My wife and I were vacationing in Folly and our battery died. Our neighbors in Folly jumped our car so we could get into town to get a new battery. We stopped at Autozone in James Island to get a new battery and for them to change the battery for us, like they advertise. Well...... I was met with "we can't do." I asked what do you mean? Again..."we can't do it. It requires an electronic reset and we can't do it."Which is odd because back home the Autozone changed the battery the last time I needed one with no questions asked. I drove across the street and David at Parks auto parts got me the battery, allowed me to use their tools, and helped me change it. Today I went to Auto zone to buy replacement windshield blades for my vehicle and was greeted by a smiling face. I was not sure of the size so a check was made to see if I was buying the right size. I wasn't able to put them on myself but Jennifer Gray said she would be happy to do it for me. she was a real delight and new blades were installed in about 3 minutes. Came here for a dead battery and Mr. Ron Allen was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. He even found where squirrels have been in my engine even after I just took my car to Hendrick Toyota in North Charleston. I mean a full rag, acorns, and some lining from them chewing on things. Love these folks. They are a treat to have on James Island and for those that know the area, it is not lacking in auto parts and accessory shops. There is Napa and O'Reilly's to name two others within almost walking distance. This staff goes the extra mile. They take extra time with their customers, they will ensure you get the right part and offer a generous return policy. They will test your batteries and install new ones right on the spot. The selection is excellent. This is where I get all my synthetic oil. The key thing is the staff of automotive experts that guide you through your needs with a smile. I went here on this trip needing windshield wipers and a tail light, but have been here many times before for other auto needs. The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. They always "install" your items for you too, which is a nice added benefit. Before you purchase, they will offer you your appropriate options and don't steer you to the most expensive item necessarily. They talk you through any warranties that might apply, even for previous purchases. They create an account for you to search recent sales in the future if needed. It has definitely saved me. They have a small parking lot out front and are located right on Folly Road for easy access. Consider this store for your next automotive needs. read more

This review is way overdue but the service stuck with me and I had to come write a review. I pulled in with a check engine light that I was completely stumped about. Not only did they use their scanner to provide the code, they identified the cracked hose that caused the code! They opened my hood and even showed me. There it was in plain view... with a crack in it. Even knowing I was starting at a cracked hose, they didn't pressure me into buying the part right then on the spot and I can't say how much I appreciated this helpful but not pushy approach!!! After considering my options, I did end up purchasing the hose and when it came in, they even put it in for me (since it was a VERY simple install). They offered when I ordered and remembered when I came back to pick it up. From start to finish they were more helpful than I could have expexted without being pushy. It left a huge positive impression, especially since they went above and beyond. I was very pleased! read more

Went in to buy a replacement alternator for my old truck. When the man at the counter asked if he could help me, I told him a needed a rebuilt alternator for my Chevy etc. He proceeded to ask if I had called ahead to special order it....an alternator for a Chevy Silverado! As if it would not be in stock! He continued to be curt with me and act as though I had no business in a parts store. Long story short, I walked out, turned my truck left and rolled up to Parks Auto Parts where they HAPPILY looked up the replacement part for my vehicle and sold it to me. Beware women mechanics, the man there had no intention of helping me buy a replacement alternator. I felt like I had walked into another country, from the way he struggled to understand my request for a very COMMON and BASIC PART! No I did not call to special order a product that is COMMONLY stocked by auto part stores across the nation. Even with my uterus, I knew this...that and my experience changing 4 alternators on James Island in the last decade. I don't normally do reviews, but I am absolutely sick of being treated like I'm stupid in stores that men perceive as man-zones. So I am calling it out. DO BETTER! WOMEN WORK HARD WE DESERVE RESPECT! I was treated poorly and rudely here. A couple of minutes down the road, the other two men treated me with dignity and respect and valued my knowledge and good humor. I went to Autozone because my car battery was going bad. I pulled up and was instantly greeted by an employee already changing another customer's battery. The entire process took about 30 minutes for a battery test to determine if my battery was actually faulty, which it was. The employee (Ryan) was great and made easy conversation during the process. The service to replace the battery is free if it easily accessible. The battery was replaced and I was on my way with zero hassle. read more

I went there in about September & got my battery replaced, but they installed the wrong one. I was kinda mad because in order to pass Pennsylvania state inspection I had to buy a whole new battery. But I went back to Autozone and gave them back the battery and they gave me a full refund, and were very kind and apologetic. read more

This one could go both ways very easily. Patience on part of the customer sometimes is necessary for an experience to go one way or the other. Overall a good experience although I can tell some would have been crazily frustrated. The phone was constantly ringing and nobody was able to get it and if they did I feel they cut off most of those calling in. They were backed up because apparently today was the busiest day for dead batteries of all time. I of course needed a battery. They were so busy they told me it would be a while which made me think a long time. They said 15 minutes. No so bad and if necessary I found on Yelp a bar very close by. But alas one of the employees that apparently was on some sort of break showed up and was able to attend to my needs. We did the battery and got a decent price and they install it all right there and then. Something weird happened with the money transaction but I think it fixed itself. They took the old battery and it was all done. I ended up with a free coke because on the second monetary transaction that was left off probably due to the confusion of the employees. I think half the customers were not super happy but who is when going to AutoZone for a needed item to make your car work again. And due to me leaving after only about 20-30 minutes and with battery installed and a free coke I would say that overall it was a very good experience. read more

After trying 2 other auto parts stores I ended up at auto zone. A super nice woman Antoinette physically opened about a hundred boxes looking for the part I needed that didn't have a part #. In the meantime, another employee JC, who was off the clock, logged into a computer to try and cross reference. This is the most exceptional service I have received in years at any retail outlet!
