We came here primarily through the Bureau of Automotive Repair (BAR) program to retire our vehicle and for the east bay, this was the closest site contracted by the state to handle these requests. No appointment is needed as they service walk ins all day (check their time of operation ahead of your visit to confirm they're open but they're typically open from 8:30 to 4 pm Monday to Saturday). Before you head out, if you plan to sell your car, make sure you have all the required documentation. Be sure to bring your vehicle title, drivers license, and letter of approval (for the BAR program, you need to first apply online first and receive a physical letter to confirm your application). If your title has an "and" on it (joint ownership), all parties must be present with their valid drivers license. If not, they'll turn you away and you'll have to come back another time. Also, plan to have the process take about two hours. If you're simply coming for digging for scraps and parts, bring forms of payment (cash, credit), tools (depending on what you're looking for, a wagon might be worthwhile to include at your disposal), and protective gear. There's an entrance fee of $4 and any parts you're looking to purchase will be processed separately. Located in the outskirts of Newark, it'll seem like you're heading to nowhere once you pass the railroad tracks. Keep going and be prepared to turn into the large parking lot. Park your car at any of the spots. After you've arrived, head on up to the shop. For those going to the scrapyard, hang a left and head to the kiosk to sign your waiver and pay the entry fee. For those looking to sell their car, head towards to the office building to the right where they typically would have a simple clipboard and sign in sheet right outside the door. Put your name and phone number down and someone will eventually come out and read out the name to service you. I say "eventually" because there's one person handling these from my experience and if they're preoccupied with another sale, you're left to wait without much of a direction or guidance until they get to you. "Just stick around" is the response we have gotten before we were serviced, after we were serviced and waiting for them to evaluate the car, and after everything was processed and we were waiting for the check. To add to the excruciating wait, the staff member assigned to this operation is the most obnoxiously slow and curt worker I have ever witnessed. Fortunately, they were knowledgeable and I'm just glad the government program has all the prices set to simplify the fund exchange. Overall, Pick-n-Pull certainly has a reputation as a place to be able to source parts from junk cars for car enthusiasts, collectors, and mechanics but they also operate on behalf of the state for retiring vehicles. Like it or not, you may end up spending more time here than expected but at the end of the day, you knew what you were getting into. Personally, there'd be little reason for me to venture out here but they served their purpose, albeit with a few unnecessary hurdles. read more

Sold my car here. They directly deposited the funds into my checking account, then mysteriously withdrew them two days later, causing me to incur overdraft fees. It took me a few hours on the phone with my bank and P&P to figure out what was going on. I still don't understand what happened but P&P then had me drive in person to pick up a paper check. When I showed up, the rude brain dead employee in the office had no idea what he was doing or where he was, seemingly. I had to call the corporate office in order to get them to print out my check remotely. Shady and incompetent. read more

Crooks, strarting at the gate, Racists. Starting at the gate, the Vietnamese guy there tried to charge me triple to enter, asking for $12 because i was not a "member". (Its $4 for everyone, giant sign on the booth, and that's a ripoff in itself, but that's on management.) I've never seen such a brazen attempt. When I asked to talk to the manager, I got the Asst. Manager, she played played dumb. They are probably all steeling from the owner. If they are cheating you at the gate, you can be certain, they are cheating you at checkout. 8/22/2026 around noon, I was there. I will never be back. This is a yard to be avoided at all costs. Pick-n-Pull corporate should flash that whole team, whom I am sure will have a nice cover story lie all set up. This staff is so bad, they are selling their dignity for $8. Don't believe me, send in an undercover spy or three or four. With the waivers, its impossible for them to steel from the till now vis-a-vis count, so they have to try something else. I've been to 3 other Pick-n-Pull, and never had this kind of issue, so I think its just this location. read more

The worst experience you can have at an auto wrecking yard. Every visit starts out normally, but as soon as I get to the cashier to pay for the part I pulled for my car, I end up dealing with Erika -- one of the rudest women I've ever met. She clearly doesn't understand what customer service is and behaves as if she's above the customers. It's always a terrible experience. read more

