Staff was very friendly. Took my car in for an alignment checkup because it was vibrating as I drove. After check up they determined it was within tolerances. They told me I could get it aligned but it wasnt as bad to warrant it aligned. I explained the symptoms and tech said he could look further into what could be causing the issues. Him and I assume a senior mechanic determined the issue was cause by my motor supports. They showed me. Brought car in for control arm and sway bar link replacement. I was told I need brakes. Replaced that too. Four days later, heard loud knocking noise from underneath, took car in again, this time I was told I need to replace tie rods, knocking noise had nothing to do with control arm. Replaced that. Drove over railroad tracks on my way to dinner, heard a loud clanking noise from the front, something metal had fallen off. Came back to the scene after dinner, found a mangled hood support rod that was missing from my car. My car is not the same. Noises coming from front tires when I brake whereas there were none before. Mechanic work is very shoddy to say the least. The kicker is they automatically charge the extended labor warranty on ALL service without consent or authorization and they will not refund me even though there's a 30 day full refund on the contract. They have been giving me the runaround since day one of trying to warranty refunded. I've stopped by the shop, called service administrator, corporate to no avail. Beware. Check your bills. I will NEVER use Pep Boys again. Expensive lesson learned. read more

They almost killed me. Had made a reservation on a Friday night for a wheel alignment and oil change on my F150. Brought my truck in at the scheduled time only to find out that they were several hours behind schedule. I chose to wait. Waiting area was ok, A/C was nice, not a bad environment, I'll give them that. When it came time to have my vehicle serviced, they lifted it and came back to tell me they were refusing to do the alignment because the ball joints were bad. (They weren't that bad, but ok.) They remarked that my brake pads looked good, which I knew because I had just done the brakes and rotors myself earlier that week. I wasn't asking them to touch my brakes AT ALL. Got my truck back, and on the ride home I noticed a harsh grinding sound coming from the wheel. Arrived home, jacked my truck up and took the wheel off, only to find THE CALIPER FLOPPED BACK RUBBING AGAINST THE INSIDE OF THE WHEEL. They had either NOT installed the caliper bolt back on or had not tightened it at all ruining both my wheel and caliper and putting my life at risk! Luckily it was only a two mile drive home. Again, I was NOT THERE FOR BRAKE SERVICE, but they removed my brake caliper and then did not reinstall it correctly creating a life threatening situation! read more

Rip off. I went in for a wheel alignment and was told my brake pads and rotors were in need of repair pretty much immediately. They sat me down and talked to me about their measurements and everything and quoted me $1100 to replace front and back brake pads and rotors. My dad was in town and said he could do it if they really needed it. So I went to autozone right after to get the parts and went home to check out just how bad my brakes were. See picture for what my brake pad looked like compared to a brand new one. It still has half its life in it! So tired of greedy mechanics trying to take advantage of people. Charged me $300 for a part to be installed but put a cheap part on a piece that can make or break the vehicle. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. I asked to speak to the new store manager and he of course hid behind the verbiage like many of these places do.. Never again. I will never step foot in another pep boys and I honestly hope this location closes sooner than later because inexperience means those that use this shop will be out hundreds of dollars like i was. Previous review: I go in a Sunday for an oil change and the guy at the counter is rude. I was hoping based off the yelp reviews that this would be a good experience.. Man was I wrong. 35 minute eta on oil change turned into 1+ hour without any updates. After work was complete the guy at the desk tells me I need new shocks (funny thing though they were replaced less than 6,000 miles ago. I have tried to go to this place on two separate occasions for an inspection sticker about 6 months apart. It SAYS it's an official inspection station, but the two times I went I was turned away because they "don't have inspection stickers". Seriously? An inspection station without inspection stickers? Had a bit of a battery issue up in San Marcos, our battery completely failed on us after stopping for 10 minutes to grab some coffee. We still were under warranty w Pep Boys (where we bought the battery) but the nearest pep boys was 35 minutes south. Obviously not a fun way to start the day but we needed to tackle this problem before we could carry on.. so we got a jump start and travelled south to the Nacogdoches location where we met Sebastian. He greeted us right away and was very friendly! He helped us get the battery swapped out and replaced under warranty and apparently the model we had was no longer available so we ended up swapping out with a newer better version at a small expense to us! Horrible service!!! Went in because my front tire was coming apart and all other places were already closed. They put 2 "new" tires on my car. When I got my car back the white mounting paste was all over the tires. When I got in, the tire sensor read 1 psi in the front right tire. I called the attention of service technician and told him something wasn't right and told him about the sensor. He said he put air in it it is fine, I could leave. I said but it says 1 psi... he said it's fine go. So I did. It didn't sound right as I was leaving, but thought well he said it was fine. Next morning I am driving on 1604 exit ramp to 281 and my tire blows. Yes! The same tire I questioned. The Assistant Manager was very helpful in trying to fix the issue. It took all day! I finally went up there and also told him to check the front left as well because I noticed a chunk missing from along the rim. He put two mor new tires on, but the tire sensor was lost during all of this. So a new on was supposed to be ordered. A few days pass and no call so I go in to get the new sensor. The Manager Tony was there said no new sensor was ordered and proceeded to tell me it looked like I hit a pot hole and that's why the tire blew. I said I did not hit a pot hole. When I got mad he tried to say I didn't blame you. I said you just did. They finally put the sensor on, but could not calibrate it because they didn't have the right tool. Sent me to Discount Tire who calibrated it free of charge after all I had been through, but did tell me they should have replaced all of the sensors because you aren't supposed to put a new one in with the old ones. He also said to go through the air check line because the tires are not evenly aired. Do NOT go to the Pep Boys on Nacogdoches!!!! I wish I could leave negative stars for the money and time I lost due to their negligence!!!! read more

