Laura Hahamian - State Farm Insurance Agent

Our experience with Laura Hahamian and her whole team was extremely positive. They were all always…read moreprofessional and very responsive to our questions or concerns in getting us the right policies to fit our lifestyle and needs. We had only one minor home claim during our time with State Farm, and we were treated with respect, patience, and encouragement as we went through the process. We recently moved from California to Wisconsin (Not because we didn't love CA, but because of family), and we sought out a local State Farm Agent for our new house and autos here, because of the excellent experience in CA with Laura's office. I feel comfortable recommending this Agent to anyone wanting an insurance agent they can trust with their home and vehicles.

I had a disappointing experience with Laura when I contacted her in August about moving my five…read moreState Farm policies (umbrella, homeowners, rental condo, auto, and jewelry) to her office. I had been with State Farm for five years and requested a brief, 20-minute introductory call before initiating a transfer. My email explained why I wanted to change agents. Yes, it discussed premium increases. But it also described specific servicing concerns: an alarm discount that took approximately three years to apply despite certificates on file, deductible changes I approved in writing that never appeared on subsequent declarations, and repeated unsuccessful requests for historical policy records. Those concerns were central to why I was looking for a different agency. Laura declined the introductory call and encouraged me to reconsider changing agents. Her response left me feeling that the servicing concerns I had described had been treated primarily as dissatisfaction with corporate rates. I replied to clarify that distinction and expressly acknowledged that her office might not be the right fit. State Farm's corporate escalation team told me I could change agents through the portal. I have since moved to another agent. UPDATE -- Responding to the owner's reply: Laura, you say my review does not reflect the full context. Several distinctions in that context matter. On declining a transfer: I am not disputing your decision not to accept my account or interpreting an agency agreement I have not seen. My follow-up actually began: "I respect your decision that your office may not be the right fit." But your email went beyond declining my business. You wrote: "I strongly encourage you to reconsider any move and revisit the issues with your agent." Declining to accept my account and encouraging me to return to the agency whose unresolved servicing problems I had just described are two different things. Your public response emphasizes the first without addressing my objection to the second. On reviewing policies you did not service: I asked for an introductory conversation before transferring. The assistance listed in my email was expressly introduced with: "If I move my policies over to you, I was hoping your office could help me with these items." I was asking whether your office would be a suitable fit and could help address those needs after a transfer--not asking you to take responsibility for my account before becoming my agent. On your response not being intended to characterize my experience as rate-related: Your email said: "In looking at your grievances, from my understanding, I believe they arise out of pricing/rate increase issues that go beyond any agent or agency's control." You then questioned how transferring agencies would solve "the issues at hand." That language broadly characterized my concerns; it did not distinguish the servicing problems from the pricing concerns. Explaining that agents do not control corporate rates did not address my concerns about requested changes, discount application, and access to records. Intent may have differed from the text, but the text is what I received. On "empathy can be subjective": My disappointment was not simply about whether an email sounded warm. It was about whether the concerns I actually raised were understood and addressed. I accept that you describe your intentions differently. That does not resolve the substantive disagreement about your response. On including your sales leader: I acknowledge that you copied Paul, and I thanked you for the introduction. For completeness, I also told him that I was already communicating with corporate about my records and that no action was needed from him. I am therefore not faulting him for failing to take action after that message. Copying him was a constructive step. But acknowledging that step does not mean I must agree with how you characterized my concerns or with your recommendation that I reconsider changing agents. My point is not that you did nothing; it is that the referral does not answer those criticisms. On privacy: I am not asking you to publish confidential policy information, coverage details, or another agency's records. My criticism concerns how you responded to my inquiry as a prospective customer. You were free to decline my business. I can acknowledge that and still be disappointed with how the inquiry was handled. I was looking for a different servicing experience--not an agent who could override corporate rates. That distinction is the reason for this review.

I decided it was time to find someone new, and I'm glad I found Scott Stevens. Scott is honest, clearly explains pricing, coverage, and your options, and works with you to find the products that best fit your needs, and not what benefits him or State Farm. He's also incredibly responsive. If he's out of the office, he lets you know who's covering, so you're never left wondering why someone else is reaching out. Great service, great communication, and someone I look forward to working with for years to come.

We had several policies (Home, Auto, and Life) with a different State Farm agent in northern CA. We made the decision a couple years ago to move to an office closer to our primary residence in Woodbridge so we could visit the office and have a closer relationship with our agent. Scott did a thorough walk-thru of our policies, listened to our needs, and made sure everything was exactly what we needed. He identified several opportunities for savings and helped us evaluate and mitigate a number of risks. Scott has stayed in touch on all requested follow-ups, and he has taken the lead to ensure everything on our to-do list moved forward to completion. All this was done without any pressure to buy new products or services. He is truly the best State Farm agent we have met, and we could not be more thrilled with the personalized service from him and his staff. We highly recommend Scott Stevens.