SHADY PEOPLE. My husband and I have bought multiple cars from there reliable and running for YEARS and always gave good deals. Now I am not sure if there is new management but each person gives different information. Usually you ask for the key to the cars on sale to see inside in exchange for your ID. My husband asked for a car , gave ID and started it, wanted to come back to get me to see it. We come back now they tell us someone needs to come out to give us keys no ID. We said no worries, we waited, then decided to just get back in line and purchase the vehicle. The woman at the window whom I assume is manager we waved her down in line that we are buying it and she nodded and confirmed. An asian employee comes out gives the key to someone else , I walk up to tell him my husband and I are in line to pay, he says for us to come back over but I said we decided to buy already. The employee while we were in line to purchase it, SOLD it to another person! By the time we came up to the window, the woman said okay lets get your car purchase and the asian employee walks by and says it was sold to someone else. The woman said sorry another costumer committed. He didnt wait in line which you are supposed to do! I asked the woman if he is in charge of the car sales and she said no? So be careful! I guess if you confirm to purchase a vehicle with one employee, another employee is going to sell it to you in FRONT OF YOUR FACE! We went to sell a old vehicle to the yard. The man who helped us, was super nice and made this process very easy. Kwok was the man who helped us. Give him a raise and some help on the weekends. Now the parking area was a little crazy! People drive nuts in there. Also some looking shady folks around. The roach coach or food truck in the parking lot... ugh. I'm a Caucasian male so I can only assume the lady did not think I understand a word of Spanish. We ordered the same thing as the person in front of us and we're charged more money. I had to go back 3 times to retire my vehicle. The first time I showed up I got there at 3:45 and they closed at 4 so they couldn't help me. They said to come back the next day, Sunday. So I go back Sunday and wait like 45 minutes for the guy to check my paperwork only for him to tell me the place that approves the retirement isn't open Sundays.... Why he told me to come back Sunday is still a mystery to me. I go back on Monday and wait an hour for this guy to take his break, check my paperwork again, get approval. Every time a tow truck shows up he takes an additional 20 minutes to check them in. It took so long the other employees took pity on me and brought me a chair to sit on. Eventually I got cashed out but it took so long! The office guy was friendly enough but there was no urgency and he wasted a lot of my time. I'm glad I don't have to go back there anymore. There was a friendly kitty that lives in the parking lot. They told me they feed him scraps of food and that a lady comes by daily and feeds him. I met No Name here from Live 105 a few years back. It was the most random place for him to DJ but there he was - I answer a question on air and win some concert tickets. No joke. Better selection than the Oakland store. Cars seem to be less picked and pulled in general... but I'm sure they have the same policy about how long a car sits on a lot so that might be in my head. Only had one problem here. On a 1996 Taurus the radio isn't as conventional as on many other cars and I got charged for a wrong part as a result. You see with that particular model Ford built it with car radio thieves in mind. The brain of the radio is in the back trunk tucked under the carpet. The "face" or you could think of it as monitor or maybe user interface is inside the car. I bought a new radio and they charged me for an amplifier because apparently some of the cashiers are not car experts and they don't believe a patron. I think dropping a stars for the incompetence of cashiers is generous. I think dropping a second star for them not believing me is also in order. read more

