See, if you're a girl and you go to that other auto parts store - ya know, the one that rhymes with Motto Hone - you're pretty much on your own. You're expected to find the right windshield wiper blade for your car, despite the fact that there's an entire wall devoted to them. Then, you're expected to actually know how to put it on your window. (if you're a girl that has all of this knowledge - more power to ya, sister) Not at O'Reilly. Not only do they have a nifty little computer that helps you match your car's make and model to the correct size blades, the guys behind the counter will actually leave the counter and come put the blades on for you. Or change your blinker light. Or show you where the oil goes vs. where the transmission fluid goes. (they'll also come out in the middle of a rainstorm to check your dead battery, even though your husband is there with you) I'm not saying I don't know cars because I'm a girl, nor am I saying that the employees of O'Reilly are only helping me because I have boobs. I'm just saying that this is the store that goes that extra little step to help a girl out. And that's really all that counts, right?

Now this review is just about the Service and Parts department. The store and sales portion I have…read moreno experience with so I gave it 2 vs. 1 star. It's hard to tell if this Harley Dealer (Stealer) is dishonest or incompetent. I had a minor problem on my bike. The switch which activated my brake light burned out. So I looked at Drag Specialties and found a replacement switch for $17. DS said I could order it from here, so I called and confirmed they would order DS parts for me. When I got there the parts guy (I don't want to name names) said my only option was a HD brand switch which ran $72 with tax. I said, "Wow, that's a lot for a switch doesn't Custom Chrome or DS have a similar part?" He then pretended to look at his catalogs before saying "no" with a straight face. Incompetent or dishonest? Your choice. Needless to say I found an online retailer who sold me the part for $16.51 delivered. When the part arrived I looked up the repair instructions and watched a YouTube vid. Took an expert 16 minutes to do the repair, but it involved soldering. Since I solder about as well as George Bush speaks, I figured I'd pay to have it done. Since I wanted to give the dealership a fair shake I went back to the service department. According to the service department, it would take 1 hour, I mean $95 to have it done. If some random tech on YouTube can do it in less than 20 min, surely a trained HD mechanic can do the job in no more than 30 min, even with some set up time included. So your choice again, incompetent or dishonest? Finally I called up nearby Cowboy Cycles. They told me it would take 30 min and they would work while I waited. So here it is. I got the repair done for $61 including parts. Giving the Harley Dealer every chance to earn my business (and loyalty) the exact same repair would have been $167. So are they dishonest or incompetent? Either way go elsewhere and support the honest hardworking independent shops. In the East Dallas area I recommend Cowboy Cycles or Renegade Cycles both honest & skilled operations.

So i picked it up, and on the way home notice a terrible shake in front, look down and front wheel is now bent, very obvious. Took it back several more times to have corrected, and they refuse to even acknowledge its bent after several friends also rode it and said it was bent. So twice they just tightened down headset so tight that bike rides like crap (no float to put it in technical terms. I am a mechanic as well as expert racer, roadracer in CMRA as well as motocrosser for 40 yrs). I've heard other stories like this now from other people. Run from this place as fast as you can !!!

Finally, a shop that helps me plan/ budget. See reasons why they are now "my place" 1. Got my vehicle back from two planned services - BIG items. The identified problems were FIXED and NO unexpected new issues over the past ~6 mths drive time since the 1st repair was done and ~2 wk since 2nd repair done (but lots of mile - couple of road trips, lol). 2. Their bumper-to-bumper inspection is detailed in a an online report (pics; vids; descriptions). It identifies critical issues (fix now); concerns (fix to prevent bigger issues); consider (future items). The report helped me to plan/ budget the repairs. 3. After asking for the full report, they provided even though they knew I might have sticker shock which I did. They patiently walked me through and answered my many questions via the phone, and let me take time to decide on options: keep/invest or trade in. The report allowed me to consider new vehicle (prices/longterm commitment) vs. the one-time fixes. With a shop that truly fixes the problem and no unexpected new problems, am keeping my baby; well that and she is fun to drive, lol. 4. The online report/ front office staff (Connor; Averie) are able to keep up with my extremely busy work schedule; are genuinely professionally patient with a non-mechanical person (me); if they didnt know the answers they asked the mechanics and got back to me quickly which provided insights on the repair options and then let me decide what works for me/ my budget/ my future plans. ...Again, this shop is now "my place".
