IF YOU DRIVE A GERMAN CAR, STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE…read more They messed up my oil change on my 14' Passat TSI and when my car broke down immediately after, they wouldn't take responsibility for it. I had it towed back there, they tried to fix it, but the damage was already done. They had their 'specialist' look at it the next day, and he called me coming up with excuses such as "oh you had multiple leaks" (as if those multiple leaks weren't caused by an increase in oil pressure when the filter was put on wrong), "oh your PCV valve was clogged. Mind you I live in Plantation, which is about 80 miles away. No way catastrophic damage like that occurs from a 15 dollar part. And if so, it should have happened when I was driving at high speeds the night before, not AFTER my car was serviced. I've had diagnostics run multiple times through a local shop AND my local VW dealership's service team. No such issue was ever even brought up. Their senior tech, Nick was talking down to me like I was an idiot, so I called customer service, they link me to ths guy named Mike, who concurred with Nick, but offered to have a third party adjuster inspect the vehicle, but could not give me a definitive time for said adjuster to arrive... Since they gave me the runaround with no clear timeline, of action, I towed my car to my usual AAMCO location who also determined that Pep Boys was at fault. Therefore, "Res Ispa Loquitor" applies, and I will be suing these people. This is a travesty, and the fact these people keep insulting my intelligence shows what kind of people operate within this company. My car worked just fine before taking it in, and now no longer works, currently needing a brand new engine. These people took my money, my time, my car, and my livelihood. I will NOT stop until this is rectified. DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE EVER!!!!

So last week I'm driving from Fort Lauderdale to Jupiter and stopped off I-95 for diesel and while…read moreat the pump I thought to switch tunes because the performance tune I was running had me thinking the shift from 2-3rd gear was possibly too hard. Well during the upload I accidentally unplug the Tuner which is a super no-no. My truck was now completely locked up as the ECM was not loaded with either stock FORD or tuner software. After 40 minutes at the pump trying everything to possibly reset my ECM like taking the battery connections off a guy with a performance diesel drive up for fuel and asked me what was wrong as my hood was up and obvious I was having problems. He told me he was from Jupiter and once learning I was living in Jupiter as well we suggested PELA as he had great service from them on multiple upgrades to his 2500. Well it was 4:30pm on a Friday and PELA took pity on me saying if I got my truck towed there by Sunday they would look at it first thing Monday as they were booked up for 5+ weeks that was awesome. When I towed the truck to PELA that Friday night it was completely believable they are 5+ weeks out as there were 20-30 heavily modified $100,000+ trucks waiting in their back lot that's electrified fenced, barbed wired and plenty of security cameras. Well Monday morning I get a call at 10:30 telling me they were able to communicate with the ECM and reload the original program and got my tuner set back up again for $250 for 2.5 hours of work. See, this easily could have been a $1500-2000 job without question. A new ECM with a FORD original software with matching VIN and odometer is easily $800 then the installation, trouble shooting and finalizing. A shop could easily take me over the coals and I would never know the better. The fact PELA had the skilled techs to diagnose and properly communicate with my truck ECM without formatting it alone says a lot about their business ethics and skills, pushing the wrong button on a diagnostic tool can fry things fast. When I arrived I dealt with 2 PELA employees that were friendly and professional and quickly answered my questions about the problem and how to avoid future problems. I've been to many performance shops along the east coast and I was blown away by the overall experience