I have not been to a wrecking yard for many years but I needed a taillight lens so I looked on Pic-n-pulls online inventory and found the right care in Newark yard. Their website says $14.95 for a taillight lens. Fine, that's a decent price. But wait, there's more... I get there and they charge $3 for access. It's only 3 bucks, but really? I'm not going out there for entertainment, I'm going to get a part so I can buy it from them. I find the car and it has both tail light lenses. So I got both in case the other one ever gets damaged. I brought both assemblies back to the office as I removed them. With light sockets plugged in. The woman there says that it will be $14.95 extra each because the "tail light boards are attached" like some kind of electronics. I said I don't need them and unplugged the lights sockets. Now all I have are two tail light lenses. Should be 2 x $14.95 plus tax. No, it's $34.95 each. I told her the website says $14.95 for tail light lenses. She says that just for the lens itself. What? You can separate the lens from it's plastic structure, they are a single piece. She says well some can be removed. Maybe in the 1970s when you had individual housing and you could remove the plastic portion from the metal housings with 2 screws. Virtually none have been like that for 30+ years. Alright, I say ok because I really need the one lensI originals came for.. Bit wait---there's more! They add a $7 "environmental fee" to your purchase. For what? I'm not bringing in anything to dispose of, I'm removing something. What a crock. Nickel and Dime. So add on the BS and my purchase total comes to $85.58. $50 more than it should have. It used to be great and the staff will be always willing to help and lately I asked for help to find out if I could interchange a seat that was compatible with my 1998 crewcab (I needed the rear) so I didn't know if they where the same as the front one and the reason that I asked is because I know that there is a system for interchangeable parts and i got send to the expert right!!!! a white guy who didn't check the system he just says no you can't use any other seat from any other car it has to be the exact same and then he tells me that I had to do some fab work and that interchanging parts it's not a thing ( I go thinking is this guy okay does he know anything about cars) and that right there showed me that he is not expert that he doesn't know what he is doing and so I tell him ok what ever you say you are the expert!! and so I did my research had to go back measure the front bench seat and and turns out that it's the same as the front so went back and bought the seat I took it out of a 1992 Cheyenne single cab long bed not fab work required diferent year diferent body style and so picking pull had it yey but I had to pass though an stubborn expert who was lazy on even checking the computer. Pick n pulls are the disneyland for adults that love cars. However places will always have a Karen. This weekend Pick n Pull was having a Memorial day sale of anything half off that you pull. Great, thats a fabulous deal. We pulled a bunch of interior parts and headed to the cashier. Let me tell ya, whatever you do don't get the cashier that has glasses and grey hair. Her name is Linda but she is definitely a Karen! Upon walking up to her counter she already had a BF and decided she needed to come up to inspect the parts we pull. For every door panel we had she charged us for every attachment for it. So for example on our door panel, she charged us for the window switch, door lock switch, and the little ashtray that sits in the door panel. This isn't the first time we've purchased door panels, we have never had to pay for all these "extra" attachments. With the sale we still had to pay $400 for everything we pulled. She ruined the experience for us to not want to come back for a while. But remember if you need something from this junkyard PLEASE do NOT get LINA and wait for the other cashier. read more

My experience with Pick and Pull through Junk my car was awful. Peddle had great customer communication but Pick n pull Newark has zero communication with the tow driver. So Pick and Pull insisted that I had to sit and wait from 8 to 12 so the tow driver could physically witness me signing the title exchange even though the auto shop(HAC) told me they had been giving signed titles to drivers for 18 years. I walked to get there at 8am since my car engine was blown and Ken at HAC in Hayward was kind to let me leave my immovable car on his limited space lot for the almost a week it took for pick and pull to send a tow truck. This morning I called at 7:30am to see if the driver could give me an indication of whether he would be there closer to 8 or 12 so I didn't have to waste my whole day and was told there is no way for them to talk to a driver at all but that the driver would call me when he was on his way and that to call if he wasn't there by 11:30am. I noticed the time at 11:45, still no tow truck so I called pick n pull. After being transferred and ended up creating relationships with people in different departments and call centers, at about 12:15 ( still never getting a call from the driver) I was informing Cecilia and Maxx( good people) at Pick and Pull that Rhonda( Awesome) at Peddle was going to pay extra for my time and at that point felt happy to continue the transaction when the tow driver showed up at about 12:15. The driveway my car was in was small so the AWESOME GUYS at HAC, Ken and Sam, had to move cars out of the way so the tow truck could get to my car. I let him know that I was on the phone with his company so he knew I wasn't just having a random conversation and not paying attention to him. He said "Not MY company" I handed him the unsigned title because there were things he might have needed to fill in and I would sign it in his presence after. He looked at it, handed it back to me and went and sat in his truck. My car couldn't move because the engine was blown so I fully expected him to back his tow truck up and start hooking up my car, all of a sudden he just drove away! I was already on the phone with pick and pull so I asked if they could call him and have him come back and they said" No you have to reschedule for next week. Waaaaat? ! Which they then would have to transfer me to scheduling to do. Oscar, a manager at Pick and Pull implied that I was mean to the driver and that is why he wouldn't come back. According to either Oscar or Artimus, one of the managers, the drivers notes to his company said that I said something about him being late, he apologized and left. That never happened. I was on the phone with Cecelia and I think the conversation was recorded. It was a surprise and shock to me and the people at HAC why he left. I negotiated with Artimus (Art-EE-mus) at Pick and pull who said he was the highest manager possible and would not tell me the name of the tow company they contracted and the very best he could do was start this ridiculous time- wasting process all over again next week with no changes such as tow truck driver contact or pre-signed title. That would be a fools contract for me to say yes to after all I just went through with them. By this time I had been transferred to 5 different people at pick and pull, talked to 10 different people overall and had been on the phone for over two hours negotiating to get them to make it right so I would have an excuse to give them a good review. No such luck. Because Ken at HAC was already nice enough to let me keep my car in his limited space driveway and I did not want to impose upon him for another week for such a ridulous reason. The people in loyalty at Peddle( junk my car) Rhonda, Jake, La Tonya and Austin and Vic ( I got to know them all :) are great but the system broke down between Pick n Pull and the tow company. So if you ever are going to sell your junk car use JMC but tell them you do not want to use Pick and Pull because it will save you a lot of time and headache. It is worth your time to get very slightly less money with someone else. I don't blame hard working people that are caught up in a system that is broken; the communication between pick n pull and the contract tow companys and from those companies to the customer was horrible so I imagine the driver was stressed because the system doesnt work. After this circus I called a local junk yard they said they could pick it up tomorrow. So today should be easy, I will find out today. Update: So I called at 10:15am to confirm and said they cant make it today. I called junk my car back- see the great review at junk my car and copart on yelp tomorrow. This string got too long. So in conclusion same advice: Go through junk my car but not Pick n pull until they can get their dispatch-driver-customer loop under control. read more

