Charles Ignasias is the owner and Master Technician at Autobahn Service Center in Fruitland, MD. He specializes in European and Asian cars and has saved me more than once. I went to him after a friend recommended Autobahn for my Volvo station wagon. I had used Racetrack Auto on Route 50 in Berlin for several years, but when they botched a repair and told me to pay them an exorbitant rate to fix it "properly," I went to Autobahn. Charles fixed the problem for half of what was quoted by Racetrack. Then, my son wrecked our VW Passat Wagon. Nobody could anticipate the damage done by a 10 mile an hour collision with a telephone pole. This inability to predict the total final charges more accurately is the only reason I am not giving Autobahn a 5 star review. I was given an initial price for repair. The final repairs cost more than twice this estimate and more than the car cost to begin with because parts that were broken in the collision weren't discovered until all the body work by the other shop was done first. I wish I had known the total cost of the repair up front and I might have chosen to get a different car and write this one off as totaled. Given that, however, I can still recommend Charles and Autobahn wholeheartedly for the way they dealt with the problem. Charles said this was a learning experience for both of us and that is true. In dealing with the car and all the unexpected issues, Charles was 100% professional. He kept me informed of the problems as they appeared, including a cracked transmission that wasn't apparent initially. He knew that my son was trying to pay for the repair. Charles tried to keep costs as low as he could given how much work he had to do. He even researched and bought a low mileage used transmission to save us money. Due to the estimate being so far below the actual costs, Charles donated as much labor as he charged for. Charles made a bad situation better with his professionalism, consideration, and skill. If I could give Autobahn Service Center 10 stars, I would. They are fantastic and I trust them completely. I met Charles almost five years ago when I had the battery replaced in my BMW 2013 X3 down the road from them at Pasco. The new battery required an adjustment to properly charge and Pasco did not have the tool necessary. They directed me to Charles at Autobahn and he got it set up correctly at minimum charge. Since that time, I have used Autobahn repeatedly for service and they have always been honest, forthright, told me when I absolutely had to fix an issue, it could wait, or wasn't necessary. I had issues with the dealer telling me things that weren't true and Charles, being a BMW mechanic at a local dealership before starting Autobahn, is well-versed on the most intricate of details. On my most recent visit, I asked him about a new BMW X3 I am considering as a purchase and he took the time to sit with me and talk through specifics. He even looked up the specific engine and gave me his thoughts. Exceptional customer service, trustworthy, and just an all-around nice good person. I also need to add some thoughts about his Service Manager, Eve Wick. She is truly one-of-a-kind as well. She takes time for you whenever you call, listens thoroughly to your concerns, and gets you scheduled as soon as possible. The demands of her role are no doubt intense, but every time I have interacted with her she has been calm, cool, and collected. Always a consummate professional and again just a really nice person. Autobahn is the only service center I will take my BMW to for repairs and regular maintenance. Charles, the owner, is quite literally a car genius. He has figured out complicated problems that no other dealers and shops could figure out. Charles figured out a sensor issue and check engine light that had globally stumped several dealers and even the factory. They were referred to me by neighbors with a Mercedes issue that only Autobahn could figure out as well. The staff is excellent and knowledgeable. They ooze friendliness and genuine caring. I have a 2010 VW Bug that has been difficult for many mechanics to work on. Charles was able to identify my problems and repair them at a reasonable cost. He was very helpful in explaining that a problem could be an insurance claim based on a repair that was incomplete after an accident. He offered to explain the situation to my insurance company. Took my Honda in with some catalytic converter issues, ended up getting a lot of services done , cat replaced, new tires, belts, O2 sensors, and an oil change. All work was done in great time and at a very reasonable price. Ended up having some rattling as I was leaving (100% my error) and the owner helped sort everything out and got me back on the road.
