This was our first time staying at Housekeeping Camp (my first time in Yosemite too) and we had a great time! The camp is well maintained and clean - it was actually pretty free of a lot of bugs which was surprising! They do have A LOT of brave squirrels and birds though! The sleeping huts were great - each one fit 6 people with a bunk bed and a full size bed. The hut also had a mirror, electrical outlets and a shelf that worked great for keeping things organized. We brought our own sheets and blankets, but they also have them for rent at the front office as well. The hut can get pretty hot during the day so I recommend bringing some sort of a fan - especially at night too! The hut also has a nice size shaded patio area too - there was a table with built in chairs plus counter space and electrical outlets. I also recommend bringing tarps or extra sheets for more privacy as the huts are open except for the curtains attached to the sleeping areas. Since there were close to 40 of us, we had 9 huts together and it was like an outdoor hotel with a designated cooking area plus we had a sitting area with a projector where we watched movies and the last game of the World Cup - it's a great place for a large group! There was a big open area too where the kids in our group played volleyball all week plus it didn't feel like we were on top of other groups due to how the huts are spaced out which was nice. Each hut also has a bear box that all food and anything that smells including toiletries needs to be placed in and locked up at night and when you aren't around - Rangers come around unexpectedly to check and you will get warned or fined if you are not following the rules. Quiet time is also from 10PM to 6AM. As for the bathrooms, the women's never felt super dirty. I was told the men's was questionable at times. They kept the toilet paper, toilet seat protectors and soap filled, but they do not have paper towels or air dryers so you're usually walking out with wet hands. They do have mirrors in the bathrooms though! They only have one building with showers, but I believe there were at least 8 stalls available for each side - they offer soap in the stalls as well and you can borrow a towel from the nice people at the laundry window. I never had to wait in line for the shower in the mornings, but there were always long lines at night. They also have a laundry room and a store! The store offered the basics plus souvenirs, but it gets busy in the morning when people are trying to buy ice and it goes fast! They only allow one bag of ice per hut FYI and they can be a bit rude about it. Housekeeping Camp is also really close to the river which was nice and it's about a 15 minute walk to Curry Village and other places to check out. They also offer a free bus that will take you to different hiking spots and tourist areas. Overall, my family and I had an amazing week in Housekeeping Camp and we cannot wait to come back for more memories next year! Check them out!

The campground was well-maintained, with neat grounds and clean restrooms, which made for a pleasant stay. The campground host was incredibly accommodating and helpful throughout our visit. However, I did encounter a concerning issue: during our hike in Yosemite Valley, some of my property was stolen from my campsite. While I don't want to negatively impact the campground's reputation, I feel it's important for fellow campers to be aware of this. Even though the area feels safe, I highly recommend keeping your belongings secured and out of sight when you're away from your site. Overall, I enjoyed my time at Summerland Campground and would recommend it, but just exercise caution with your belongings.

It is a somewhat smallish park, with special areas for tenters and RV'ers. Full hook-ups available, and sites are reasonably priced. A bonus is that it is right next door to Cedar Lodge, and the campers are permitted to use the Lodge's swimming pool, Most sites, particularly the hook-up sites, have sufficient shade for the very hot summer months. We would not hesitate in the least on staying here again! I definitely recommend staying here!

In short, this is a "maybe" recommendation…read more To preface, I have visited Yosemite National Park many many times, with many many stays at campgrounds, the Yosemite Valley Lodge & The Ahwahnee. My family loves this park so much that my husband & I chose to get married there last year. I think overall this is an okay campground for the most part. It is well located within the valley loop. It is close to some popular hiking routes, is next to Merced river and just down the road from Curry Village. However, a few things to note that didn't make it a 5-Star stay. 1) Customer service - upon entry, we were greeted by two very friendly hosts. Our party had a physically disabled person with handicap plates on the car. One of the hosts let us know that the stall we parked a car in (temporarily) to unload was designated for law enforcement, but okayed us unloading for 10 minutes. We appreciated the info and consideration. Nearing the 10 minute marker another/separate host approached us really quite aggressively, yelling about us breaking the law and that we need to move immediately. We explained the discussion with the prior host we spoke to, but this one kept yelling at us about how our car looked empty (it wasn't) and wouldn't stop yelling at us until we moved. We totally get the technicality of the stall, but we did receive an okay from another host and this guy was just aggressive as hell with no regard to ADA considerations in a very temporary situation. No law enforcement used it the entire time we were there (several days), did 10 minutes kill them to let a disabled guest unload?? It just was not very host like and incredibly unprofessional. Approach would have meant everything. To add to the poor customer service, we were later accused of pushing the limits with our tents and having more than 6 people (we only had 4 people) despite other campsites directly next to us having at the least 8-10 people, who lit fires mid-day, who had on occasion left their fires completely unattended, and who smoked weed and screamed & talked loudly way after noise cutoffs.. yet no host was approaching them about any of that. 2) some campsites were way overgrown with weeds and fallen over tree trunks. 3) no soap in the bathrooms. As a lover of this park who has stayed more times than I can count, the stay this time at North Pines overall was just okay. The lack of customer service and disregard for disabled persons from some of the hosts was something I don't think myself nor my family will soon forget. I've/my family had never been made to feel like that before, especially at a place that wants conservation support and goes through so much to accommodate ADA.

