Predatory Practices and Subpar Vehicles - Beware of CARMAX…read more I'm compelled to share my terrible experience with CARMAX, particularly for women considering doing business here. They seem to prey on women with limited automotive knowledge, pushing poorly maintained, unreliable cars at premium prices, banking on the assumption we won't know better. Carmax never disclosed the fact that the engine had been repaired twice but sold me a car at full price. Carmax pulled up a car fax report stating no repairs and no accidents which is a big fat lie! I purchased a vehicle from Carmax believing their sales pitch that it was "in perfect condition." Within four months the check engine light came on. The car began breaking down. The car had a major engine recall that clearly weren't addressed prior to sale. A trusted mechanic confirmed these problems should've been DISCLOSED and FIXED before the car ever hit the lot. When I returned to discuss the issue, I was met with condescension and dismissive remarks. They refused to take responsibility or assist with repairs, leaving me stranded with a lemon. It's clear they're prioritizing profit over integrity, targeting customers they assume won't and can't push back. I urge women and others to stay away from Carmax. Find a dealership that values honesty and stands behind their vehicles. I wouldn't wish this financial and emotional stress on anyone. It's been a whole year that I have been fighting with a car that the dealership knew was a lemon. They clearly capitalized off of me and now I'm stuck with paying for a problem that I can't afford. I have brought multiple cars from this company and this is the thanks I get. As a single working mother I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Go elsewhere this place does not have your best interest I've noticed this for a whole year now. Even speaking to corporate they also have no compassion. Telling me to trade the car that they know is an issue leaves me upside down and without transportation. This is the very reason people give up in life because of predators like these people. The stress this place has caused me is insane. Save your money, time, and sanity - shop elsewhere.

I was trying to buy a car from a different state. I talked to the owner of this dealership, Hussam…read more He answered all of my questions. He sent me all the pictures of all the blemishes that car had. He was very patient with all my questions and concerns. I received the best services I could for an out state purchase. I ended up no buying the car because the shipping cost did not work out for me. I recommend this place to people. I might buy something from them in a future though. Good luck in everything guys! I appreciate your help and assistance.

Suspicious trial lawyer that I am, I may have had preconceptions. I met the owner, Hussam Allo, at the cleanest, nicest looking establishment in the area and noticed upon entry some pretty nice cars on the lot. The vehicle in question was amazingly clean and confirmed to be mechanically tight by a couple of my mechanic friends, with the exception of sloppy front end, which I later learned and confirmed Hussam corrected at substantial effort and expense. The deal later concluded with a successful sale at a fair price on a fairly exotic specialty vehicle. Hussam had no problem with the car going to my friend's shop, produced CarFax docs, repair records, geographical and flood history that was confirmed. A man of his word, he operates with his wife, a clean and reputable auto brokering business that I would recommend for consideration. One more tip-of-the-hat to the small business man making' it and providing a valuable service in the community.

So I pulled over in a parking lot, tried to diagnose the situation myself by calling "mobile mechanics" near me. I called about 5 of them; three didn't answer, one of the three line was disconnected, one told me that they didn't have availability, another one told me that they can come right now, but they don't accept card only cash. I thought, dang, in a big city like Houston, the "mobile" mechanics are absolute trash. I was afraid to continue driving it as it was jerking and the engine output was very low. Low and behold, I had no other choice. Luckily, I was near my parents house and drove there to see if my dad could assess it. I got their home. He assessed it, ran a code on it with the code machine. The code was PO303 (cylinder misfiring). I know nothing about what this means, but from my quick Google search it sounds terrible. My dad suggested that I call the Toyota dealership. I was hesitant about it because I've heard they are very expensive, but since I knew the following weekend and by Halloween I have major plans that I'm not choosing to miss I settled and made an appointment by phone. I gave the chick over the phone all of my credentials. Appointment scheduled for 11:00 AM. I got to the service area at 10:30 AM since this place is six minutes from me. They took me in very quickly. I was assigned, Mr. Vu. He gathered my information twice since the chick over the phone entered it all wrong. I don't understand it. I told her it right. The system had me under a Toyota Corolla; I've never driven that vehicle in my life. I drive a Rav4 and before that had a Echo. Weird. Anyways, Mr. Vu explained everything thoroughly and gave me the next steps. I asked him about getting my key fob fixed too. He asked, "if I was sure I wanted Toyota dealership to fix it since they charge $400.00?" That's ridiculous. Car dropped off on Saturday. Sunday plans cancelled. Monday I was housebound, but received texts from the dealership of a video explaining a full workup on my car with issues. By Tuesday, Mr. Vu called and we went over the price list he had sent via text. AutoNation quoted me $8K to fix the cylinder misfiring (which was covered under warranty due to recall for the year and model of the vehicle), an alignment and brakes changed. I was astounded by the price. It scared me and I even considered just buying a new used car if it'll cost me this much, so I told Mr. Vu to fix the primary issue (what I came to the dealership for). He dropped the price from $8k to $1,600+taxes and labor. It'll take a day to get fixed and be ready by COB at 7pm. On Wednesday, I received a text from Mr. Vu at 6pm saying my car was ready. I catch an Uber there. I met with Mr. Vu, I paid $1,700 for the service and he urges me to get my brakes fixed. I told him I am, but just not here. My car arrives and it drives okay. TDLR: AutoNation Toyota isn't cheap for service, but they were reliable at getting my car assessed and fixed at a reasonable time. The service coordinator, Mr. Vu was very nice and attentive. Make sure to ask for him by name. He is short with conversations and isn't overly friendly or bubbly, but he was straightforward. My car is running again for now.
