Review of AV Lexus and Toyota Services (Palmdale, CA). I paid AV Lexus and Toyota Services $155 for a standard pre-purchase inspection. The purpose was simple: evaluate a vehicle before deciding whether to buy it. This is routine business for any repair shop and depends entirely on professional independence and basic ethics. That trust was misplaced. The inspection process dragged on longer than expected. While waiting, I briefly stepped out of the office, leaving the vehicle's owner inside with Willy, the shop's owner. Willy knew exactly why I was there and that I was considering buying the car. During that time, he solicited the seller directly and expressed interest in purchasing the car himself. I learned about this only after the visit ended. The inspection results came back with a list of supposed problems totaling over $10,000 in repairs, described as a conservative estimate. Under normal circumstances, I would weigh that information carefully. But once I learned that the same person performing the inspection was privately attempting to buy the car, the entire report became suspect. A mechanic who stands to profit personally from discouraging a buyer cannot be considered neutral. That is a textbook conflict of interest. According to the seller, Willy openly stated that he buys and flips cars on the side and wanted this one. That alone destroys any claim of impartiality. It raises a straightforward question: was the inspection an honest evaluation, or a tactic to scare off a buyer and lower the price? When confronted, Willy denied everything and called it a misunderstanding. At the same time, he stated the most he would offer for the vehicle was $5,500 because of the extensive repairs he claimed were necessary. Shortly after the inspection performed by his associate Carlos, the car reportedly began experiencing new issues. Whether coincidence or consequence, it only deepened the sense that something was wrong. The final insult came the very next day. After insisting he would not and could not buy the vehicle, Willy contacted the seller again and offered $7,000. The same man who denied any interest suddenly increased his offer once the buyer he competed against was out of the picture. Charging a customer for an inspection and then secretly competing against that customer for the same vehicle crosses a basic ethical line. An inspection is supposed to provide clarity. Instead, this one created doubt about every conclusion and every recommendation. The issue here is not simply poor service. It is conduct that calls into question honesty, professional integrity, and business ethics. A shop entrusted with evaluating vehicles should not be using that position to pursue private deals at a customer's expense. If independence and transparency matter, this is not a business that demonstrates either. read more

In late 2018, my 2010 Toyota Prius engine (with approximately 222,000 miles on it) started using over a quart of oil per week and I would notice white smoke coming out of the exhaust during heavy acceleration. I had been taking it to the dealer for service regularly and had multiple problems there (undercarriage cover came loose and started dragging after service, brake fluid leaking after service). When I took it to the dealer regarding the engine oil consumption problem, they told me it would be best to replace the engine with a used engine for about $4500. Given the issues I had when taking it to the dealer and the premium price I would pay for taking it to the dealer, I opted to give AV Lexus & Toyota Service a call after researching them online and noting their many positive reviews. Willy was very patient and knowledgeable as we discussed repair options ranging from rebuilding the engine to replacing the engine. Ultimately, I decided to have them replace the engine with a used engine that had about 40,000 miles on it. They offered a significant discount for paying cash, but the price for putting the service on a credit card was pretty close to what the dealer quoted me. It did take a while for the engine to arrive, so I wish that I had asked about that and coordinated the logistics a little better so that I could have had the use of my vehicle while we were waiting for the engine to arrive. However, everything worked out well in the end. I looked under the hood when I picked up the car and was impressed to see that the engine compartment had been cleaned spotless. It looked like the day that I bought it. The engine fired right up and ran smoothly as I put the vehicle through its paces on the way home. It is now May of 2019 and the vehicle has been running nicely since the engine replacement in late 2018. No more oil consumption and no more white smoke during heavy acceleration. My overall impression with AV Lexus & Toyota Service is that they are a knowledgeable, professional, personable, and trustworthy business. Woke up one morning with the delightful surprise of my Lexus IS250 not starting. The nearest Lexus dealership is in Valencia, which would cost a fortune to tow to, so I started to do some research. We just moved here from Seattle, so Yelp and word of mouth have been invaluable. Folks at my hubby's work suggested calling The Shop in Quartz Hill and AV Lexus & Toyota Service. Called "The Shop" and asked if they carry OEM Lexus Parts. They said "no, but we can order them" and the owner said his daughter had a Lexus (I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, but any good salesman also "has the same car," you know what I mean?) Called AV Lexus & Toyota Service