I may be a woman and not understand mechanics, but I understand when something is just too much. I recently went to pep boys for a brake job. On the phone I was told the average brake job was about $190.00, a figure I could live with. I left my car there for them to inspect, expecting a call back within the hour. When the call came with a $700.00 price tag I almost fainted! I told them "No, put it back together and I will pick it up". He actually sounded disappointed. We hung up and I got a ride to get it. Before I got there I get a call from them saying they could work with me and bring the price down to $300. From $700 to $300. When I said no the guy on the phone threatened to call the DMV and tell them I was going to drive an unsafe vehicle off their lot. How dare they threaten someone who wouldn't pay their price!!! I got it fixed the next day for $100.00 by a very reputable mechanic who wasn't in the business of taking people to the cleaners. Boo to you pep boys. Well this settles it. This is the last time I visit a pep-boys... Not only did their walzem location misdiagnose a broken timing belt and charge me out the ass for parts that didn't need replacing and after I TOLD THEM it was the timing belt. I made an appointment on Sunday at pep boys nacodoches for 9am today. And let them know it was a time sensitive job. I even did all the diagnoses my self to save time. All that needs to be done is 1 strut replacement. What should only take an hour and a half. I got here at 845 the strut just now arrived. When it should have already been delivered. It's taking all my patience not to scream at these idiots. If you need work done to ur car ur better off driving full throttle into a wall rather than take it to this company. Okay, so last time I went to Pep Boys was almost exactly one year ago. So, why am I writing now? Well, my car started acting up again...doing the exact same thing it was doing before (gas not getting to the engine, basically not accelerating). So I gave them a call to see what kind of warranty they provided. I was told that the warranty was for 90 days following the repair for the replacement part. I told him that the part had worked fine for the 8 years that I had the car before needing a replacement, so I really didn't understand why it would break again in less than one year. He said he understood where I was coming from and asked if I was going to bring it back. I told him I would think about it, but ultimately decided no way. It's really hard to be a girl who needs auto repairs done because, and yes they did do this here, the mechanics will always tell you that you need extra work done that is essentially not necessary. The new tire they put on was slowly leaking air. I brought it back two months later to get it fixed under warranty. In the morning, the guy at the counter set me up with an appointment in the afternoon at 2pm. I came back at 2 and ended up walking around for nearly 4 hours. They didn't even start on the car until 4:30. What was the point of the appointment? When we finally returned, he told my wife the tire was fine and that the pressure sensor was broken. This was incorrect as I had been gauging and refilling it every week for two months and the pressures matched. I went in separately and told him this to which he responded without hesitation that it had a nail in it. I don't know why he felt the need to lie to me, or to her, or both of us, but it could be that they broke it on purpose just to get money out of the ordeal since I would now have to pay to replace it. They were going to charge $153 for the replacement. The part costs $50. I'd rather pay someone else to fix their mess. Save yourself the trouble and don't go here for service. I wish I could give this place zero stars. They are so lazy, I went there for an ac check and asked them to look at the fans because they're not spinning & my ac is not blowing cold air. They said they would and it was suppose to be a free ac check. Well I ended up getting charged $60 for the ac check and they didn't even look at the fans like I asked!?! They said I had a leak in one of my hoses and wanted to charge me almost $400 after they ordered the part which I would have to wait 4 days for. I immediately left and went to another place. USA motors did the Hose repair & ac charge up for around $200 and replaced my broken fan (that pep boys didn't even care to look at for me) for only $195, I'm scared to even think what pep boys would have tried to charge me for it! & then to top it all off my dad had a pepboys rewards card which have him a free flat repair. He had a nail in his tire so he took it up there to get it fixed under his rewards card... Well of course they wouldn't do it!?! they said it was an internal puncture or some BS like that and that it was irreparable, & that he would have to buy a new tire. Well he took it to a tire shop for a second opinion and when he told them what pepboys said the shop owner said "wow, they're f***ing lazy! This can be repaired no problem". The tire shop fixed it with no trouble at all.... He just bought those truck tires a week ago as well so it would have been horrible to buy brand new tires and already have to buy another brand new one a week later!?! I'm sure pepboys would have loved to sell him one of their over priced tired and charge him an arm and a leg to put it on. So glad he decided to go for a second opinion somewhere else. These people are lazy and WAY overcharge compared to other auto shops. I suggest you stay far far away unless you feel like getting ripped off, I'll never step foot in a pepboys again!! read more
