They advertise "No pass, no pay" with first initial smog test and done by them. The woman in the office was very polite and friendly. My car didn't pass smog, so I didn't have to pay. This is a DMV Star certified test and repair facility, thus I chose to have them diagnose why my car failed. I left the car with them the next day as it was close to their closing time. Henry, the mechanic/co-owner, was extremely personable and confident in his abilities to fix my car. I have to respect a man who stands behind his pledge to fix it right or I don't pay. Henry diagnosed a bad EGR valve (nox measured almost 1000) as to why I failed smog. The EGR valve was replaced and then retested to which the car passed the smog test with no problems. Henry took good care of me and in my opinion, this is an honest smog shop. I will be bringing my car back here again for future smog tests. Thanks AUTOTEK. read more

This may be a bit of a rocky review, so please bear with me. Autotek on Antelope Road presents itself as 'No pass, no pay.' Now this may mean something different to different people. What I understand this to mean is that if your car doesn't pass smog, you don't pay anything. If you have that same understanding - well, no offense, but you're wrong. Way wrong. The no pass no pay thing equals 81.75 to start, then 18.25 for the 'free re-test'. Meaning if it doesn't pass the SECOND time, after I have already paid 81.75, then I won't pay the 18.25. (10 'evap' and 8.25 smog certificate). You never pay for the certificate if your car doesn't pass, so really this comes out to two tests for 81.75 if it doesn't pass both times. If it pass the second time, then the total bill is an even $100.00 Whew. I'll just bet I can get a few tests for one hundred dollars. So it's not working for me. But it might work for you. Here is the bottom line, and it's a big one. IF you have NOT taken your car ANYWHERE else - in other words, if it hasn't failed smog yet, then I suppose it would be okay to take your car there and take your chances. Oh - the 81.75 applies to a 'heavy duty vehicle'. You may pay less. Good luck. read more

I agree with Dav V. I've had a few problems here with this company after they had moved locations. I had a completely legal swap with a sticker from BAR stating my swap was 100% legal. After we went on and on about why they couldn't do it, I went somewhere else and passed with flying colors. I'll never refer people here like I used to. read more

Make sure you call before going to this place to make sure they are actually open during their posted biz hours (supposedly 5:30). Drove all the way over at 4:00pm and was told they were closing early and would not do a smog for me. Dont you guys know its bad business juju to not be open during posted hours?? read more

This is the second time I have had a problem with this place, the first time I let slide and figured stuff happens and I would comeback because it's so close to my home. We bought a used vehicle from a friend and brought it in to autotek to have smogged. They failed the vehicle without running in on their dyno due to "blue smoke" and non fuel rated vacuum hose. I never saw blue smoke and neither did the person with me. The tech never showed us the blue smoke and just handed us a list of reasons why it was blue. I took the vehicle home and drove it rather hard to see if I could see any blue smoke and couldn't. We were going to give the vehicle back to the seller based on what autotek told us, until I decided to go down the street to another smog company whom we have never used just a couple of hours after leaving autotek. The vehicle passed smog just fine and the technician couldn't find any blue smoke. I called autotek and their response was it was smoking at the shop and they have no control over what "happened" after we left. That came from the same tech that failed the vehicle. Never again will I bring another vehicle there. As mentioned this is the second time I have had a problem here both times with the same tech. read more

I got my car smoged here today 2/12/14... I walked in gave them my info I had 3 people in front of me so I asked if I could leave and come back (I needed to go to the bank) they said yes and I didn't even lose my spot in line :-) by the time I got back it was my turn. I sat in the waiting room with my small dog all the staff I talked to were very nice $60 for the smog and if it doesn't pass they give you 60days to bring it back not 30like other places... This place just like any other business in the world has policies, so don't expect to bring your car that has failed in the past and think they are gunna do a "free" test smog for you! I will be telling all my friends who need a good smog shop about this one! read more

Recently I took my Toyota truck in to get looked at, it had a timing issue. Well, come to find out it had a misfire issue but the guys at Autotek figured out the problem and had my Toyota running perfect that same day. I wasn't expecting to get my truck back the same day being it was dropped off after 10am that morning. But they managed to get it fixed and had me back on the road that afternoon. The charge for the diagnosis was all I paid for but they fixed more than what needed to be done. They fixed all my vacuum lines and had my alternator belt put on. All in all they exceeded my expectations. I will definitely be back when I need smog or small repairs done. read more

Do not go there. Took my car in for a SMOG. They failed it for black smoke coming out of the exhaust, a liquid gasoline leak, and a bad PCV valve. Took the car to a STAR certified repair shop and got a completely different response. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR. IT TOTALLY PASSED THE SMOG TEST. It cost me double to get it smoged because I had to pay for the diagnostics, and then the smog test. Incompetent?? Very!! read more

I just had my Smog done on my work truck 1979 Ford F-350 it passed 2 years ago ,, but I always wonder when it wont ,, moved to the 95843 zip , figured Id support the local business' , these people at Autotek ,, smogged and tuned and rerouted some vacuum hoses others missed and got the vacuum advance working again ,, the truck runs better then ever , and looking at the max allowed vs. measured gases ,, it is running so clean I have never seen it this clean ever ,, I am giving these guys a full five ,, this truck was a gross polluter 7 years ago between frequent oil changes and good,, to now great Smog tech. this is complying and still servicing my livelihood ... you should go there ,go have lunch ,let them work their abilities dont worry about time you do this every 2 years read more

I went there today. I was there at 10:20 am. I said hello to a lady in the waiting room. 5 minutes in I made a comment about how they need a bell to ring, she laughed. 5 minutes later she got picked up. I saw/heard the two male employees talking in the bay. I walked right by the window I could see them (they could see me)and used the restroom. When I was coming out of the restroom I walk right by the same window I could see them and they saw me. I stood in the waiting room for 30 mins while listening to their "personal" conversation. I also called the shop while waiting and no answer. I don't "as a customer" need to hear your personal business. You saw me come in, see if I need help or not.