and left a voicemail. Within a few minutes, Willy called right back, (super friendly) assuring me that yes, they have OEM Lexus parts on hand, and they specialize in Lexus & Toyota (he worked at a dealership for 20-some years prior to opening the shop.) Seemed like a very genuine and experienced guy; I knew he'd take good care of my vehicle. So, I had Allstate tow the car over. One hour later, I got a call from Willy saying all I needed was a new battery and it would be ready in an hour for pickup. He stayed past closing time just for us, and was such a delight to meet in person. We ended up paying much less than what the dealer would've charged for labor, diagnostics, and a top-notch battery with a 4-yr warranty. Overall, this was a tremendous experience. We are so lucky to have a Lexus specialist here in Lancaster, who will treat our vehicles with care and perfection. Side note: I was surprised by the nice waiting room inside AV Lexus & Toyota. It's very nice! I mean, comfortable seating, a table for laptop work, nice TV and homey decor. This isn't your run-of-the-mill auto shop in Lancaster. The last time I took my Prius in for an oil change they assured me that my left rear shock, and front sway bar links were no longer functional and needed to be replaced immediately. I declined the repairs and had my next service done at the dealership, which I should have done the last time since their new location (which isn't updated here) is out of a residence, and I asked the dealership about the problems AV Lexus & Toyota Service said I needed to take care of immediately and they saw nothing of the sort. It seems due to their lack of business is causing them to falsely claim problems with customer's vehicles in order to get more money. I definitely do not recommend giving this business you well earned money. Also, the first time I came to them for an oil change they said I had a crack in my head gasket (6 months after I bought the car) and never said anything about it again. I just took my 2008 Lexus ISF they're very polite the technician and the owner told me all the things that they did to the car and asked me if I had any questions which is rare nowadays that people care about what you think . The receptionist was very friendly. I went in there with the VSC code and the traction control light on they said all they had to do was clear in the computer system, they charged me a simple two hour diagnostic fee which I think is fair. Hopefully the car is fixed I will go back again if I need anymore services. read more

Wish there were more than 5 Stars! My husband and I are new to the AV. Well, we've been gone from the AV for nearly 30 years. So it seems new to us all over again. We are use to doing our own repairs and working on our own vehicles without taking them to a mechanic unless necessary. Due to unfortunate circumstances we both have become disabled and not able to continue doing our own maintenance. Trust and Honesty is a quality we have been looking for to takeover caring for our vehicles. We struck GOLD when we followed the recommendations to take our very old Toyota 4Runner (1990) in to AV Lexus Toyota Sevice. Willy, the owner is very kind, patient and honest. Being that we are disabled and on a tight budget, we dont hae the money to do all the maintenance that is needed right now. Willy was able to tell us what we needed to do now to get it smoged so we can get the new tags. There is more work to be done since its been awhile since we found someone we could trust and feel comfortable with. Run, don't walk from this business. In fact if I were you and you go here, get two more estimates. One time they put on cheap substandard parts and charged as though they were the best. Went back after a problem due to this and then was told we needed something else. Went to two other dealers and found out it was a line of crap. their needed an addition over $1,000 dollars in service turned out to be only $200. and we had to replace what they did before. I bought a car for a friend. The friend moved across the country and left the car undriveable with a broken harmonic balance, an elapsed registration and he had lost the title! The car is in Lancaster, I am in Bethesda Maryland. Now what do I do? I get on yelp, find AV Lexus Toyota, call them. Carlos says he will fix the car if I get it towed in. He gives me a tow truck number, the tow truck guy will only accept a check not a credit card. I send the check, he tows the car to AV. Carlos fixes the car, I pay with a credit card. This is all happening by phone and by trust. Carlos offers to sell the car for me but there is no title. I send a signed form requesting a new title, Carlos sends me a money order for the car. We found AV Lexus and Toyota completely by accident. My car needed some major work done and my boyfriend called and spoke to the owner, Willy. They immediately bonded and it was all smooth sailing from there. We took my car in on a Saturday and the mechanics were super friendly and more importantly, able to fix my car before the day was over. The great thing about it was the cost came in at more than 1/2 off the other quotes we had received (both Independents and Dealers)! After driving the car for a week, I noticed the car had a slight pull to the right (new tires and alignment). We took it back and it was fixed, no questions, no hassles, NO CHARGE! They work on all cars so I asked Willy if he would do a complete check of my daughter's car. A mere $50 later, he told us what was worth fixing and what wasn't (the car is on its last legs).
