Needed a smog check and found the Smog Center through a Yelp search. The Smog Center is situated behind the Chevron on Galilee Rd. and is easy to pass up. At the time of my visit there was no wait and it took all of 15-20 minutes. It was a quick and easy process with no hassle and no wait. The price was decent compared to other places and if you check-in through Yelp, you get a $10 off coupon. I think I paid around $50.00. Go here. And I will tell you why- First, it has been a 3 year odyssey when we moved to California with a 1988 Jeep that had an "illegal" carburetor. Long story short, I had to have a fuel injection system installed for about $2500 to just get the car legal. It is a damn heirloom or I would have sold it, left it for dead, something. Anyways, the new system added power and better gas milage while passing smog. At that time, the shop that installed the system had it smogged, and then I registered it here in California which also cost a small fortune. Now, it came time for renewal and try as I might, I could not find a place willing to smog the vehicle. I got excuses ranging from "the tires are not standard" to just plain old "we don't smog check old jeeps" which oddly sounds somewhat illegal. Anyways, after five different smog centers turned me away, I talked with my mechanic who told me the truth- they don't want to do the extra work involving the dyno and if it doesn't pass then they are on the line for a recheck. So, my wife had used this place for a different vehicle and was treated well and the process was quick. I pulled in, the tech got right on it, knew the actual process for the non-factory fuel injection, did all the tests, and $53 dollars later the Jeep passed with flying colors (beating every other vehicle in our possession which includes some much newer cars) This place has earned my business. I will not go anywhere else, the tech didn't hesitate, even though it was towards the end of his day, and despite the non-standard tires, aftermarket fuel injection and age, he somehow summoned the courage to press on! So, for those who may be thinking "there are many options around this place" I can tell you I tried nearly every one within a mile or so and this one treated me the best and without some stupid excuse. 7-2-2020 in the midst of Covid- I pulled up and there was one car in process. I went in, had sanitizer provided immediately, the staff were in masks and had a plexiglass shield. Maybe, and I mean maybe it took 20 min. They enforced social distancing and only allowed 2 customers in the office. As I was the second, I decided to sit outside and enjoy the sun and nice warm day. I was enjoying myself when surprisingly my car came out. The tech washed down everything he touched, thanked me for the business and went back in. I was in, car passed, and out paid in under two minutes. I have never been to a better run business especially during covid let alone a smog station. Bring your car here. As I understand, they do take reservations, but I have never had to get one. Admittedly, I hate the laws requiring smog tests. It's mostly a racket to raise taxes here in California. They need to phase it out for newer cars and older ones, meaning the middle cars need to be checked. Also, it should be extended to three years. With that said, I still love this place! read more

The lady on the phone kept saying my RV was too big even though they did the smog last time. Finally they agreed and I said I would be in later in the afternoon. They then called and said it is too hot today to do a smog and could I come in another day. Seriously!!! Business must be way too good to do a $100+ smog. It was Friday afternoon. I put off my smog check which I needed for my renewal due on Sunday. I went to a "cheap" smog place at 4:30pm and they told me their Star certification was revoked by the State and so they couldn't do my smog check. I yelped the next closest smog place, and Smog Center popped up. I called to confirm they were open and could do Star smogs and headed their way. I was in and out in about 10 minutes and the worker was friendly. I would have saved about $13 at the original place ($40 vs $53) but I had a good experience here and will continue to patronize their business. read more
