Went in for a simple spark plug. Ten minutes later and 3 different cash registers later I left without the spark plug that was in cashiers hand. I had to walk out. I was getting to frustrated at the situation. I walk in I'm the only customer there. I'm greeted with a very happy very bubbly delivery driver. I know from past experience that this transaction action will most likely end in disaster but I give him the benefit of the doubt. I ask for spark plug, he asked year make and model, give him my answer. He made an attempt to make a joke about my truck. Failed because he mumbled his remark and I made him repeat himself because I couldn't understand his mumbling. He then says," one question". He asked me 2 or 4. I said 2 or 4 what? 4wd or 2 wd he says. That doesn't matter but I said 4wd. He types away and asked me what engine I have. That is THEE only question I should be asked. 4wd or 2 wd doesn't affect spark plug decision making, I'm sorry but it doesn't. I told him I have a V8. He then asked me what engine I have. Am I talking to a brick wall? Then to top it all off he tries to sell me a champion spark plug. Ladies and gentlemen I own a 04 F150. Who in the right mind would put a fucking $20 champion platinum spark plug in a ford engine? He starts listing off all these other spark plugs I gave him the good ol you're a complete idiot look and said I want a motorcraft spark plug for my fire. Anyone who sells auto parts should know basic information on what they're selling. NGK imports, small engine and Jeeps get champion, Ford gets motorcraft. He asked me how many I need. I said 2. He says good because we only have 2. I have a V8, if one plug is bad there's a good chance I need more than 1. What if I needed 8? You gonna send me to your competition to go get it? You gonna order it and make me wait 45-120+ to receive it? Thankfully I only needed 1. He walks away to go get the spark plug. 5 minutes later he finally comes back. Spark plug is $12.49. I have $5 cash and the rest is gonna be paid by my card (split payment ppl ok not rocket science ) he says can't do this transaction here because this register only takes credit. I get that ok we move on down. He then says he doesn't know how to do a split payment. I told him to enter in the $5 cash and then do the remainder on credit/debit card. Me a customer instructions an employee on how to do his job. That registers card reader doesn't work. By this time the GM finally walks over and tries to help seeing how I've been in this shop for about 10min now. Was supposed to be in and out im on the clock and I need to go! He then says we need to move to the next register. By this time another customer walks in and is being instructed on how to use the brake pad compressor and I have to wait until the customer understands how to use what he is about to rent. I don't have the time. I asked for my $5 back and I walk out. I was in that shop for way over 10 minutes and all I needed was 1 spark plug. Don't set your stupid delivery drivers out on the front counter and they have zero to no training. I don't care how good of a mood he was in. That only made things worse when it came to selling me the spark plug. I'd rather have a pissed off guy who gets me in and out vs happy go lucky and he takes his time and still fails to sell me anything. I've walked out of auto parts store without the part I wanted before but I've never walked out of the store when they had the part I needed. It was in the drivers hand. I saw it. I had no time for this nonsense. All I wanted was my damn spark plug. I've been a GM at an auto parents store before. If my delivery drivers wanted to sell parts to customers I personally made sure they all knew how to work the counter so I would avoid nasty calls form assholes complaining about their experience at my shop. I'm working out of town so I hit up the local autozone. Big mistake. If I was in a real bind and I absolutely needed that plug. I would have gone off on everyone in that store. It's a small town where oreillys (absolute garbage), advanced auto and autozone are all on the same stretch of road and not even 1 mile from each other. Auto parts stores are failing because of ppl like that. It's a small town, can't be good for corporate when idiots like this work for them. read more
