This was the most beneficial, most helpful experience I've ever had when it comes to car repair. After being taken advantage of by a car repair spot in town I headed to Autozone to pick up an expensive auto part that supposedly needed. I had the good fortune of having Alissa assist me. She double checked to see if what I'd been told was true (it wasn't true). She also redid some shoddy work the other place didn't do well but still charged me for-- all of this for no charge, at the same time educating me about how to diagnose any simple issues on my own in the future. I can't thank her enough for her patience with me and I highly recommend a visit to this Autozone for actual help and professionalism. I've shopped at AutoZone before for oil and other random stuff for my car, but today I went in for headlight bulbs for my car. I knew the exact ones I wanted and was planning on doing them myself. Gino (maybe the manager? I'm not sure, seemed as though because he was really knowledgeable and friendly) found me the bulbs I wanted from the back room since the peg was empty. Not only that but he installed them for me! It was super quick and he was so nice. Felt as though there was a little upwelling, but the overall information was good and I feel as though I was able to walk out with what I needed. I needed help with some dead turn signals and I didn't know exactly where to start, so I picked Autozone in Union City as a starting point. After a quick explanation of the problem, the guy across the counter quickly looked up my cars info on his computer and handed over the new part. Then, he asked if I needed help installing it which I thought was super nice. Unfortunately, I had driven over there in a different car so I told him I'd be back at a later time. During the weekend, I finally got around to taking my car back to Autozone, but decided to go to this one, since it's a lot closer to my house. I was pretty surprised that the salesperson at the other Autozone had offered to actually install the new part for me, so I was expecting the same type of service at this place. Thankfully, the service I received here was far superior than what I had imagined. The manager, Mosiah helped me to get the right part and then proceeded to install the new part for me. It took almost an hour of figuring out the problem, replacing the part and then replacing another part and another. In the end, we didn't fix the turn signals because the problem needs a mechanic. However, Mosiah told me exactly what the car needs and referred me to his trusted mechanic. After all that, he even helped to put all the old parts back in the car and then returned the parts that I had bought but didn't need. That's awesome service! I couldn't stop thanking him for all of his extra help (especially under the 80 degree blazing sun!) but he said it was nothin'. I don't feel deathly afraid of car issues after this experience because I found a place that I can go to for honest and helpful service without being charged an arm and a leg. read more

Pros: this place makes it easy to find the stuff you need because they have nice signs that categorizes everything. Now here's the downside to my visit: I need a crush washer for my oil drain plug for my honda. Unfortunately I don't know the size. Asks an employee for help, he goes to the computer... types in honda washer, he stares aimlessly trying to figure out what to select to find the right part. Doesnt seem to know what to search it under. He tries to search it under oil filter... still no go... So he goes and asks a co-worker where all of the washers were at. He walks to the washer aisle and extends his arms in a promotional-style and goes- "so here's of all of our washer." Yeah but what size do I get? "well do you know what bolt size you need?" .... Yeah dude honestly that's a harder question than what I actually came in for. I know almost nothing about cars. I politely excused myself away...off to O'Reilly across the street I go. Appreciated the tried attempt of helping, but I just wasted 20 minutes in this store coming out with nothing. read more

Wow a surreal experience in incompetence. I went in to buy a gas cap and borrow an old reader. Online it said they had the gas cap in stock so I walked around the store unfortunately its behind the counter. I saw 1 employee free so asked him to search for the part I showed him on my phone. He has trouble finding my car entering it wrong so I wait.. another employee helps him. Then he's keeps saying fuel filter so I remind him it's a fuel cap I want.. he asks for help so after I wait another employee helps him spell fuel (he forgot the e) and cap not sure how he'd spelled that. So I can see the screen bow it shows 3 parts the 3rd I can read is same I see on my phone.. the guy helping me says I don't know how to tell if it's in stock.. so I wait and he asks someone who says oh the top item says hub that means it's in hayward.. not sure about the 3rd cap on the page but that employee already left and guy helping me.. so I give up and ask to borrow old reader.. he doesn't know what it is so I explain it and he starts searching the system for it.. so I remind him I just want to borrow it.. again he asks a coworker for help so I wait.. his coworker says of course and old reader let him borrow it.. and I wait he asks his coworker where it is and is told.. " I don't work at this store you have to wait" At this point it's been 15 minutes so I leave and say thanks .. Odd experience wasting time for simple parts read more

