I have a 2000 Expedition and need a new rotor, wheel bearing (front and back), axle washer, brake pads, and seal. I went to different well-known auto parts stores and most of them don't have the parts I needed. I went to Napa and Jeffrey helped me get all the parts I needed. The rotor/hub assembly is only available in their Santa Clara store and he offered to have it sent to their store but I have to pick it up the next morning. He informed me that the part will be available at 9 am. When I called the next morning at 9 am, I was notified that the part arrived. Battery in the wife's car died. I went to Napa Auto Parts in Newark (on line) and ordered a new one. Simple. Pulled the old battery out and took it to Napa. They had my new battery ready. That's when I noticed it was not a Mopar battery but a Napa battery only a year old. (Forgot I replaced the battery a year before.) I pointed to the date sticker and said "Doesn't this mean the battery is free? Roxanne was working the cash register and she looked at the battery and said " yup it's free." I went to the car got out the receipt and wham, free new battery. I was surprised. Joe came up and said "yes it is free with receipt." Couldn't have been happier. Great service from Roxanne and Joe. I have been coming to this location for about 5 years. 90% of the time I have dealt with Roxanne, this review on this store is based off her and her excellent service. She is with out a doubt in my mind the reason we continue to come in. She is super nice,sweet and knowledgeable. Napa needs to make sure she is taken care of and is happy. Needed help figuring out what brakes would be best for my car as I'm not a car person. My family and I have been going to this Napa for years as they are always knowledgeable and professional and today was helped by Justin who was the complete opposite. Along with talking very sarcastically was short and questioned me like I was on some game show with a timer ticking. I don't usually expect exceptional service when I go to an auto parts store, since there is so much traffic coming in and out. With the busyness with needing auto parts and repair, nobody has the time or courtesy to be polite and this is something that I have become accustomed to. Both times that I have visited this Napa Auto Parts location though, I have been pleasantly delighted by how friendly and attentive the staff has been. During my last visit, I observed that even with the phone continuously ringing off the hook, Roxanne and the other worker there were friendly, courteous, and polite to the both the phone and in person customers. Both times I was there to buy a battery and was told about promotions that would save me money if I spent just another few dollars. This was not something Roxanne or her coworkers needed to do, but by doing so they saved me money, increased sales for the store, and made a regular customer out of me. In reading some of the poor reviews, it seems as if the people who had bad experiences expected the Napa folks to be mind readers about what parts they need, model numbers, etc. C'mon, you gotta at least do a little work yourself and know what you are looking for. As I mentioned, they receive a lot of inquiries both by phone and in person, so you need to come correct and be a little patient. I been trying to find a battery for my 2005 Toyota Sequoia since Costco stopped carrying the specs I needed & other auto parts stores would have to order it which could take days to arrive. My dad told me to check on the NAPA website to see if they carried it in store and I ended up making an online order for pickup with a few other items. Since there was a promo going on, I got to save some money. When my order was confirmed ready for pickup, I went into the store where an employee told me there was a problem with how the system processed my order but he would manually fix it so I receive the discount and remove the core charge. When everything settled and I paid for my items, he brought out a hand truck so I could push the battery to my car instead of carrying it. Two stars. Think of AutoZone, a little less mainstream, less gimmicky decals and silly accessories and you have Napa Auto. Same sparkling customer service, superb automotive knowledge and warm feelings. That last part was all sarcasm, in case you missed that. Honestly, the only thing that Napa has that places like AutoZone or Pep Boys doesn't is their own line of parts which is more recognized though of equal quality of AutoZone's "Duralast" and superior to PepBoy's whatever brand. Napa has some weird quirks that really put me off to the place, especially for an automotive store: - No returns to other Napa stores - No return on "tools", even if un-opened and un-used - Prices higher on same/similar items So say I was driving back from Reno, picked up some tools and then came back to the Bay only to realize I already had the tools, I could return them to the local Napa store right? NOPE. OK...how about I just picked up a tool at Napa, saw it cheaper elsewhere, I could return it then, right? NOPE. I tried to return a "form a funnel", completely un-opened, and the manager looked at me, looked away and said "that is considered a tool, all tool sales are final". Funny, doesn't say that anywhere on my receipt nor was it mentioned before I purchased it as is common practice elsewhere when such a condition exists. I went in store and they said that they didn't have the part I wanted in stock and that they had to order it online. It finally came in a whole 2 weeks later and they completely got the wrong size AND only ordered one when I specifically told them I needed a specific size and that I need two of them. When I went to return it, they said I needed a receipt even after they messed up my order! I tried to call and try to work it out but they were being so difficult to work with, rude, and incompetent. TLDR: Kyle, Steve, and Jacob at Napa auto parts in Newark are amazing and you can trust that they will have what you need or can source it quickly at a reasonable price. I have a 1979 Chevy Cheyenne that had been sitting in my driveway since 2013, just taunting me to get her working. My wife finally said either fix it or get rid of it and well I was not about to let her go after years of planning and, well, she is my truck so I had to fight to keep her. So my buddy and I take her apart and get the engine out thinking we are going to rebuild it because "well how hard could it