This was the closest nail salon to the Microtel I was staying at during my trip. There are several bad reviews but I decided to check out this place for myself. As a small business owner I know how harsh clients can be so I was curious to get my own perspective. I have to say that it was one of the best pedicures I've received! The owner Linda did a pins colada pedicure with this really cool looking get that was heated. I got a massage with hot stones on my legs and it was sooo relaxing I started nodding off! I was very happy with my pedi and asked for a basic mani as well. The owners and staff were all friendly and very welcoming. I was offered water. This seems like a sweet mom and pop business. There's a lot to unpack here, I'll be blunt. Gift card for $50, chose the deluxe pedicure. My nail tech was a clearly in training, needed assistance in almost every step of the way, that's fine. She kept staring at me though. An hour went by and my nails still weren't painted. Whole pedicure supposed to be 45-50 min or so & I needed to pick up my kiddos soon. A male tech stepped in as the training tech watched on. He rushed through the last bit of exfoliation/lotion step, and told me a THIRD tech would be right over for the polish. Third tech arrives and is slapping the layers of polish on, because her next client has just sat down next to me and is essentially staring at all of us waiting for her turn. First in-training tech takes over for the final, clear top coat. It's smeared on a bunch of edges. She uses a small paintbrush dipped in whatever to remove any polish from my skin, but swipes the sides of several nails while doing so. I am then brought to a UV nail drying table and am told to have a seat. 20 minutes goes by - I really need to go get the kids. I didn't know who the heck was helping me at that point, but figured someone would come get me when the polish was dry?! I eventually got up, asked the guy to help me. My nails look like crap, I 100% could have done a better job myself. read more

So, my friends and I have an NYC trip planned in two days and an escape room booked for later today. The room is a two hour drive and we had to be there in 4 hours. We thought a simple manicure for them would be a great way to pass time. You know, maybe an hour would go by quickly. NOPE. NOT AN HOUR. Nearly 3... for the crumby nail job you see in the pictures below. Let's start from the beginning; We wake up, call around to find nail places and most places are closed on Sundays. We call this place (Autumn nail) that's listed as open on google. And their phone rang for a while. So they might've been busy, benefit of the doubt. Bla bla bla. So we drive down there to see all three employees talking by the other phone that is STILL ringing. They deadpanned to us and said "what do you want?" And my friend's explained what's they wanted. And the workers REFUSED to do gel or any polish. They'd only work on my friends if they agreed to do powder. One of my friends wanted ombré of 2 pastel colors and the guy said "we can't do that, it's glow in the dark" and she asked if he could use non-glow colors. He said "solid colors only". So she chose a blue. And at this point, my friends were annoyed already but we were like "fine okay we'll just deal with it.". These people sawed into my friends like they don't care. (Because they don't) and the counters and dip containers were very dirty and made my friends worry about infections. I don't trust this grimy place with sketchy people. And then they have the audacity to charge us $50 per person AND ask for a tip. Y'all don't even deserve the $50. disrespectful read more

I went into Autumn Nails with two of my girlfriends. They both got gel manicures while I opted for the regular manicure. The nail tech gave me a little grief for not getting the gel manicure, and I was about to find out why. Halfway through my session, a woman came in complaining that her acrylics were beginning to lift. The tech doing my nails agreed to fix them, but started to rush through my second coat of paint and top coat. The tips of my nails were a little rough which I thought was due to the quick application. Within 24 hours my nails were chipped on three fingers. I'm not sure if it was old paint that they used or just lack of patience in application, but I was seriously disappointed. Both girls I went with had a great experience, so I'd give this place another chance but only with gels. My recommendation is to go somewhere else like Nail Spa in Waterford where you get a whole lot more of a spa experience for only $3 more. No forearm or hot stone massage, and not much attention to detail at this location. read more

I went here for an sns manicure and the girl had NO idea what she was doing. I was also cut on almost every single finger. Probably the most painful nail experience I've ever had and I asked for almond shape (which is what I had when I walked in, and said I just wanted them the same shape by shorter) and got round. My best friend showed up for manicures and pedicures. There was only one person receiving a pedicure while we waited to get started. It was disappointing that it took almost 2.5 hours for us to be serviced. I'm addition, I received a poor job on my dip manicure. It is bubbly on many of my nails in addition my cuticles were bleeding while the drill was used on them. Needless to say we won't be returning to this location ever again. read more

