After picking up my car that Friday, I headed to the Biltmore for the weekend. While climbing the mountain, my car went into limp mode, slowing down to 35 mph and refusing to go any faster. The check engine light came on, and the engine started making strange noises. Concerned that the dealership hadn't put enough oil in the engine, I managed to drive it to an O'Reilly Auto Parts store. To my surprise, it turned out that the technician at Bob King Hyundai had actually overfilled the engine by more than two extra quarts, which caused the crank to float. I stopped by the Hyundai dealership in Asheville, NC, where they confirmed that the technician had indeed put in too much oil after draining and measuring it. Unfortunately, the engine was ruined, and I chose to get a new vehicle rather than replace the engine, which would have lowered my car's resale value. Despite this issue, I continued to trust Bob King Hyundai because Matt, the service manager, assured me that they had let the technician go and that he would look out for me moving forward. However, on July 7, 2026, my new car went in for an oil change and to address some other issues. They didn't finish working on my car until July 10, 2026. When I picked it up that Friday afternoon, I checked the oil level the next morning, as I always do, and noticed that the oil was still black. It became clear that the oil had never been changed (see pictures). Additionally, the interior of my car required detailed cleaning because the technician had left greasy handprints everywhere (see pictures). To make matters worse, they are now trying to invoice me $180.00 for the rental of their loaner car! New buyers, beware! I try to be a patient and understanding person, but this last visit is where I draw the line. I do not recommend this dealership; I wouldn't even trust them to grease the chain on my bicycle. I will never return, and they will never touch my vehicle again! I plan to go to another Hyundai dealer for my service needs.