be?", ha! This is where Napa of Newark and Steve comes in to the story. Steve helped us source all of the parts we were going to need within 24 hours, though most of it was within a few hours. I was shocked at the service and professionalism that Steve provided me. So, fast forward a month of weekends, my buddy and I end up finding out we were just going to have to scrap the block and started looking for an engine. I read forums and the like but only had basic knowledge of what I needed. So I knew where to turn and called Napa again. This time I spoke with Kyle, who knows his stuff. He guided me to the right engine and even answered technical questions while explaining it in a way I could understand, all while having a positive attitude. So the engine finally arrives and now I needed all the bolt ons, hoses, and belts and I knew just where to go. So we just take all our hoses and belts and bring them down to napa and Jacob takes them and gets me exactly what I needed, which I appreciated because I honestly had no clue what I needed. Kyle saved me a bunch of money by setting me up with break in oil, which I would've just put in 10w30 and ruined my new engine. Also, again, they got all the parts I needed within 24 hours though most of it was in stock or transferred from another store within hours, which allowed me to go back to working on the truck until the part came in. I went back and forth a lot those two weekends due to my inexperience but the crew at napa guided me to success and provided a level of service that is hard to find now a days. This place is the best when it comes to service and parts. Main reason they know what they are talking about unlike the guys that worked at kragen (O'Reily now). When asking a question to the employees at kragens they seem to give really shittty answers. like "hey where do u have X ?,oh its somewhere over in the back i don't know what side but its over there". with Napa they always know where their items are located, always on top with there customer service. they dont have that one party they will call every napa store till they find one then have it deviled to the store for next day pick up. Very unknowledgeable called to ask for a motorcycle battery but they expect you to know your part number saying they can't look up you motorcycle probably just an lazy employee but if I go to a part store with my year make and model usually they should be able to tell me what part I need and provide me with the part number not ask me what my part number is and tell me they can't help me without it. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Only one star because there is no "no star" options. Without a doubt the WORST auto parts store I've ever been to. I waited over 45 minutes to get assistance with only two people in front of me, then a random guy walks up and the guy behind the counter starts helping him out. I said I was there first and he said "Well we let our customers sort that out." Umm, What?! You've got to be kidding me. On top of this the guy had no clue between a Subaru Legacy and an Impreza and to top that off he didn't even want to look up the part for me! All that waiting for nothing! I felt like a total idiot for standing there, trying to give them my business! I have never been treated like that in -any- store. I wanted to buy wipers for my Land Rover. I called Napa in Newark and they said that their Hayward store had them. I called first to verify that they we available and then went to Hayward store. They did not have them. I went back to the Newark store and they said that they could order them as they have many in their warehouse. They would be there by 11AM the next day. Called at Noon the next day. The fellow I spoke w/ was very confused and did not know anything about the order. He finally found the order and said that the wipers would probably there at 1:30PM with the next delivery (he indicated that there was a delivery from their warehouse earlier in the AM). What a waste of time! Poor customer service. I went online and found the wiper blades I needed online and $10 cheaper (w/ free shipping & no tax). I had them the next day. Want to waste some time? Customer service was ok but when I walked in looking for a spark plug socket I was the only customer there. Hmmm that should tell you something? The price for the socket was more expensive than AutoZone :( . Not coming here again for my auto supplies needs. The socket costs 8 bucks here as suppose to 4 bucks at AutoZone. Also the spark plug wires were 10 bucks more expensive as suppose for ones online for the same car. I only came here to buy the spark plug wires because AutoZone didn't have them. read more

Special ordered a part and prepaid for the part. Credit card was charged and I later received a call the part had arrived from their Los Angeles facility. Three days after that I arrive to pick up my part and provided the counter person a copy of their web page clearly describing the item along with its part number and image. I'm told they can see ten of these parts had indeed arrived at their store,,, however,, no one can locate my part. After 35 minutes of patient waiting while three personnel explore around the store looking for my item, I ask for the name of the manager and am told it is E***. At this point I had to depart for another appointment and they took my name and number with the stated understanding that E*** will call me tomorrow. Next day update - no call back, returned to the store - still can't locate my part and asked for & received a refund. I'm probably done with this store...back to Amazon. SAD read more

Knowledgeable staff and they get the parts you need. I went in with a question about my 2003 gmc expecting the worse they came out did a battery,alternator and starter test for free. I asked the guy at the counter what could be wrong he showed me how to test my battery cables and it ended up being a $15 part when I was convinced I was going to spend at least $150.00 or more for a battery. Can't really compare other stores with this one, but I would just like to thank Eric the manager for the great service. He tested my starter and tested good, but when I reinstalled, my truck did not start. He warranty the starter with no question ask. Reinstalled starter and car starts perfectly. I thought I would have to buy a new starter because it tested good, but I guess their testing machine only test if the shaft come out and not how strong it cranks.
