancelled my Extended warranties they had sold me as well as my oil changes. DO NOT BELIEVE THEIR INSPECTIONS ON THEIR INVENTORY. HAVE A TRUSTED TECHNICIAN YOU KNOW DO ONE FOR YOU. Do yourself a favor and stay away from AutoNation, Carmax & Carvana they are all the same. Well long story short. I ended up with a car my ex-wife was using and without notice she just…read moredropped if off at my sister's house as I live and work in a different state. I immediately flew that same day to Michigan to handle this unexpected and untimely event. I thought i had another car company buying the car. I send all the required paperwork. I waited two days for them to come and get the car and after the test drive they decided that they wouldn't buy it. Now I'm all freaked out. I have a vehicle registerd in a state I no longer live in and nowhere to go and I need to get back to work on the East Coast. A friend offered to let me keep the car at hos place while I try and figure things out. As I am driving the vehicle to my friend's house ...thank you Jesus...I get a call from Bryan from Give Me the Vin who gives me an offer and explains the process. I immediately take pictures and send over the documents as this is Friday late afternoon. I am informed that it will all be reviewed the following Monday and should receive a FedEx overnight with the paperwork to sign. As promised Tuesday I receive the paperwork and send it back out with the docs signed. WEd afternnon I get a text confirming everthing has been received. a couple hours later transportation company calls to pick up the vechicle. The following day another text all is complete and given the go ahead and cash the check. I made this process stressful but Give Me The Vin did not. Answered phone calls, texts and emails promptly. Communicated the entire process and held my hand to the end. Now this was a lower offer then what i originally received, but in the end Give Me The Vin stood by their word which means a lot. This was the worst experience I've ever had buying a car. The salesman wrote down the price we…read moreagreed on and then ran away. That was the last I saw of him. The floor manager promised me a roof rack and sent me in to the finance manager's office where I signed a pile of paperwork. I must have had a severe lapse in judgement, because I ended up paying $8000 more than the price the salesman and I came up with. It was the sticker price with $2242 added on. I asked the finance guy what that was for and he just said, "Everybody pays that". It didn't hit me until the next morning when I looked over the paperwork and realized how badly I'd been screwed. I should have gotten up and walked out, but I signed everything, so it's my fault. I ended up stuck with the rotten deal, and never got the roof rack the floor manager promised. I had to pay $642 to the parts department to order a spare tire and jack (those don't come with the new cars). It's been almost a month and I haven't heard anything about that either. I wrote to the general manager, complaining about my experience, and the roof rack and the $2242 additional charges. He called me and told me that was for something or other (I forgot what it was) and $1650 for some sort of eternal GPS service. That was included in the dealer add-ons on the sticker. He said that was only good for a year, and the $1650 was for the period of time after that. He offered to refund that amount to the bank financing my loan to pay toward the principle, after I signed something that he would email to me. He didn't email anything to me. Never heard from him again. I don't know what his name was; he mumbled it incoherently when he introduced himself and he apparently called from a google phone number. The only way to get ahold of him is by snail mail. I give up. I'll have to buy my own roof rack if they are ever available, and probably need to dispute the charge for the spare tire and jack with my bank. I'm not going back there for service. That place gives me the creeps.