Last night I was looking for snow chains for my upcoming trip to Tahoe. I asked one of the staff there and he told me they don't carry them. Then he went ahead and told me that I can find them in REI Sporting. "REI?" I thought I heard it wrong. "Yes REI Sporting", he replied. Since REI is only 2 miles away from Autozone, I drove to REI. And you guessed it, people in REI had no idea why Autozone referred me to their place for snow chains. Also I found it very hard to find stuff in Autozone. I was looking for auto glass wash but they were placed no where close to the wiper blades, as I'd expect. read more

Just had the coolest experience ever. Car battery died and got a jump from AAA, drove straight to this autozone to get a free battery test. David came out even though store was busy and helped me. We realized the battery at this point was completely dead and wouldn't even take a charge again, so I was stuck! Just so happened a customer overheard and volunteered to replace my battery for me since I have no idea what I'm doing! What a Good Samaritan! David, the employee also lent us tools to get this done. I am able to get the parts I needed quickly from this store. It's what you might expect from a chain car store, but the customer service can be truly exceptional--far better than Nordstrom, even. Sam Samreth (also mentioned by another reviewer) was exceptionally helpful with helping me find the part I needed. He even went out with me to understand what I needed. When it turned out that my car needed a non-standard part, he went back to the store and kept on helping me until we found the right solution. I was very impressed. He did not give up and was very kind. Even after I went out of the store, he checked up on me to make sure that I didn't have trouble installing the new part. Being on wait on the phone for a long time and calling on the phone few times with no answer. Lol I asked for a brake caliper and rotor yesterday for a Chevy silverado and they come back to me with brake pads. imagine that.

My work truck would not start today and despite trying to jump it for almost 30 minutes, it did not work. I suspected the battery was shot and took it in to oriellys where they checked my battery, showed me the amp meter ( it showed replace battery, no juice). Perhaps these other reviews explain why ONE visit is sufficient for me. Instead of doing their jobs - selling auto parts and directing people to where a particular category of parts might be hidden - these employees seem to be spending extended periods of time chatting with customers and each other. After walking through the whole store - twice - looking for something they SHOULD have in stock, I just left. Forever. It's not your job to install parts, boys. Great service! Came in earlier today having no idea what kind of light bulb/HID I needed for my car. Sam was very helpful, informing me which one I needed to get. He was also more than happy to help me install it on my BMW, which surprised me because changing the bulbs on BMWs can be a REAL pain compared to most cars. It reads your pcu and they get the code off the computer in store and try to sell you more shit. Cheaters trying to steal money from you, please be aware. I replaced my car battery in this store last week and just noticed today from my credit card bill that I got charged twice. What happened was they first tried to sell the battery to you that doesn't fit, then returned it and made you bought another more expensive one. HOWEVER, BE AWARE that the refund receipt they gave you was not actually a refund, it's a VOUCHER that had to be taken to the cashier to get the actual refund. AND OF COURSE they won't tell that and you GOT IT FROM THE CASHIER himself. VERY VERY SHADY BUSINESS and I am surprised that a business that set up traps like this to their customers still exists in the market. PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM IT. read more

Just a wide enough selection of real car parts, chemicals and tools to get what you need done. If you've got a common car, they've typically got your part in stock. Pay attention to the oil change deals they run on the weekends, and get dino, syn blend or full syn plus a filter for decent prices. The crew I dealt with on the weekend were as helpful and knowledgeable as I needed them to be. -1 star for not having the one obscure inverted-flare-to-fuel-line fitting I needed. read more