They have a computer generated system to offer you a number for the sale of your car. Did not receive much so don't expect too much for wiggle room. Was offered a really low amount but everything was handled very smoothly and quickly compared to Honda Heaven. Would recommend this place if you just want to get rid of a car quick (mine was totaled). If you cannot be there for the tow you will have to go to their office and sign some papers to give them permission to tow without you being present. I believe the alternative would have been the tow truck driver would have brought the paperwork and check to where the vehicle was and everything could have been taken care of there. This place worked for my schedule as I filled out the paperwork and then left to work. The car was later towed and a check was mailed to me (other option would be to pick up the check). read more

PRO: 'Bout the biggest salvage yard I ever been to so far. In addition to literally tons of passenger vehicles, they also have a large selection of trucks, vans, RV's and industry vehicles that you seldom see at other lots. CON: Most of what's out here is pretty well picked clean. I did see money-making potential on several parts that would definitely sell on eBay, but had to bypass the opportunities due to time constraints. For $2 entry fee, it's a heckava' show! Easy to get lost out here, especially the back rows. Be careful and watch for the fast-moving Earth movers rumbling through the yard moving cars & junk around. Get hit by one of those and it's a very BAD day indeed. As an aside, and from an environmental perspective, it was kinda sad to see used oil filters & oil seeping into the standing groundwater in the middle of what looks to be a huge waterfowl & bird wetland. I thought they were supposed to drain the cars of all hazardous fluids? Must've missed a few. Anywhoo, the "roach coach" out front makes some huge, cheap, bomb-a%$ breakfast burritos too. read more

Pretty cool junkyard if you are looking for parts for your vehicle. There is a $2 fee if you want to step into the lot. This is more of a diy place therefore you will need to bring your tools. Don't even bother asking the staff to try and take the part off for you because they will not help you. It is best to look at the website first to see if the car you are trying to part out is available rather than to go directly to the place. The only reason why I am docking three stars is the service is horrible. The workers there do not seem like they want to be there at all. After waiting 30 minutes, the (only) guy working there informed us he will be going on his lunch break and will get to us in an hour or so. We left, and decided to deal with paperwork with the tow truck instead. They gave us a 4 hour window to wait with the car, and 15 minutes after the window ended, they called to say it would be another half hour.
