Bottom Line: Advanced Auto Parts does NOT have a real-time inventory system and they intentionally say they have a product in the store when they really have NO clue. NONE. Before you ever buy online it is best to call a store and ask them to confirm it is in stock otherwise you will waste hours and hours of your day and come away empty handed and then have to deal with refund BS. Their site and inventory system is not reliable.

And the area behind the counter with the specialty items retrieved by the counter staff always seems to have what I need. As an added bonus, they somehow manage to keep the parking lot clean, despite what I assume is an ongoing group of amateur mechanics leaving their used parts and packaging behind.

I immediately drove to First Choice to ask their advice. Eric dropped what he was doing, and hooked up a diagnostic tool to the truck. It showed an oxygen sensor error. Right then and there, he could have said make an appointment; you need a new one. Instead, he said that it was rare for them to fail. He cleared the error code from the truck, and told me to drive it for an hour or so, and go get it tested again. I followed his advice, and it worked! First Choice did not charge me a penny, and the solution was simple, straight forward, and took little time. I've had other instances where these guys have really bailed me out over the years, and I won't have my vehicles serviced anywhere else. If you want it fixed correctly the first time, this is the shop to do the job.

They offer complementary tire rotations with the oil change service which I thought was nice. They did it the first time, but not the second time. I even confirmed THREE times that they were going to rotate the tires and they still didn't do it. I was taught to mark my tires so that I can confirm whether they were rotated are not. That leaves a reallly bad taste in my mouth. Don't offer something if you're not gonna do it. I thought about calling the business about the issue, but I imagine they would ask me back in to do the rotation and maybe some tech would get in trouble for not doing it in the first place and now he's upset, so I don't want my car to be in their hands again. I work in customer service, I know how people can be. Places to get an oil change are on every corner and now I will consider other places if and when my car needs attention.

Having lived in Happy Valley for nearly 15 years, the Firestone on 82nd Ave had always been my…read moretrusted spot for automotive care. Even after moving about 30 minutes away, that location remained top of mind. But for convenience, I recently decided to try a Firestone closer to my new home--and quickly realized it was a decision I'd come to regret. I brought my vehicle in because I was experiencing a pulsation in the brakes and steering wheel whenever I applied the brakes at highway speeds. After doing some research, I learned that a misalignment could be contributing to the issue. Since I had a lifetime alignment package with Firestone, I brought it to the closer location, hoping for a quick and professional fix. While that location completed the alignment, they unfortunately damaged the manufacturer's skid plate while taking the car off the ramp, and blamed my aftermarket wheels for having lower ground clearance. After some back and forth, they agreed to replace the skid plate at no cost--but I made it clear I preferred to have the work completed at the Happy Valley location instead. Not feeling confident in the other store, I contacted the Happy Valley team and spoke with the store manager, Leeanne. She immediately offered to coordinate everything with the other location so all I had to do was bring in my vehicle. I even received a call from their General Manager, Chris, who explained that while an alignment wouldn't solve the pulsation issue, he knew exactly what was causing it and would have it addressed. At my appointment, Service Manager Aaron welcomed me and reassured me that only his lead technician would be working on the vehicle. While the service took most of the day, I was kept updated throughout. It was clear they understood how frustrated I was and were doing everything they could to make things right. It's been a few weeks since the visit, and I'm happy to report that not only did the Happy Valley team fix what the other location had mishandled--they also resolved the pulsation issue entirely. I'm incredibly grateful for their professionalism, transparency, and dedication to restoring my trust.

This is the first time I've ever written a bad review. After…read more1300 dollars spent my car is running worse. They misdiagnosed the issue and were wanting me to spend another 700 to fix wrong problem. Here is what happened. Car was running rough for about a yr. I'm disabled and grieving my only child passing away and had not been able to afford the work. So I just drove gently. I finally was able to save up some money. Well 1300 dollars worth of work later (more than the car is even worth and more than I could even afford-had to borrow money) ... after spending 1300 on crankshaft sensor and egnition misfire sensor and new spark plugs.... the car was running waaaaay worse than when I brought it in. I was then told they were absolutely certain it was the fuel injectors and I could pay them another 700+dollars to fix that. At this point I'm in debt and I've never had a car get worse after 1300 dollars of work done. The engine was loud, the car shaking, it was spitting smoke and stalled for the first time in the 10 yrs I've had it in the middle of traffic a few blocks away from the shop. So at this point I say I want a second opinion. Andy's charges 180/hr which is well above the average 150/hr average rate in Oregon. So I took my car to Maxim Automotive which has 149- 5 star reviews as being a very HONEST mechanic. He takes the engine apart to diagnose it. Only charges me 200 dollars (Andy's wanted to charge 500 for the same level of labor) and at maxim... he swaps good injector into the 1and 3 cylinder and they still aren't speaking to the engine when he does the balance test and electronically turns the cylinders on and off. He then finds that the wires are melted going to the injectors. He does a quick fix on that to see if it changes anything and the engine still isnt speaking to the perfectly good injectors. So he has now effectively done a proper diagnosis and it's clear that the injectors ARE NOT THE PROBLEM. The wires and ECU computer got fried. I would have thrown 700 on new injectors plus labor down the drain as they played guesswork and misdiagnosed the issue...when they knew I was on disability and a budget and now in debt. I was in tears I'm the shop. Plus the mechanic at Maxim found that when they put my intake manifold back on that there were several screws missing. They never told me at Andy's about missing screws... and it's still very strange that the car got soooo much worse after I spent 1300 at Andy's. And they wanted me to spend 700 more on the wrong part. They never really officially diagnosed it at Andy's... it was all just guess work. I am very disappointed that I spent 1300 dollars and the problem I wanted to address (the running rough) never got resolved and is now worse for some odd reason. A new ecu and wires for the car is easily another 2000+dollars... and the vehicle isnt worth that much. So at this point i have to cut my losses and figure out what I'm going to do. Maybe get the correct ECU & wires from the pick & pull and see if I can get a mechanic to put that in. We'll see. This was a very bad experience.

The customer waiting area was pretty packed when I took my car in for service this week. It's fairly comfortable and is kept clean. They have filtered water and a coffee machine that makes a variety of hot drinks (coffee, latte, hot chocolate, tea...) and a few snacks to offer. I appreciated the heads up from my service representative, that they were running just a little behind so the wait might be longer than I'd planned, but they were able to finish the maintenance on my car within an hour and a half, so it worked out well.