The Vietnamese folks here are genuinely friendly and nice, but the service is so-so at best and overpriced. I went today, but it will be my last time: I specifically asked that they remove my UV-gel nails before giving me a pedicure, and the man nodded. When I returned from the restroom, I saw a woman setting up a pedicure chair, so I mentioned my request to the man again, who was now fiddling with his iPhone near the back. Again he just nodded, "sure, sure!" And the woman tried to get me to sit, when, again, I insisted. Finally caving in, the man patiently and gently removed my nails from one hand, but he lost his patience on the other and suddenly tried to rip off one of the gel fills on my pinky. Then I insisted that he not rip up my nails. He didn't take too kindly to this, and shortly thereafter nicked me with the grinder machine. That hurt. Then, he ushered me to the pedicure chair, and I thought we were finished, but to my dismay he came back over and put a full bowl of scalding hot water in my lap so he could finish this while she did my pedicure. Not my intention -- I had wanted to relax as part of the pedicure, no? As the woman asked me to switch feet, boiling hot water kept splashing out of the bowl into my lap, and the man did a haphazard job doing a manicure -- which I hadn't requested (and they later charged for. The clear polish is now peeling off the sides of some of my nails -- and this is the same day!). Then, he tried to get me to do shellac polish, which I politely declined. Then he tried again. And again. On the third time, I was pretty peeved. Meanwhile, they gave me an apparent trainee for my pedicure, who rushed through the job, failing to fully trim down the nails and not even bothering to use the emery board to smooth the jagged edges. The paint job is dismal, with paint on the surrounding skin on several toes. As if all of this wasn't enough, when I cashed out, the woman jumped up from a current pedicure, her rubber-gloved hands covered in a yellow, smelly goop, and proceeded to handle my debit card, receipt (which got several sticky blobs on it), and the pen she handed me. Needless to say, I got someone else's toe stuff all over my hands, so I excused myself to use their sinks after I paid. Gross. (Now that's a rare exception that I've never experienced before today.) In general, and in recent experiences, I find that they rush the jobs -- so much that last time they moved me straight from the pedicure to the manicure, and while sitting in that chair, my toes got damaged -- although I didn't realize until I got home. So last time was a waste, too. I realize much of this must sound superficial -- they are only nails, yes? -- but it is a rather expensive service and, as such, should at least be worth the cost. Here, it is not. Do yourself a favor and find a nicer place than this -- a place that gives you the service you pay for. Update, 2014: If you're looking for a good alternative for pedicures, I would recommend Pink Love in Uncasville, but you *have to* make an appointment. She only does one appointment at a time. I have a separate review written up. Also, I should have mentioned that I have been to nail salons around the country, including in the midwest and in San Francisco, and my experience at this shop was the worst. The costs were comparable in the other states. I personally feel it is expensive, and thus I want it to be worth my money. read more

I have been to Autumn Nails three times. None have been anything to write home about, but none have been terrible either. This time, I had a reservation for 5:45 pm with a coworker. She likes going there, and I'm impartial about the nail salons around here, so I agreed. She was already started, but I came in probably 3 minutes late, so that was fine. When I walked in, the tech that would be taking care of me was working on someone else, so I had about a 10-minute wait, which I spent sitting next to my friend chatting. When I finally found a color (I'm very picky about that), the younger, good-looking man took care of me. He was very personable and kind. We had a lot in common and he was very easy to talk to- a great trait in the customer service industry. My nails came out alright- he did not fully take off my (red) polish around the edges before putting on the (yellow) shellac, and the gel runs off onto my fingers at the ends of the really short nails. In all, it was a good experience. Not the best I've had, but definitely not the worst. read more

I am surprised at all the poor reviews of Autumn nails. I went today for a pedicure (my first in years) and I was pleasantly surprised. My technician was Wendy and she was extremely friendly and very thorough. I picked a rejuvination package because I have never been here before and they had a lot of options. The package included a salt scrub for my feet and legs, a hot wax treatment, a hot stone leg massage and moisturizing treatment. I was very pleased. She spent so much time paying attention to every detail and the results show! I got French polish and she gave me a nice design as well. I am always very scared of getting a pedicure because I got a very serious staph infection from a place before that I was told was very reputable. But it was very clean here (they use a new liner for the spa baths after each person). I was also offered water or soda- which was a very nice gesture. Definitely coming back here to get a manicure (I just did not have enough time). The only reason it is not 5 stars is that it was a little pricey. I paid 67$ for everything-- but then again she spent almost 90 minutes doing everything for me! So in theory, it was worth it. read more