Came here camping and while Yosemite was amazing (as expected) the ranger who was here was a…read morecomplete ahole, we checked into our campsite and parked our cars, he comes over and starts lecturing us about how we didn't hang our parking passes up, we literally JUST parked, he walked over before we even had our trunks open. We were just there trying to have a good time so we just say sorry and put the parking passes up. We had quite a bit of stuff to unload so I was wondering if it would be okay to drive the car up onto the campsite (since we saw other people with their RVs and trailers parked onto the campsite) but since the range was such a ahole I didn't want to get in trouble so I went to go ask him, he tells me no and I say thanks and I walk away, as I'm walking away I hear him say "DUHHHHH" and start laughing with the other ranger, clearly making fun of me that I'm stupid or whatever so I turn around and I say "what, it was just a question you don't need to be rude about it, I just didn't want to get in trouble since you were so worked up about the parking passes" he just stayed silent and stopped laughing. Honestly this was a horrible experience to start off what was otherwise a great weekend, it's too bad this dick had to have an attitude. Aside from that the experience was not bad, a lot more bugs than other campsites I've been to but hey it's nature lol, lots of great hiking trails and scenery around the campsite area as well

Camped 9/16/15-9/19/15 Tent Camping (no RV)…read more I have now experienced camping in Yosemite Valley twice, the first time was at Camp 4 and this time it was Lower Pines Campground. Camp 4 is a totally different experience than camping at Lower Pines. Camp 4 is walk up only, no reservations, Lower Pines you have to reserve sites ahead of time. So let's start from the beginning. April 15, 2015 at 6:58 am. I sat at my computer and waiting for the booking window to open. They say to book 5 months in advance on recreation.gov, I was booking for the dates 9/16-19. So right at 7 am, I hit refresh and clicked on the site I wanted.... I tried booking 3 nights at the same site and only got 2 of the 3, for night 3 we had to move sites, but at least they were both at the same campground. We paid $26/night. We booked site #26 and site #5. Check-in is at noon, but if the site is vacant when you get there, you can check right in! You pull up to the kiosk (I think they open at 10 am), and they provide you with a parking pass and they go over rules and regulations with you. Then you drive to your site.... Site #26) We liked this site the better of the two. We were tent camping. Location wise, it's pretty close to the restrooms, the restroom lights are motion censored so they do turn off eventually. But if you are sensitive to light, you might not want to stay at this site. But if you are the type to get up in the middle of the night to use the restroom, this is a perfect site for you! We had 2 picnic tables at our site. The bear box was pretty big, my best friend and I got into the bear box to take a funny pic, so I'd say you'd be able to fit 4 human bodies in it sitting up cross legged. We also slung up a hammock, there were two trees that were far enough apart from each other for it. Site #5) I do not recommend Site #5. It's pretty close to the entrance of the campsite. It's like 2 to 3 sites away from the kiosk. It's right next to a sidewalk that leads to the restroom. It's also really close to the restrooms. Through out the entire night I got woken up by footsteps. Pros about #5 are that it has 2 picnic tables as well. The parking spot is a double wide, meaning you can probably fit two cars side by side or an RV. That's about the only pros. Lots of bees it seemed. Also in one of the trees at the site, it had a fly bag, one of those contraptions that traps flies.... no bueno. We did Half Dome on Thursday, and this site is definitely walking distance, about 1/2 a mile from the Happy Isle Trail head. Which is also the trailhead for Vernall Falls and Nevada Falls. Lower Pines is also right across from Curry Village for showers. They also have a water dump toilet which was convenient for dish washing (felt bad though, I think they have to unclog it on a daily basis because no food is supposed to go in it). There is also a water bottle filling station at the restrooms. Also, right next to Lower Pines is a meadow with a wooden walkway that is very picturesque. Close to a free shuttle stop as well.

Winter time first come first serve is a great option. (3/15-3/18/26) Only being two campers we paid…read more$40 for two nights/3 days day, versus other locations being upwards of $35 a night. It is a very open campground, you share a campsite with upwards of five other people. There are regulations that no more to six people per layout, although we did run into people, simply trying to fit wherever there was an empty bear locker (4 lockers per site). Ranger eventually confronted some campers at my site for joining late and making it too crowded. Pretty close proximity to many of the hikes, and easy access to the Yosemite Valley shuttle. My car stayed parked the entire time being there, though I did notice the parking lot fills up with people I assume are just day hikers. Bathrooms were pretty well maintained You can run into some rowdy crowds at night, but kind of expected for this type of campsite. I just brought earmuffs and fell asleep easy after a long day of hiking. I think my only complaint is that there are only two picnic benches per campsite. We had three groups of two before the extra joiners. We just cooked on top of the bar locker for one night/or shared, depending on how friendly you're feeling.

Bathrooms were clean with a dish sink room to dispose of dirty dish water. This is bear country, so ensure all scented and food items are in the bear locker. We did not have any bear encounters during our stay. Sites are situated close to each other, so you are subject to whomever occupies the sites next to yours. Water only available at the dish sink at the bathroom in your campground, there are no additional spigots near the sites. Beautiful campground about a half hour drive from Yosemite valley. There is ample downed wood you can find and collect for firewood, but bring a camping axe.

Thank goodness for the National Park ranger who helped us book this campground…read more I accidentally mixed our dates to Yosemite and unfortunately showed up to our Glacier Point campground with the correct booking. We used the sheet provided to us by the ranger to try to book a campground and got lucky with a one night stay at Crane Flat! They have running water, clean toilets, and a place to fill your water containers that's great for rinsing your cooking items/etc. Our location had a table, a bear lock storage container, and a fire pit with a grill! We also had parking for up to two cars. It is about a 20-25 minute drive down to Yosemite Valley (traffic dependent) and a short walk from a convenience store and gas station. Perfect spot if you're focusing your trip on the Tioga Pass section of Yosemite.
