When I went, they were offing a bucket discount, which I've never seen before. Buy a bucket, and anything you can cram in there is 15% off. Sounds pretty good if you're shopping small parts! My only problem with this AAP is the location. It's not on a corner like most of the other ones, so it's not as easy to get to.

Told them I was waiting for bore diameter to order new performance pistons. "Danny" said "we can order them for you and save you some bucks". Great...but I was NOT consulted on pistons selected. Piston parts numbers showed $200 for set of Summit pistons that was marked up $100 on bill. Crank was to be polished but was told new crank would be cheaper. Bill still showed crank polish for $300. Was told it was for my benefit to avoid tax. I was not advised on crank selection. My short block turned into a long block. Was told to bring in my heads for installation. Purchased them already surfaced. Guess who got charged $300 per head to be surfaced on top of valve job for $250...not 1 call for authorization. I found this when I went in days before pick up. A $900 estimate ended up at $3000. Mission Auto Parts and Machine Shop should be last place anyone should go.

I have a 28 year old 4Runner and the sunroof cables finally rusted up inside the channels after we moved back from D.C. 5 years ago. I have made phone calls and asked mechanics if they could fix it for the last 3 years and I get told that only a body shop will do that, body shops inevitably tell me they don't do that, try an auto glass place, and all of them say "Nope, we don't mess with sunroofs." Having a full time job, I kind of gave up on ever getting it fixed. However, I also have a mechanically-inclined brother who, bless his heart, said he could help me fix it, took it all apart one weekend and then left me with an un-drivable car for 6 weeks. My husband, in an epic Google deep dive, found Texas Auto Accessories and called Jay. I know cars and I know car guys, Jay must have an encyclopedic memory of every sunroof configuration ever produced. He takes mine apart, finds the rust, immediately tracks down one from a parts yard, I go pick it up and then he treks out to my house to install it. Who does that?? Jay does. I can't recommend him highly enough. He also installed some interior insulation I had bought while the headliner was out. He even said he'd be happy to install some new speakers in it as well when I decide I want to replace the blown one.

There are so many reasons not to take your vehicle to this shop. They perform repairs without…read moreauthorization or approval and never call to provide updates. If they find additional issues beyond what you brought the vehicle in for, they proceed without asking for your consent or explaining the costs. The original problem is never actually fixed, yet they claim to have repaired something completely unrelated -- something that was never an issue to begin with. You'll likely have to bring your car back multiple times for the same problem, and it still won't be resolved. They screen calls using caller ID and avoid answering when you're trying to get updates or clarification. My vehicle was returned with new damage that did not exist before service, and they refused to take responsibility. To make matters worse, they charged for repairs related to error codes that never existed and quoted problems that were not real prior to bringing the car in. In short, they take your money without fixing the issue and often create new ones in the process. I would mention names, but they know who they are. I now have to file insurance claims for damages caused by the shop -- damages completely unrelated to my original repair request -- in addition to already having made police reports and other formal claims. Alex plays games on the phone, and no one at the shop provides real updates about your vehicle. They claim "Edgar will call you back," but he never does. It's also worth noting that they appear to use a service that blocks phone calls from being recorded, in addition to using caller ID to avoid accountability. Always ask for an itemized receipt of all repairs and damages they claim to have found or fixed. Obtain written authorization and a signed estimate before allowing them to perform any repairs. Do not let them start work without your explicit consent in writing.

This one doesn't seem to. I came on May 16th to have my 2 year old worn out Michelins replaced. Rain had been forecasted, but it wasn't too bad. About 15 minutes into waiting for my appointment, a torrential downpour starts along with bad thunder and lightning. The way these garages are designed, there is no shelter from the elements. The downpour started and the poor serviceman came out and I thought he was going to tell me he couldn't do it without power. No, instead of saying no, he said he could still do it with hand tools and floor jacks instead. Good can-do attitude rather than turn me away. So there they worked, in the downpour, completely unfazed by the weather and got me in and out before my lunch break was over. Great service! I would recommend coming here and I will come here for my other car's tire needs!