I have NEVER complained about my nails or anything actually customer- service wise. Today was a different story. I called yesterday requesting and appointment with Christine who 3 weeks ago had done an EXCELLENT job on my nails - pink and white in particular. I was told she no longer works there (not shocking as i was told that my favorites Monica and Billy had recently left for personal reasons) but was told that someone could do pink and white fill just the same. I decided to give them yet another shot. Mind you, I have been going there for 4+ years. So, I arrived at 10am as requested- and was greeted very kindly by 2 men, one claiming to be the new "manager". I had never seen this person before and he was doing my nails... OK. He started by asking me if I wanted a small cut down and I said yes. So he proceeded to them take all the gel off my nails missing SEVERAL steps in the gel nail process ( I know this because I've been getting them done for AGES). I very very quickly realized that he didn't know how to do pink and white nails at all and they were looking mainly GREY and bumpy. I became upset. I asked him to stop and have someone else proceed. He insisted to continue to the end when I already knew they were NOT looking at all the way I wanted them to. Needless to say, I left the salon almost in tears, spending an hour and a half in a chair and getting completely botched nails. Luckily I was told I didn't have to pay. If you CANT do something or don't know how, PLEASE do not do it. I will attach pictures of my nails 3 weeks ago after Christine did them, and today after my fill. I will not return. It's a shame the talent of the salon has left the building. read more

This place I would not recommend again! I went here just to get a full set of acrylics, and they turned out very bad. The guy that was doing them made it one of my cuticles bleed and once he put the polish on it was very splotchy and not opaque, therefore it was see through. Also, my acrylics were crooked and not filed to my liking. The waiting time was more than an hour! Ridiculous! I would not pay another $30 to get my nails done again from this place! First pedicure. Was pretty good. My feet are still calloused which is disappointing as I'm pregnant and can't really do much about it myself. The color selection for the regular polish was limited, I wanted a teal but they mostly had pinks. Went with the gel, it dried really quick! I have been going to this salon for years now. I quickley learned who to see and who not to. I made an appointment with the owner for the next day and when I showed up for the appointment was told someone else would be doing my service. The man didnt speak a lick of english so I failed at telling him what i wanted and didnt. I was talked into getting the vitamin gel polish that didnt last an hour. My appointment was for 5 I was out by 530 and by 630 the gel bubbled and came off like they had painted my nails with Elmer's glue. Never again. read more

I paid 27.00 dollars for a pedicure, that is expensive for Uncasville. If you pay cash you don't have to pay tax, and if you use you credit card you have to pay tax. I don't think that's legal??? The woman who did my pedicure was very nice, but she was to busy talking to her coworker in her own language....rude! And my toes look like I did them my self. Ugh... I will not return! read more

Nope. Don't go here. I went here twice. The first time they did an ok job. The only reason I deviated from my regular place is because they are always SO busy I just didn't feel like waiting. (They're busy because they're good, Ill name drop them at the end) My first experience was ok. I got a gel manicure with a cool magnet paint. I didn't realize it was color changing polish as well until I left. I ended up hating the color it was when I was warm but whatever, not really their fault. Second experience I walked in and they looked pretty busy. I was told in 5 minute intervals they would be right with me and it would be another 5 mins. That was for at least 40 minutes. At least at my regular salon they literally tell you they have no time so you don't sit there getting irritated. Anyways, finally I sat down and she eventually starts to do my nails and she went FAST. The bottom coat and top coat were not put on with care. She doubled up the top coat very quickly with hardly any dry time and put it on so messy that when I left my nail and skin around my nail were stuck together. 5 days later the clear top coat starts peeling off and the entire gel polish start to lift. Gel polish lasts me literally forever. Either until I get them done again, or let them grow out it NEVER chips or lifts at my other place. So here I am 7 days after getting them done and I've now peeled them all off myself. I made and appointment with SOKNY NAILS(my regular), Right down the street and I'll never go somewhere else again. Also- my friend went there this past weekend and had walked in with the powdered color on her nails. They didn't know how to take it off and had her soak her nails in acetone for a HALF HOUR and then ground and filed and chipped it off. She was there 3 hours in total and they still made her pay. They offered her a $10 credit after she left a scathing review but she had to come in and get it herself. Disgusting. Nope, never ever going here again. Its hard to actually give them one star. It was very obvious that my nail tech was brand new when she didnt know how to turn the water on. She then proceeded to drop the tools on the floor multiple times and still used them on me. If that wasnt bad enough, she then cut my two in two separate places while filing so that blood was everywhere. Another tech came by in attempt to save my pedicure, but she put my bleeding foot in the dirty water and then put lotion on it (wtf?). I will never, ever go here again. read more
